Monday, January 1, 1877 - “I helped to do the choirs and it is a pretty cold day and some cloudy and some clear to and albert normy fred glenroy joe uncle Dave uncle john uncle alexander  and gramma and grampa aunt lucy jane aunt kate uncle Dave aunt ellen cora Dock Kinney and his woman and we all had a nice time and we had a goose and two chickens for dinner.

Jan. 2 – I went to school*  and I helped to do the choirs and pa shoemaked part of the..at his boots and he carried us to school and brought us home again at night and it is a pretty cold day pretty windy to most of the day and it snowed a little part of the day and it is a pretty cloudy most of the day.

Jan. 3 – I stayed at home in the forenoon and I helped pa and uncle dave helped pa to kill the beef my heifer and she weighed about 570 pounds tallow hide and all and he sold 2 quarters one to john huggins weighed120 lbs. at 7 cents a pound and one to uncle alexander weighed 118 at 6 cents a pound and in the afternoon I went to school and pa took uncle alexs quarter down to bedlam and it is a nice pleasant day but very cold.

Jan. 4 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa took a load of oats out to fort edward and he had on about 53 bushels and he took a small grist on top of the load and he got 50 cents a bushel for the oats and he got home a little while before night and I came up to do the noon choirs from school  and it is a nice pleasant day but cold and below zero in the morning 6 or 8 degrees.

Jan. 5 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and in the afternoon pa went down to bedlam and he got his suit of clothes that aunt lucy jane has been making for him and we drove over to the hay barn in the morning and pa took us to school in the morning and it is a nice pleasant day but it is cold though below zero in the mouring some cloudy though to.

Jan. 6 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie emma and I all went over to uncle Johns and he has got a bone fellon (?) it has been pretty painfull but now it is a getting some better now and eliza stayed at home and kep house and when we got home it was about night and it is a nice pleasant day but it is pretty cool but it is a moderateing I think.

Sunday, Jan. 7 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie eliza and I went to church**  and we drove Nell and frank and we herd a sermon by reverent mr flairty and his text was st. John 3 chapter and the 3 verse last claws and emma and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a pretty cloudy day and it snowed last night quiet a lot and through the day. 

Jan. 8 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa in the afternoon went down to argyle to pay his tax but he ditten pay them and in the forenoon pa shoveled snow away from the horse barn sellar and one thing and a nother and he took us to school in the morning and it is a pretty cloudy day and it snowed and rained some not much but thawing some to.

Jan. 9 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa went down to bedlam and from their up to the white church to a meeting and he was elected trustee of the church in the afternoon and it is a nice pleasant day but a little cloudy and it is pretty cold at night and mouring and through the day to.

Jan. 10 –I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and pa shoemaked most of the day and he is making himself a nother pair of boots and he got them done and it is a nice pleasent day but cold though at night and mouring and it thawed in the middle of the day.

Jan. 11 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa went down to bedlam and he got orrie a new slate and it was 15 cents and at night norman stayed all night and we had a lot of fun and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear and it is a pretty cold day and after dark it snowed and drifted to.

Jan. 12 – I went to school and pa went down to school in the afternoon and pa took us down to school in the moring and brought us home at night to and I helped to do the choirs and it snowed and drifted bad some places last night and it is a nice pleasent day but it is very cold very cold and in the mouring and night it is below zero cold cold cold it is cold.

Jan. 13 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and they was school and pa went down to argyle in the afternoon and mr lily went down with him and in the forenoon pa cut or sawed a little wood and it is a nice pleasent day but it is pretty cold a little below zero in the mouring and it is a little windy and pa took us down to school in the mouring.

Jan. 14 – I stayed at home and we stayed at home all of us and it is a nice pleasant day but the wind          did           blow           very             bad     (words spaced on separate lines)  and the wind piled the snow up in big drifts below and beside the barn down below our barn it drifted up the road full and I helped to do the choirs.

Jan. l5 – I went to school and I helped to do the schoirs and pa and uncle dave shoveled out the road below our barn the blew it full yesterday and the teacher ditten get to school till about eleven o clock and it snowed about all day pretty hard and it is pretty cool and it is a pretty cloudy day.

Jan. 16 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa went over to grampas and it was drifted pretty bad over their and they are well and it is some pleasent in the middle of the day and it snowed over a half a foot pretty near about I would think and in the mouring it rained and hailed some and it is a pretty cloudy day.

Jan. 17 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and in the afternoon pa went down to bedlam and he got half of a gallon of syrup molasses and a new broom and I have put my hens down in under the horse barn they is 15 hens and a rooster and it is a nice pleasent day but it is some cloudy and it is some cold to but it cleared of at night and pa took us to school.

Jan. 18 –I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa loaded up a load of oats and he took a load of oats out to fort Edward and john willet took his load of oats to and pa had on 55 bushels of oats at 50 cents a bushel and pa got home before dark and it is a nice pleasant day but it clouded up at night Moderating for a storm and pa got my penholder that I scent off and got a bout a week a go.

 

 

 

Jan. 19 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa washed and greaced the ponie harness and at night Datis Strever and his woman and bill McAuley and his wife and Nettie McAuley and lydia porter came over to our house and lydia came up from school and we had a nice time and it is a pretty cloudy day and it is a thawing some.

Jan. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and we all went over to granpas and grammas in the bobsleigh and we drove frank and the colt and we had a nice time and I granpa give me a ginney (?) rooster and I brought him home with us and it is a pretty cloudy day and it rained quiet a lot and it is a thawing pretty fast all day but at night it got cold though the west wind blew hard.

Jan. 21 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma orrie eliza  went to church down to argyle and pa put the horses in the hotel stable they herd a sermon by  reverent mr cain

and it was sacrement sabbeth down their and annie and I stayed home and kep house and it is a pretty cloudy day and it is pretty cool to but some pleasent.

Jan. 22 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa went down to bedlam in the afternoon and a dog came to our house in the mourning and it is a black dog and pa picked some corn up in barrels in the forenoon and at night emma stayed all night with

Jan. 23 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa took a grist down to slab Emma Dixon and it is a nice pleasent day and it is some cold to.city and some buckwheat to get ground and he left the grist but brought back the buckwheat flour and at noon us boys came up to do the choirs at noon and Dunk Mcdougalls boy came after his dog that dog was his and it is a nice pleasent day some cold and cloudy.

Jan. 24 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and pa washed and greeced both pairs of the double harness and it took him all day a while at night and them cards came that I scent of for a bout a week ago Nice ones and it is a nice pleasent day but some cloudy and at night the wind got up firce.

Jan. 25 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa finished washing and greecing the harness in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa went down to slab city after the grist and got it to and at night I went down to uncle daves and stayed all night with albert and normie and had a nice time and it is a pretty cloudy day pretty cold to.

Jan. 26 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa went down to argyle in the forenoon and in the afternoon he came back and Glenroy went down with him and I got two eggs from my hen one was laid yesterday I gess and it is a pretty cloudy day some cold and some warm cleared off at night.

Jan. 27 – I helped to do the choirs and we had a lot of visitors uncle tom H and his wife and alta and jonney and his wife and little girl and petter Reynolds and his wife and Nannie and Johnney and little baby and we had a nice time and we had a goose for dinner and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear and it is pretty warm thawing some to.

Jan. 28 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and orrie and eliza went to church and they herd a sermon by Reverent Mr. Wiley and they went to church down to West Hebron and emma annie and I stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasant day some warm and some cloudy to.

Jan. 29 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa went down to bvedlam and he took the tongue of the family sleigh to get fixed and the fork tine to get put in the handle and to get a roller for the door and at night pa and I went down to george shepards a while and it is a nice pleasent day warm to some cloudy to.

Jan. 30 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and Mr lily went down to bedlam and pa got the door hinge and he put it on in the afternoon and at night pa took a load over to Johney Williamsons party uncle Dave and aunt ellen cora and Normie Joe glenroy mary Jane levi and Jenny and Lydia and all of us and we had a nice time and it is a pretty cloudy to.

Jan. 31 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa stayed at home and choired   around and William Heath and Marget came over a visiting here a little while and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy though and it is a thawing some to quiet warm to.

 

Thursday, February 1, 1877 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa stayed at home in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa drove over to see uncle John and his finger is a getting better quiet fast and went down to argyleand at night pa and I started for Dock kinneys but stoped at levis a while and it is a pretty cloudy day some pleasent but it is thawing quiet fast.

 

Feb. 2 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa went to a meeting over to the white church for the sake of electing a minister for to preach a while and they are a going to have Reverent Mr galbreath and it is a pretty cloudy day and it is a thawing quiet fast quiet warm to.

Feb. 3 – I helped to do the choirs and I went down to uncle Daves and Normie rode down hill and I had a nice time Rideing down hill on the crust and susan gilchrist and her mother came up to our house in the afternoon and stayed till after night and glen went down after jimmey and brought him up to our house and it is a nice pleasent day warm thawing fast.

Feb. 4 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma orrie and I went to church over to our own church and they was no sabbeth school and eliza and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy and some warm to thawing some.

Feb. 5 -  I went to school and we all at school had a nice time rideing down hill on the nice crust and I helped to do the schoirs and in the arfernoon pa went up to see Deacon Reynolds and on up to Belcher to see James pollock and pa mended annies shoes and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy but quiet warm though.

Feb. 6 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa took a load of oats for glenroy and they both went out to the fort and he had on about 71 bushels at 52 cents a bu and we lad a lot of fun at school rideing down hill and it is a pretty cloudy day some pleasent quiet warm  thawing.

Feb. 7 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and at night emma McNeil stayed all night and a old man came along by the name of James Tilford and he stayed all night and he sharpened 2 razors and 3 pairs of shears and we had some fun rideing down hill at school and it is a nice pleasent day warm thawing quiet a lot.

Feb. 8 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and lydia porter came up from school at night with the girls and at night Miss Shepard and Georgia and Mr Shepard & levi and Jenny came up and we had a nice time and we had a nice time Rideing down hill at school and it is a nice pleasent day warm and pa went down to bedlam in the afternoon.

 

 

 

Feb. 9 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa went down to bedlam in the afternoon and he got orrie a new pair of shoes and at night pa took a load down to bedlam at prayer meeting of Normie albert all of us but eliza glenroy & Joe levi & *(?) mr lily & sarrah jane *(?) & Jennie and it is a nice pleasent day.

Feb. 10 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma orrie annie and I went over to uncle tom Hes and we had a nice time a rideing down hill and aunt kate and uncle alex was up to and aunt kates hand is a getting better and eliza stayed at home and kep house and it is pretty cloudy day some cold and some warm.

Feb. 11 – I helped to do the choirs and pa eliza emma and orrie went to church down to north argyle and they herd a sermon by reverent mr hemming and his text was in isiah 57 chapter and the 15 verse and annie and I stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasent day and it is quiet warm thawing quiet a lot.

Feb. 12 – I helped to do the choirs and pa went up to Willie Mceachrons to get some wagon timber (stough ?) and he took it down to bedlam in the afternoon and when he came back he broke a road in the woods down by uncle Daves and I went to school and it is a pretty warm day some cloudy and at night the west wind blew hard and it got quiet cold to.

Feb. 13 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa cut a apple tree down and cut it up in cord wood in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa went over to alex crosiers woods to see him about getting some rail timber but he ditten see him and it is a pretty cold day nice and pleasent though the north blew hard and it was cold.

Feb. 14 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and the wind blowed very hard all day but at night it stoped blowing about nice and clear though and at night emma and I took 5 hens down to glenroys to change them and pa went down to bedlam.

Feb. 15 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and george Shepard** commenced cutting wood and pa drawed it up and they drawed 9 loads and we had a lot of fun rideing down hill on the crust and it is a nice warm day some cold and some cloudy to.

Feb. 16 – I went to school in the forenoon and it was the last day of school and they was no school in the afternoon and mr. Dixon took about all of the schollars and teachers over to mr gibsons in the afternoon and stayed after 9 o clock and we had a lot of fun & I helped to do the choirs and george & pa cut & drawed wood and they drawed 10 load and it is a nice warm day.

