            Tues. Jan 1: " A Happy New Year to you In the morning I got up early & done the chores & Billy came up early & we loaded up a load of potatoes and Billy took the load out to Glens Falls 48 bu at 55¢ per bu. and I chored around all day cut a little wood up  back in the woods and Billy got home a little after dark nice wheeling now roads are smooth & hard and it is a nice day some  cloudy windy & cool got quite cold at night."

            Wed. Jan 2: " In the forenoon I chored around & sorted some potatoes and in the afternoon Georgia & the children took Orrie, Eva & Lucy down home at West Hebron and got the mail and I chored around & before night a little John Kane & Bert Robinson came here with the machine to shred the corn fodder & got the machine nearly sat up. and it is a cold day windy too. nearly zero at night. Sheep was out in the field.

            Thurs. Jan 3: " John Kane & Bert Robinson Shreded corn fodder nearly all day & Rob Sloan & I waited on them they had a carrier & put it up in the shed over the cows and it is a very cold day nearly zero all day in shade cold with wind but the wind shifted but was cold nearly zero at night. At night John & Bert went up to Belcher they drove Maud Horse. No signs of sleighing yet good bottom now."

            Fri. Jan 4: " John Kane & Bert Robinson shreded stalks all day & Bob Sloan & I helped or waited on them they had a carrier & run the cut feed up in the shed over the cows and they got done at night or all I am going to get cut they charged me $10 for 2 days work & not very long days either. and it is a cold day & a cloudy day looked like snow but cleared off at night"

            Sat. Jan 5: " In the morning I carried the cutter or shredder up to Bussenos and then came back & put up a grist & in the afternoon I took the grist down to Argyle & attended the Annual meeting of the Butter Factory & came away before they elected their officers it got so late. and it is a nice pleasant day but cold nearly zero at night. nice roads hard as stone."

            Sun. Jan 6: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & we stayed for Sabbath school and we went back at night to the church and heard a nother sermon by Mr. McEachron and it is a nice day some cold."

            Mon. Jan 7: " I got up early & done the chores intending to take a load of Rye Straw but it snowed some & looked like it so much that I didn't go. So I sorted a few potatoes and helped the Sloan boys to clean up what oats they had threshed 68 bu. and it is a stormy day but didn't snow over 2 inches I guess. At night we all went over the church & heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron."

            Tues. Jan 8: " I done the chores & Rob Sloan helped me to load up a load of Rye Straw & I took the load over the Keyworths at $11 per ton & when I got back I helped Rob to thresh some & we loaded up a load of Rye Straw & it is a nice day some cloudy and at night we all went over to the church & heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and about 12 o'clock we heard it raining & I got up & took the team & drawed the load of Rye Straw in on the barn floor it was raining in torrents."

            Wed. Jan 9: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then took a load of Rye Straw over to Keyworths and when I came back I sent Georgia & the children up to Weirs to get Maud shawd or Sharpened. It was terrible icy when I went rain had foozen & Hugh Sloan came up & helped me to put on the other load of Rye Straw & then I took it over to Keyworths the last load & Georgia & the children up to Weirs to get sharpened it is a nice pleasant day warm & thawed some some muddy in places now and it got colder at night."

            Thur. Jan 10: " In the morning I got up early & carried the water and Johnnie & his man brought their old sow down & killed her Rob Sloan helped us she weighed 420 # ours weighed 412 # & 386 # and we cut them in to & carried them in the cellar and it is a pretty cloudy day & snowed nearly all the time about 4 inches not very cold. at night Billy & I measured up some Buckwheat."

            Fri. Jan 11: " In the morning Billy came up & put his horse in with one of mine & took my sleighs & took the Buckwheat down to East Greenwich & got it floured and I am about sick layed around nearly all day and barely got the chores done. Billy found pretty good sleighing it looks some like rain. snow packed some at night it is snowing more. not very cold. some wagons going."

            Sat. Jan 12: " In the morning I was better and I took some side pork up to Belcher to John Gibsons 136½ # at 8¢ per # and got some salt to pack the hams & shoulders and in the afternoon I took a grist down to West Hebron & got the most of it and I got my marker home & it is nice sleighing now all sleighs now it snowed last night & part of the forenoon about 8 inches guess but dry. it got colder & cleared off at night."

            Sun. Jan 13: " We all went to church & went in a sleigh all sleighs now we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was the last clause of the last verse (31) of the 14 chapter of John. and we stayed for Sabbath school and a cutter runs nice & it is a beautiful day pleasant but cool thawed a little in sun."

            Mon. Jan 14: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & Billy came up & after the sun was up awhile we loaded up a load of potatoes & Billy took them out to Glens Falls at 50¢ & had to take part in trade they were sold for 55¢ but he backed out. Collins & Bush and I helped Georgia to cut up the sausage meat & we got it all cut & I sorted a few potatoes at night I drove up to Will Murdocks & got a young Gobbler at 10¢ per # and it is a nice pleasant day cold though some cloudy at night."

            Tues. Jan 15: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then loaded up a load of potatoes & took the load down to Salem 47 bu at 45¢ per bu and it is fine sleighing a lot of potatoes going into market and I got home about 2 o'clock and chored around made a pickle for the meat & packed it and it is a pretty cloudy day some warm & thawing too some. Rob Sloan is threshing oats for me every day about."

            Wed. Jan 16: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then went down to Barkleys lake & helped Johnnie to draw ice we got 3 loads each & then it came on rain so I came home & Georgia & the children went up too and it was a heavy South wind & it just cut the snow & sleighing it wasted fast but at night it quit raining & cleared off & got some colder but not much."

            Thur. Jan 17: " In the morning I put up a grist and took it down to West Hebron & left it and it was good sleighing nearly all the way and it is rather icy and I chored around & sorted some potatoes and I lost a good pig one of the fatening ones it would weigh 100 # alive nearly. & it is a pretty cloudy day some cool not thawing much to day."

            Fri. Jan 18: " In the morning Billy came up & went at chopping for me up in the back woods & I helped him to chop & we both cut wood all day in cord wood and in the afternoon Georgia & the children took Dan Horse up to Weirs to get sharpened & then went up to Belcher after some Kerosene and it snowed a little it is a cold day some cloudy & windy too at night it was cold nearly zero."

            Sat. Jan 19: " I chores around Bob Sloan came up we cleaned up the oats 96½ bu in all and in the afternoon I took his half down to West Hebron & got the mail & a grist that I had down there and it is a cold day raw wind but sunny & pleasant below zero at night. Fair sleighing icy yet."

            Sun. Jan 20: " I went to church alone it was so cold that Georgia & the children stayed at home & I kept house and I heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and I came home at noon very cold day but the wind shifted & got in the south not so cold at night pleasant but some cloudy & looks some like snow. all sleighs yet around here"

            Mon. Jan 21: " We went at our ice Billy cut it Rob Sloan drawed it & sawed while Billy ate his dinner we got up 9 loads and it is a pretty cloudy day pretty soft too it snowed a little & rained a little too it thawed quite a lot South wind nasty to work with ice. warm at night."

             Tues. Jan 22: " I got cold in the night & frooze hard and in the morning we went at the ice again Billy cut & I packed it & Rob Sloan drawed 9 loads & Johnnie came down & helped us to draw he drew 6 loads. He & Rob helped Billy to saw some and it is a grand day to work with ice just cold enough not to thaw & more so very cold on the lake wind blew from the north nearly zero at night. we have got all of our ice up 4 courses & about ½ of a nother."

            Wed. Jan 23: " In the morning I went over to James Barklys after some turkeys but didn't find what I wanted so came home without any & then I went down to West Hebron & up on top of the hill at Edd Beveridges & got a load of saw dust. & in the afternoon I covered the ice with sawdust put on all of the froozen saw dust that I had & drawed over a jag of oat straw to the horse barn and it is a nice day pleasant abut cold last night it is warmer at night."

            Thur. Jan 24: " In the morning I went at drawing wood from up in the woods down to the house and I got it all drawed down and drawed the apple tree wood that I cut up in the orchard & I have got up quite a pile and it is small wood as usual and in the afternoon Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail & it is a warm day & cloudy looks like a thaw it was warm & thawed some. Sleighing is poor in places wagons at West Hebron"

            Fri. Jan 25: " In the morning Billy came up & we cut wood all day up in the back woods in cord wood and it is a windy day cold wind from the north but it didn't freeze very hard & rather cloudy there is wagons & sleighs both a going by but a sleigh runs good around here."

            Sat. Jan 26: " I drawed up what wood we cut yesterday up in the back woods they was 9 loads sleigh box loads it is rather fine wood and it is fair sleighing around here I got done drawing the wood about 3 o'clock & then the children & I went down to West Hebron & got the mail & we went in a cutter but a lot of wagons down there good sleighing from here to West Hebron or good wagoning also nice day pleasant thawed a very little strong north wind. icy around here."

            Sun. Jan 27: " We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was  1 Timothy the 1 chapter & the last clause of the 1 verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and at night we went back & heard a nother sermon by Mr. McEachron and we went in a sleigh some wagons. pretty good sleighing most of the way. & it is a nice pleasant day cool thawed a very little good winter weather."

            Mon. Jan 28: " In the forenoon Billy came up & we chopped cord wood up in the back woods & in the afternoon Billy helped me to draw over 2 loads of straw & put them up in the horse barn & then I drove over to Billys farm & helped him to draw over his corn stalks and then I took the Hay Rack up to James Gibbon near Belcher to get repaired & left it and it is a pretty cloudy day & stormed a little most all day but it didn't amount to much. windy & cold."

            Tues. Jan 29: " In the forenoon I drawed up the rest of the wood that we had cut up in the back woods and I have got nearly enough wood up now I guess or about all I am going to get up now and in the afternoon I chored around fixed a shelter in the Hog pen for the pig to sleep in and drew out some ashes & put them around the young apple trees and Georgia & the children went up to Johnnies & up to Belcher and it is a pretty cold day cold at night too wagons & sleighs both going by good fair sleighing around here."

            Wed. Jan 30: " In the forenoon I chored around sorted potatoes most of the time and in the afternoon I chored around put up a grist & drove down to Argyle & paid my assessment on the Fire Insurance & it is a nice day it is cloudy & began snowing before night some cold day. I went in a sleigh & found petty good sleighing nearly all the way. Some wagons going. No sleighing down to Salem."

            Thur. Jan 31: " In the forenoon I sorted potatoes & chored around & in the afternoon I took a grist down to West Hebron and Georgia & the children went down to Orries & I went on down to Salem & got a load of coal for Orrie coal at 5.75 per ton. 1880 # & it is a cloudy day & snowed a little nearly all day and snowed quite a lot last night & it is cold snow is just like feathers and it is about 5 inches deep now."

            Fri. Feb 1: " In the forenoon I chored around & sorted a few potatoes and in the afternoon I went down to West Hebron & got my sleighs repaired & got my grist home & got the mail & it is a nice pleasant day only cold thawed a very little in sun nice sleighing again."

            Sat. Feb 2: " In the morning after I done the chores we all went a visiting over to Everett W's beyond West Hebron and stayed nearly all day and it is a cold day but pleasant thawed a little in the sun on the south side of the roofs cold at night too nice sleighing 15º below zero in places"

            Sun. Feb 3: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was John the 1 chapter & the 9 verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a cold day but pleasant clear night & day good sleighing & cold. At night we went back to the church & hear a nother sermon by Mr. McEachron pretty cold."

            Mon. Feb 4: " It is a stormy day it snowed last night and nearly all day it is pretty cold too. I chored around and sorted potatoes part of the day and it quit snowing about night but began again about dark nearly 6 inches guess At night they was a Cottage Prayer meeting held here they was about 30 present. had a good meeting and it was colder at night & the wind got up."

            Tues. Feb 5: " In the morning I went up on Coot Hill to Willett Gillis & got 2 Turkey hens and when I came back I helped The Sloan boys to clean up the oats they have got done threshing at last and in the afternoon I went down to Barkleys lake & helped Johnnie to draw ice I drawed 2 loads plenty of snow now it is a windy day drifting in places I found some drifts on my way home and it is a cold day. at night we all went over to the meeting house & heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron."

            Wed. Feb 6: " cold in the forenoon & chored around sorted some potatoes & in the afternoon I drawed over the oats & put the most of them in the bin & sorted a few potatoes and it is a pleasant day but cold good sleighing drifted in places. at night we all went over to the young peoples meeting at the church and it was cold & drifted some too it is a pleasant day only very cold."

            Thur. Feb 7: " In the forenoon I chored around and sorted some potatoes and in the afternoon I sorted a few potatoes & then went down to West Hebron & got the mail & Orrie & Eva came home with me to stay a few days and at night we all went over to the church & heard a sermon by Mr. Bovard of North Argyle and it is a clear & pleasant day but very cold winter weather."

            Fri. Feb 8: " In the forenoon I sorted potatoes sat around the house & read some & chored around and in the afternoon we all went over to the church & heard a sermon by Mr. Bovard and we went in the big sleighs and it is a nice clear & pleasant day only very cold zero weather at night I went down to W. S. Mahaffys & got a Turkey."

            Sat. Feb 9 : " In the forenoon I chored around & sorted a few potatoes and it is a pretty cloudy & cold day it snowed a little & in the afternoon we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McMichael of So. Argyle and his text was in the Psalms and it is cold at night snug winter weather no mistake & good sleighing."

            Sun. Feb 10: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McMichael of South Argyle and his text was in the 1 chapter of John and it was Sacrament Sabbath and it is a nice pleasant day sunny but cold winter weather. At night we all went back to the church and heard a sermon by Mr. McMichael again. cold."

            Mon. Feb 11: " In the forenoon I chored around & finished sorting potatoes and Johnnie & Mary came down and after dinner Johnnie & I went down to the Farmers Institute at Argyle & it was most night when we got home & it is a nice pleasant day but cold clear & sunny good sleighing."

            Tues. Feb 12: " In the forenoon I went down to Argyle to the Farmers Institute and stayed all day about and I got my dinner at Glenroys and it is a nice day only toward we had snow squalls some pleasant but cold winter weather fine sleighing."

