Ruby's Postcard Collection
July 2003 - 3 new postcards added
A local person found these postcards in his home and has generously given them to us
after learning that Ruby was my mother's sister. We are very grateful to him for giving
the Williamson Family such a treasure. They were in a postcard album, and are in very good condition,
with most of the text still readable. Some of the text was written in pencil and doesn't reproduce well.
Some of the postcards are postmarked and others are not. Ruby boarded with family in West Hebron
during the week to go to school. Family members made trips to West Hebron during the week (to get grist
ground, horses "shawd", etc.) It is my thought that the postcards not postmarked may have been left
for Ruby where she was boarding, as they did not have telephones to communicate with at that time.
All but one were addressed to Ruby (that one was addressed to Harry Smith, her future husband)
in the early 1900s from family and friends. Hope you enjoy this piece of our past !