Feb. 17 – I helped to do the choirs and george pa and I cut and drawed wood all day and we drawed 12 loads of wood up to the house and pa went down after Miss McDougall and brought her up and she stayed all day and at night I took 2 hens down to georges to get a hamburg rooster and a hen and it is a pretty cold day pretty windy to and pretty cloudy to.

Feb. 18 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma orrie and I went to church and we herd a sermon by Reverent Mr galbreath and his text was John 19 chapter 5 & 6 verses and eliza and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasent day pretty windy and pretty cold to.

Feb. 19 – I helped to do the choirs and in the afternoon pa went down to bedlam to get frank shawed* and when he came home he drawed 5 loads and george and I choped and in the forenoon pa and I cut some wood at the house and down in the woods to and it is a nice pleasent day some cold and some cloudy to.

Feb. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I drawed the limbs that pa and I cut yesterday and the remainder that george cut yesterday in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa and I went over to charles cornells auction with uncle Dave & Norman and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy thawing.

Feb. 21 – I helped to do the choirs and we all went down to uncle alexs a visiting and pa and I got a box of collars a piece and I got cloth for a pair of pants and got them cut out to and a pair of ---lets** and we ditten get home till late and eliza stayed at home and it is a nice pleasent day thawing quiet fast warm.

Feb. 22 – I helped to do the choirs and pa george and I cut and drawed wood and rail timber in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa went down to bedlam to get a shoe put on frank and george and I cut wood at the house in the afternoon and pa hired george by the

month for 22.50 a month and it is a nice pleasent day thawing quiet fast real warm.

Feb. 23 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I went over with alex crosier to his woods to buy some rail timber and he bought it and in the afternoon pa mr lily and I went at cutting and drawing it and we drawed 4 loads and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy but it is quiet warm to.

Feb. 24 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and mr lily choped rail timber and drawed all day and I helped them in the forenoon and we drawed 7 loads and in the afternoon I took emma and orrie down to bedlam at miss reynolds to take music lessons and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm and about night it snowed quiet hard.

Feb. 25 – I helped to do the choirs and pa eliza orrie and I went to church and we herd a sermon by reverent Mr. galbreath and his text was john l chapter 29 verse last clause and emma and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice day pretty cloudy and some cold to pretty windy drifted bad some places.

Feb. 26 – I helped to do the choirs and pa mr lily and I cut and drawed rail timber in the forenoon and we got through in the forenoon all but one load and pa cut a little wood at the house and at night pa and I went down to the school house to hear  rev Mr hall lecture on temperance and it is a nice pleasent day some windy.

Feb. 27 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I cut some wood at the house some in the forenoon and some in the afternoon to and I went down to uncle Daves in the afternoon and they was nobody at home and I came back and pa taped my boots in the afternoon and it is a nice pleasent day quiet warm thawing pretty fast.

Feb. 28 – I made a mistake I wrote for Wednesday I rote for Thursday and for Thursday I wrote for Friday I gess I will let it drop by writing a few words for Friday well I helped to do the choirs in the afternoon pa took orrie over to grampas to stay a while and in the forenoon pa and I cut wood and it rained quiet a lot heavy south wind.

Thursday, March 1, 1877 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I cut wood at the house in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa took emma down to take music lessons to bedlam and annie with them for a ride and I went down to uncle Daves and it is a nice pleasent day some warm thawing quiet fast.

Mar. 2 -  I helped to do the choirs and pa and I cut wood at the House in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa glenroy and I went up to uncle Tom Hs and his outbuildings was all burnt up last night but one of them 5 of them was burnt and 4 horse was burnt to death one was uncle Johns and it is a nice pleasent day thawing some to..

Mar. 3 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I cut wood at the house and put up a little grist and in the afternoon pa and I went down to Argyle to the town Cacus and we took a little grist down with us and we left it and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy thawing and fast some cool to in the morning.

Mar. 4 –  I helped to do the choirs and they ditten of us go to church and we all stayed at home and it is a pretty cloudy day in the forenoon it rained quiet a lot and it cleared up in the afternoon and it got colder.

Mar. 5 – I helped to do the choirs and pa cut wood in the forenoon and Norman came up and we rode hill on the crust some and in the afternoon pa and glen and I loaded up a load of Hay and pa and I took it over to John Quas for uncle tom H and comeing home we broke down and it is a nice pleasent day pretty cloudy though and quiet cool to in the afternoon.

Mar. 6 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and george and I cut wood george sawed wood most all of the time and pa and I cut and split in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa george glenroy and I went to argyle to town meeting and we brought back the grist that we took down the other day and Albert is sick and it is a nice pleasent day but cold & windy to.

Mar. 7 – I helped to do the choirs and pa cut wood in the forenoon and I went over across to grampas and they are all well and in the afternoon george came up to cut and saw wood and pa took emma down to bedlam to take Music lessons and he took my axe to hang the Handle and I went down to see albert he is no better and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy and cool white heifer had a calf.

Mar. 8 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I cut and split wood in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa went over to the church to a congressial meeting and I split wood and at night pa and I went down to see albert and he is in the afternoon and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm and it rained some thawing to.

Mar. 9 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I cut and split wood part of the day and in the mouring pa went down to Argyle after the Doctor for albert he started about 7 o clock and albert is very sick no better and at night pa went down to set up and it rained verry hard part of the day very warm strong south wind thawing quiet fast very high water.

Mar 10 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and emma went to Mr Reynolds burial and it was at the house at 11 oc and at the church at 12 o and pa and I cut and split wood and I went over in Joseph Boyds meadow to Skate and albert is very bad and it is a pretty cool day some warm pretty cloudy and windy to.

Mar. 11 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma eliza and annie went to church and they herd a sermon by Reverent Mr galbrath and his text was pslams 103 pslam and the 1 and 5 verse and I stayed at home alone and kep house and it is a nice cool day some cloudy and albert took worse in the afternoon and was not expected to live pa set up.

Mar. 12 – I helped to do the choirs and Albert Died about half past 4. o.clock in the morning and pa and I went down in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa and uncle dave went down to argyle to see about getting a coffin for albert and eliza and annie and emma went down to uncle Daves to and it snowed part of the day and it is a pretty cloudy day Willie Boyd came over at night.

Mar. 13 – I helped to do the choirs and pa went down to Argyle and seen the two rouse farms sold and I went over to grandpas to tell them and orrie that albert was dead and grampa and granma are both pretty lame and pa went down to uncle Daves at night and mourning and it was pretty cloudy in the forenoon and pretty clear in the afternoon some cold and some windy.

Mar. 14 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and glenroy took a load of chairs down to uncle Daves and pa and I drove over to grandpas after orrie and in the afternoon we all went down to albert frunrial it was a very large frunal it was at l oc and we all went to the gravy yard but eliza and it is a pretty nice day some cloudy some warm and some cold to.

Mar. 15 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I drove over to the Hay barn and then down to uncle Daves after them chairs and then pa drawed out 4 loads of manure out of the stable up on the hill and I taped 4 trees and in the afternoon pa and I cut a little wood and I carried some up and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy pretty warm.

Mar. 16 – I helped to do the choirs and pa is some sick and he stayed in the house most all day and in the forenoon I took eliza down to Hugh lants and he is a going to take her down to the victory to her sisters and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear and it is pretty windy to and it is pretty cold to I split some kindlan wood.

Mar. 17 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I took orrie over to grandpas in the forenoon and they are not much better and in the afternoon pa took a small grist down to bedlam and left it their and emma went down with him and annie and I stayed at home and it is a pretty cold day pretty to and uncle Dave & Normie came up after the trundle Bed.

Mar. 18 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and they was no meeting at our church and in the afternoon I went out awhile seeing a sheep with blood and the dogs was at our sheep and they killed 3 and bit one bad and one for Dick Kinney and we tracked them and they was John Shannon & Dave Reynols and it is a pretty cold day some cloudy to.

Mar. 19  - I helped to do the choirs and george came up to cut wood and saw and split and pa & I helped and Dave Reynals came up and looked at the sheep in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa went down to his house and john Shannons and on down to argyle and it is a pretty cold some cloudy to and at night I traded 2 hens with george.

Mar. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and george choped and sawed and split wood all day and pa took a grist down to bedlam in the forenoon and left it their and in the afternoon pa george and I  pulled wood of of three sheep and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy and some cold to.

Mar. 21 – I helped to do the choirs and pa took a nother grist down to bedlam and emma and annie went down with him and he went down in the afternoon and I stayed at home alone and in the forenoon pa and I cut some wood and I picked some carm and it is a pretty cloudy day warm rained some and the wind blew to.

Mar. 22 – I helped to do the choirs and george came up to chop and saw wood and pa and I helped to and I carried some sap and it is a nice warm day but it is pretty cloudy thawing to, sap run pretty good”.

Mar. 23 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I cut wood in the forenoon and in the afternoon we all started to go over to grandpas and we got part way and herd that they was gone away and we came back home again and then we cut some wood again and it is a nice pleasant day warm and sap run pretty good and I carried some sap.

Mar. 24 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I cut wood in the forenoon and in the afternoon we all went down to bedlam and I took 6 ½ Doxens of eggs to the store and got  6 ½  yards of shirting with the eggs and we brought home a grist and then we cut wood a while and it is a pretty cloudy day but quiet warm but it cleared off at night and got colder some.

Mar. 25 – (Sunday) – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and I carried some sap and sap run quiet fast and I read some in the new testament and and it is a nice warm some cold in the mouring and it is some cloudy nice and warm.

Mar. 26 – I helped to do the choirs and and pa went downt to bedlam and seen the horse shoe and then he went on up to the vendue* of Tommy Beattie and he ditten get the seat and in the forenoon I went down to georges and pa and I cut some wood and it is a pretty cloudy day and it rained quiet a lot pretty warm though and the wind blew some.

Mar. 27 – I helped to do the choirs and pa cut a little wood and he shelled some corn and I shelled some to and I picked up four barrels of corn in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa and I went down to argyle and pa got his grass seed and a bu of beans and a dung fork and granpa came over and left orrie over here and it rained some and it is a pretty warm and cloudy day.

Mar. 28 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I shelled some corn and I picked some corn and in the afternoon pa took a grist down to bedlam and brought it back again and emma and orrie went down with him and they took 9 Doxens of my eggs and got some cloth and annie and I stayed at home and it is pretty cloudy day and it rained quiet a lot warm.

Mar. 29 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa cut some wood and split some rails and mixed some grass seed and in the afternoon pa went down to bedlam to get the buggy fixed and the girls and I went down to uncle Daves and the girls rode down with pa and I with Mr lily and it is a pretty windy day some pleasent thawing some to cold to.

Mar. 30 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I sowed some grass seed on the rye and we ditten quiet sow it all and Datis Strever came over here and in the afternoon pa went down to argyle and sap run pretty good and I carried quiet a lot and at night I took 2 hens down to trade with mr lily and it is a nice pleasent day pretty windy but it is a thawing quiet a lot..”

Mar. 31 – I helped to do the choirs and 5 little lambs came and 2 pair of twins and one got its leg broke and pa sowed the rest of the grass seed and he cut down some apple trees and in the afternoon pa went down to bedlam and emma and annie went down with him and sap run very fast and I carried a lot and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy but quiet warm.

Sunday, April 1, 1877 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and emma went to church and they herd a sermon by Reverent Mr MaChord and his test was in isaih and orrie and annie and I stayed at home and kep house and I carried some sap and no more little lambs came and it is a pretty cloudy day but quiet warm though.

Apr. 2 – I rote wednesday for monday* I will write for wednesday granpa and granma came over and uncle tom came over and we all went up across to george Rouses vendue wednesday some cloudy and it is pretty warm and l more little lamb came and at night annie had the ear ache bad.

Apr. 3 – I rote thursday for tuesday I will write for thursday and george and I cut a old apple tree down and cut it up into kittle wood and pa went out to fort Edward  after a load of boards for James gilchrist and one more little lamb came and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm quiet warm.