            Wed. Feb 13: " In the morning I put up a grist and then I took it down to West Hebron & left it & Orrie & Eva went down home with me and in the afternoon I chored around sat around the house the most of the time and it is a pleasant day but very cold.cold west wind & it drifted last night in places."

            Thur. Feb 14: " In the morning after I done the chores I drove out to Fort Edward & left the horse & went up to Glens Falls on the Electric cars & tried to sell some potatoes I sold 1 load for 50¢ per bu. to be delivered within 2 weeks if the weather is favorable & I also sold 7 roosters at 12½¢ per # the potatoes to go to Mr. Lilone the chickens to Mr. Rickley and it is good sleighing drifted in places last night and it is cloudy & cold day I got home about 3½ o'clock and it is cold at night nearly zero."

            Fri. Feb 15: " In the forenoon I chored around & sawed some wood at the door and Uncle Tom H. came along & stopped for dinner and Uncle Martin Rogers folks & Mary Jane came down a visiting and about night I drove down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a nice day thawed a little but cold yet. some cloudy At night"

            Sat. Feb 16: " In the morning after I done the chores I sawed wood a while and then went down to Argyle to Town Caucus but their was no fight at all the Baker men had it all their own way H. Agustus McEachron for Supervisor and I got home early and after I got home I sawed & split some wood at the door and at night"

            Sun. Feb 17: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for Sabbath school & it is a nice warm day it thawed a little it is a pretty cloudy day. It snowed about 2 inches last night it looks some like snow at night."

            Mon. Feb 18: " In the morning after I done the chores we killed 7 roosters & dressed them & Billy came up & we made a trade he gives me $35 for house rent & I give him $13 per mo for half time and board. & Uncle Tom H came along & stopped & I hitched up my horse & we went down to Argyle to the foreclosure sale Joe Lindsays farm. W. D Stevenson was the buyer for $1200 and we got dinner when we came back and after he went home Georgia & the children went up to Johnnies awhile & I sawed & split wood at the door. & it is a nice warm day pretty cloudy but the sun came out about noon & thawed quite a lot in places on the main road."

            Tues. Feb 19: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Glens Falls 56 bu at 50¢ per bu. and it is poor sleighing out to the Falls. good  most of the way only in the villages & along the Beatty road and I got home about 5 o'clock and it is some cloudy not very cold. thawed quite a lot. cooler at night."

            Wed. Feb 20: " In the morning after I done the chores I went down to Argyle & got John Wandell he came up & fixed or cemented a place in the cistern & got done in a little while and I took him back home & I got home for dinner and in the afternoon I chored around and at night we all went down to West Hebron to a Minstrel show and it was a very good show and it is a pretty cool day pleasant but didn't thaw much. cold at night."

            Thur. Feb 21: " I went down and taught school at our school house and the teacher couldn't come for some reason and in the afternoon Ruby & Roscoe went with me and it is a nice pleasant day but cold winter weather clear & pleasant too but some windy."

            Fri. Feb 22: " In the morning after I done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Glens Falls and it is pretty fair sleighing back of the villages the main road is poor and I didn't get home till after dark & it is a cold day but pleasant most of the day and we heard that Glenroy is very sick."

            Sat. Feb 23: " In the morning after I done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Glens Falls at 45¢ per bu. and I went the back road & it was good sleighing but it is a long ways & I stopped going & coming & seen Glenroy & he is very sick with the Pneumonia. and it is a cold day but pleasant & didn't thaw much to-day."

            Sun. Feb 24: " In the morning Georgia went over to Uncle Martins for an errand for Glenroy & Aunt Kate came down with her & her & I went down to Glenroys at Argyle & stayed all day he is very bad all day we got home about 5 o'clock he was no better & Martin came over here after Kate and it is a cold raw winters day but pleasant."

            Mon. Feb 25: " In the forenoon I went down to see Glenroy is very sick and no better and I rode down with Uncle Tom H we got back here about noon & after dinner I took a grist down to West Hebron & got one I had there and it is a nice day cold & pleasant good sleighing around here at night Martin & Kate came over here & Aunt Kate & I went down to Glenroys & sat up & Uncle Martin stayed here."

            Tues. Feb 26: " In the morning I came away from Glenroys about 5 o'clock and he is not much better and I done the chores & Georgia & Uncle Martin helped me to load up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Glens Falls 41 bu at 45¢ per bu. and I stopped to see how Glenroy was he is about the same and I got home before sun down and it is a nice day thawed quite a lot the sleighing is good around here but about gone out to Glens Falls."

            Wed. Feb 27: " In the forenoon we all went down to Argyle to see how Glenroy was he is some better to day they think & so do I. and in the afternoon Georgia & the children went up to Johnnies & I went up on the hill back of West Hebron to George Randles & got a load of saw dust and it is a nice pleasant day but it is a cold winters day & some windy too.

            Thur. Feb 28: " In the morning after I done the chores I went up on the Hill at George Randles & got a load of saw dust & when I got back Sid Heath was here & he cut the horns of the bull & helped me to onload the saw dust & put it on the ice & in the afternoon I went down to West Hebron & got the mail and then went up on the hill & got another load of saw dust and Georgia & the children went down to Argyle & seen Glenroy he is on the gain & it is a cold winters day but pleasant very windy thawed some fair sleighing round here."

            Fri. Mar 1: " In the forenoon after I done the chores I sawed some wood & cut some limbs & split some wood & in the afternoon I drove down to Argyle to see Glenroy he is about the same gaining slowly & it is a pretty cloudy day snowed some nearly all afternoon. & windy too. wind blew the snow of the bear spots."

            Sat. Mar 2: " In the morning it was thawing but got colder before noon & kept getting colder all day very cold at night & in the forenoon I chored around and  in the afternoon I went down to West Hebron and took the buggies wheels & cart also to get repaired and it was cold & windy snowed a little. good sleighing around here."

            Sun. Mar 3: " In the morning after I done the chores I went down to Argyle & seen Glenroy he is gaining slowly but not able to sit up and when I got back we all went to church & heard a sermon by Mr. Wiley his text was 1st Thessilonians the 2 chapter & part of the 13 verse and we came home at noon and it is a nice pleasant day but very cold thawed a very little nice sleighing around here."

            Mon. Mar 4: " In the forenoon I chored around & cut & sawed some wood at the door and stayed with the children & Georgia went down to Argyle and took a dress to get made over or so & seen Glenroy he is about the same and in the afternoon I went up in the back woods & cut some rail timber & some limbs or small poles and it is a warm day rather cloudy & thawed quite a lot it started the water around here and at night Johnnie & Mary came down and brought their Hens to get smaked - at night Ruby was sick with Croup & we was up with her all night."

            Tues. Mar 5: " Before day light I went down to West Hebron after the Doctor for Ruby she didn't seem to get any better Croup hung on yet the Doctor has gone so I telephoned over to Argyle after one of the Doctors there & he got up here about 2 o'clock & I went up after Mary Williamson about 9 o'clock & she came down & stayed nearly all day & in the afternoon Johnnie came down & Mary went home with him & Ruby was Croupy all day but not bad she was some better and at night I went down to West Hebron to get Orrie but she didn't come so I got the mail & came home Billy came up & stayed all night. At night Ruby was some Croupy but not bad. last night is snowed about 4 inches stuck on the trees & it kept getting colder all day I didn't go to Town Meeting."

            Wed. Mar 6: " In the forenoon I chored around & stayed with the children & Georgia went down to Argyle to see about getting a dress cut and Ruby is some better and the Doctor came up and in the afternoon I chored around and sawed a little wood at the door and it is a very cold day for the time of year a snug winters day clear & pleasant too only some windy. good sleighing around here."

            Thur. Mar 7: " In the forenoon I snaked some chestnut or rail timber out of the back woods to down by the lower house and chored around and in the afternoon Billy came up to get me to draw a load of logs & we went over to his Farm & loaded up the load & I took the load down to North Argyle to the saw mill and Charley McGeoch took a load also with me & it is a cold winters day thawed a very little to cold for potatoes but good sleighing yet around here"

            Fri. Mar 8: " In the forenoon I went up to the back woods and cut some chestnut for rail timber & snaked it out & I cut the tops up into wood and in the afternoon I went to Charley Whites funeral & then I drove down to Argyle & seen Glenroy & he is gaining slowly & it is a warm & cloudy day thawed quite a lot it is poor sleighing in places. at night we all went over to the church to a Concert  & a sociable afterwards we went in the big sleighs."

            Sat. Mar 9: " In the forenoon I went up in the back woods & drawed down 2 loads of wood that I had cut and in the afternoon I drove down to West Hebron & got the mail & got some repairing done and the sleighing is fair yet. Our Minister is sick & there will be no preaching to morrow at our church."

            Sun. Mar 10: " There was no preaching at our church so we didn't go to any other church & stayed at home all day & kept house and it is a nice pleasant day some warm & thawed some sleighing is getting thin in places."

            Mon. Mar 11: " In the morning I drove down to West Hebron & got the old wagon repaired and then came home & it rained hard in the morning & nearly all afternoon I chored around & didn't do much but it is a cold rain & at night we all went up to John McKernons to a party & it turned to snow after dark & got cold water is high."

            Tues. Mar 12: " In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and I took them out to Glens Falls & I went in company with "Doc" Kinney and we went in a wagon pretty icy part of the way I didn't get home till after dark and it is a nice day some cloudy thawed up & was soft."

            Wed. Mar 13: " In the forenoon I took a small grist down to West Hebron and brought back one & Georgia & the children went up to Johnnies she left Roscoe & in the afternoon Georgia & Ruby went down to Argyle & I chored around sawed some wood and about Johnnie brought part of a load of potatoes down this far & left them & Roscoe came down with him and it is a warm day some cloudy pretty sloppy."

Mar 14: " In the morning I got up early and done the chores & then we loaded up a load of potatoes & Johnnie came along & we took them out to Glens Falls he got 50¢ for his & I get only 45¢ for mine and I got home after dark awhile & it was hard going some sleighs going It is a cloudy day. It snowed about 3 inches last night we went in Wagons  Billy Mooved over on his Farm to day"

            Fri. Mar 15: " It snowed all forenoon & thawed nearly as fast as it came and after dinner I went down to West Hebron & took my good wagon on the sleigh & left it to Rob Barkleys to get painted and & I took 4 barrels of corn to get ground and it is a nasty day soft it is very poor sleighing in places nearly all wagons now"

            Sat. Mar 16: " In the forenoon I snowed some & Georgia went down to Argyle to get her dress and she went in a sleigh and in the afternoon I drawed out some horse manure from under the Horse barn & drawed it up on the side hill in the Fallow and I sawed a little wood and it cleared off & was a nice day but was cold at night."

            Sun. Mar 17: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was in the 1st chapter of Acts and he has got better again and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is cold day thawed some we went in a wagon some sleighs too. it is cloudy & looks like snow"

            Mon. Mar 18: " In the morning I got up early and done the chores and then we loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Glens Falls 45 bu at 45¢ per bu. and I got out there before noon & nearly onloaded and it was very good wheeling going out but got very muddy when I was coming home it is a pretty cloudy day cool air but thawed a lot."

            Tues. Mar 19: " In the morning I went up to James Gibbons & got my hay rack I took sleighs but very poor sleighing and it was cold and in the afternoon I sawed some wood & chored around &  it is a cold raw winters day frooze hard."

            Wed. Mar 20: " In the morning after I done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Glens Falls and I didn't get out there till nearly 2 o'clock and was late in getting home good going only a little rough & get some muddy coming home but not bad and it was a cloudy day but was clear & pleasant in the morning. It began raining about bed time."

            Thur. Mar 21: " In the forenoon I chored around Billy came over & put up his corn & it rained nearly all the time & a lot last night water is high & in the afternoon we all went up to Johnnies a visiting it didn't rain but kept cloudy but cleared off at night & got some colder very muddy snow is leaving slowly."

            Fri. Mar 22: " In the forenoon I sawed some wood & put up a small grist and in the afternoon Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron to Orries & I took the grist down to West Hebron & left it & brought home one that I had down there and I went to Orries & we all stayed for supper and it is a cloudy cold raw day muddy going some ice in the road yet."

            Sat. Mar 23:" I sawed spilt & cut wood most of the day at the door chored around some and it is a nice pleasant day cool air in shade but thawed up & was very muddy bad roads now for awhile."

            Sun. Mar 24: " We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron and his text was 1 Chronicles the 22 chapter & the 14 verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and the roads are very muddy some ice yet and it is a cloudy day looked like rain all day & did rain once in awhile a little."

            Mon. Mar 25: " In the morning after I done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes and took them out to Glens Falls 46 bu at 45¢ per bu. and it was terrible going never got out there till 3 o'clock and didn't get home till after 9 o'clock and I brought home a barrel of Flour. and it is a nice day but some cloudy and it is very warm snow banks went fast to day frost is going out of the roads in places."

            Tues. Mar 26: " In the forenoon I chored around and drove up to Belcher & settled my acc't with John Gibson & drove on up & seen Tom P. Ripley he owed me $3 on a lamb and when I came back I chored around sawed some wood & it came on rain & it is a pretty cloudy day rained part of the day & a lot last night roads are very soft. Frost is coming out some holes now in the roads."

            Wed. Mar 27: " In the forenoon I sawed some wood at the door and Uncle Tom H's folks came over here a visiting and stayed till nearly night and it is a pretty cloudy day rained some and it is a very nasty day terrible muddy bad roads and at night John McKernon & Wife came down & spent the Evening it began snowing at night."

            Thur. Mar 28: " In the morning the ground was covered with snow about 3 inches & Johnnie & Mary came down & Johnnie & I killed the pigs 3 of them we put one of them in with the ones that I am going to keep and in the afternoon I drove down to West Hebron got the mail & it is hard wheeling snow & mud & at night I drove down to North Argyle & got my check for the potatoes that I shipped on McHays boat 20¢ bu = $80.40 and it is a cold raw winters day quite cold at night."

            Fri. Mar 29: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores and then I took the pigs out to Glens Falls 3 of them 309 # at 7¢ per # I took them in the Family wagon & drove one Horse & it was terrible rough going and I got home in good season and it thawed out but lots of snow yet & cold at night again."

