            Mon. Jan. 1: "We sorted some apples in the forenoon & I boiled a Kettle of feed and in the afternoon we husked some corn and it is a cloudy day looks some like a storm."

            Tues. Jan. 2: "We sorted some seconds potatoes and chored around and husked some corn and it is good winter weather. and fine sleighing around here."

            Wed. Jan. 3: "In the forenoon we husked corn in the barn enough for a grist and sorted some potatoes and chored around and the snow came right down and it is a fearful day to be out   at night it began to pack & thawed some."

            Thur. Jan. 4: "In the morning we got out the big sleighs with Mothers & Rubys help and loaded up a  load of apples & Harry took a load out to Fort Edward 25 bbls at $1 per 150 # and the boys & I sorted a load of apples and chored around and it is a warm day but cloudy and the snow packed in good shape fine sleighing but not beat out very good."

            Fri. Jan. 5: "In the morning we loaded up a load of apples 24 bbls & Harry took the load on the big sleighs out to Fort Edward to Will McWhorter at $1 per bbl of 150 # and it rained a lot and was a bad day to be out and the boys & I sorted the rest of our apples and I husked a little corn in the hay barn and it is a cloudy & rainy day but good sleighing yet but sloppy."

            Sat. Jan. 6: "In the morning we loaded up a load of apples and Harry took them out to Fort Edward 24 bbls but only weighed out 21 at $1 per bbl and I chored around and husked corn in the hay barn part of the day and it is some cooler & very windy but a nice day He got home about night."

            Sun. Jan. 7: "Harry & Ruby went over to Adamsville I guess & stayed most of the day and we stayed at home all day with the youngsters and it is a cloudy day and looks like a storm but did'nt."

            Mon. Jan. 8: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes & Harry took the load with his team down to Battenville to Mr. Quackenbush 53 bu @ 1.50 per bu and I chored around & sorted a nother load of potatoes and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy & thawed a little    at night the boys and I shoveled the potatoes in sacks and Jim & Walt Lant came over here to see about going to morrow."

            Tues. Jan. 9: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Harry took the load with the big team down to Battenville to Mr. Quackenbush 57 bu @ 1.50 per bu and he started early and when he got back he took a grist down to West Hebron with his team & I chored around & husked corn in the hay barn and it is a nice warm day it thawed some but good sleighing around here. Mr. Skellie came up here & got 20 bu of seconds of Giants that Bert bought the other day at 80¢ per bu."

            Wed. Jan. 10: "In the forenoon Nell the old Grey mare died & we snaked her up in the field and we put the hay rack on the sleighs to draw rye straw it began snowing and we give it up & went at husking and Mr. Hunt the light man came up & we settled up and in the afternoon Marion & Mother drove down to West Hebron and Harry & the boys went over to Jim Lants & got 10 bu of potatoes to plant and I husked corn in the hay barn and it rained & snowed most of the day and it got colder at night."

            Thur. Jan. 11: "In the morning we loaded up a load of rye straw and Harry took it down to Argyle 1    # @        a ton and I chored around and he got back by noon and then we loaded up a nother load and he took it down to Argyle 2     # @     a ton and he took his team to take this load and I chored around and it is a cold day nearly zero all day here. below in places and a strong North wind fine sleighing for the amount of snow."

            Fri. Jan. 12: "In the morning we loaded up a load of rye straw & Harry took the load down to Argyle and I chored around and in the afternoon Harry took a nother load of straw down to Argyle.     

         # @          and I chored around and it is a cold day but pleasant & good sleighing around here & Ruby & James took Marion down to school & came back she is going home with some of the girls."

            Sat. Jan. 13: "In the morning Harry drawed 1 load of ice for Mr. Gilchrist & then it came on snow & they quit cutting and I chored around and sorted seconds potatoes most of my time & in the afternoon Harry took his team down to get shawd at West Hebron & got my sleighs fixed & it is a snowy day but warmer"

            Sun. Jan. 14: "In the morning it was raining right down and south wind was blowing hard and thawing but it soon quit and cleared off it is very icy and it is getting colder before night wind got in the West. We all stayed at home with the children Harry rode a horse over to the other place."

            Mon. Jan. 15: "In the forenoon we drawed Horse manure over on the hay barn field and in the afternoon Harry drawed ice for Jim Lant and I sorted some potatoes and chored around and it is a cold day but pleasant. Mother & James went down after Marion."

            Tues. Jan. 16: "Harry drawed ice for Theodore and I sorted potatoes & chored around and it is a nice pleasant day but cold I sold a load of potatoes to be delivered at Greenwich to-morrow for $5 per bbl. and Hazel began going to school at West Hebron with Marion again at night James Lant & his folks came over awhile."

            Wed. Jan. 17: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes  and Harry took them down to Greenwich 57½ bu @ 1.66 2/3 per bu or $5 per bbl and we got word that another calf was shipped to Fort Edward & we telephoned to South Argyle & had Harry come back by Argyle & bring the calf home with him   Mr. Kimball brought it out from Fort Edward. I sorted potatoes nearly all day & Harold helped some and it is a nice day some cloudy but cool."