Apr. 4 -  I helped to do the choirs and the spekle heifer had a calf last night and george commenced his work here and in the forenoon pa went down to argyle and he brought eliza up home with him and she has been gone over 2 weeks and george and I cut wood and it is a pretty cloudy day but quiet warm I carried some sap.

Apr. 5 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I drawed Manure out from the calf stable 9 loads some in the barnyard and in the afternoon george and I picked stone in the follow and pa fixed some fence and cut some apple trees and it is a nice pleasent day pretty windy some warm george and I carried some sap and 3 little lambs came.

Apr. 6 – I helped to do the choirs and george and I drawed manure most all day from inunder the horse stable 21 loads and in the mouring george and I cut some apple tree wood in the forenoon pa split some rails by the barn and l little lamb came and it was mine a buck and it is pretty cloudy day and pretty windy to..

Apr. 7 – I helped to do the choirs and george and I drawed manure in the forenoon out of the barn yard 10 loads and in the afternoon george and I finished drawing stone in the follow and then we split wood and pa emma and orrie went to church and herd a sermon by mr. MaChord and it is a nice pleasent day some windy and no more little lambs came.

Apr. 8 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma and I went to church and uncle Dave went with us and we herd a sermon by Rev mr MaChord and his text was in luke 22 chapter 15 verse and it was sacrament sabbath and it is a nice pleasent day and 4 little lambs came and l was dead 3 alive.

Apr. 9 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I builed stone wall I drawed the stone from the old wall and pa builded the wall the line betwin Dock & us and george commenced to plow in the follow and he ploughed about all day and 2 more little lambs came and one was mine and it is a nice warm day some cloudy and windy though.

Apr. 10 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I builded & drawed the rest of the stone wall betwin the line in the forenoon and george plowed all day in the follow and in the afternoon pa and emma & orrie went to church and on down to bedlam and spotted cow had a calf and l more little lamb came and it is a nice pleasent day some warm.

Apr. 11 – I helped to do the choirs and pa plowed the garden by the shed and we planted it at noon and george plowed all day in the follow and in the afternoon I plowed in the follow with the grays and pa fixed over some rail fence between the line fence and it is a nice pleasent day some warm to dry weather.

Apr. 12 – I helped to do the choirs and george and I plowed both teams in the forenoon and we finished plowing in the follow and in the afternoon we plowed both teams over in that field by the hay barn and pa --* very well and it is a nice pleasant day some cold in the morning some cloudy.

Apr. 13 – I helped to do the choirs and mr lily sowed the follow with oats and I dragged most of it with the grays but I ditten get quiet though and george dragged some and george plowed over in that field most all day and pa split some rails he is some better and it is a nice pleasant day very clear pretty warm to.

Apr. 14 – I helped to do the choirs and I finished dragging in the follow and I plowed the rest of the forenoon and george plowed all day and in the afternoon pa went down to bedlam and he drove the colt and emma and I went down with him and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm and clear nice weather and 3 little lambs came and one was mine.

Apr. 15 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house and 3 more little lambs came and 2 of them was twins and we turned out the grays in the follow and it is a nice pleasent day some warm nice clear and pleasent and warm and dry weather.

Apr. 16 – I helped to do the choirs and pa split some rails and in the forenoon george and I plowed both teams over yonder and in the afternoon we finished plowing over yonder and then started and plowed down the road in that field by glenroys till night and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm and clear.

Apr. 17 – I helped to do the choirs and Mr lily sowed that field over by the hay barn with oats and I dragged it over with the young horses and pa sowed the grass seed on the field to and george plowed all day down the road in the corn field with the grays and it is a very warm day some cloudy and pa split some ash rails.

Apr. 18 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I plowed with both teams down the road in that field by glenroys with both teams and in the afternoon george and pa plowed both teams and got all done but the little three corner piece and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm rained a very little and pa cut a little apple tree wood up in the orchard.

Apr. 19 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and george and I cut potatoes all of the early roses and then we drawed 2 loads of hay from the horse barn to the barn  and in the afternoon we made a pair of barposts and then George cleaned my gun out and it rained most all day pretty cloudy to nice rain some cool ** big rain one more lamb came and twas dead.

Apr. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george commenced to plow sward up on top of the hill above the barn and pa and I tore down some fence up along the orchard..in the afternoon we all cut some sixes potatoes and george and I shelled some corn and it rained most all afternoon nice rain pretty cloudy some warm.

Apr. 21 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george plowed up on top of the hill with the young horses and pa and I fixed fence up along the orchard and in the afternoon george plowed with the old team in the same place and pa drove frank down to bedlam and emma went with him and I went down to george shepards and it is pretty cloudy day rained some to some cold to snowed a very little bit.

Apr. 22 – I helped to do the choirs and eliza orrie and I went to church and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr wily of bedlam and we drove the black horse and pa emma and annie stayed at home and pa has got a very sore finger it may be a fellen and it is a nice pleasent day some cool nice and clear.

Apr. 23 – I helped to do the choirs and george plowed up on top of the hill most all forenoon and he broke the plow and pas finger is no better and in the afternoon george finished plowing old ground and we piled some wood and last night red heifer had a calf and at noon george and went up after the peas to willie Mceachrons and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm.

Apr. 24 – I helped to do the choirs and mr lily sowed oats and some peas in the forenoon down the road in that field and I dragged in the forenoon and pa finished dragging in the afternoon and in the forenoon george finished plowed up on top of the hill pas finger is no better and in the afternoon george and I drawed out manure and it is a nice pleasant  day pretty warm.

Apr. 25 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I drawed manure in the farm yard and hog yard and pa helped some to and in the afternoon george and I scattered manure and pa helped us to draw some manure and george commenced to plow the side hill and pa dragged some down in the little meadow and it is a nice pleasant day some cold and some warm.

Apr. 26 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon I finished dragging down in the little meadow for the first time and george plowed all day on the side hill and pa went out to fort edward with theodore gilchrist and he got a barrel of flour and his finger is a little better and george and I spread Manure and annie & I went over to grandpas after emma and it is a nice pleasant day pretty warm.

Apr. 27 – I helped to do the choirs and george plowed all day up on the sidehill and in the forenoon he dragged the little meadow over again and I helped him to draw some stone down their to and in the afternoon pa and the girls went over to meeting and on down to

bedlam and pa got l hoe and it is a nice pleasant day pas finger is a getting better and george and I spread some manure.

Apr. 28 – I helped to do the choirs and george plowed in the forenoon up on the sidehill and I dragged most of the side hill and in the afternoon george finished plowing up on the side hill and pa fixed fence up along back of the house and george and I drawed manure up from glenroys put it  on the field by the barn and plowed and made the garden behind the house and it is a nice pleasant day and the girls went over to Datis Strevers.

Apr. 29 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice warm day and it rained last night quiet a lot some cloud though nice and warm day Nice weather and I read some in the testament.

 

 

 

Apr. 30  - I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I drawed manure up from glenroys in that little field by the barn and pa drawed some stone of from the same field and in the afternoon pa and george marked that piece up on top of the hill once and part twice and school commenced I piled some wood and it is a pretty cloudy day but quiet warm though.

 

Tuesday, May 1, 1877 – I helped to do the choirs and mr lily and pa and I droped and planted potatoes all day up on top of the hill and george commenced to plow in that field by the barn and plowed & spread manure all day and we ditten get quiet thought planting up on top of the hill and it is a pretty cloudy day and some cool to some warm though to and pa finished marking that piece out top of the hill.

May 2 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and mr lily and I finished planting up on the top of the hill all but a few seed potatoes we lacked and the rest of the day we fixed fence down betwin the lower follow and the little meadow and george plowed all day in that field by the barn and it is a pretty cold and cloudy day and we cut a chestnut tree and split it in stakes down in the woods by the swamp.

May 3 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and mr lily and I fixed fence a long the lower follow and george finished plowing in that field by the barn and I dragged it and pa fixed fence in the afternoon and when george got through he started to plow in the big side hill down toward uncle daves and it is a pretty cool day and some cloudy to some warm.

May 4 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we cut some potatoes and we loaded up a load of potatoes and it commenced to rain and we ditten go and in the afternoon george plowed down on the side hill and emma and I and pa went down to bedlam and we got a nother hoe & we drove up to Johney Williamsons and drove home the little bull $12 and it is a pretty cloudy day rained some pretty cool.

May 5 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I went out to fort edward and we took a load of potatoes about 45 bu at $1.00 a bushel and 6 bu was for Mr lily and I got a new straw hat and we took some eggs and butter eggs 15 cts a dox trade and butter 19 c cash and george plowed all day down on the sidehill with the grays and it is a nice pleasent day some warm pretty clear.

May 6 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie eliza and I went to church and we herd a sermon buy mr revenent heming and his text was the 52 pslam 20 verse and emma and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasant day some warm and some cold to.

May 7 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I picked stone most all day down on the side hill and george plowed all day down on the side hill and after supper pa commenced to Mark out with the corn plow for corn up on the side hill the other side of the barn and it is a pretty coll day and cloudy to some windy some clear.

May 8 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I picked stone down on the sidehill and I dragged some to down their and in the afternoon pa marked out up on the sidehill till supper time and aftere supper he took a small grist down to bedlam and left it and george plowed all day down on the side hill and it is a nice pleasent day some windy and warm and cool to.

 

 

 

May 9 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I picked stone down on the side hill and I dragged some their and george plowed all day their to and in the afternoon pa marked out in that field by the barn and up on the side hill to and I piled some wood and it is a pretty cool day and it is pretty cloudy to some clear.

May 10 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I drawed stone down on that side hill and george plowed all day down their and in the afternoon pa marked out some up on the side hill and then we planted corn till most night and it is a pretty cloudy

& cold day rained a little and I had 24 chicks come out of 30 eggs.

May 11 – I helped to do the choirs and Mr lily and I planted corn all day up on the side hill and in that field by the barn and pa Marked out for us and planted corn the rest of the day and george plowed all day down in that side hill and it is a pretty cool day and some windy and pretty cloudy some warm and some clear.

May 12 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I planted corn in that field by the barn part of the forenoon and I finished it in the afternoon and george finished plowing down on the round side hill and he plowed all day and in the afternoon pa went down after the grist to bedlam and emma went with him and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm some cloudy.

May 13 – I helped to do the choirs and eliza went down to argyle to church and herd a sermon by Mr Reverent cain and the rest of us went to church and we herd a sermon by Reverent Mr shartt and his text was in first Corinthians 16 chapter and 22 verse and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm and some smokey to pretty clear.

May 14 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and george and pa marked out all day about down in the little meadow and down on the round hill and I finished dragging down on the round hill and I dragged all forenoon and some in the afternoon and we cut some potatoes at noon and it is a nice pleasent day pretty smokey though pretty warm.

May 15 – I helped to do the choirs and mr. lily and george and I planted potatoes all day on the round hill and pa planted and marked out all day in the same place and 2 hens brought out 15 chickens and it is a nice pleasant day but it is very smokey though and it is pretty warm to and Mary lant and her sister and boy and a gal from victory mills came up here a while in the afternoon

May 16 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we cleaned out the sellar and in the afternoon george and I planted potatoes and pa marked out and planted down on on the round hill and it at night it rained some and it rained part of the forenoon but cleared of in the afternoon at night hamp Beattie James Dixon & george Boyd came over awhile.

May 17 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I finished planted potatoes and begun to plant corn and pa took eliza down to her aunts frunal and in the afternoon we finished planting down on the round hill and begun to plant corn down in the little meadow and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy pretty warm.

May 18 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we finished planting corn glenroy helped us we have got all done but planting beans and in the afternoon till about supper time george and I washed the sheep 33 pa helped to drive down them and reach (?) them in the water and after supper george and I went a fishing down to Barkleys lake we had good luck drove black horse and we had a thunder shower hailed some some warm cooler at night.