            Sat. Mar 30: " In the morning I was sick but got better & in the forenoon I sawed some wood and chored around and in the afternoon we all went down to West Hebron on business got disappointed only twice and it is very muddy & hard traveling and it is a nice day some cold but warmer in the afternoon. after we came home I tapped some of the small maple trees by the house & 2 down to the lower house."

            Sun. Mar 31: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Deuteronomy the 33 chapter & the 3 verse and we stayed for Sabbath School this the day for reorganization. Mr. James Campbell for Superintendent & Frank Gibson for Assistant & Hattie Atkinson for Secretary and it is a cold raw windy day thawed out & sap run some very bad going."

            Mon. Apr 1: " I worked at the wood nearly all day sawed & cut and chored around I taped 2 more trees sap run very good to-day and it is very muddy going I got the wood pile nearly all sawed & it is a nice day frooze some last night some windy & cool air but the snow banks are wasting slowly."

            Tues. Apr 2: " I cut split & sawed wood most of the day at the door & carried some sap and sap run very good it frooze some last night & in the afternoon Georgia & the children went up to Johnnies & took some Buckwheat Flour and it is very muddy bad roads and it is a pretty cloudy day & cool air."

            Wed. Apr 3: " It rained nearly all forenoon & snowed part of the time and it rained some in the afternoon. In the forenoon I chored around & sat in the house most of the time & in the afternoon I chored around finished sawing & splitting wood and I gathered some brush up in the orchard and it is a cloudy day very muddy bad time for foddering cattle in our barn yard some cooler at night but not Freezing. Rye & grass looks good yet."

            Thur. Apr 4: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & Brindle cow had a calf and Old Black cow was sick she drank to much water & got chilled I think I gave her a dose of medicine & then I went down to Bob McFarlands & got a load of mooveing & when I got up this far I put the team in & fed them & got my dinner and then I took the load over beyond West Hebron in the town of Salem and when I came back I got the mail & brought home a grist with me & it came on rain when I was at West Hebron & I got home about 5 o'clock & it was a hard jaunt terrible roads It is a cloudy day & rained quite a lot about night."

            Fri. Apr 5: " In the forenoon I chored around and sat in the house & read some and in the afternoon I went up by the woods & split some rails & stakes and then trimmed some of the young apple trees & it is a cloudy day it rained last night it is a wet nasty time no mistake warm or not Freezing any the snow banks are getting pretty near melted away."

            Sat. Apr 6: " In the forenoon I chored around made some racks in the barn yard to feed the cows and chored around & in the afternoon I put in a hog trough in the Hog pen and gathered some brush up in the orchard and then drove down to West Hebron & got the mail & it rained some & it is terrible going roads are very soft nasty time no mistake."

            Sun. Apr 7: " It rained so we all stayed at home and didn't go to church and it rained a lot last night and the wind is in the north and is cooler and it rained more toward night & is cold enough for snow very wet time indeed"

            Mon. Apr 8: " In the morning the ground was covered with snow and in the forenoon I took a horse up to Weirs & got a shoe put on and in the afternoon I drove down to Argyle & made Glenroy a visit he doesn't get along very well he hasn't been out much yet and it is terrible going cloudy & rained now & then through the day the snow all went off in a little while the snow banks are getting scarce very wet time I found a Turkeys nest with 2 Eggs in the Hay mow.

            Tues. Apr 9: " The ground was covered nearly with snow in the morning but soon went off. In the forenoon Joe Lindsay came over to shear the sheep but they were wet & it was so cold & wet that he went home and I found a nother Turkeys nest with 3 Eggs over in Kinneys woods & a nother Turkey began laying in the barn. In the afternoon I didn't do much but sit around the House I am not feeling very well my bowels are troubling me some what . it is a gloomy day cloudy & rained more most all day but not very hard."

            Wed. Apr 10: " In the forenoon I chored around & it was stormy & I didn't do much and in the afternoon I fixed a little fence & trimed a few apple trees and chored around it snowed but thawed as it came. Will Sharpe came up of Argyle & bought my beef heifer at $26.50 I am to drive her down on Friday morning and get my money and it is a  nother cloudy day & stormy a very wet nasty time and we haven't been able to see the sun set clear in a long time."

            Thur. Apr 11: " In the morning after I done the chores I went over to Joe Lindsays to see if he could come over in the afternoon to help me to kill the Heifer or beef. I thought I could get her down easier than I could drive her down he could come & I trimed trees & chored around when I came back & in the afternoon we killed the beef  & I chored around the Beef was fat & nice . It is a pleasant day some cloudy but virtually cleared off after about 2 weeks it seems good to see the sun shining again. frooze some last night cool windy day drying up the wind fast to day."

            Fri. Apr 12: " In the morning after I done the chores I loaded the Beef in the Family wagon & then took it down to Argyle and got my pay $26.50 he didn't allow me anything for dressing her and in the afternoon I burned the brush up in the orchard and chored around & Georgia & the children went up home awhile and it is a beautiful day warmer & drying up fast some windy I got my Timothy seed at Argyle snow banks are nearly gone"

            Sat. Apr 13: " In the morning I sowed the grass seed on the rye and cleaned out the back house and got out the stone boat & Truck wagon & drawed 2 load of manure up on top of the hill in the Fallow hard & soft drawing & in the afternoon I drawed a few stone from the field cross from the barn and then I started the plow for the first some wet but drying off fast. Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a beautiful day warm & clear drying up fast Horses sweat bad as summer. Snow banks are scarce"

            Sun. Apr 14: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Matthew the 25 chapter & the 29 verse & he was about sick and we stayed for Sabbath school and the roads are drying up fast & leaves them rough and their is some bad holes. Jude cow had a calf to-day the Lambs began coming to day or last night. The last snow bank disappeared to day in sight of here."

            Mon. Apr 15: " I plowed most of the day in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon Morg Peacraft came along & took one of the calves at 5¢ to be taken in 1 or 2 weeks and it is a pretty cloudy day some cooler & windy North East wind good day to plow. I more lamb came"

            Tues. Apr 16: " In the forenoon Joe Lindsay came over & went at shearing the sheep and he got 30 shore and I plowed all day up on the side Hill cross from the barn & I done up the most of the wool and it is a nice day pleasant but cool wind nice day to plow. 3 more lambs came 1 pr of twins but one was nearly dead but got up & Joe took it home."

            Wed. Apr 17: " In the morning Joe came over & shore the rest of the sheep 6 of them and I plowed nearly all day on the side hill cross from the barn and I got it all plowed and it is a nice pleasant day warmer but cool air north east wind and it is a good time to plow and the ground is getting terrible hard in places where it isn't wet. it plows up in chunks in places on the knolls."

            Thur. Apr 18: " In the morning Joe Lindsay came over & sowed the field to oats cross from the barn & I dragged it or them in I used 3 horses & after I got done I drawed a few stone from the meadow orchard & at night we all went down to West Hebron & got the mail & then on up to Christian Endeavor at the church the roads are  nearly all dried up only some rough in places & it is a nice day some cloudy & windy but not cold"

            Fri. Apr 19: " In the morning I began plowing up on top of the hill back of the barn for corn and I plowed all day about up there and it is a nice day rather cloudy & looks some like rain but didn't rain and it is a very good day to plow. 1 more lamb came."

            Sat. Apr 20: " I plowed nearly all day up on top of the hill back of the barn and it is a grand good day to plow for the team any way and cold north wind or north east. and I didn't get quite done up there. & in the afternoon Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron & got the mail and about 6 o'clock or before it came on rain & rained quite hard we had a nice rain it rained after night cool

Jersey cow had a calf bull."

            Sun. Apr 21: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Phillippeans the 4 chapter & the 19 verse & we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a cool east wind we had a nice rain last night grass looks green & nice. cool for sheep without any wool on."

            Mon. Apr 22: " In the forenoon I finished plowing up on top of the hill back of the barn & then I drawed manure up on top of the hill in the fallow & spread it and Sport our pup had a fit nearly all day & died before night and at noon Billy came over & began work & in the afternoon we went down & made a road along the bank of the lower fallow so we could draw manure & it came on rain & we chored around the rest of the afternoon and it is a pretty cloudy day rained some wet again grass looks nice & green"

            Tues. Apr 23: " In the forenoon Billy plowed down in the meadow orchard & I went up back & fixed fence around the woods or sheep pasture. and in the afternoon Billy plowed down in the meadow orchard and I went up back & fixed fence around the sheep field and Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail & got the harness fixed and it is a pretty cloudy day rained quite a lot in the afternoon but not hard we kept at work we turned the cows down in the swamp for the first it is so muddy in the barn yard"

            Wed. Apr 24: " In the forenoon I went at drawing manure down to the or on the lower fallow & Billy loaded it and it came on rain & we had to quit about 10 o'clock & Billy went down & cleaned out the cellar to the lower house & in the afternoon it rained nearly all the time and we chored around at one thing & a nother all afternoon. and it is a very wet time again & at night Uncle Tom H came along & stopped & stayed all night."

            Thur. Apr 25: " In the forenoon we went down to the lower house & drawed out some manure on the garden & spread it we covered the piece this side of the house and & then it came on rain again & we drawed over 2 jags of Hay & put it in the Horse barn and then we drawed 2 loads of manure up on top of the Hill in the Fallow & then Billy began plowing green sod over back in the corner. at noon he went away & in the afternoon I put the sheep up in the orchard & I plowed down in the meadow orchard & it is very wet too. at night we all went over to the Christian Endeavor at the church & it has cleared off I guess some cooler but warm in the afternoon."

            Fri. Apr 26: " In the forenoon I plowed down in the meadow orchard & in the afternoon I plowed all the time down in same field & got most done & Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a nice pleasant day warmer & drying off fast some windy."

            Sat. Apr 27: " In the morning I finished plowing down in the orchard meadow and then I drew out the seed oats & then sowed part of the orchard to oats & then dragged till noon & dug around the trees & after dinner I sowed the rest of the oats & then dragged the rest in & dug around the rest of the trees. and it is a nice day warm & clear drying off fast. at night Henry McNeil came down & got 20 bu of oats of me for Peter Busseno at 40¢."

            Sun. Apr 28: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was Proverbs the 22 chapter & the 1st verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a beautiful day clear as a bell still no wind & warm hottest yet grass is growing fast now. drying up fast. I left the sheep out for the first"

            Mon. Apr 29: " Billy plowed all day up in the upper Fallow over in the back corner and in the forenoon I marked out the piece up on top of the hill both ways with the marker both ways for corn & in the afternoon I began planting corn with the planter and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear"

            Tues. Apr 30: " In the forenoon Billy plowed up on top of the hill in the upper Fallow & I sowed the grass seed down in the meadow orchard & then went up on top of the hill & planted corn & got most done and in the afternoon we went at drawing manure on the side hill in the upper fallow & Billy loaded it & I drawed & it came on rain about 3½ o'clock & we quit cut a few potatoes & I went & got the sheep & put them in & we had a nice rain & it is warm & grass looks fine no mistake"

            Wed. May 1: " In the forenoon we drawed manure Billy loaded it & I drawed it I covered the side hill mostly in the upper fallow & then drawed down in the lower fallow and in the afternoon Billy plowed up on top of the hill in the fallow & I finished planting corn up on top of the hill back of the barn & then I put up crow twine and then I went up back & fixed some fence and it is a nice day after the rain cool in the morning but got warmer."

            Thur. May 2: " In the morning I went up to John McKernons & got or borrowed his Roller & rolled the orchard meadow below the road & picked the stone off. and got done about 2 o'clock & then it came on rain & rained awhile & before night I took the roller up home and at night we all went over to the young peoples meeting at the church and it is a nice warm day & rather cloudy. fine growing time."

            Fri. May 3: " In the morning I went up on top of the hill in the Upper fallow & plowed it was raining a little when I went up it came on so hard that I came to the house got up the sheep it was so cold stayed awhile & then went back & plowed awhile and in the afternoon I plowed up on top of the hill & got done up there & Georgia & the children went up to Belcher & done some trading & then drove down to West Hebron & got the mail & it cleared off & was colder the wind blew very hard from the north."

            Sat. May 4: " In the forenoon I dragged the potato ground over up on top of the hill in the fallow with 3 horses & I finished it at noon cut a few potatoes & then I went at marking out one way with the plow marker & got is all marked out one way and it is a nice pleasant day warm in the sun but cool air and cool nights. Georgia was about sick. grass looks nice.

            Sun. May 5: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was 1 Chronicles the 16 chapter the 37 verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a clear sunny day but very windy drying up fast cool nights."

            Mon. May 6: " In the morning we began planting potatoes up on top of the hill in the first or upper fallow & I marked out part of the field the other way with the marker & we planted all day and it is a nice pleasant day clear & pleasant some warmer."

            Tues. May 7: " We planted potatoes all day up on top of the hill in the upper fallow only I marked out awhile in the morning with the marker it is rather hard covering and it is a nother beautiful day quite warm today & clear & pleasant things are growing now fast drying up fast on top."

            Wed. May 8:" In the forenoon we both planted potatoes up on top of the hill in the upper fallow & I marked out the rest the other way and we got pretty well along and in the afternoon we drawed manure down in the lower fallow & I drawed it & Billy loaded it and it is a nice day Hot but some windy to day  wild cherries or plums are blow now. leaves are coming out fast now."

            Thur. May 9: " In the forenoon I finished planting potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow and in the afternoon I began plowing on the side hill in the upper fallow and I spread some manure and it is a nice pleasant day Hot enough for showers looks some like rain. At night we all went over to the young peoples meeting at the church. we took the newly painted wagon."

            Fri. May 10: " I plowed & spread manure all day on the side hill in the upper fallow & got most done and it is a nice day rather cloudy windy. In the afternoon Georgia & the children went down to Argyle and it rained before they got home rained at night grass is growing fast. cherry trees are in blom. The apple trees came that I had ordered 10 2.75"

            Sat. May 11: " We had a nice rain last night  In the morning I went down & finished plowing although it rained & then I sat out the trees in the rain and in the afternoon I dragged the side hill in the upper fallow it rained some & was nasty & wet & then Georgia & Ruby went down to West Hebron & got the mail & I & Roscoe fixed fence around the cow pasture and it rained quite a lot rain now & then all day not very hard. fine growing time rye & oats look fine and it is warm"

            Sun. May 12: " In the morning we had a nice shower & then cleared off a little cooler some cloudy yet  We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Deuteronomy the 1 chapter & the 40th verse and it is a fine growing time our corn is coming up."