            Thur. Jan. 18: "In the forenoon Harry drove up to John Fosters & got a bull calf full blood, and I chored around & husked some corn we finished what was in the hay barn and in the afternoon Harry & Ruby went down to West Hebron to the Farmers Institute and stayed down for the Evening session and I chored around cut some Kettle wood. and it is a windy cool disagreeable day & snowed but did'nt amount to much."

            Fri. Jan. 19: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Harry took the load down to East Greenwich & he had on about 58 bu @ 1.66 2/3 per bu or $5.00 per bbl and it is a cold raw windy day it kept getting colder all day and I sorted some potatoes and Harold helped me & I chored around   A. Gillett girl came home with Marion & Hazel."

            Sat. Jan. 20: "We sorted potatoes & chored around and a Man from Greenwich telephoned he would pay $5.50 per bbl for potatoes at Greenwich Monday    they are 5.25 at East Greenwich Monday & we chored around and it is pretty cold winter weather."

            Sun. Jan. 21: "I chored around and about noon Marion took the Gillett girl over home to Chamberlains mills and Mother rode down to West Hebron and stayed till she came back and it is a cold day but very good sleighing around here."

            Mon. Jan. 22: "In the morning after we done the chores Will McNeil came over and helped us to kill the pigs 6 of them & we kept 2 of the bigest ones and in the afternoon Harry took 4 of the pigs over to Eben Brown's 450 # @ 14¼¢ per # & he took 2 bbls of apples and took 3 bbls of corn down to the mill at Argyle & got it ground & I chored around & it was warmer in the morning & snowed about 4 inches last night it rained a little & made a crust nice sleighing again & the wind blew & kept getting colder all day."

            Tues. Jan. 23: "In the morning Marion took Hazel down to West Hebron to try the examinations & left her and after we done the chores we loaded up a load of rye straw & Harry took the load down to Argyle & he took another load down in the afternoon and I chored around & cut up the pigs or helped too and it is a cold day but pleasant some warmer at night."

            Wed. Jan. 24: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Harry took the load down to Greenwich 61 bu at 5.50 per bbl or 1.83 1/3 per bu. and he got back about night and I chored around and sorted some potatoes & husked some and it is a nice day but rather cold."

            Thur. Jan. 25: "In the forenoon we husked some corn for a grist and in the afternoon Harry took the grist & got the big team shawd and I chored around & sorted some potatoes and Harry did'nt get back till late and it snowed some & was cooler."

            Fri. Jan. 26: "In the forenoon we went down along the road in the lower fallow & cut some wood and at noon we got word from East Greenwich to bring potatoes at $2 per bu. but I hurt my ankle or instep so I could'nt step on my foot and we give up going & it snowed some & Harry sorted some potatoes & chored around and it is a cold raw day. My foot pained me fierce but got some better at night. In the afternoon Marion drove down to West Hebron & got Hazel."

            Sat. Jan. 27: "My foot was some better but we did'nt do much but chore around, sorted some potatoes and we wanted to go with potatoes they are worth $2 per bu. but is was to cold   pleasant but not so cold at night it was cloudy & snowed some after dark."

            Sun. Jan. 28: "We stayed at home all day with the children and done the chores it is not so cold to day but stormy it snowed a little flurry last night."

            Mon. Jan. 29: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Harry took them down to East Greenwich at $2 per bu they were the childrens and I sorted potatoes and chored around and I sold a load to go to Fort Edward to morrow for 2.10 and it is a nice day."

            Tues. Jan. 30: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Harry took the load of potatoes out to Fort Edward and they thought they were small & he had to take them up to Hudson Falls for $2    2260  Connors took 1000 # @ 2.10 per bu. and he did'nt get home very early I sorted potatoes and chored around and it is a nice day"

            Wed. Jan. 31: "We drawed manure all day over on the Hay barn field from under the horse barn and we drawed up 2 jags of wood from down along the road and it is a nice day   Rob Bain came up here and got 7 bu of Giant seed potatoes seconds."

            Thur. Feb. 1: "We husked corn most all day in the barn we got enough for a grist and it is cool too but some warmer it rained but frooze as it came another sharp crust. Marion did’nt go to school.”

            Fri. Feb. 2: “We went down along the road below the woods & cut wood all day and it is a cold raw & windy day in the afternoon Ruby drove down to West Hebron & got Hazel  Marion did’nt go to school . it is a cold night.”

            Sat. Feb. 3: “In the morning after we done the chores Harry took a grist down to West Hebron and was gone all day I chored around & sorted some potatoes and it is a cold raw & windy day.”

            Sun. Feb. 4: “We all stayed home till after dinner and then Mother & Marion drove prince for exercise they drove down to the Cemetery at Argyle & at night Harry & Ruby went down to Bert Skellies to see about the wood.”

            Mon. Feb. 5: “In the morning it was snowing and snowed till about 3 o’clock & then faired off so we got out the team  & opened out the road on our beat & it is a cold day & windy & blowed & drifted all day. but did’nt drift very bad.”