 

May 19 -  I helped to do the choirs and george and I split rails chestnut down the road most all day and at noon we went out in the cornfield and shot the gun of a few times nt out to ft Edward and emma & annie went with him he took about  -* bu of potatoes and about  -  *bu of rye & about  - * bu of oats and brought some plaster & 2 bu of corn and it is a very warm day some cloudy to.

May 20 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house and I read some in the testament and we read some a verse about in the testament and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy though pretty clear and it is pretty warm warm weather.

May 21 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I picked stone of from that field up by the woods and and pa pa builded some wood and one thing and a nother and in the afternoon we builded fence along the little meadow and we builded quiet a lot of wood in the wood shed and it rained most all afternoon and pretty cloudy but warm.

May 22 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we fixed some fence along the little meadow and george & pa made a pair of barposts and we piled a little wood and in the afternoon george and I builded wood and george split some rails down the road and pa went down to bedlam after supper and emma & orrie went with him and it is a pretty cloudy day and it rained quiet a lot.

May 23 – I helped to do the choirs and it is a pretty cool day some warm rained some some cloudy to and in the forenoon pa george and I  plastered the corn up on the side hill above the barn and they split rails till ** and the afternoon we split some rails & stakes and we build some fence down the little meadow and pa & I took uncle Daves plow & marker down home.

May 24 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa took the horses down to argyle to get them shawed and he got a pair of  sheep shears and george and I shelled some corn and made a pair of bar posts and in the afternoon we split rails most of the time and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear & warm pretty cool though and it rained quiet a lot.

May 25 – I helped to do the choirs and it is a pretty cloudy day some cool though and it rained some to pretty cool and pa and I worked on the road most all day and most all the rest worked on the road to and at night & mouring pa and I plastered some corn in that little field by the barn and at night emma dixon came up and stayed all night.

May 26 – I helped to do the choirs and in the mouring pa & I sent a pair of bar posts down by the little meadow and we worked on the roads most of the day down on that hill by uncle Daves and at night pa and I finished plastering the little field by the barn and george ditten work for us to day or yesterday and it is a pretty cool day and pretty cloudy to some warm though.

May 27 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house excep eliza went down to argyle yesterday and she came home and she was to church to argyle and it is a nice pleasent day pretty clear some cool and some warm some cloudy though.

May 28 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa george and I fixed fence around the lower follow and we drawed some stakes & rails their and in the afternoon we fixed fence around the lower follow and the round hill and we cultivated and hoed the potatoes by the shed and it is a nice pleasent day pretty clear to and pretty warm to.

May 31 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we fixed fence around the swamp and that field cross from the barn and I finished plastering my corn down in the little meadow and in the afternoon we finished fixing fence around the swamp the other field to and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm & clear and at noon I went down to kinneys dam with the school boys and went in.

 

Friday, June 1, 1877 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa fixed some fence over yonder and I plastered the corn on the round hill and george drawed out the manure under the little hay barn and in the afternoon pa fixed some fence and george & I split rails down the road and after supper pa george & I went down to argyle and it is a nice plesent day pretty warm.

June  2 – I helped to do the choirs and george and mr lily sheared our sheep and they got through at supper time and pa done up the wool and afternoon I drove the black horse over after emma & orrie to granpas and annie went over to and after supper pa took emma down to bedlam to take Music lessons he drive the colt and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm and clear to.

June 3 – I helped to do the choirs and they was no meeting at our church and we ditten go no other place but they was meeting down the school house at 6 o c and we all went down but pa ditten go and I read some from the testament and it is a pretty warm day some cloudy and about night we had a thunder shower not much rain some though.

June 4 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I cultivated that field by the barn one way and part of it the other and pa took a load of lumber from uncle Daves over to uncle tom hs for him and afternoon george and I hoed corn in that field by the barn and pa helped some to we cultivated some to and it is a nice cool day some cloudy some windy to.

June 5 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hoed in that field by the barn & cultivated to in the afternoon we finished hoeing corn in that field by the barn and we commenced to hoe corn up on the side hill and cultivateing to and it is a pretty cool and pretty cloudy to some warm and some clear to.

June 6 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we made a beetle and george finished spliting rails down the road and we hoed some in the garden behind the house and in the afternoon pa cut some apple tree wood and after supper george and I went down to the little lake a fishing and it is a pretty rainy day and it is pretty cool and cloudy.

 

 

 

 

June 7 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we hoed part of the forenoon corn up on the side hill and I piled a little wood and george cut some burdocks pa trimed apple trees a little while and in the afternoon we hoed corn all the time and cultivated corn up on the side hill and it rained some pretty cool and pretty cl.oudy to some clear warm.

June 8 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we finished hoeing corn up on the side hill by the barn and commenced to hoe and cultivate the potatoes up on top of the hill killing potatoes bugs and it is a very warm day some cloudy pretty clear though.

June 9 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we got about through hoeing the potatoes up on top of the hill and in the afternoon george cultivated my corn out and way down in the little meadow and pa and I went down to bedlam and we took a small grist and left it & emma & orrie went with us and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm & at night we drove a cow over to henry Dixons bull.

June 10 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house and I read some in the testament and it rained very hard part of the day and cleared of pretty cold and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm in the mouring.

June 11 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I commenced to hoe my corn down in the little meadow and cultivate to and in the afternoon we hoed in the same place and pa helped some to in the afternoon and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warn in the mouring cold though & pa took orrie & annie over to granpas in the forenoon but he brought them back again though.

June 12 –  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I went up to smiths basin after 6 barrels of lime and george hoed at my corn down in the little meadow and in the afternoon pa & george finished hoeing down in the hollow corn and I was pretty sick all day and it is a nice warm some cool and some cloudy to.

June 13 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all droped lime 4 barrels of slack on the potatoes up on top of the hill part of them and in the afternoon we hilled that little piece by the shed and we finished hoeing up on top of the hill and we commenced to plant beans with the corn on the side hill and it is a nice pleasent day some warm some cool spotted heifer had a calf.

June 14 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all planted beans betwin the corn and up on the side hill and in the afternoon we commenced to hoe & cultivate down on the round hill potatoes and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy to and it rained a little in the forenoon and it is pretty warm to.

June 15 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I hoed potatoes down on the round hill and pa went out to ft Edward & orrie went with him they took some butter & eggs & in the afternoon we all hoed down on the round hill part of the time and it is a nice warm day and at night we had a thundershower it rained very heavy.

June 16 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I weeded & hoed the garden and moved some hay up to in the Horsebarn and pa taped his boots and in the afternoon george ditten work and pa and I took the wool down to salem he got 35 cents a lb and we brought back a barrel of flour emma went as far as bedlam & annie is some sick and it rained some pretty cloudy day but its warm though.

June 17 – I helped to do the choirs and annie is better and pa emma orrie and I went to church and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy though and it is a nice cool day some warm though and at night we all went down to the schoolhouse and they was meeting down their mr spear preached they was quiet a lot their.

June 18 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hoed & cultivated potatoes down on the round hill and in the afternoon we hoed & cultivated some corn and potatoes down on the round hill and at night george and I drove a cow over to Mr  Dixons bull and it is a nice pleasent day some cool pretty warm and clear though.

June 19 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hoed & cultivated corn & potatoes down on the round hill and in the afternoon I took orrie & annie over to

grandpas and I hoed corn & potatoes the rest of the afternoon and pa and george & pa hoed corn & potatoes down on the round hill and it is a nice warm day some cloudy it rained a little in the mouring and it is some clear.

June 20 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hoed down on the round hill and we got done we have got all done the first time hoeing and in the afternoon george shoveled out the potatoes one way up on top of the hill and pa and I droped lime on the potatoes down on the round hill we ditten get done and orrie & annie came home and it is a nice pleasent day pretty cool in the mouring.

June 21 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I finished dropping lime on the round hill and then we all commenced to hill potatoes up on top of the hill and in the afternoon we all hilled potatoes up their till supper time and it rained then and it rained quiet a lot pretty cloudy but some warm and clear and at night the school teacher stayed all night.

June 22 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hilled and shoveled out potatoes up on top of the hill and in the afternoon mr lily helped us and george shoveled out the corn one way by the barn and pa mr lily and I finished hilling up on top of the hill george helped some and they we commenced to hill the corn down by the barn and it is a pretty cool day some cloudy very windy some rain not much.

June 23 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I hilled corn and pa plowed out for us and pa and orrie went down to argyle and they got a new churn and in the afternoon george & I hilled corn back of the barn pa plowed out and pa and emma went down to bedlam and after supper pa helped us to hill corn back of the barn and it is a nice pleasent day some cool & some warm george & I drove a cow over to Dixons in the mouring.

June 24 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house but at night they was preaching down to the school house and we all went down and reverent mr cain preached and I read some in the testament and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy and it is a pretty warm day.

June 25 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I finished hilling the corn in that field by the barn and pa shoveled it out and he plowed out part of the corn down in the little meadow and in the afternoon we all hoed & plowed out corn down their and george plowed out some up on the side hill one way corn and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm some windy & cloudy.

June 26 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I hilled corn down in the little meadow til it come on rain and pa plowed up on the sidehill till it rained and in the afternoon pa and I droped lime up on top of the hill and george cultivated the buckwheat ground on the round hill that was plowed once and it rained quiet a lot it is a pretty cloudy day but it is pretty warm.

 

 

June 27 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I finished hilling down in the little meadow and pa finished plowing out the sidehill one way and in the afternoon pa and I commenced to hill up on the sidehill and george finished cultivateing down on the round hill and it is a nice warm day pretty cloudy though and the sheep got in the rye.

June 28 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hilled corn & beans up on the side hill and pa plowed out and in the afternoon we all hilled corn and beans in the same place and pa plowed out for all of us and it is a nice pleasent day but pretty warm and some cloudy and at night eliza & orrie went up to John Reynolds.

June 29 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I finished hilling corn up on the side hill and george plowed out the round hill one way and I went up to James Beatties after some turnip seed and in the afternoon pa and annie went out to fort edward they got fire crackers and some fish and george and I plowed out on the round hill & george plowed out after supper down their and got most down and it is pretty cloudy day and pretty warm.

June 30 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all fixed fence up between the long field and the rye and in the afternoon george & I  hilled corn & potatoes down on the round hill till supper time and pa took emma down to bedlam and she stayed all night and after supper we all hilled corn & potatoes down their and it is a pretty cloudy day and pretty warm and it rained some.

Sunday, July 1, 1877 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I went to church and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr Andrewson and his text was in the pslams 132 pslam and the 17 verse and emma came home with us and eliza orrie and annie stayed at home and it rained a lot last night several showers l after a nother it washed very bad some places it washed up on the side hill and came down in the round.

July 2 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hilled & shoveled out corn and potatoes down on the round hill very wet and in the afternoon we hilled corn and potatoes down in the same place and after supper to and it is pretty wet hoeing or hilling most all day and it is a pretty cloudy day nice and cool some windy.

July 3 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hilled corn and potatoes and in the afternoon george and I hilled potatoes till supper time and pa went down to bedlam and he got 2 scythes and after supper we all hilled potatoes and shoveled out to and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm.

July 4 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa fixed a little fence and in the afternoon pa emma eliza annie and orrie went down to the county house and I went over to henry Dixons meadow to play base ball and we had a lot of fun and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy rained a little in the mouring fireing off fire cracker fast.

July 5 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hilled & plowed out potatoes down on the round hill and in the afternoon we all hilled and plowed out potatoes down in the same place and it is a pretty cloudy day and pretty warm to rained just a litttle bit and not much showers went around we fired off some fire crackers at night.

July 6 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all hilled potatoes down on the round hill & shoveled out to and in the afternoon pa dragged and sowed buckwheat down on the round hill and I helped him some dragged it twice and george and I finished hill potatoes we have got all done hilling and it is a pretty cloudy day and some warm to.

July 7 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all picked potatoes bugs up on top of the hill and we put some lime on the potatoes up their and in the afternoon pa went down to bedlam and up to Belcher and the girls went with him and george & I helped glenroy to hill potatoes and we got done before night and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm and clear to.