            Mon. May 13: " In the forenoon we drawed manure down in the lower Fallow Billy loaded it & I drew it out and we got the barn yard all scraped & cleaned out about 2 o'clock and then Billy went at plowing down in the lower fallow and I spread some manure & chored around and it is a nice day some cool & cloudy drying off some."

            Tues. May 14: " In the forenoon I marked out the side hill in the upper fallow both ways and then went down in the lower fallow & spread manure & Billy plowed all day down in the lower fallow & spread some manure and in the afternoon I began planting potatoes with a potato planter down on the side hill & it don't work to suit me & it is a nice day some cloudy."

            Wed. May 15: " Billy plowed all day down in the lower fallow & he got done all but the strip along the road & I planted potatoes with planter all day down on the side hill in the upper fallow and got most done and it is a nice pleasant day quite warm Hot & pleasant. The children are about sick with colds"

            Thur. May 16: " In the forenoon I finished planting potatoes with planter down on the side Hill in the upper fallow and then spread the rest of the manure on the pieces to plow & then I got the team & went at plowing the piece in the upper fallow below the road & in the afternoon I plowed down in the lower fallow the strip along the road & didn't get quite done and Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron and got their new hats. & it is a very Hot day clear & Hot. The children have bad colds."

            Fri. May 17: " In the morning I finished plowing all done for this Spring and then I took 3 horses & went at dragging & I finished dragging the lower fallow & pieces before I came for dinner & Fred Miller came along & I sold the 4 calves to go next Monday morning & to be delivered at Argyle and in the afternoon I went at Marking out down in the lower Fallow & didn't get done it came up a Thunder Shower about night & rained a lot Showers went around before it rained here Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron to Orries a visiting The children's colds are getting some better"

            Sat. May 18: " In the forenoon I went down & brought up the sheep & dipped the lambs Georgia helped me and I chored around at one thing & another the "Sophia" Black Heifer had a calf (Heifer). and in the afternoon I went up back & fixed some lien fence & got wet. & it is a very rainy & nasty day it rained a lot last night too I guess. didn't rain very hard though the day a mist part of the time."

            Sun. May 19: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Genesis the 8 chapter & the 11 verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and it rained when we came home & rained in the morning & nearly all afternoon a very wet time just now apple tree blossoms are coming out so are lilacs also. grass is growing fast & meadows look fine now. Very muddy going now again."

            Mon. May 20: " In the morning we loaded up the 4 calves & I took them down to Argyle they weighed 124. 140. 142 & 148 # at 4½¢ per # & 57¢ Premium and Billy cut birdocks under the ground till I came back or till noon & when I came back I went down in the lower fallow & finished marking out one way it was very wet & in the afternoon we took out some potatoes & went at planting & marked out part of the piece the other way wet planting. a pretty cloudy day looks as though it was going to clear off. warm"

            Tues. May 21: " We planted potatoes all day down in the lower fallow and I marked out most of it the other way & I droped the most of them it is a very warm terrible hot in the afternoon and it is a fine growing time wet planting all day it stick to the hoe. cleared off hot.

            Wed. May 22: " We planted potatoes down in the lower fallow & we got done & I marked out the pieces along the road in both fallows and we drawed over a little hay to the horse barn and it is a very warm day Hot we sweat like summer. we have got done planting potatoes for this year."

            Thur. May 23: " It rained a shower last night In the forenoon I spaded up the sheep yard & made a small garden and dug up some birdocks and in the afternoon I planted the pieces down in the fallow's along the road to corn & put up the twine I got done all done planting for this season and it is a nice day cleared of warm Georgia & the children went up to Johnnie's awhile & at night we all went over to the young peoples meeting"

            Fri. May 24: " In the forenoon I drawed the hog manure & cleaned out the yard & drew it up in the orchard & put it around the trees and in the afternoon I drawed manure from back of the shed & put it over in the back meadow and Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a cool windy & cloudy day."

            Sat. May 25: " Rained last night & in the morning and We loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them down to Salem had on 54 bu. at 50¢ per bu. and it was muddy hard going and I got home before night & fixed some fence & it is a cloudy day & cool too."

            Sun. May 26: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was Galations the 4 chapter & the 8 verse I think and we stayed for Sabbath school & it is a nice day cleared off nice & some warmer moist time grass looks good"

            Mon. May 27: " It rains nearly all the time In the forenoon I drawed some cow manure over on the back meadow but is rained part of the time & in the afternoon I got 2 loads over on the meadow & got wet to the hide it rained a lot & it rained at night not very cold fine growing time."

            Tues. May 28: " Raining again our cistern is full & running over In the morning  drawed out 1 load of manure all drawed for now and it rained part or most of the forenoon Georgia helped me to put the hay rack on the trucks & in the afternoon it rained awhile hard & we all went down to West Hebron at Orries & stayed for supper & it didn't rain after we got there any more at all and it is a pretty cloudy day rainy time bad time for people that are not done planting."

            Wed. May 29: " In the morning Uncle Tom H came down and we put in or spliced the front sill under the horse barn we got the old one out & scored & hewed part of another and raised up the middle posts & got the sill in under in good shape quite handily & took off the two roller doors on each side of the middle door & nailed them on stationary or blank doors and took of the cap over the doors & nailed on a new board on the beam it had rotted some . and we got all done by night & we had Shaw Mahaffys screws . Georgia took them home while I was milking it is a cloudy day but didn't rain till about night & it rained quite a shower then."

            Thur. May 30: " In the forenoon I chored around cut some birdocks plants and it rained quite a lot and in the afternoon we all went down to Argyle to the Cemetery and Decorated little Howards grave and then came home I chored around cut some blue thisle plants on the big hill and it is a pretty cloudy day lots of rain wet time."

            Fri. May 31: " In the morning Georgia helped me and we loaded up a load of hay from the mow in the shed & I took it down to Salem & only got $10 a ton I sold it for $12. but didn't get it and when I got home I went up on the Hill & took down the twine from the corn & then fixed some fence and it rained a little.  There is a lot to plant yet around in places    Joe Lindsays folks mooved over in our house on the lower place to-day."

            Sat. Jun 1: " In the morning Joe Lindsay helped me to load up a small load of hay & I took it down to West Hebron to Geo. Furguson for $12 per ton traded it for meat and Eva came home with me and in the afternoon I put some wood in the shed and churned twice & chored around and it is a nice day but got cloudy & cooler. about night Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron &  took Eva home & got the mail. I think it didn't rain to-day."

            Sun. Jun 2: " It rained some last night and we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was the 32 Psalm the 1st verse & the first clause of the 2nd verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a nice day about 4 o'clock we had a Thunder shower .some cooler. wet time."

            Mon. Jun 3: " In the forenoon I cut some birdocks & fixed some fence up on top of the hill and in the afternoon it rained and I churned & went down to West Hebron & Ruby & Roscoe went with me and it is a pretty cloudy rained quite a lot very wet but every thing but corn is growing even to the weeds to cold & wet for corn."

            Tues. Jun 4: " In the forenoon I put some wood in the shed & then fixed fence up on the hill between the meadow & big side hill & got done & in the afternoon I put some wood in & went up in the little meadow & gathered the brush & burned them. & it is a nice day quite Hot. it rained a few sprinkles but not much."

            Wed. Jun 5: " In the forenoon I worked on the road & Bert McDougall worked with me and in the afternoon I dragged the potatoes that planted with planter down on the side hill in the upper fallow with a butterfly drag and then I began cultivating corn up on top of the hill it is very small & stunted I guess. and it is a beautiful day clear & didn't rain very warm"

            Thur. Jun 6: " In the forenoon I cultivated corn up on top of the hill & got it done one way & some the other and in the afternoon I began cultivating potatoes over in the corner of the top of the hill in the upper fallow & it is a nice pleasant day very hot showers went around about night rained a little here not much. potato bugs are very thick. Hot weather brings them along freely."

            Fri. Jun 7: " In the morning I went up & cultivated potatoes in the fallow on top of the hill & it came on rain in a little while & rained nearly all day & I chored around churned & in the afternoon Roscoe & I went down to West Hebron & got the mail it rained hard heavy rain again."

            Sat. Jun 8: " I cultivated potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow and I got through them one way and it rained a few sprinkles and it is a windy & cold raw day for the time of year bad corn weather Potato bugs are very thick & eating the vines very bad some places. Wet cultivating in the forenoon."

            Sun. Jun 9: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was the 32 Psalm and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a cold raw windy & cloudy day for the time of year and this is my Birthday 39 years old & enjoying good health. don't seem possible that I am so old time flyes speedily on."

            Mon. Jun 10: " We hoed corn all day up on top of the hill & I cultivated enough and it is a nice pleasant day warmer & clear & no rain every thing is growing now."

            Tues. Jun 11: " We hoed & cultivated corn all day up on top of the hill & we got our corn all hoed once up there & it is small stuff no mistake and it is a nother nice day warmer & clear. Georgia's face & ear & teeth aches very badly she is nearly laid up."

            Wed. Jun 12: " In the forenoon we both cultivated potatoes up in the fallow upper one the other way & we got all done cultivated the small pieces down along the road and in the afternoon we hoed the corn in those pieces along the road & got done all done hoeing corn the first time and Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron and at night we all went over to the church to a lecture by a lady missionary. & it is a hot day clear & getting dried off once more looks like good weather."       

            Thur. Jun 13: " In the forenoon I cultivated potatoes down in the lower fallow up & down the hill & in the afternoon I cultivated in the same field & didn't get quite done and it is a nice pleasant day warm & Hot to getting rather dry."

            Fri. Jun 14: " In the forenoon I finished cultivating the potatoes one way down in the lower fallow & began shoveling out up in the upper fallow and in the afternoon I shoveled out potatoes in the same field & Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail & a new dash put on the good wagon & leather put on the ends of the thrills and their was a Thunder shower went around it rained a little here not much a nice pleasant day warm & clear."

            Sat. Jun 15: " In the forenoon Albert Lindsay helped me he shoveled out potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow & got most done and I cultivated potatoes up & down the hill along the road in the upper fallow & got pretty well along it is terrible steep but was cool which was in our favor and in the afternoon we all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McKenzie and after we came home I went down & finished shoveling out the potatoes on the side hill along the road in the upper fallow and it is a cold day for the time of year cold enough for an overcoat. & it is cloudy & windy looks like rain but all blew over."

            Sun. Jun 16: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McKenzie formally of Salem and his text was Exodus the 19 chapter & the 5 verse and it was Sacrament Sabbath and it is a nice pleasant day warm sun but cool with wind for the time of year. after dinner we went up to see Alexander Powell he was sick with pneumonia & he was dead he died about half past 1 o'clock and the funeral is to be 12 o'clock on Tuesday."

            Mon. Jun 17: " We began hilling potatoes up on top of the hill in the first fallow and we hilled & plowed out all day and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear. getting dry & dusty in the afternoon Georgia took the children down to West Hebron at Orries & left them and at night she drove up home for some thing & on up to Belcher."

            Tues. Jun 18: " In the morning I shoveled out potatoes awhile &  hilled till about 10 o'clock & then we Georgia & I got ready & went to Mr. Powells funeral it was held at the house at 12 o'clock & we went to the Cemetery at Salem & when we came back we stopped at Orries & got the children & when we got home I hilled potatoes all day up in the fallow very dusty it was terrible on the road." 

            Wed. Jun 19: " We hilled & shoveled out potatoes all day up on top of the hill in the first fallow and we got pretty well along with it. it is very dusty hilling getting dry and it is a nice pleasant day only pretty windy it acts like rain very much the top of the ground is very dusty & dry"

            Thur. Jun 20: " In the forenoon I cultivated potatoes down in the lower fallow and in the afternoon I finished  down in that field & began cultivating the potatoes on the side hill by the road in the upper fallow and it came on rain about 4 o'clock & I came to the house & we had a nice rain it came so nice not so hard but what it all went in the ground it Thundered around some. warm after the shower too."

            Fri. Jun 21: " In the forenoon I finished cultivating potatoes on the side hill in the upper fallow along the road all done cultivating potatoes this year & then I shoveled out the rest of the potatoes up on top of the hill in the same field & in the afternoon I finished hilling up there & I was kept busy too. and it is a very hot day after the rain potatoes & corn are growing fast now. we had a fine shower last night."

            Sat. Jun 22: " In the morning it rained a nice shower. I went down in the pasture & got the Heifer & calf & brought them up to the stable & after we got the work done I churned twice We all went out to Fort Edward & Georgia got some old teeth extracted 6 & several filled & I got 3 extracted and I got a new suit of clothes & Hat & it cleared of very hot Hottest yet I guess. fine growing time it looked like rain at night showers went around."

            Sun. Jun 23: " We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. Steward of Salem and his text was in the Acts and we came home at noon and it is a nice pleasant day hot some windy it rained some last night thundered a lot."

            Mon. Jun 24: " In the forenoon we both shoveled out potatoes up & down the hill on the lower fallow & some the other way and in the afternoon we began hilling potatoes down there & hilled all the time & it is a very warm day clear & hot. John Willis came here & began painting on the house."

            Tues. Jun 25: " We hilled potatoes all day about down in the lower fallow and shoveled out some and it is a very hot day clear & Hot & getting dry & dusty again potatoes are small for hilling but we are working at it and John Willis painted on the house to-day."

            Wed. Jun 26: " In the morning I put on some Paris Green on the potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow and we hilled potatoes up on the side hill in the lower fallow and we got done hilling there and it is a very hot day terrible hot clear & dry. at night I put on some more Paris Green up on top of the hill and it is Hot weather.             Thur. Jun 27: " In the forenoon I cultivated corn upon top of the hill & in the afternoon I chored around mowed some grass with a machine down in the field above the lower place and about night Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron and it is terrible hot. & clear too. grand hay weather. John Willis painted on the house."

            Fri. Jun 28: " In the morning I got up early & put on Paris Green on the rest of the potatoes in the upper fallow up on top of the hill & then I milked & then I went at mowing clover down the road & finished the lower side of that field above the lower place & in the afternoon I got the fills on the rake & went at raking & bunching up and it is the hottest day yet I guess terrible it keeps getting hotter I guess grand hay day  John Willis painted on the house."

            Sat. Jun 29: " In the morning a shower went north it didn't rain any here no dew & Joe & Albert went at bunching up the hay and we went at drawing in the hay Joe & Albert helped me to draw in all day we raked the rest of it & got it all in 10 loads nice hay too and we got done about 5 o'clock & before night a little we had a Thunder shower rained a short shower & the wind blew pretty hard it was not after the shower Hot day & a good hay day."

            Sun. Jun 30: " Roscoe & I went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McKenzie & his text was in John and we came home at noon & Georgia & Ruby stayed at home & kept house & it is a hot day but more wind to day & it doesn't seem so hot. it didn't rain much last night."

            Mon. Jul 1: " In the forenoon I mowed the grass in the meadow up on top of the hill all cut there & Billy shoveled & hilled potatoes down on the side hill along the road in the upper fallow & in the afternoon we hilled potatoes awhile & then went up & raked the hay & bunched it up. and it is very light hay. & it is a nother hot day. Billy most played out. John Willis painted on the house or blinds. Inb the morning I put on some Paris Green."

            Tues. Jul 2: " In the forenoon we drawed in the hay from up on top of the hill in the meadow only 4 loads & Billy was about sick or something & in the afternoon I finished shoveling out potatoes & then went at hilling down on the side hill in the upper fallow Billy tried it & give out & went home about sick. and John Willis painted on the house and it is a nother very hot day."

            Wed. Jul 3: " In the forenoon I hilled potatoes down along the road on the side hill in the upper fallow & in the afternoon I finished the potatoes in the same field all done hilling potatoes & then I cultivated corn up on top of the hill back of the barn and it is a nice pleasant day very warm windy in the afternoon very dusty getting dry. In the morning I got up early & put on Paris Green at night I put on some more Paris Green all over them one time."

            Thur. Jul 4: " In the morning I went around & cut what blue thistle that I could find and then we all went down to West Hebron a visiting at Orries & stayed nearly all day. Annies children were there & it is a hot dry day looked some like rain."

            Fri. Jul 5: " It rained a shower last night but keeps hot yet In the forenoon Joe & I put corners under the barn (that he mooved out to the road down to the lower place) & chored around & Georgia & the children or Ruby went up to Belcher & on over to Uncle Tom H's to see if he would come over & help to fix the stable & cover over the barn on the lower place. It is a cloudy day poor hay day not hot to day & in the afternoon Uncle Tom H came down & we worked at the barn Joe helped awhile & at night he stayed & it rained a lot fine rain for oats."

            Sat. Jul 6: " In the forenoon Uncle Tom H. & I worked at the barn & Joe helped us to get in the partition's & in the afternoon I went down to West Hebron & got a load of lumber of Levi Copeland to cover the barn & Roscoe went along & we worked at the barn & we got the stables put in & part of it covered over. and it is a hot day & rather cloudy rained a lot last night. it is a fine growing time oats & corn & potatoes are growing fast now. At night Uncle Tom H went home & can't come back for awhile to finish the barn."

            Sun. Jul 7: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Jonah the 4 chapter & the 7 verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a warm & cloudy day when we got home from church we had a heavy Thunder shower rained a lot. some cooler."

            Mon. Jul 8: " In the forenoon I mowed the long field good clover & I got done & Billy mowed the swails by hand & in the afternoon we went up on top of the hill & hoed & cultivated corn & the corn is so large in places I quit cultivating I broke it down so bad and it is a pretty cloudy day rained at little here a shower went around & Georgia & the children went up to Belcher & got some Paris Green & then down to West Hebron & got new knives put on the cutter bar of the machine and it is not a very good hay day."

            Tues. Jul 9: " In the forenoon We hoed & cultivated the corn in the strips along the road in the fallows and in the afternoon I mowed the swail down in the orchard meadow & Billy mowed some by hand & then we went at raking & bunching the hay up in the long field & we got it all raked & nearly all bunched & it is not a very good hay day part of the afternoon was good rather cloudy some warm. In the morning I got up early & put on paris Green."

            Wed. Jul 10: " In the morning we finished hoeing the corn down along the road (I guess we won't hoe any more.) and then we went at drawing in the hay or clover up in the long field & we got it all in 10 loads fair loads it was rather green but we put it in and it is a fair hay day rather cloudy all forenoon nice cool day to hay it rather warm in the afternoon"

            Thur. Jul 11: " In the morning I put on some Paris Green and I turned over the hay down in the swail & just as I got done it came on rain & rained till about 4 o'clock not very hard nice rain wind was in the north & got colder it cleared of at night & looked like fair weather."

            Fri. Jul 12: " In the forenoon I cut some rye & chored around I went to catch the Horses & couldn't catch them & turned them on the road & had to run after them 2 or 3 hours they gave me a big chase and in the afternoon I raked & cocked the hay down in the swail in the orchard & then mowed some up on the big side hill & it is a good hay day clear & rather warm cool air."

            Sat. Jul 13: " In the morning I put on some paris Green & then I chored around & when the dew was off Albert helped me to draw in the hay that was down in the swail 3 loads & in the afternoon I raked & cocked the hay that I had mowed up on the big side hill & it is a grand hay day clear & Hot too. looks like good hay weather now. about night I cut a little more rye."

            Sun. Jul 14: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was Mark the 10 chapter & the part of the 32 verse & we came home at noon. It is a very warm day clear but a nice breeze. fine hay weather."

            Mon. Jul 15: " In the forenoon I mowed up on the big side hill till most noon & Billy cut rye back of the barn & we went up on the side hill & got 1 load of hay and in the afternoon we got in 3 loads & raked & bunched what I mowed in the forenoon and it is a grand hay day only very hot most to hot to work."

            Tues. Jul 16: " In the forenoon I mowed up on the big side hill & got done up there and Billy bound rye back of the barn and we drawed in 1 load of hay before noon & in the afternoon we drawed in 4 loads of hay & raked it all up & got the most of it bunched and Billy nearly played out he laid down awhile to hot for him and it is a terrible hot day grand hay weather most to hot to work looks like showers it did rain after night fine corn weather"

            Wed. Jul 17: " It rained a nice shower to nice for the hay we have 5 loads out anyway and in the forenoon I finished cradleing rye back of the barn & Billy bound & sat up some & in the afternoon it cleared of partly. sun shone some and we both bound rye back of the barn & got it all bound & sat up & went up & turned some of the hay & another shower came up but it didn't rain much we didn't get in any hay. stowed it back in the shed & Horse barn it is very hot & sultry yet not any cooler"

            Thur. Jul 18: " In the forenoon I went down to West Hebron & got some more lumber of Levi Copeland for the lower barn & when I got back I went up & turned the rest of the hay and then Albert & I went up & got 1 load before noon & it came up a small Thunder shower rained enough to spoil our fun."

            Fri. Jul 19: " In the forenoon I chored around & didn't do much churned etc. & in the afternoon I went up on the big side hill & turned the hay that was in winrows over & then bunched it up and chored around and it is a nice day & I waited awhile for Albert & then Winnie tramped loads for me & we drawed in 2 loads & Albert & I got 2 more that was all of the hay that I have down and it is a good hay day."

            Sat. Jul 20: " In the forenoon I drove over to Joe's place & helped Albert to put  on Paris Green till noon & in the afternoon I chored around and at night we all went down to West Hebron & got the mail & I let Orrie have $25 on her note and it is a nice hay day warm & clear too."

            Sun. Jul 21: " It rained a little last night and there was no meeting at our church so we all stayed at home and kept house slep part of the day and it is some cloudy & windy too  it looks some like rain some cooler."

            Mon. Jul 22: " In the forenoon Billy & I drawed in our rye & Billy cut a few weeds & Joe worked the side hill cross or back of the barn he is cutting it on halves he used my machine and in the afternoon Billy didn't work he is mowing his own hay and I chored around & went up to Johnnies Georgia & the children went up too & I went on up to Belcher & on over to see Uncle Tom H he don't know when he can come to finish the barn and Joe got the hay all in I helped him when I got back & he got 2 loads for me & 3 for himself & it is a grand hay day clear & hot too."

            Tues. Jul 23: " In the forenoon I chored around at one thing & a nother and in the after we all went up to Johnnnies and I helped him to draw in hay till night about and it is a nother grand hay day clear & hot too A man came here to look at my live stock but I didn't sell any beef lambs or calves & at night I took a short ride  looked at 2 calves but didn't buy. In the afternoon Orrie & Eva came up to stay awhile."

            Wed. Jul 24: " I chored around about all day cut some brush around the house & along the road side and after I milked I went out & began cutting oats cross from the barn they are a good crop and about night the women & children all went down to the Cemetary at Argyle & it is a nice pleasant day some smoky at night it got colder wind was in the north & got quite chilly."

            Thur. Jul 25: " In the forenoon I cut oats out cross from the barn they are a good crop and in the afternoon I went down to the lower place & boarded up at the barn myself & didn't get along very fast. and it is a nice day rather cloudy & smoky cool north wind. Potatoes look as though they had got done growing and the tops they are burnt by paris Green or are rusting lots of dry dead leaves."

            Fri. Jul 26: " In the forenoon I cut oats most of the time out cross from the barn & Charley Steward came along & I sold the wool to him at 16¢ per # 1 black fleece at 12¢ per # to be delivered if possible on next week Saturday Aug 3 and in the afternoon I went down & put on boards on the lower barn & made out the gable end south part myself. and it is a nice pleasant day clear & warm oats made fast to-day. getting very dry & water is getting very low also."

            Sat. Jul 27: " Billy worked for me today for Wednesday. and in the forenoon we cut oats we finished the field cross from the barn & began cutting down in the orchard meadow & cut till about 2 o'clock & then we went at drawing in oats in the field cross from the barn & Albert helped us to rake & we got in 5 jags they were in fine shape. It is a very nice day clear & warm a grand hay day oats cures fast. and at night the Women & children went down to West Hebron & got the mail. George Furguson the meat man came along & I sold the old Black Cow to him Meat & hide for 6¢ per # to be killed here week after next."

            Sun. Jul 28: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Turnbull & his text was Genesis the 8 chapter & the first clause of the 1st verse and our minister is away on his vacation and it rained in the morning quite a shower & kept cloudy & began to rain again about 3 o'clock nice rain not so nice for the oats."

            Mon. Jul 29: " In the forenoon We cut brush & then we went at cutting oats down in the lower Meadow or orchard & in the afternoon we or I finished cutting oats all done cutting Billy helped awhile & then went away on business and it is a bad time for oats it has rained a lot & began raining again about night. warm day but cloudy."

            Tues. Jul 30: " Billy didn't work to-day he came over at noon & it was to wet to draw in oats I chored around I went up to Weirs & got a shoe sat then went & looked at some calves and in the afternoon Geo. Furguson came up & killed the old black cow and it is a nice day but kept cloudy bad hay day and at night Johnnie came down & I bought 4 calves of him for $20 and it is a bad time for getting up oats."

            Wed. Jul 31:" In the morning I took the Beef down to West Hebron & she weighed 540 # Hide & Meat at 6¢ per # but I bumped her off at $30 got beat some & Billy cut brush along the road till I came back & then we went at raking oats in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon we got them all in from that field Albert helped us and we got 3 loads from the meadow orchard & they were not very dry. we had a very good hay day oats dried very good rather pleasant & windy."

            Thur. Aug 1: " In the morning I got Winnie & we went down to the McEachron place and got 3 calves that I bought of Johnnie & then I went at raking oats down in the meadow and Winnie & Carrie helped me to rake them & after dinner the girls finished raking them and Billy & Charley came over to help me & we got the oats all in 7 loads they were pretty heavy I have got done harvesting oats any way it was a good forenoon but very cloudy & rather cool air in the afternoon."

            Fri. Aug 2: " In the forenoon I helped Charley McGeoch to cut oats over on Rabbit hill & in the afternoon I helped him to draw in & rake oats I paid him up for yesterday and it is a nice pleasant day grand good hay day & oats also and I done my chores & when I got home one of the calves got into the swamp I brought it up to the barn."

            Sat. Aug 3: " It rained last night & in the morning quite a lot and I loaded up the wool & took it out to Fort Edward to Robinson 36 Fleeces at 16¢ per # Black one at 12¢ and I took Doc Kinney. and Roscoe went along we got home about 1 o'clock and it cleared of in the afternoon & was hot but no oats was fit to draw in."

            Sun. Aug 4: " There was no preaching at out church so we all stayed at home and kept house and it is a nice day rather cloudy but cleared off in the afternoon and wind got in the north some cooler and a shower went around."

            Mon. Aug 5: " In the morning I took 2 calves up to Belcher sold to D. H. Hurd 394 # at 5½¢ per # & when I came back I stopped at Johnnies & got a calf of him that makes 4 I got of him at $5 each  $20 and after I got home I went over & helped Charley McGeoch to draw in oats nearly all day and we got all done and it is a good hay day and it was a nice pleasant day cool north wind warm but cool for time of the year."

            Tues. Aug 6: " In the forenoon I went over & helped Albert to put on Paris Green on his potatoes to the other place and they were not very bad and we got home before noon and in the afternoon I chored around and went down to Deafys at the foot of the mountain & got 3 qts. of strained Honey for 60¢ and it is a pretty cloudy day & was cool & about 4 o'clock it began to rain & rained at night quite hard. At night I went down to school meeting. Norman Mahaffy was made Trustee. Myself for Clerk. Theodore Gilchrist for Collector & James F Mahaffy for Libarian. Charley McGeoch was made Chairman."

            Wed. Aug 7: " In the forenoon I chored around and it rained some and in the afternoon we all went down to West Hebron and I went up to Everett & bought a calf for $4 and when we came home I chored around and it cleared off but was rather cloudy. ground is pretty well soaked up now.