July 8 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie emma annie and I went to church and we drove frank and doll and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr. Andrewson and his text was in hebrews and eliza stayed at home and kep house and at night they was meeting down to the school house and we all went down but pa we herd a sermon by mr wiley and it is a pretty warm day some cloudy.

July  9 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and george mowed the swail down by glenroys and some in the meadow up by the woods and spread it out and in the afternoon pa and george ground the mowing machine scythe george mowed some in the swail down the road and spred it out and I went down to school and it is a pretty cloudy rained some some warm to.

July 10 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon gerorge mowed that meadow up by the road with the machine and pa mowed some by hand up their george broke part of the machine and I have got a stiff neck and ditten do much all day and in the afternoon george finished mowing up their & pa and george commenced to cut rye up their after supper and it is a pretty warm day but some cloudy some clear.

 

July 11 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all went over to Datis strevers to a raising and we raked a little hay down the road by hand and in the afternoon we drawed in 5 loads of hay and 4 loads up in that field by the woods and l down the road in one of the swails and we sold 8 lambs and 8 old sheep lambs for 3.50 and sheep for the same one calf for $7.00 and it is a nice pleasent day warming my neck is some better.

July 12 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa went away to get the machine

fixed and george cut some rye and then george begun to cut grass up on top of the hill

and in the afternoon pa and I binded rye up in that field by the woods and drawed in rye

load of hay and george cut grass up on top of the hill and after supper we drawed in the loads of hay and it is a nice pleasent pretty warm and clear.

July 13 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george finished mowing with the machine up on top of the hill and pa cut some around the fences around the fences we drawed 2 loads of hay from their and in the afternoon we drawed in 7 loads of hay and I raked it and miss McDougall came up and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm day good hay weather.

July 14 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we finished cutting and binding rye up in that field by the woods and drawed in 2 loads of hay from on top of the hill and in the afternoon we drawed in 6 loads of hay from on top of the hill and I raked it and we got through up their frawing in hay and it is a nice pleasant day at night I took miss McDougall home & eliza went down to * lants.

July 15 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma and orrie went to church and they drove frank and the new buggy and they herd a sermon by Reverent mr Andrewson and at night pa emma & orrie went up to coot hill school house and herd a sermon by mr cain and eliza came home and annie & I stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm though.

July 16 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george cradled rye up in the second field above glenroys and pa took the young horses down to argyle to get shawd  and in the afternoon pa and I binded some rye and pa & george cut some rye up in that sidehill and george mowed some in the meadow below the house with the machine and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy but quiet warm though.

July 17 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george mowed down in the meadow below the house and pa mowed some around the fences and pa and I raked and binded rye up in that field and in the afternoon george went down to uncle Daves to mow with the machine and Willie Williamson came up to help pa and I draw in hay I raked a little with the new rake but it rained part of the afternoon pretty cloudy & warm heavy thunder.

July 18 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george went down to mow with the machine to uncle Daves and willie came up and cut rye for us and glenroy helped to cut rye to & pa & I binded some rye & in the afternoon pa glen & I binded rye & george stouped up a while and then we went at drawing hay I raked & glen drawd hay down in the meadow and it is a nice warm day pretty cloudy and warm.

July 20 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george cut rye up in that field and pa and I raked and binded rye up their and we all stouped up some and in the afternoon we drawed in 2 ½  loads of hay out of the meadow and I raked it up and then it rained till most night and george cut up some old wood and it is a pretty cloudy day pretty warm it rained some.

July 21 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we finished cutting and rakeing and binding rye and shaked out the hay that was in cocks down in the meadow and in the afternoon we drawed the hay in & they was 3 loads and I raked the tailings and after supper we went up and mowed in the little meadow & I spred it out we ditten get done and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy and warm to.

July 22 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie and emma went up to miss quas frunial and eliza annie and I stayed at home but at night they was preaching down to the school house and we all went down and we herd a sermon by mr ainsley they was a lot their and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy but quiet warm.

July 23 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we went up and finished mowing up in the little meadow and I spred it out and george mowed some with the machine in the swail down in the meadow and in the afternoon we drawed in 2 loads of rye and george finished mowing the swail down in the meadow and pa and I picked potatoes bugs up on top of the hill after supper and it is a nice warm pretty cloudy & warm rained some.

July 24 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all picked potatoe bugs awhile and we drawed in 2 loads of rye and in the afternoon we drawed in 5 loads of hay 2 up in the little meadow and 3 down in the swail in the meadow and I raked that with the wheel horse rake and it is a nice pleasent day but it is quiet warm some cloudy.

July 25 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we drawed 5 loads of rye in l load from out of the meadow and the hay is out of the meadow and in the afternoon pa took the trucks & rack down to argyle to get fixed and george mowed at the swail over in the oat field and I shook it out & after supper we drawed in 3 loads of rye and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm and clear.

July 26 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we drawed in rye 6 loads and pa and I drawed in 2 loads while george finished mowing that swail over in the oat field and in the afternoon we drawed in 5 loads of rye and after supper george pa emma and I went down to bedlam and we got a new cradle and I got a new ball dead red and it is a nice pleasant day very warm 90 some cloudy.

July 27 – I helped to do the choirs and in the afternoon we finished drawing in rye l load and george and pa commenced to cut the oats and I raked at the rye stubble part of the forenoon and in the afternoon george cradled oats most of the time & pa helped some & pa & I raked & cocked that swail over yonder in the oat field and we drawed in a load of rye rakeings that I raked and it is a very warm day 90 rained some,.cloudy to.

 

 

July 28 – I helped to do the choirs and in the afternoon george and I thrashed tailings of rye and pa mended some harness and in the afternoon george cradled oats in the follow and pa emma orrie annie and I went over to grandpas a visiting and they are all well and eliza stayed at home & kep house and it rained in the forenoon and it is pretty cloudy & warm day.

July 29 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie eliza and I went to church and the text was Proverbs 18 chapter and 24 verse in the forenoon and in the afternoon his text was in ephesins 3 chapter and 8 verse I gess and emma and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice warm day and it is pretty cloudy some clear.

July 30 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I finished trashing the tailings of rye pa helped some to & pa & george cradled some oats in the follow and I finished rakeing tailings of rye & in the afternoon pa & george cradled oats in the follow and I mowed some after supper pa & I drawed in the tailings of rye l load and it is a nice warm day, pretty warm and at  night I went down to georges and little george & I went in a swimming.

July 31 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa & george finished cradeling oats in the follow & I  mowed some and we commenced cutting in that field over yonder cutting oats and in the afternoon we drawed in 5 loads of oats from out of the follow and we cleaned up the rye and they was 10 bu of rye and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm and clear.

 

Wednesday, August 1, 1877 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & pa cradled oats over in that field by the hay barn and then we drawed in 2 loads of oats out of the follow and we raked them and in the afternoon we drawed in 5 loads of oats out of the follow and l load of hay out of that road out of the oat field and it is a pretty warm day pretty cloudy some clear.

Aug. 2 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & pa cradled some oats over yonder and we all drawed in 3 loads of oats out of the follow and in the afternoon we raked and drawed in 6 loads of oats out of the follow and after supper willie helped some and it is a nice pleasent day pretty cloudy but warm.

Aug. 3 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon uncle Dave & willie cut oats over yonder george cut a little and george pa & I drawed in 3 loads of oats from the follow and in the afternoon we finished drawing from the follow 2 loads and we commenced over yonder & drawed in 5 loads & put them in the haybarn and we raked them and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy but warm.

Aug. 4 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & willie got done cutting oats over yonder & pa george willie and I drawed in 5 loads & raked them and in the afternoon uncle Dave pa george and I drawed 10 loads into the hay barn & 2 over home to the big barn and it is a nice warm some cloudy and pretty windy to.

Aug. 5 – I helped to do the choirs and pa eliza and emma went to church and they herd a sermon by Reverent mr Nesbitt and his text was in Revelation and they drove one horse and orrie and annie and I stayed at home and kep house and it is a pretty cloudy day pretty warm and it rained some.

 

 

Aug. 6 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa went down to argyle after willie and then pa george & willie mowed and cradled oats down the road in that field above glens and I raked the scattering oats over yonder and in the afternoon george pa & I finished drawing in oats over yonder 3 loads & pa george cut oats some down the road I started to rake tailings of oats in the follow and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy and warm.

Aug. 7 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & willie & pa got done cutting oats and I got done raking oat tailings in the follow we drawed it in l load and in the afternoon we drawed in 8 loads of oats down the road we put them in a stack by the barn & willie & I bound up 7 ½ Doxens* of oats and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy pretty warm.

Aug. 8 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa george willie and I bound up quiet a lot of oats down the road and we drawed in 3 loads of oats and raked them and in the afternoon we drawed in 3 loads of oats and then it came on rain and it is a pretty warm & cloudy day rained to and pa took willie down home to argyle george & I thrashed some tailings of rye.

Aug. 9 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I finished thrashing the tailings of rye and in the afternoon we got done draweding in the oats but the tailings they was 4 loads and finished l stack and then it came on rain and we cleaned up the tailings of rye and  ** oats 11 bu and it rained some pretty cloudy and warm.

Aug. 10 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I thrashed some rye and I raked most of the oats field over and finished it after dinner and we drawed it in in the afternoon & they was 2 loads and then it came on rain and after supper george drove our cow & uncle Daves cow down to argyle uncle Dave carryed us back they sole them to Jim brackes pa went down to bedlam it rained pretty cloudy & warm.

Aug. 11 -  I helped to do the choirs and george thrashed rye most of the day 14 Doxens and he helped pa and I to load up a load of straw rye straw and pa and I took it out to fort Edward and we had on 1865 at 10 dollars a hundred and we got some timber to build a corn house and when we got home we all went down and got that little lock of hay and it is a nice warm day pretty cloudy.

Aug. 12 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie eliza and annie went to church they herd a sermon by Reverent mr nesbitt and his text was in matthew and emma and I stayed at home and kep house and it is a pretty cloudy day but it is warm though.

Aug. 13 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I  drawed l load of rails and we pulled peas till noon down the road in that field by glenroys and in the afternoon pa & I thrashed most 2 Doxen and cleaned up the rye they was 19 ½ bu & after supper we pulled peas a while and it is a pretty cloud and pretty warm and george has gone away a visiting a few days.

Aug. 14 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I fixed fence line fence up along the peas and in the after noon we finished making fence up along the peas and glenroy helped us some and then we finished pulling peas and it is a very warm day and it is some cloudy & some clear.

Aug. 15 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I went down to Bedlam and we took a small grist and we brought it back and uncle tom H and aunt mary eliza and her mother came over here a visiting and in the afternoon I went down to school a little while and pa & orrie * very well and it is a pretty cloudy day and it rained some.

Aug. 16 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I cut up some old bark at the wood pile & pa is some sick he has got the diarea and george and I made a place to put oats in the wagon house and in the afternoon the thrashers came to thrash our oats and mr lily helped us and we thrashed 75 bushel and it is a pretty cloudy day but it is pretty warm though and some clear.

Aug. 17 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all thrashed oats with the machine and we thrashed 46 bu of oats and in the afternoon we thrashed 100 bu of oats and I went down to the school picnic it was the last day of school and we had a lot of fun us boys had some fun playing ball and it is a pretty cloudy day pretty warm day.

Aug. 18 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon glenroy & pa drawed straw and stacked it up on top of the knoll front of the house and we got done thrashing oats for now 2 stacks 305 bu they was and in the after george & pa & I finished stacking straw 2 stacks up on the knoll and the boys played base ball but I ditten go we drawed l load of peas george and I thrashed a few and it is a pretty cloudy rained some to pretty warm.

Aug. 19 – I helped to do the choirs and pa & orrie & eliza went down to argyle to church to the U.P. and they herd a sermon by Reverent mr ** and his text was in ** and emma annie & I stayed at home and kep house and it is a pretty warm very clear and warm.

Aug. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george started to plow for rye in the follow and pa & I * some peas and george & I thrashed 2 loads of them and a little more and after supper pa plowed some in the follow and it is a nice pleasent day and pretty warm day at night emma & orrie went over to granpas.

Aug. 21 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george plowed in the follow and pa and I drawed some rails and fenced one of the straw stacks and we drawed 3 loads of barks & sticks and in the afternoon we finished thrashing peas and we cleaned them up and they was 8 bu and george plowed some in the follow & I dug some potatoes in the garden and it is a nice pleasent day and pretty warm to.

Aug. 22 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george plowed in the follow with the grays and pa went out to fort Edward and emma went with him and the took 2 crocks of butter and they got a barrel of floor $ll and in the afternoon george & I thrashed rye 12 doxen pa plowed after supper and it is a nice pleasant day pretty warm and clear to some dry.

Aug. 23 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george plowed in the follow and pa drove old charley horse down to argyle to get shawed and in the afternoon george & I thrashed rye 8 Doxens and after supper george plowed in the follow and a man came here to sell a sewing machine and we bought one 40 dollars Davises (?) machine and it is a very hot day pretty clear and george ditten work. Aug. 24 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I took out a load of straw rye straw at 10 dollars a ton and we had on over 1800 and we brought home some hemlock boards and pa bought a dog a pup 9 months old at 7.00 Dollars and george has got a sore wrist so as he coulden work and it is a nice pleasent day pretty cloudy though and pretty warm to.

Aug. 25 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa plowed in the follow and I plowed some to and Datis Strever came over to get some oats 42 bu he got and in the afternoon uncle alexander and aunt kate came up a visiting they came up a little before noon and I dug some potatoes over in the garden and picked them up and it is a pretty cloudy day and it rained quiet a lot in the afternoon pretty warm.

Aug. 26 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice warm day pretty cloudy in the mouring but most of the day it was pretty clear and george ditten work yesterday because he had a sore rist it was a little better last night I believe and our cattle young cattle got into Dock kinneys field.

Aug. 27 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george plowed in the follow and pa and I measured up some oats and we cut some weeds down along the road and pa cut them over in the garden and in the afternoon george & I thrashed rye 19 Doxens and after supper pa plowed in the follow and it is a nice pleasent day pretty clear and warm to & georges rist is about well.

Aug. 28 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george finished plowing in the follow and the girls and I put the calfs up in the little meadow and we picked some elder berries and pa went to fort edward and took a load of oats 90 bu and brought home some timber and in the afternoon george & I thrashed some rye 4 Doxen and george commenced to plow down the road in that field by glenroys and it is a nice pleasent day very hot and clear.

Aug. 30 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa finished sowing rye in the follow and I dragged in the follow and george plowed in that field down in the road and in the afternoon pa finished Dragging in the follow and george and I thrashed rye 15 Doxens and we all loaded up a load of rye straw and it is a nice warm day pretty cloudy though.

Aug. 31 – I helped to do the choirs and pa and I took a load of rye straw and we had on over 1800 at 9.00 a ton and we brought home some lumber for the corn house and we got 2 new corn knifes and george plowed most all day down the road in that field but he thrashed a little rye and it is a nice warm day some cloudy and some clear.

Sept. 2 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma orrie annie & I went to church and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr stephens and his text was John l chapter 12 verse and eliza stayed at home and kep house and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear and pretty cool to.

Sept. 3 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I thrashed about 8 Doxens of rye and cut some corn in that little field by the barn & pa mended my boots and in the afternoon pa took a load of oats out to the fort and he had on over 86 bu and george and I cut corn in that field by the barn and it is a pretty cloudy day and it rained some.

Sept. 4 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I & pa cut corn in that field by the barn and we got done their and started to cut up on the side hill and in the afternoon george and I pulled the beans up on top of the hill and brought them down and then we all cut corn on the side hill a while and it is a nice cool day some cloudy & clear.

Sept. 5 – I helped to do the choirs and we all went to the fair out between fort edward and sandy hill and we all had a nice time and we drove frank and Doll and george ditten work and he went to the fair to and we started about 7 o clock and got home about 6 o clock and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy though and it is nice and cool to.

Sept. 6 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I cut corn up on the side hill and pa cut bushes around the fences and in the afternoon george and I cut corn up in the same place and pa cut some bushes and after supper pa helped us to cut corn a while and it is a pretty cloudy nice and cool to some clear.

Sept. 7 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george cut corn up on the side hill and pa annie and I took a load of rye and oats out to fort edward we had on 21 bu of oats and 36 bu of rye and then went up to the fairground and seen the soldiers march and in the afternoon george thrashed some rye & cut some corn and it rained some and it is a pretty cloudy day.

Sept. 8 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I finished cutting corn up on the sidehill and started cutting corn down in the little meadow and pa cut some brush along the fences and in the afternoon george & I cut corn in the little meadow and pa went down to argyle & took emma down & he got some grapes to John Mcneils and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm.

Sept. 9 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie and I went to church and we herd a sermon by rev mr Stevenson and his text was first thesslonans 5 chapter and emma and annie stayed at home and kep house and eliza went down to argyle to church and it is a nice

pleasent day pretty warm and some cloudy pretty day now.

Sept. 10 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I cut corn down in the little meadow and pa cut some brush along the fences and in the afternoon pa and annie took some wool up to the factory at Hartford and brought it back again  got it carded and george & I got done cutting corn in the little meadow and started to cut on round hill and it is a pretty warm day pretty cloudy.

Sept. 11 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I cut corn on round hill and uncle Tom H came over to build the corn house and he brought the slate over to slate it & pa & him worked at it and in the afternoon george and I finished cutting corn but a little pop corn and pa went down to bedlam to get some nails & he got a potatoe hook  and pa & uncle tom H worked a the corn house and it is a nice warm day pretty cloudy though.

 

Sept. 12 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all cut some trees down in the woods along the road bar sleepers & we all worked on the corn house some and in the afternoon george and I dug potatoes up on top of the hill earley rose and we picked up 20 bu of them and pa & uncle tom worked on the building and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear and pretty warm.

Sept. 13 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I dug potatoes up on top of the hill and pa went out to ft edward after some lumber for the corn house and in the afternoon george and I picked up some potatoes 32 bu and we dug some & pa & uncle tom h & pa worked on the corn house and it is a nice pleasent day very warm pretty clear.

Sept. 14 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I dug potatoes up on top of the hill and picked up 18 bu. and brought them down to the house and uncle tom H & pa worked at the corn house all day about and in the afternoon george and I picked up 32 bu. of potatoes and dug some up on the same place and it is a nice pleasent very warm and clear & dry and pa bought some potatoes of mr lily at 40 cents a bu.

Sept. 15 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I dug potatoes up on top of the hill & pa helped us to pick them up they was 32 bu and in the afternoon pa went down to argyle and emma went with him and george & I  dug potatoes up in the same place & pa and I helped to pick them up & they was 28 bu 60 in the whole and it is a pretty warm day pretty clear & dry.

Sept. 16 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie eliza and annie went to church and they herd a sermon by Reverent mr Stevenson and his text was in the 14 chapter of John and emma and I stayed at home and kep house and it rained a little in the mouring and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear.

Sept. 17 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I dug potatoes up on top of the hill and picked them up & they was 21 bu and pa & uncle tom H worked on the corn house & they slated most of it and in the afternoon george & I finished digging earley rose potatoes and they was 17 bu & we commence to dig Jackons and it was a pretty cloudy day pretty warm.

Sept. 18 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I dug out the rest of the Jackons potatoes up on top of the hill and uncle tom H & pa worked on the corn house all day about and in the afternoon we picked up them potatoes they was 32 bu and then we pulled beans up on the side hill & pa helped some and we pulled 2 loads & drawed them in the barn and it is a nice pleasent day pretty cool at night pa & I went down to bedlam.

Sept. 19 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george & I husked some corn in that field by the barn & pa helped to & then george & I pulled beans until noon and uncle tom H & pa finished the corn house and then fixed & made some other little things and in the afternoon george & I got done pulling beans and then pa and us husked some corn in that field and it is a nice pleasent day some warm to.

Sept. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma and orrie went to church and they herd a sermon by Reverent mr stevenson and pa and I husked corn a while in the mouring 29 shocks and george ditten work he went away to a wedding and a man came here and stayed all night and his name was joseph and it is a nice pleasent day and it is some warm.

 

 

Sept. 21 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I husked some corn out in that field by the barn and pa helped & george & I thrashed some of the beans and in the afternoon george & I finished thrashing the beans and we husked some and pa went up to belcher & got my pota hook and got it fixed over it is a nice one and it rained some and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear.

Sept. 22 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george pa & I dug sizes potatoes up on top of the hill and we dug & picked up 35 bu and in the afternoon george & I picked up the rest that we dug in the forenoon and we dug some & they was 20 bu & pa emma & orrie went to church* & when they came home george pa & I drawed in 3 bags of corm in the stalk into the barn and it is a nice pleasent day some warm some cool a little frost.

Sept. 23 – I helped to do the  choirs and pa orrie emma and I went to church and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr Stevenson and his text was in romans 8 chapter and 35 verse and it is sacrament sabbath and eliza and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasent day some warm and some cool to pretty clear.

Sept. 24 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george pa and I husked corn in that little field by the barn and in the afternoon george and I dug potatoes up on top of the hill and pa went down to argyle & emma & annie went down with him and he brought up the wagon and we picked up 40 bu of them and 2 fellows came here ** beds and it is a nice pleasent day some warm.

Sept. 25 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa george and I husked corn in that little field by the barn and in the afternoon we all finished digging potatoes up on top of the hill and the girls helped us to pick them up and they was 40 bu of sixes and we have got all done up on top of the hill and it is a nice pleasant day pretty warm & clear.

Sept. 26 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa george and I husked corn in that little field by the barn & put it into the box and in the afternoon we drawed in that load that we husked and a nother load and we dug out what potatoes that was in that little field by the barn 8 or 10 bu and we drawed in 2 loads of corn in the stalk into the barn and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm.

Sept. 27 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george pa and I husked corn down in the little meadow and we husked the box most full and in the afternoon we finished husking the load out 40 bu  then we commenced to dig potatoes on the round hill and we picked them up and they was about 30 bu  sixes potatoes and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy pretty warm.

Sept. 28 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all commenced to cut the buckwheat down on the round hill and it came on rain so we quit and went at husking corn in the barn and in the afternoon we all husked corn in the barn most of the time over 45 bu and it rained quiet a lot pretty cloudy day but it is pretty warm.

Monday,  October 1, 1877 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all dug potatoes on round hill and we picked up 35 bu of them and in the afternoon pa picked a few (3) barrels of apples and george and I dug potatoes and the girls and pa helped to pick them up we picked up 35 bu and it is a nice pleasent day some - - and it is pretty warm and clear.

Oct. 2 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all dug potatoes on round hill and we picked up 30 bu and in the afternoon we dug some and we drawed in 2 loads one 30 bu and the other 25 bu and the girls helped us to pick them all up and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm and pretty clear to and pa picked some apples in the afternoon 2 or 3 barrels.

Oct. 3 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all dug sixes potatoes on round hill and we picked them up and they was 35 bu and we dug some Jaxons and it the afternoon we dug Jaxons and pa picked some apples & we picked up 35 bu of them and the girls helped us to pick them up and it is a nice pleasent day and it is pretty warm & clear.

Oct. 4 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all dug potatoes on round hill and the girls helped us to pick them up and we drawed in 3 small loads of corn in the stalk from the side hill and in the afternoon george & I husked corn in the barn & pa went to meeting around by bedlam and it rained a lot and it is a pretty cloudy day and warm to.

Oct. 5 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all dug potatoes on round hill and we picked up 30 bu of them and in the afternoon we finished digging Jaxons and picked them up they was 25 bu and then we commenced to dig sixes and we dug 30 bu and the girls helped us to pick them all 85 bu and it is a pretty cool day some cloudy pretty clear at night pa was some sick.