            Thur. Aug 8: " Charley McGeoch came over & we worked at the lower barn till about 3 o'clock

& ran out of lumber and Charley went home & I drove up to Belcher & got some more lumber of John Gibson & got 2 ladders of Willis for painting & it is a nice day warm & some cloudy showers went around & just as we got home (Roscoe went with me) we had a heavy Thunder shower it hailed & before I got the cows milked we had another heavy Thunder shower heavy rain & hail too sharp lightening lots of rain now."

            Fri. Aug 9: " In the forenoon I went up back & got 2 loads of old rails for the kettle wood at the hog pen and in the afternoon I began plowing for rye in the field cross from the barn good time to plow ground is well soaked up in most places and it is a nice day rather cloudy. At noon Willis came down to paint at the house again."

            Sat. Aug 10: " In the forenoon Charley came over & we finished the lower barn and after dinner we went up to see John McKernon he cut his foot quite badly and it was raining when I came back so I went down to West Hebron & got my hair cut & shaved & went up to Everetts & got the calf & then came home and Willis went home early & it is a pretty cloudy day warm & sultry rained some."

            Sun. Aug 11: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Turnbull and his text was in the Psalms and we stayed for Sabbath school. and it is a nice pleasant day clear & warmer then it has been."

            Mon. Aug 12: " In the forenoon I plowed in the field cross from the barn for rye and in the afternoon I chored around & went up & cut brush around the meadow on top of the hill and then put them in piles and it is a pretty cloudy day and very close & muggy looked like rain but didn't. Potatoes seem to be growing and where the stalk worm isn't working seem to look fairly well. the tops are not overally large & potatoes very small yet but may grow & are a fair crop. the bugs are letting them rest now ours are getting very weedy."

            Tues. Aug 13: " In the forenoon I plowed for rye in the field cross from the barn & John Willis painted to day on the house & nearly finished it and in the afternoon I helped him to paint some on the gable end of the high end of the house and it is a nice pleasant day quite hot a good hay day some oats to be got in yet. fine time for Fall feed grass is growing fast."

            Wed. Aug 14: " In the morning I chored around helped to make ice cream & then we all went to the Town Picnic held at the "Oaks" and their was a big crowd & we all had a good time and stayed all day milked after dark. it is a nice pleasant day warm rather hot some cloudy in the morning."

            Thur. Aug 15: " In the forenoon I plowed for rye in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon it rained part of the time I chored around & shelled some corn & so on and it is a warm day rather cloudy it began to rain about 2 o'clock & rained about 2 o'clock & rained not very hard."

            Fri. Aug 16: " It rained a lot last night but cleared off. In the morning I took 2 bu. of corn up to John McKernon and we all went a visiting up to Martin Rogers & stayed nearly all day come home by West Hebron & got the mail and Willis was here painting. and it is a nice pleasant day clear & some windy & warm also.

            Sat. Aug 17: " In the forenoon I plowed for rye in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon I finished plowing in the same field all done plowing till I get the corn crop harvested. and I drawed the stone from the field & Willis painted all day on the out buildings and it is a nice day rather cloudy but warm."

            Sun. Aug 18: " Their was no meeting over at our church so we didn't go to any other church so all stayed at home & kept house and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear too. it is a nice hay day not very hot either nice cool breeze."

            Mon. Aug 19: " In the forenoon Billy & I cut brush & weeds around the fences and in the afternoon I began mowing the clover (second crop) down the road above the lower house and mowed nearly all afternoon & Billy cut brush down along the lien or Kinneys swamp and Willis painted most of the day on the out buildings and it is a pretty cloudy day looks rainy but didn't rain warm & muggy."

            Tues. Aug 20: " In the forenoon I helped Joe to mow by hand in the swamp & over in the swail in the back meadow and Billy helped awhile & then he went down along the lien or woods & cut brush or trees. and in the afternoon Billy & I cut brush & weeds around the fences & then raked & cocked our hay or clover that we had cut down the road & it is a very warm day cloudy but cleared off in the afternoon & was a fair hay day the hay was not very dry. Willis painted to day but went home at night."

            Wed. Aug 21: " In the forenoon Billy cut brush up back by little meadow and I helped awhile & then I went at fixing lien fence between Weir & myself & we finished our job & it is very hot. & in the afternoon after we sat around awhile we went at drawing in the clover from down the road above the lower place & got in 3 jags & then it came up a shower & we had one jag left out in the rain by our sitting around & it was a big shower rained hard for an hour any way & John Willis helped us to onload & he painted till it came on rain."

            Thur. Aug 22: " I helped Willis to paint nearly all day & we had a shower about noon rained quite a lot and it is a cloudy day bad weather for potatoes late potatoes seem to be growing now our early piece looks as though they had began to rust. Some early planted pieces are dying now. at night Willis went home Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail."

            Fri. Aug 23: " In the forenoon I painted a little and chored around & opened out the hay that was out and in the afternoon I fixed some fence & chored around & turned the hay over & bunched it up again & about night Joe & Albert helped me to draw it in they was a big load and it is a poor hay day only that the wind blew hard not much sunshine."

            Sat. Aug 24: " In the forenoon I chored around & Roscoe & I went down to West Hebron & on up to Belcher & then home and in the afternoon I chored around the thresher came & sat up the machine and went home and it is a pretty cloudy day & rained a little now & then all day about very muddy bad potato weather but grass looks like the spring of the year green & growing very fast."

            Sun. Aug 25: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by a young minister by the name of Mr. Brown and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a nice pleasant day cleared off warm"

            Mon. Aug 26: " The threshers were here all day & broke down in the morning & had to go to Belcher and Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron & got the mail and Joe & Albert Lindsay & John Willis helped us to thresh we got the oats pretty well along & it is a nice pleasant day quite warm"

            Tues. Aug 27: " The threshers got done about night got their supper & went away we got the oats done in the forenoon & threshed the rye in the afternoon & didn't clean it up their was 284 bu of oats and Billy went home at night and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear too."

            Wed. Aug 28: " In the forenoon I dragged the rye ground over and got it done & in the afternoon I mowed the rest of the clover down the road & cleaned up a little rye enough to sow 9 bu. & sowed the rye in the field cross from the barn and I weaned the lambs. Willis painted to day"

            Thur. Aug 29: " In the forenoon I dragged in the rye and afternoon I raked up the clover hay & bunched it up & then went up & got John McKernons Roller and burned some brush & chored around and it is a good hay day clear Hot too. Willis painted to day."

            Fri. Aug 30: " In the forenoon I rolled the rye in the field cross from the barn & didn't get done & in the afternoon Willis helped me to draw in the clover hay 2 small loads & I finished rolling the rye 5 A and took it home and at night Willis & I went up to Belcher after paint and it is a nice day some cloudy & not so warm to day."

            Sat. Aug 31: " It rained a nice shower last night & I helped Willis to paint till about 2 o'clock & then I began cutting some corn up on top of the hill and chored around & Willis began painting on the lower house and it is a pretty cloudy day not very hot. Potatoes are dying fast now."

            Sun. Sept 1: " I went to church alone & I heard a sermon by Mr. Brown a Student and his text was in Second Kings and Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house and it rained now & then all day quite hard part or most of the time it is a very wet time fine for grass."

            Mon. Sept 2: " In the forenoon I went up on top of the hill & cut corn awhile and in the afternoon Willis came to paint and Joe came up & we went at cutting corn up on top of the hill & cut awhile & it came on a shower & drove us to the house & it rained nearly the rest of the day and it is a wet time in earnest Willis & I took a ride & looked at calves cleared off at night."

            Tues. Sept 3: " In the forenoon Joe Lindsay & I cut corn up on top of the and in the afternoon I tied up the corn & cut some more not very big stalks and Willis painted to day . It is a nice pleasant day very hot for the time of year."

            Wed. Sept 4: " I helped John Willis to paint all day on the Horse barn & shed and it is a very hot day for the time of year wet heavy dews and we had a light shower about dark. Potatoes are going fast now one of our pieces is nearly dead in places nearly fit to dig."

            Thur. Sept 5: " In the forenoon I helped Willis to paint on the hog pen and I caught up the horses & in the afternoon John Willis helped me to load up a load of rye straw & I took it out to Keyworths beyond Argyle village 2240 # at $8 per ton. and it is a nice pleasant day only very hot. hot enough to rot potatoes."

            Fri. Sept 6: " In the forenoon I chored around & cut brush & weeds around the fences and Willis got back & at noon he helped me to put on a load of Rye Straw and I took the Straw over to Keyworths at $8 per ton 1640 # Straw is very light this year and it is a very hot day clear & Hot no wind."

            Sat. Sept 7: " Billy helped me to day and in the forenoon we cut corn up on top of the hill back of the barn and we got most done and in the afternoon we tried to burn some brush and carried out some of the hay down in the swamp & drawed it up in the barn & then went up on top of the hill & finished cutting the corn and it is a very hot day clear & no wind."

            Sun. Sept 8: " We didn't go to church so we all stayed at home and kept house. There was preaching at our church 3 P. M. and it is a cool day a sudden change from Hot to cold. some cloudy & a cool north wind."

            Mon. Sept 9: " In the forenoon Billy & I began husking corn up on top of the hill back of the barn and in the afternoon we began digging Potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow they were very light we only got about 20 bu & nearly half of them to small for market the corn was good. & it is a nice pleasant day some warm but cool air wet heavy dew mornings. Willis painted"

            Tues. Sept 10: " In the forenoon we both husked corn up on top of the hill and in the afternoon we dug potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow & put them in the House cellar and they are a very light & weedy than fury slow digging & it is a nice day some warmer & some cloudy too looks Some like rain Willis painted"

            Wed. Sept 11: " In the forenoon we husked corn up on top of the hill back of the barn and in the afternoon we dug potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow and it rained a little and their was Thunder  showers went around and it is warmer to day rather cloudy."

            Thur. Sept 12: " In the morning we all went to the County Fair we started about 7 o'clock  by right time & got out there before 9 o'clock and it began to rain before noon & rained nearly all day and it was terrible nasty on the Fair grounds & we started home about 2½ o'clock & got the milking done before night & they put or extended the fair on to Saturday"

            Fri. Sept 13: " In the morning I cut the corn down in the piece along the road in the first fallow and it rained now & then all day bad day for the Fair again & in the afternoon we cleaned up the rye their was about 50 bu in all and I & Ruby & Roscoe went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a wet time in earnest."

            Sat. Sept 14: " In the morning I went down to Jim Mahaffys to a raisin & then when I came back I went up on the hill & husked corn & in the afternoon I painted the hay rack & then went down & cut corn along the road in the lower fallow I didn't get quite done and it is a nice pleasant day warm again good day for the Fair to day."

            Sun. Sept 15: " Their was no preaching at our church & so we didn't go to any other church so all stayed at home & kept house. and it rained nearly all forenoon & was a cloudy day some cool wet time"

            Mon. Sept 16: " In the morning Billy & I went up to Johnnies to help him to fill his Silos and helped all day and at night Billy stayed all night & I came home & done the chores & it is a clear day & pleasant but was windy looks like fair weather."

            Tues. Sept 17: " In the morning after I done the chores I went up to Johnnies & helped him again & it came on rain about 10 o'clock & we stayed around till noon & then came home & chored around & shelled some corn & split some rails & cut some brush & it is a wet day in earnest and a nasty time"

            Wed. Sept 18: " In the morning after we done the chores we went up to Johnnies & helped him to fill his Silos & we got done to day & it was about night or chore time when we got done and it is a pretty cloudy day but fair to work John Willis finished painting the buildings to day I believe."

            Thur. Sept 19: " In the forenoon I took John Willis's ladders up to Belcher & Gibsons oil cans also & on my way back I stopped at John A. Robinsons & got 500 ft. of plank for a hog pen floor and when I got back I went up on top of the hill & got a load of husked corn and in the afternoon I drawed the rest of the husked corn & then tore out the old floor in the hog pen & went at the new floor & finished it after dark and it is a cool windy day looks like fair weather now."

            Fri. Sept 20: " In the morning Joe & Albert came up & helped me to dig potatoes up on top of the hill & it came on rain about 4 o'clock & we had to quit we got nearly 2 loads. they are very light and it is a nasty time it didn't rain very hard but enough to make it bad it is a cool rain too."

            Sat. Sept 21: " Albert came up & helped me to dig potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow & Joe's girls picked up the most of the potatoes & we dug nearly all day we cut a little corn down along the road in the lower fallow & didn't quite finish it either . It is a nice pleasant day warm but cool wind.

            Sun. Sept 22: " Their was preaching at our church by Mr. Morris but we didn't go so we all stayed at home & kept house and it is a nice pleasant day clear & a cool wind cooler & looks like fair weather again.

            Mon. Sept 23: " In the forenoon Billy, Albert Lindsay & I dug & I dug potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow & did in the afternoon too but at night we drawed in a load of corn from on top of the hill and it is a nice pleasant day clear & a South wind we got 2 loads of potatoes are a little better."

            Tues. Sept 24: " Albert, Billy & I dug potatoes nearly all day up on top of the hill in the fallow & we got 2 loads or a little better & we drawed in 2 loads of corn from up on top of the hill & it is a very warm day but got colder about 4 o'clock north wind & quite cool."

            Wed. Sept 25: " Albert, Billy & I dug potatoes nearly all day up on top of the hill in the fallow and we got 2 loads & we drawed in one load of corn from on top of the hill and it is a nice pleasant day only cold wind all day cold at night."

            Thur. Sept 26: " In the forenoon Albert & I dug potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow and got nearly a load & in the afternoon we drawed in the corn stalks from up on top of the hill 3 loads & then we drawed in the rest of the corn & put it on the barn floor & shed 4 jags and it is dry & seemingly in good shape to keep. & it is a nice pleasant day warmer again cold in the morning heavy white frost it spoiled potatoes on top of the ground."

            Fri. Sept 27: " Joe, Albert & I dug potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow & they were very light we got 2 loads or nearly & dug over a big lot of ground and it is a nice day clear & pleasant warm at night again looks like dry weather now again."