Oct. 6 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all dug potatoes on round hill and we picked them up and they was 35 bu and the girls helped us to pick them up and in the afternoon george & I raked & set up the buckwheat on round hill and pa emma & orrie went to mr haggards funral & on down to argyle and it is a nice pleasent day pretty cool to & pas is better.

Oct. 7 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma and eliza went down to argyle U.P. church and they herd a sermon by Reverent mr cain and the drove the black horse and orrie annie and I stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy pretty clear though and some cool.

 

 

Oct. 8 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all dug potatoes on round hill and we picked up 40 bu of them and in the afternoon we finished digging the potatoes on round hill and we have got all done digging potatoes & we drawed in 2 Jags* 115 the other 25.80 in the whole and the girls helped us to pick them up and it is a pretty cloudy day we stacked one rack of stalks.

Oct. 9 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all husked corn in the barn and in the afternoon we all husked corn in the barn most of the day I took out some pumpkin seeds and it is a pretty rainy day and pretty cloudy to but pretty warm though and george pa and I went down to school meeting James Mcneil was trustee & george war** collector.

Oct. 10 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I drawed 2 loads of pumpkins and husked some corn down in the little meadow & pa emma and orrie went out to fort edward and they took 2 crocks of butter and they got a barrel of flour and me a pair of gloves and in the afternoon we all husked down their in the little meadow and it is a pretty warm day some cloudy.

Oct. 11 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all husked corn down in the little meadow and in the afternoon we all husked some corn down their to make out pretty near a load and we drawed it up and on loaded it & pa & george sat up the buckwheat and I took the wagon down their and it rained a little in the mouring and pretty warm to.

Oct. 12 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all husked corn down in the little meadow and put it into the wagon and in the afternoon we all husked some finished the load out about and we got all done husking down their but 7 shocks and we sorted the corn out up in the wagon house and it rained some in the afternoon pretty cloudy some warm.

Oct. 13 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all husked corn up on the side hill and put it into the wagon and in the afternoon george husked corn up their and he finished the load out 45 bu and pa emma & I went down to argyle and when we got back we drawed in the load of corn and on loaded it and it is some cloudy & some cool & clear to.

Oct. 14 – I helped to do the choirs and we ditten go to church any where they was no meeting over to our church and we all stayed at home and kep house and it is a pretty cloudy day it rained a very little and it looked very much like rain and it is a pretty cloudy day pretty warm though cloudy wether.

 Oct. 15 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and george husked corn in the barn and annie orrie and I went out to the woods after chestnuts and got about 5 quarts and in the afternoon we red out the barn floor and drawed 3 Jags* of buckwheat and thrashed it and it is a nice pleasent day nice and warm I rote this for wednesday by a mistake big white frost last night.

Oct. 16 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we finished husking what corn they was in the barn and carried the corn in the corn house and in the afternoon we drawed in 4 Jags* of corn in the stalk and then we husked corn in the barn and we drawed the corn of from up on the side hill and it is a pretty cloudy day but it is pretty warm.

Oct. 17 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa & george stacked the stalks that was in the barn and all they was in that little field by the barn and we drawed in 3 Jags of corn in the stalk up on the side hill and in the afternoon pa picked a few apples and then we all husked corn in the barn and it is a pretty cloudy day but it is pretty warm though I rote this for monday by a mistake.

Oct. 18 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and george went over to uncle Daves to help to kill his pigs and I went down awhile to and in the afternoon we drawed 4 small loads of buckwheat and we thrashed most all of it but 2 small flareings and it is a nice pleasent day but it is some cloudy though and it is pretty warm.

Oct. 19 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we drawed in l small load of buckwheat and we thrashed it and cleaned up what buckwheat they was on the flore 17 bu & in the afternoon pa & emma went down to argyle and george and I husked what corn they was in the barn 20 bu & at night we all went down to the school house to a show pictures and electricity etc. & 15 & 10 (?) – and it is a pretty cloudy & rainy day warm.

Oct. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george and I thrashed rye 11 Doxens and we red up the barn flore and pa mended my boots and his to and in the afternoon pa & george and pa thrashed rye 11 Doxens 22 all day and I went up around the chestnut trees after chestnuts with orrie & annie we got 1½ quarts and it is a pretty cloudy & pretty rainy to part of the day and little cool.

Oct. 21 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house all day and they was no meeting over to our church that we knowed of and so we ditten go any other place to church and it is a very cloudy day cloudy all day and it is pretty cold to some windy to it rained after dark a lot I gess.

Oct. 22 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon george thrashed rye and I helped him some and pa helped him the rest of the time and in the afternoon george thrashed rye and I helped him most of the time and pa went down to bedlam and got the girls all a new pair of shoes and it is some cloudy and it snowed some and rained a little and it cleared of in the afternoon.

Oct. 23 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all drawed in 3 loads of corn in the stalk from round hill and we cleaned up the rye and they was 28 bu and in the afternoon pa and george husked in the barn and I helped some and I drawed l load of pumpkins and emma & orrie went over to granpas and it is a pretty cloudy day warm some and it froze some last night.

Oct. 24 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we husked what corn they was in the barn and carried the corn in the corn house they was 20 bu and pa & george stacked stalks and in the afternoon  we drawed in 3 loads of buckwheat all of it and we drawed in 4 loads of corn in the stalk from round hill all of the corn & the girls came home a foot & it is a pretty cloudy day pretty warm.

Oct. 25 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all husked corn in the barn and we husked 123 shocks & we put the stalks on a stack and in the afternoon pa took eliza down to hugh lants to weave the carpet and annie went with and george and I husked corn and we carried 40 bu in the corn house and it rained quiet a lot and it is cloudy & getting cooler.

 

Oct. 26 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all husked some corn in the barn and george & I drawed 2 loads of pumpkins and in the afternoon pa finished husking corn & george & I drawed 2 more loads of pumpkins and pa & george stacked the rest of the stalks out dores and it is a pretty cloudy day pretty cool to getting some warmer snowed little.

Oct. 27 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and george plowed & dug a ditch for the cricks to run different places 2 down in the little meadow & I drawed the pumpkins of round hill & little meadow little over a load and in the afternoon pa & emma went down to argyle & george & I finished drawing the pumpkins 2 loads and george finished digging the ditch and george has got through here and it is a nice day some warm some clear.

Oct. 28 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie and I went down to the covenenters (?) church most to bedlam the brick church and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr spear and his text was in John 14 chapter and the 18 verse and emma & annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm some cool & cloudy.

Oct. 29 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I drawed 11 load of manure in the field front of the house and 3 loads of buckwheat straw to bank the house and in the afternoon we drawed 5 loads of manure out in the same field and we banked part of the house and it is a nice warm day and it is pretty cloudy but quiet warm.

Oct. 30 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we took out some pumpkin seeds and pa went out to fort edward and he took out over six bu of rye and 2 barrels of apples and he got $3.50 a barrel for them & he got some oil to paint the corn house and he got back before night awhile and I drawed 2 loads of old rails and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy & warm to.

Oct. 31 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we drawed out all the manure that they was in the barn and scraped it to 5 loads and we drawed 2 loads of old wood from the swamp and in the afternoon we thrashed a little buckwheat that was on the flore and pa taped his boots and it rained most all afternoon and pretty cloudy day.

 

Thursday, November 1, 1877 -  I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa commenced to plow the lower follow that’s never been plowed before and I knocked some old stomps over and in the afternoon pa spred some manure up on the hill front of the house and he plowed some more down their & I took some seeds and glenroy & Levi is a thrashing the rye by the bu and it is a nice day some cloudy & some clear.

Nov. 2 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa went up to harvey reynolds to look at a sheep buck sheep and I ditten do much of any thing but pa and I took out some seeds and it rained all day about and it is a pretty cloudy it quit raining at night and levi & glenroy thrashed all day and they thrashed 30 Doxen.  

Nov. 3 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we drove up to harvey reynolds after a buck and pa plowed some down in the follow and in the afternoon  pa & annie went down after eliza and pa went on down to lakeville after the buckwheat and got some * and emma and orrie & I went down to argyle and I got a jak knife and drove old charly and it is a nice cool day very windy all day.

Nov.  5 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa plowed down in the follow & we fenced the stakes about and in the afternoon Charls cornell came over and took the job of thrashing the oats for 18 Dollars and pa plowed some down in the follow and levi and glenroy thrashed rye all day they thrashed  * Doxen and it is a pretty cool day & pretty windy some cloudy to.

Nov. 6 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa plowed down in the follow and I ditten do much of any thing and in the afternoon we went down to argyle we took a grist and got the colt shawd and it was lecton** and glenroy & levi finished thrashing the rye and it snowed some last night and it is a pretty cool day some clear & some cloudy.

Nov. 7 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa & I drawed out from in under the horsebarn 8 loads up on top of the hill the flat meadow and in the afternoon I took annie & emma up to Belcher to see a woman about cutting Dresses and pa plowed down in the follow & when I got back orrie and I pulled what turnips they was down in the little mead most a box full & it is a nice pleasent day pretty clear & warm to.

Nov. 8 – I helped to do the choirs and pa & I went out to fort edward and took out 34 bu of rye or over and over 11 bu of oats at 38 cents a bu and rye at 70 cents a bu and we got me a new cap  & a new pair of boots & a new  mittens and we got a new lantern some new books and we got home before night awhile and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm and it rained some about night quiet alot.

Nov. 9 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa plowed down in the follow and I toped (?) some turnips and in the afternoon pa plowed some down in the follow and I red out the corn house flore to put oats into and sorted the rest of the corn up in the wagon house and it is a pretty cloudy day it rained a lot last night but quiet warm though.

Nov. 10 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon the thrashers came  to thrash the oats Charles Cornell & Joe hannah and george & glenroy helped us and we thrashed 84 bu and in the afternoon we thrashed about 14 bu and then the machine broke down and we could do no more & so they went home and it is a pretty cloudy day & pretty cold and we red out the barn glen helped.

Nov. 11 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house and they was no meeting to our church and we ditten go no where else to meeting and it is a pretty cloudy day but it cleared off some in the afternoon and it is a pretty cool day and we saw a flock of wild geese going south.

Nov. 12 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we thrashed over to the hay barn and glenroy & george helped us and we thrashed 141 bu and they was 2 loads and in the afternoon we thrashed 191 bu I believe and they was 3 load and we got about done left a few oats and we brought the machine over to the house and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy & some warm.

Nov. 13 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we sat the machine and thrashed 130 bu and they was 2 loads and in the afternoon we all thrashed with the machine 152 bu of oats and we made 3 loads of it and at night charley cornell went home and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy some warm & some cool to.

Nov. 14 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon we all thrashed oats with the machine but charley he came about 10 oclock and we thrashed 138 bu and in the afternoon we finished thrashing oats and they was 40 bu but the scattering ones and george pa glen & I drawed 3 loads of straw in the horsebarn & 1 load in the barn we carried quiet a lot in. and it is a nice warm day some cloudy & some clear.

Nov. 15 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon glen pa & I drawed l load in the barn & one in the hourse barn & cleaned up the tailings oats over to the hay barn & they was 15 bu & drawed in 4 loads and in the afternoon we drawed in some straw here and some over yonder and cleaned the most of the oats over here the tailings and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear pretty warm though.

Nov. 16 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa glenroy & I cleaned over a lot of oats again about 100 bu or over and then we banked up part of the house and in the afternoon pa plowed down in the follow and I choired around took out some seeds and at night pa & I took mrs cunningham  home up to Belcher and it is a pretty cloudy rained in the forenoon some cleared off in the afternoon warm quiet warm.

Nov. 17 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon glenroy plowed in the follow and pa went out to fort edward he took out a load of oats 83 bu and emma went with him as far as argyle & stayed till he came back and in the afternoon glen & I drawed old wood of from the follow to his house 4 loads and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear pretty warm.

Nov. 18 – I helped to do the choirs and we all stayed at home and kep house and they was no meeting to our church and we ditten go to any other meeting and so we all stayed at home and it is a pretty cool day and it is some cloudy & some clear and it is pretty windy all day.