            Sat. Sept 28: " In the forenoon Joe , Albert & I dug potatoes up on top of the hill in the fallow and we got nearly done and in the afternoon Albert & I picked apples not very good quality & light crop too. and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear too getting dry again. at night Georgia went down to West Hebron & got the mail & Orrie & Eva came up to stay awhile"

            Sun. Sept 29: " I went to church & heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron (he has got back home & is feeling better & is able to preach) and his text was in 3 different places about the sea and Georgia the children Orrie & Eva stayed at home & kept house and it rained a lot last night but cleared of warm again  but rather windy."

            Mon. Sept 30: " Billy & I dug potatoes all day down in the lower fallow and they were a fair crop we got over 70 bu & fair quality some rottens ones not many and it is good digging too and it is a nice pleasant day pretty warm & a nice day."

            Tues. Oct 1: " Billy dug potatoes all day down in the lower Fallow & they are a fair crop we got nearly 2 loads some rotten and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear. we put the potatoes in the House cellar."

            Wed. Oct 2: " Billy & I dug potatoes all day down in the lower fallow & we got about 35 bu or more they are not quite so good and it is a pretty windy & rather cloudy it rained at night some and at noon I cut the little pigs 7 out of 14 and at night Roscoe & I took Billy over to his house & took a few pears & got a few  pumpkins."

            Thur. Oct 3: " In the morning I began plowing for rye up on top of the hill and I plowed nearly all day and at noon spell I picked a few apples & carried them in the cellar and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear too."

            Fri. Oct 4: " I plowed nearly all day up on top of the hill for rye & got nearly done & at noon spell I picked a few apples & carried them in the cellar and it is a nice pleasant day clear but cool at night."

            Sat. Oct 5: " In the forenoon I finished plowing for rye up on top of the hill & drawed of a few stone and then sowed the rye and in the afternoon I dragged the rye & put the other old sow that hasn't piged in under the Horse barn and picked a few apples & it is a nice day some warm & cloudy cool nights."

            Sun. Oct 6: " I went to church alone & heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was 2nd Samuel the 23 chapter & part of the 15,16 & 17 verses and Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house & it is a cloudy cold raw windy day looked like rain too did a little it spit snow."

            Mon. Oct 7: " In the forenoon I dug potatoes up on top of the hill in the upper fallow & I got done up there & in the afternoon I picked then up & then onloaded them 20 bu. and then picked apples till night Billy didn't work for me to day and it is a nice pleasant day warm but frooze last night a little."

            Tues. Oct 8: " Billy & I dug potatoes all day down in the lower fallow not a very good crop and we got about 60 bu. and it is a nice pleasant day warm and it is getting pretty hard digging again Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail etc."

            Wed. Oct 9: " Billy & I dug potatoes all day down in the lower fallow & they are not a very good crop we got about 65 bu. and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear or a little cloudy looked some like rain at night. we are putting the potatoes in the house cellar."

            Thur. Oct 10: " In the forenoon Billy & I dug potatoes down in the lower fallow & at noon or before Billy went away to help McFarland in the afternoon when I got the load onloaded I dug down in the lower fallow & it is a nice pleasant day clear & Hot too it is getting dry ground is hard digging."

            Fri. Oct 11: " In the forenoon I dug potatoes down in the lower fallow & in the afternoon I went over to help Joe Lindsay to thresh Buckwheat & took my team & Hay Rack but we didn't get much done and it is a hot & pleasant day dry yet. grand time to get work along."

            Sat. Oct 12: " In the forenoon I went over to help Joe finish threshing his Buckwheat he had about 95 bu and it was noon when I got back home and I took the team & drew the Buckwheat and in the afternoon Billy helped me to dig potatoes down in the lower fallow & we got nearly done digging down there. & it is another Hot day clear & dry."

            Sun. Oct 13: " Roscoe, Albert Lindsay & I went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Acts the 13 chapter & the 38 & 39 verses and Georgia & Ruby stayed at home & kept house and it is a pretty cloudy & windy day rained some not much warm wind."

            Mon. Oct 14: " In the forenoon Billy & I dug potatoes in the field or side hill along the road in the upper fallow & nearly all day it rained some so that it drove us in twice we got about 60 bu. they are pretty good crop some rotten ones not a great many and it is a pretty cloudy day rained some and it rained a lot last night it soaked the ground up in good shape it is better digging to day."

            Tues. Oct 15: " Billy & I dug potatoes all day and we got about 70 bu they are a very fair crop for this year and it is a nice pleasant day warm & pleasant it cleared off warm it is a good thing for there is a lot of potatoes to be dug yet and we are getting pretty well along in the afternoon Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail and a little grist."

            Wed. Oct 16: " Billy & I dug potatoes all day down on the side hill in the upper fallow & got pretty near through we got about 75 bu. I guess and put them in the barn cellar & House cellar too some in each cellar."

            Thur. Oct 17: " In the forenoon I picked some apples & it came on rain & I went at packing apples and in the afternoon I packed apples and then went down & finished digging the potatoes in the lower fallow and it is wet. & it is a pretty cloudy day not very cold."

            Fri. Oct 18: " In the forenoon I dug potatoes down on the side hill in the upper fallow & in the afternoon I finished them & picked them up about 30 bu and we are all done digging now we had about as I kept run of them about 1180 bu and it is a nice pleasant day only windy some cloudy I began boiling for the sows & pigs & boiled some rye & poor apples. ground is very wet now nasty digging quite a lot of potatoes to dig yet around here. at night I went down to West Hebron & got the mail & got my hair cut & shaved & brought Orrie & Eva home."

            Sat. Oct 19: " In the forenoon I put up the rest of my apples & Headed them 14 barrels and of poor quality and I changed the sheep & took the ewe lambs & put them with the old sheep & put the old Buck with the buck lambs and in the afternoon I went to church & I heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was John the 15 chapter & the 12 verse and it is a pretty dark & cloudy day rained a shower at night & got colder."

            Sun. Oct 20: " Orrie, Eva, Roscoe & I went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was John the 15 chapter & the 15 verse & it was Sacrament Sabbath & Georgia & Ruby stayed at home & kept house and it is a nice pleasant day cold last night the ground was frozen my Buck got out last night & I looked all around for him & found him with Burdett's sheep & we left him there."

            Mon. Oct 21: " In the forenoon Billy & I cut some old wood at the hog pen & then we husked corn till noon & in the afternoon we drawed in the corn down along the road in both fallows & we have got our corn all in now & then we went down along the meadow orchard & laid some stone wall its lien fence between Doc Kinney & myself & Georgia took Orrie & Eva down to West Hebron home & Ruby went too Roscoe stayed with us and it is a nice day warmer & pleasant too."

            Tues. Oct 22: " In the forenoon Billy & I layed stone wall between Doc & I in the meadow orchard and in the afternoon Billy husked corn awhile & I went down back & fixed some fence the Bull & Heifers were out & I husked awhile when I came back & then we went down at the wall again & we burned the brush that was along the fence & it is a nother beautiful day clear & quite warm."

            Wed. Oct 23: " In the forenoon We finished the wall along Doc's lien & changed the fence & laid it over new & put riders or poles on the wall and in the afternoon we husked corn and cut some old wood & Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron and it is a windy day & some cloudy but warm south wind."

            Thur. Oct 24: " In the forenoon I fixed the fence down along Doc's swamp laid it all over & then drew up the old rails & poles to the House & Hog pen and in the afternoon I husked some corn and chored around at one thing & another & Old Mr. Connors came along & I sold my 3 Heifers to him for $55 to be delivered at North Argyle in the near future and it is a windy day colder to day the wind has shifted in the north now."

            Fri. Oct 25: " In the morning I went over to Geo. McNeils & put up 10 barrels & then came back & chored around till noon and in the afternoon I took the lambs 14 of them down to North Argyle and when I got back I put on the apples 14 bbls & Joe Killed another old sheep and Chas. Hanna put up the Eave troughs on the big barn and it is a nice pleasant day clear but cool last night frooze a little at Jim White brought over 2 barrels of apples or Norm Mahaffy did for him & I packed them for him & loaded them on my load."

            Sat. Oct 26: " In the morning I took the apples 14 bbls out to Fort Edward & 2 bbls for Jim White 5 bbls Winter Blush, 4 bbls Baldwins, 3 bbls Greenies, 2 bbls Canada Red. and Roscoe went with me & we went up to Sandy Hill & got Ruby a dress etc. & I got Roscoe a suit of clothes etc at Ft. Edward & we didn't get home till about night and it is a nice pleasant day clear & warm cool south wind. the Farmers around here are filling a car with apples & shipping it through Mr. Ingalls to Philadelphia. and at night Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron & got the mail I sold a load of potatoes to Glens Falls for 65¢ to be delivered on Thursday next week."

            Sun. Oct 27: " I went to church & took Ruby & Roscoe with me & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Exodus the 4 chapter & the 2 verse and Georgia stayed at home & kept house and it is a nice pleasant day warm for the time of year."

            Mon. Oct 28: " In the morning we husked corn a little while & then went down & layed stone wall along the bottom of the lower fallow & did nearly all day and it is a nice pleasant day but cool air nice dry weather cold at night."

            Tues. Oct 29: " In the forenoon Billy cut wood or trees up on the hill front of the house & I snaked them down to the bottom of the hill & we had very good luck and in the afternoon we picked stone & drawed them off in the little orchard back of the barn and it is a nice pleasant day clear & warm for the time of year it frooze hard last night or the hardest but got warmer."

            Wed. Oct 30: " In the forenoon Billy cut wood or trees up on the steep wood lot front of the house & I trailed them down to the bottom of the hill and we got out quite a lot of wood in lengths & tops & in the afternoon we finished picking & drawing stone back of the barn & drawed 2 loads down along the orchard in the field above the lower place & then Billy husked a little & it is another beautiful day warm as summer."

            Thur. Oct 31: " In the morning I got up early & took a load of potatoes out to Glens Falls 52 bu at 65¢ per bu. I left some at Sandy Hill and Lincoln got the load and I had good luck got onloaded right off & got home before sundown awhile & then chored around till night and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear too fine fall weather white frost."

            Fri. Nov. 1: " In the morning I took a small grist down to West Hebron & took a wagon wheel from the Double wagon & got a new tire put on and Roscoe went along & when I got back I went at sorting potatoes & got a nother load on and husked some & in the afternoon Georgia drove down to West Hebron & got the mail and grist & wheel and it is a beautiful day rained a little but cleared off warm."

            Sat. Nov 2: " In the morning I got up early & took a load of potatoes out to Glens Falls 55 bu.             Sun. Nov 3: " Ruby, Roscoe & I went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was in Ester the 4 chapter & the 13 verse & part of the 14th and we came home at noon & Georgia stayed at home & kept house and it is a nice pleasant day clear & warm but cool air."

            Mon. Nov 4: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & started for Glens Falls with a load of potatoes 56 bu & left part of the load at Glens Falls and didn't get home till nearly night and it is a nice pleasant day cool air to day frooze quite hard last night. and in the forenoon Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron & got the or a little grist ground for the bull."

            Tues. Nov 5: " In the morning we got the young cattle or 2 beeves tied down & got started for Argyle & we had quite a time in getting them started and it snowed on us going down & coming home a little and the ground was white when we got home but melted away before night and in the afternoon we went at cutting the wood on the side hill that we trailed down up into cord wood. cool cloudy nasty day. I voted straight Republican ticket it was Election. Election for Assemblymen was Republicans 106 to Democrats 44. It was a Republican election  No State Officers elected"

            Wed. Nov 6: " In the forenoon Billy & I cut the wood or at it over beyond the barn that we snaked out of the woods into cord wood and in the afternoon we husked corn in the barn and it is a nice pleasant day cool nights."

            Thur. Nov 7: " In the forenoon Billy & I finished cutting the wood that we trailed down from the woods and piled it up in small piles and in the afternoon we husked corn and it is a nice pleasant day warmer we kept the cows in the stable last night but won't any more till it gets colder at night I paid Billy off & he won't work for me any more now."

            Fri. Nov 8: " In the morning I loaded up a load of potatoes and took them out to Fort Edward & put them on the boat 47 bu. and got home about 4 o'clock and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear the roads are very dusty & dry now., at night & morning too I sorted potatoes."

            Sat. Nov 9: " In the morning I loaded up a load of potatoes "seconds" & took them out to Fort Edward & put them on the boat 47 bu. and it is a nice day some cloudy & cooler looks like snow I got home about 4 o'clock & at night I sorted some potatoes and it got colder at night cleared off."

            Sun. Nov 10: " I went to church & I heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was 2nd Peter & the 2 chapter & the first clause of the 9 verse I think & Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house & after dinner Mary came down awhile & it is a very cold day winter weather it frooze hard last night & cold tonight."

            Mon. Nov 11: " In the morning I loaded up a load of potatoes and took them out to Fort Edward & sold them to Dibble 51 bu at 65¢ per bu. and it is a nice day some cloudy & looks like snow and the roads are very dusty."

            Tues. Nov 12: " It rained all day steady and pretty hard some times I chored around & got the calves in & I sorted potatoes part of the time and it was raining at bedtime right down & it is a cold rain."

            Wed. Nov 13: " In the morning the ground was white and I was up early & done the chores & loaded up a load of potatoes and then took them out to Fort Edward 54 bu at the Farmers boat. & got home about sun down and it is a cloudy & cold day some windy. and at night the children & I went down to a show at Goose Island shool house and it was cold at night & began snowing."

            Thur. Nov 14: " I snowed a lot last night & about all day and I chored around & sorted potatoes & put up a small grist & Albert took the grist down to West Hebron & got it home again and it looked like fair weather at night cloudy though I think the snow is about 4 or 5 inches deep. I brought the sheep in & kept them in a day or two. In the morning Georgia went up & got Aunt Kate to come down & help her to clean house."

            Fri. Nov 15: " In the morning I loaded up a load of potatoes & took them out to Fort Edward to put then on the boat & didn't start till after I got my dinner so didn't get home till it was late and it was terrible hard going to Argyle out to Fort Edward there was no snow and it didn't thaw away much here."

            Sat. Nov 16: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & put on a load of potatoes and took them out to Fort Edward & put them on the boat and I got home in good season & then chored around weaned the pigs on the third sow or sold the rest of them all done now at $1.50 each 9 for 13.50 and it is a pretty cloudy day the snow don't than away much. muddy around here about night I took Aunt Kate home."

            Sun. Nov 17: " Roscoe & I went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was two places in Kings & Matthew and we came home at noon & Georgia & Ruby stayed at home & kept house. it thawed some to day some bare ground here now & very muddy. cloudy to day most of the time."

            Mon. Nov 18: " In the morning I loaded up a load of potatoes & took them out to Fort Edward & put them on the Farmers boat and it is a cool day some cloudy snowed some more snow around here but no snow out to Fort Edward."

            Tues. Nov 19: " I loaded up a load of potatoes seconds & took them out to Fort Edward & put them on the boat to ship and I went up to Sandy Hill & sold a few potatoes at 70¢ per bu. and got my pay for some that I had sold It is a cold raw windy day snowed some more last night."

            Wed. Nov 20: " In the morning I went down to West Hebron and took a bag of Buckwheat & got some buckwheat flour and when I got home I sorted some potatoes & they are worth 72¢ at Salem now and it is a nice day some cloudy & cool."

            Thur. Nov 21: " In the morning after I done the chores I put on a load of potatoes & took them down to Salem 44 bu at 76¢ per bu. and it is a nice pleasant day cold in the morning and at night. at night I sorted potatoes"

            Fri. Nov 22: " In the morning after I done the chores I loaded up a load of potatoes & took them down to Salem 46 bu at 80¢ per bu. and I didn't get home till after dark they was a lot in and the roads are pretty good. At night I sorted potatoes and it is a nice pleasant day cool."

            Sat. Nov 23: " In the morning I got up early & sorted potatoes & after I done the chores I loaded up a load of potatoes & took them down to Salem 46 bu at 80¢ per bu and I got home early & it snowed on me going down & it is a cold windy rough day. at night I sorted some more potatoes."

            Sun. Nov 24: " I didn't go to church so we all stayed at home and kept house and it is a cold rough day didn't freeze very much but very chilly winters weather looks like snow It did snow at night."

            Mon. Nov 25: " In the forenoon I took some second potatoes down to Will Randles near Argyle and when I came back or after dinner I took a grist down to West Hebron & got it home all but the buckwheat had to leave it & it is a cool day snowed last night ground is covered with snow again & it is a cloudy day snowed before night quite hard."

            Tues. Nov 26: " In the forenoon I carried some potatoes from the barn cellar to the House cellar & got the sheep up & chored around & in the afternoon I went down to West Hebron & took Orrie some apples & bought a chunk stove of her and brought it home and it is cold & windy too it looks & acts like winter now."

            Wed. Nov 27: " In the morning after I done the chores I took 10 bu. of potatoes out to Sandy Hill at 70¢ per bu. and then I drove on up to Glens Falls & got my pay for a load of potatoes & done some trading. and I got home before sun down a little and it is a cold day thawed a little not much the roads are fine."

            Thur. Nov 28: " Thanksgiving   After I done the chores we all went down to Orries a visiting at West Hebron and stayed all day and I went to the Union service at the M. E. Church & heard a sermon by our minister Mr. McEachron and his text was in the Psalms and it is a pleasant day but cold very cold for the time of year  Potatoes are bringing 85¢ per bu at Salem. the ground is white but the snow isn't over 2 inches roads are bare & nice wheeling"

            Fri. Nov 29: " In the forenoon I put up a grist & churned and chored around at one thing and another and in the afternoon I took the grist down to West Hebron & left it and got the Buckwheat Flour home and it is a pretty cloudy day snowed a little nearly all day but didn't accumulate very fast it was cold & fine."

            Sat. Nov 30: " I chored around all day at one thing & another & husked some corn and it is a nice pleasant day thawed a little it looks as though it was going to be warmer . ground is nearly all white yet. cold in shade.

            Sun. Dec 1: " I & Roscoe went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron and his text was in the Hebrews and we came home at noon & Ruby & Georgia stayed at home after dinner Georgia & the children went up to her folks awhile & it is a nice pleasant day cool in shade but thawed up some muddy."

            Mon. Dec 2: " In the forenoon I chored around husked some corn and in the afternoon I chored around and went down to West Hebron & on my way back I went up & got Mrs. Gilchrist She is going to help Georgia and it thawed quite a lot sloppy & some muddy I turned the sheep out again."

            Tues. Dec 3: " in the morning I got up early & done the chores and then loaded up a load of potatoes and took the load down to Salem 43 bu at 80¢ per bu. and it was a cold day & windy too it frooze up in earnest and the roads are in good shape too. and I got home about 2½ o'clock & then it began to snow & snowed & blowed & I went & got the sheep in again."

            Wed. Dec 4: " It snowed about 6 inches last night some sleighs but it blowed so the snow didn't fall even and in the forenoon I chored around and in the afternoon Joe & I killed the Bull Beef he had ½ of him and he weighed 500 # of Meat  the Hide  # and it is a pleasant day but a  cold winter weather."

            Thur. Dec 5: " I chored around I cut up the Beef & put it up in the wagon house to Freeze & it will soon freeze I guess it is very cold. I am looseing my bigest pigs 2 have died & more are in a fair way. too and it is cold winter weather I helped the women to whip carpets."

            Fri. Dec 6: " I chored around I shelled some corn & packed the beef away in a box in corn & it is a very cold day I chored around & in the afternoon I took Aunt Kate's stove home & Ruby & Roscoe went along and we went in a wagon some sleighing cold at night pleasant but cold I let Albert Lindsay have a Horse to use to night Maud."

            Sat. Dec 7: " It is a very cold morning and in the forenoon I went down to West Hebron & got a grist that I had down there and it is hard going a wagon draws hard and when I got home I chored around sorted a few potatoes seconds & it is moderating toward night it is cloudy & looks like snow. another pig died 4 dead now."

            Sun. Dec 8: " I went to church & I went alone & I heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Acts the 26 chapter & the 27 & 28 verses and I came home at noon & Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house & Mrs. Gilchrist went down to Mr. Shaw Mahaffys and it is warmer & cloudy it looks like a thaw or snow."

            Mon. Dec 9: " I chored around all day at one thing & another I repaired the Horse stable & calf stable and sorted some potatoes . and it is a nice warm day very soft & the snow is going fast at night it rained quite a lot."

            Tues. Dec 10: " In the forenoon I chored around & helped Joe to husk a little corn & it rained quite a lot & the snow is pretty well off I turned the sheep out again 3rd time this season and in the afternoon I & Roscoe went down to West Hebron & took the pump & got it repaired & I went up the road & seen about getting another girl for awhile and it cleared off cooler at night rather sloppy & muddy but not deep at all."

            Wed. Dec 11: " In the morning I went down to Salem & got a load of coal for Orrie & got 3000 # at 5.75 per ton & I got home in good season & helped Albert to husk some corn and chored around & it is a nice pleasant day warm & thawed quite a lot but the mud is not deep at all. Potatoes are of a little only 75¢ per bu now."

            Thur. Dec 12: " In the forenoon I went up to see Josie Busseno or Cullins and she promised to come & help us if we needed her and in the afternoon I chored around & husked some & sorted some potatoes at night and it is a cool day but thawed some it snowed last night but all went off. Will Crosier brought a sow here but wasn't boaring at all guess."

            Fri. Dec 13: " In the morning I went up to Weirs & got Maud shawd & then I went at drawing out manure under the sheep shed way back to the back meadow and got out 4 loads and it is a nice warm day snow is thawing fast quite muddy."

            Sat. Dec 14: " I chored around all day at one thing & another I threw out some saw dust out of the ice house and then went down to Shaw Mahaffys  got his screws & raised the sides up some where in shape & braced them up & started to make a hog yard and it is a very windy day south wind and the snow has all disappeared or gone again. rained at night frost is nearly all out again 60º at night warm as summer."

            Sun. Dec 15: " I didn't go to church so we all stayed at home and kept house and it is a very unpleasant day it rained a lot last night ground is well soaked water is high in the morning it was colder & the rain soon turned to hail & then snow it didn't snow much but kept getting colder all day wind is in the west &  blowing a gale the wind blew from the South East last night very hard & blowed some fence down. I brought the sheep in again."

            Mon. Dec 16: " It was a rough night cold & windy & rough going and I drew out 1 load of manure & gave it up it was icy & rough and I went down to the other house & got a few boards & shoveled out part of the saw dust out of the ice house and in the afternoon  I made some fence around the hog yard a new yard below the hog pen and chored around."

            Tues. Dec 17: " In the night Georgia was sick & I went up after Mary about 12 o'clock & then I went down to West Hebron & got the Doctor "Madison" and about 6 o'clock a baby girl was born it weighed 9½ # and was well Georgia was pretty bad but was better before night In the forenoon  I cleaned out the rest of the saw dust out of the ice house & chored around & in the afternoon I made a small Hog pen and then took Mary up home & the children I took them on down to West Hebron & left them at Orries  they stayed all night & I came home & it is a nice pleasant day clear & cold & the roads are terrible rough & lots of icy places."

            Wed. Dec 18: " In the forenoon after I done the chores I went down to West Hebron after the children & got Orrie & Eva they are going to stay awhile with us and in the afternoon I chores around & husked some corn and it is a nice pleasant day only cold & very rough roads it is cold & don't thaw any. at night I sorted some potatoes the pigs are dying again 1 more died. Georgia & the babe are doing nicely."

            Thur. Dec 19 : " In the forenoon I went up in the back woods & chopped some wood in lengths and threw it over the fence and in the afternoon I went up in the woods back of the barn & cut some tops of trees & threw it down & Johnnie & Mary came down awhile and they got 3 turkey hens and it is a nice day some cloudy & snowed a little fine snow & it is good weather or winter weather. 1more pig died. Georgia is getting along very well."

            Fri. Dec 20: " In the forenoon I cut some wood up in the back woods in lenghts & threw it over the fence in the big side Hill and in the afternoon I went down to West Hebron & took Eva & the children Eva went to school and it is a nice pleasant day. good winter weather. and very rough going so cold that it don't thaw no place at night I sorted some potatoes. Georgia & the babe are getting along very well the babe cries some."

            Sat. Dec 21: " In the forenoon I went up in the back woods and cut some wood & piled it out in the field and in the afternoon I chored around & Roscoe & I went up to Belcher & got the Butter box and it is very rough going  yet it don't smooth down any yet and it keeps very cold winter weather in earnest Georgia  is doing well but the babe is very cross & cries a lot."

            Sun. Dec 22: " We didn't go to church any of us so all stayed at home & kept house and it is a nice day only cold winter weather at night Johnnie & Mary came down & stayed till bed time and the wind blew hard from south west. some cloudy too."

            Mon. Dec 23: " In the forenoon I went up to the woods and cut wood & piled it out in the field and in the afternoon I chores around churned & husked some corn and it is not too cold to day the wind is in the South cloudy & looks like a storm before bed time it was snowing. Georgia & the babe are doing well."

            Tues. Dec 24: " Snowed 6 inches last night.  In the forenoon I drawed up some wood cross from the barn up to the house got the house got the sleighs out first and in the afternoon I drew up some wood & about night Eva & I went down to West Hebron & got some things for Christmas and it is not very good sleighing we went in a cutter nearly all sleighs & it is a nice day not very cold."

            Wed. Dec 25: " Merry Christmas  In the forenoon I chored around & husked some corn & drew up a little wood & in the afternoon I did about the same & it is a pretty cloudy day & snowed till about 10 o'clock about 2 inches more not very cold fair sleighing now. the ground is covered with snow not a green Christmas we had 2 chickens for dinner."

            Thur. Dec 26: " In the morning after I done the chores Roscoe & I drove out to Fort Edward & got some things I got a Diary & tried to sell some potatoes but couldn't get only 75¢ per bu. so didn't sell any for that money now and after we got home I drew wood awhile from back of the barn to the house & it is a nice day pleasant thawed a little fair sleighing."

            Fri. Dec 27: " The snow is nearly or all of a foot deep now it snowed nearly 6 inches more in the forenoon it snowed quite  a lot & I husked some corn & in the afternoon I went up to Harvey Reynolds & bought 12 Ewe lambs at $3¾  each $45 for all of them I didn't fetch them home the snow was so deep & not trod out. the children went with me & when I came back I husked corn & it is warm the snow is packing nice & won't drift now. Georgia is sitting up now."

            Sat. Dec 28:" In the morning I went up to Harvey Reynolds a foot & drove the lambs down home and when I got back I made a place for the lambs part of the cow stable & in the afternoon I husked a little corn & Roscoe & I took Mrs. Gilchrist home & drove down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is fine sleighing it is a beautiful day clear & pleasant it thawed a very little and at night it was warmer & looked like a storm."

            Sun. Dec 29: " It rained nearly all forenoon & pretty hard & a lot last night too. and it is a very sloppy day lots of water & slush cloudy & nasty day snow has settled nearly one half It kept warm all day and was warm at night but looked some cooler."

            Mon. Dec 30: " I husked corn nearly all day when I wasn't doing chores it is a cloudy day snowed now & then but not cold. Joe & Albert came up & helped me to ring the old hogs and I got nearly done husking corn & at night I sorted a few potatoes. it has thawed quite a lot but the snow fell so even that their is no bare ground & good sleighing yet. some cooler at night & cleared off."

            Tues. Dec 31: " In the forenoon I husked corn & got done husking corn & in the afternoon I drawed the rest of the wood from back of the barn nearly 6 cord now up I guess and Johnnie & Mary came down & made a visit and it is a very windy day & cool the wind blew hard at night & was in the West & got cold fast. We have come to the close of a nother year 1901 gone forever. It has been a prosperous year for us both Physically & Financially you might say Thank God.  We all enjoyed good health Ruby had the Croup last Spring & Georgia was sick & a baby girl was born on Dec 17. She is well but the babe isn't very well or cross. We didn't have very good crops but good prices more than made up I have bad rather poor luck with pigs recently lost 8 but don't complain Potatoes are a little off 65¢  now but have been 83: Oats are 65¢ & corn 80 I guess good bye 1901"