Nov. 19 – I went to school and it was the first day of school and they was 25 schollars their and we had a nice time and pa went out to the fort and he took a load of potatoes 44 bu about and he drawed loads of manure up on the meadow and in the afternoon glenroy plowed down in the follow and broke the plow & I helped to do the choirs and it is a pretty cool day & pretty windy to.

Nov. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and pa took another load of potatoes out to fort edward and he had on 49 bu about their att 50 cents a bu and I went to school & glenroy helped us to load up in the mouring & he got back before sun-down & it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy and it is pretty cool to froze hard last night.

Nov. 21 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and we finished loading up in the mouring and pa took a load of potatoes of to fort edward and he had on about 49 bu at

46 cents a bu and at night we loaded up most another load & to day pa took sixes and it is a nice pleasent day very clear some warm to cold at night & snowing.

Nov. 22 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and we finished loading up the load and pa took it out to fort edward and he had on about 53 bu at 55 cents a bu and he got home little after noon & we loaded up a nother load of early rose potatoes about and it is a pretty cloudy day getting warmer thawing looking like rain.

 

 

Nov. 23 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and we finished loading up the load of potatoes earley rose and pa took them out to the fort and he had on about 50 bu at 50 cents a bu and at night we sorted over a few earley rose potatoes and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear & pretty warm & it rained a little last night.

Nov. 24 -  I helped to do the choirs and glen pa and I loaded up a load of potatoes earley rose and they is a lot of rotten ones we sorted out about 15 bu of poor ones I gess and pa took a load out to the fort at 50 cents a bu and he had on about 50 bu and willie Williamson came up & painted the corn house once and it is a pretty cloudy day but warm & we took out some seeds.

Nov. 25 – I helped to do the choirs and pa eliza orrie and I went to church & we herd a sermon by Rreverent mr Williamson and his text was in luke & hebrews and emma and annie stayed at home and kep house and it rained quiet a lot and it is a pretty cloudy day but warm.

Nov. 26 – I helped to do the choirs and I ditten go to school and the black horse frank is sick and I went up after harvey Reynolds and glen came up to and he is very sick & about noon I went up mr. gilchrist and the black horse Died about 1 oclock and we buried him & glen pa & I cleaned over some oats and it is pretty cloudy day but quiet warm.

Nov. 27 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and pa glen & I load up a load of oats and pa took the load out to the fort and he had on about 94 bu and he got 38 cents a bu & he got a barrel of flour and he took 2 bags to get ground for feed and it is a pretty warm day some cloudy pa started about day light & got home about dark.

Nov. 28 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and pa plowed down in the follow in the forenoon and at noon he spred the rest of the manure in the field front of the house and he plowed down in the follow most of the afternoon and it is a nice warm day some clear & some cloudy and at night pa & I measured up some oats to clean over.

Nov. 29 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa plowed some down in the follow and I took out some seeds and in the afternoon pa & I drawed over 100 bu of oats over to the barn to clean up and we cleaned them all up and orrie helped us and we measured them up and it is a pretty cloudy day it rained some and at night it snowed quiet a lot.

Nov. 30 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and levi took up about 100 bu of oats up to theodore gilchrist and sold them at 36 cents a bu and in the afternoon pa plowed some down in the follow and it snowed about 2 inches last night here and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear pretty cool though.

 

Saturday, December 1, 1877 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa plowed some down in the follow and I took on some seeds and choired around and in the after- noon I took a small grist down to argyle and emma went with me and pa took one of the sows to high Reynolds to the boar and it is a pretty cloudy day cold to some clear to.

Dec. 2 – I helped to do the choirs and eliza went down to argyle to church and herd a sermon by Reverent mr cain to the U. P. church and all the rest of us stayed at home and kep house and they was no meeting to our church and we ditten go no where else to church & pa and I went up and got the sow and it is a nice pleasent pretty cold 7 above 0 zero in the mouring.

 

 

Dec. 3 – I went to chool and I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa drawed some manure up on top of the hill on the meadow from in under the horse barn and in the afternoon he drawed out some more manure and it is a pretty clool day some cloudy and some clear & at night pa & I carried some potatoes in a nother bin in the horse barn sellar I scouped & pa carried them.

Dec. 4 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and in the forenoon pa killed a sheep and drawed 2 load of manure up on the hill and in the afternoon glen put his colt in with the cream & pa & him went down to bedlam & they was looking at a horse their & at night pa & I went down to the chool house to a school meeting the voted to have the new books and it is a nice day warmer some cloudy.

Dec. 5 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and pa & glenroy went up to the woods and sawed a big tree and they quit before noon because it rained and in the afternoon pa cut some old wood in the wagon house for the kettle and it is a pretty cloudy day and it rained quiet a lot and the snow is all off about.

Dec. 6 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and pa and glenroy went up to the woods and sawed to big oak trees in the forenoon and in the afternoon they finished sawing them and they split some and it is a nice warm day and it rained about all last night I gess and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear.

Dec. 7 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and pa & glenroy went up to the woods to cut down chestnut trees & saw them & in the afternoon pa & glen cut & split some wood & cut and sawed four chestnut trees for rails altogether and at noon pa came down to the school house & madden brought up the books and we changed with him & the schollars to and it is some cloudy pretty cool to.

Dec. 8 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa & I measured up about 50 bu & drawed them over the barn & cleaned them over orrie helped some & we drawed one load of old wood and in the afternoon I took emma & eliza down to argyle & pa cut some old wood and it is a pretty cloudy day and it is cool to some clear.

Dec. 9 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie emma and I went to church and Levi went with us and we herd a sermon by Reverent Mr Kernedy and his text was philippens 4 chapter and 4 verse in the forenoon & in the afternoon it was luke 13 chapter 24 verse last claws & part clawes of the 25 verse & eliza and annie stayed at home & kep house & it is a nice pleasent day pretty cool though.

Dec. 10 – I helped to do the choirs and it is a nice day but vbery cloudy day getting warmer and it snowed some at night and I went to school and in the forenoon pa made a beetle and in the afternoon pa went up to the woods and split some cord wood and at night pa & I cleaned up about 50 bu.

Dec. 11 – I went to school and in the forenoon pa cut and split some cord wood up in the woods oak trees and in the afternoon he finished splitting them at night Datis striver & his wife & lydia Miss bennet from fort edward came over and we had a nice time and it is a pretty cloudy day and it snowed some last night but it all went of.

Dec. 12 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and in the forenoon pa loaded up a grist to take to the mill down to bedlam & in the afternoon he took it down to bedlam & brought it back with him & it is a nice pleasent day some warm very nice & pleasent some warm to and in the mouring pa & I took a load of stalk over to the hay barn & drawed out a load of straw out in the field.

 

Dec. 13 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and pa went down to uncle Daves to help him to kill his bull in the forenoon and in the afternoon pa plowed down in the follow and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy though and some windy to pretty warm and at night pa & I cleaned up about 50 bu of oats.

Dec. 14 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa killed a sheep and he cut some wood & put it in the sellar and he put up the stove in the horse barn sellar and it is a nice pleasent day but windy and pretty cool and at night pa & I cleaned up about 50 bu of oats.

Dec. 15 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa & I drawed up quiet a lot of old wood apple tree wood and pa went up to sarrah mary Reynolds frunal and uncle john and aunt sally ann & fanny came over here a visiting and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy hazying but quiet warm to.

Dec. 16 – I helped to do the choirs and pa orrie emma and I went to church and levi went with us and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr caniday and his text was in the acts in the forenoon and in the afternoon it was the 90 psalm and the first verse and eliza & annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice pleasent day very warm thawing all day some cloudy.

Dec. 17 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa & I cleaned up some oats & pa drove l of the sows up to high reynolds and in the afternoon pa plowed down in the follow and he got it all done but the steepest place and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy but it is quiet warm and thawing.

Dec. 18 – I went to school in the forenoon and I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa drawed some old wood and part of uncle tom Hs children came over here and in the afternoon pa went to Mr haggards vendue I went down to and pa bought a colt for $100 Dollars .3 coming 4 years old it is bay collar and it is a nice pleasent day pretty cool air though.

Dec. 19 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa drawed the rest of the old wood & put it in the wagon house & he drawed 1 load of old rails and in the afternoon he chored around and at night we all went down to singing school but eliza ditten go and we had a nice time and it is a pretty cloudy day rained some thawing warm.

Dec. 20 – I helped to do the choirs and I went to school and in the forenoon pa and I took some stalks over to the hay barn and drawed some straw out in the field and in the afternoon pa & glen drove the colt and old charley down to bedlam and the colt fred drove good and it is a pretty cloudy day cleared off cold at night.

Dec. 21 -  I went to school and in the forenoon I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa took the pumpkin seeds at 5 Dollars a barrel 2 2/3 barrels and in the afternoon pa and I drove the colt and old charley around the square and down to

mcauleys and 2 fellows came after the straw and they loaded up and stayed all night & it is a nice pleasent day some warm thawing some.

Dec. 22 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon pa and I drove the colt and old charley down to lakeville and we took a bag of buckwheat to get ground into flour and eliza rode down to hugh lants and stayed till we came back it was most night when we got back and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm I split some kindle wood.

 

 

Dec. 23 – I helped to do the choirs and pa emma orrie and I went to church and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr. canady and his text was philippins 21 chapter 15 & 16 verse part of them in the forenoon & in the afternoon his text was Haggai 2 chapter 19 verse last claws & eliza and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a pretty cloudy day pretty cool to.

Dec. 24 –  I went to school in the forenoon and pa cut some old wood down in the woods and in the afternoon pa and glen started to drive the two colts down to argyle and the almost ran away down the eliza & orrie & glen was in & pa had hold of the heads & the barrels & wagon run over pa & broke one of his ribs & glen went after the doctor & glen & I drove colt to bedlam nice day.

Dec. 25 – I helped to do the choirs and in the forenoon emma orrie annie & I went over to granpas and we had a nice time and eliza & pa stayed at home & kep house and pa is not much better at night john armstrong & his wife came down to see pa & they stayed quiet a while and it is a pretty frosty & cloudy day some cold to and --(it ends here, with no mention of it being Christmas day).

Dec. 26 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and glen helped me to do the choirs and in the afternoon glenroy uncle tom H & high * hitched up the cream & the colt fred and drove them down to bedlam and back and pa is a little better not much & at night the girls and I went down to singing school and it is a pretty cloudy day some clear warm some cleared of at night Johnny Reynolds came down at night so see pa.

Dec. 27 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and in the afternoon one of the straw men came back after the rest of the straw & glen & him loaded up and it is a small load and at night uncle John C came up to see pa and stayed for supper and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy not very cold either and pa is a little better of any thing.
Dec. 28 – I went to school and I helped to do the choirs and glen helped me and pa is some better not quiet so sore and uncle Dave and glen drove the cream & colt fred and they got 2 shoes on the cold forward and at night george shepard his wife & georgie came up and we had a nice time and it is a nice pleasent day some cloudy some warm to.

Dec. 29 – I helped to do the choirs and glenroy helped me and pa is a bout the same not much better and in the forenoon I went down to argyle & orrie & eliza went with me and I took a small grist and left part of it and when I came home glenroy & I carried the rest of the rye straw into the barn and it is a pretty cloudy day foggy to and some cool to some clear in the mouring.

Dec. 30 – I helped to do the choirs and glenroy eliza orrie annie and I went to church and we herd a sermon by Reverent mr kenady and his text was soloman 5 chapter 2 verse l claws and in the afternoon it was corinthians 15 chapter 23 verse l claws and emma & pa stayed at home and kep house & pa is some better not much and it is a pretty cloudy & cold day some frosty.

Dec. 31 – I went to chool and I helped to do the choirs and pa is a little better not much though he is a gaining some and it is a pretty cold day some cloudy to but some clear & it snowed some not hardly any though and we have come to the close of another year now begins 1878.”