            Tues. Feb. 6: “In the morning we opened out the road & then we went down along the road & cut wood by the cow pasture the rest of the day and it is a cold raw day but a good day to work at the wood    I am not feeling very good today.” 

            Wed. Feb. 7: “In the forenoon We cut wood down along the road along the cow pasture and in the afternoon we drawed wood up to the door & cut some wood and it is a nice day some cloudy & some warmer”

            Thur. Feb. 8: “In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes & Harry took a load down to East Greenwich 57½ bu @ 2.00 per bu and I sorted potatoes and chored around and Harry got home early and it is a cloudy day and some warmer.”

            Fri. Feb. 9: “In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Harry took the load down to East Greenwich & Hazel rode down to school at West Hebron with him & stayed down at night and it turned out to be a stormy day it snowed most of the day & kept getting colder & I chored around and sorted potatoes and it is a bad day to be out.”

            Sat. Feb. 10: “In the morning Harry broke out the roads and then we drove down to the White place to see about getting a load of wood that the Skellies had cut for us, but could’nt find any wood cut and it was cold too The wind blew from the west last & did to-day & drifted in places in the afternoon Harry drove down to West Hebron and got Hazel & some gas. & it is a cold raw day I sorted some potatoes.”      

            Sun. Feb. 11: “In the morning after we done the chores Harry & Ruby drove over to Adamsville to Campbells and it is a nice day cold but pleasant  Harry & Ruby stayed all night.”

            Mon. Feb. 12: “In the forenoon Harold & James & I went down to Argyle on business we drove Prince and Harry & Ruby came home it is a very cold day but pleasant & no wind and in the afternoon we cut some apple tree wood up in the orchard and it is cold as ever at night  4º below zero at night.”

            Tues. Feb. 13: “In the forenoon we cut some apple tree wood up in the orchard and in the afternoon we took the team & went down to the White place and drawed some wood down out of the woods & brought a load home I bought 10 cords at $4 drawed down to the road and it is a cold day but moderating at night some it is cloudy & looks some like snow & began snowing before bed time. one year ago to-night Roscoe died. He is missed just as much as ever.”

            Wed. Feb. 14: “We drawed wood all day from down on the White place that we bought from the Skellies boys we got 4 loads and it is a cold day but pleasant fine sleighing.”

            Thur. Feb. 15: “We cut wood nearly all day down along the road by the cow pasture and it is a cold day but pleasant and the girls went to school to-day.”

            Fri. Feb. 16: “In the forenoon we cut wood down along the road by the cow pasture and in the afternoon we drawed wood up to the house. I helped to load & cut some wood and it is a nice pleasant day but cold fine sleighing & winter weather.”

            Sat. Feb. 17: “We cut wood down along the road by the cow pasture most all day and Marion & Hazel came home from Everetts and Marion & Marjory & Harold went down to Argyle to the Bank & got some money and it is a nice pleasant day some warmer now.”

            Sun. Feb. 18: “Harry went over to Adamsville & got his mother & brought her over here & Marion gave Ruby & her baby a ride & then Harold & James took a ride with her and it is a beautiful day thawed quite a lot.”

            Mon. Feb. 19: ” In the forenoon we cut wood down along the road below the woods and in the afternoon Harry drawed wood up to the house from down there I helped to load and cut some wood & split some and it is a nice pleasant day but cold.”

            Tues. Feb. 20: “It snowed some last night & is warmer cloudy & looks like a storm but cleared off before night & got colder again In the forenoon we husked corn and in the afternoon we drawed up a load of wood and it was so wet we quit & took his Grinder over to the other House and chored around he took his Mother home and at night Mother, Marion & Hazel went down to West Hebron to a Convention.”

            Wed. Feb. 21: “In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Harry took the load down to East Greenwich 52 1/3 bu @ 2.50 per bu. and I chored around cut some apple tree wood & split some wood up in the orchard. and it is a nice day fine sleighing it thawed some but not much.”

            Thur. Feb. 22: “Harry drawed wood from down on the White place what we bought of Skellies He got 4 loads we have it all drawed up 8 cord at $4 a cord I helped to onload and husked some corn and cut some limbs and it snowed nearly all forenoon but cleared off in the afternoon & was pleasant at night Marion & Hazel went back to West Hebron to a social.”

            Fri. Feb. 23: “In the forenoon Mother & Marion went out to Fort Edward & on up to Glens Falls and Harry & I cut the rest of the wood down along the road & trimmed up the rest of the trees and in the afternoon we drawed up the rest of the wood and it is a cloudy & cool day and we are ready for the sawing machine warmer at night.”

            Sat. Feb. 24: “In the morning Willett Gillis came down & sawed our wood 15 cord at 50¢ per cord & Rob Sloan came up & helped us to hand on I helped some but did’nt do much and we got done before night awhile and it is a nice pleasant day and thawed quite a lot in the sun but did’nt thaw much in the shade.”

            Sun. Feb. 25: “We all stayed at home and about noon Ralph Smith and his Sister came over to see Ruby & Harry and stayed till night & it is a nice pleasant day but cool at night it looks like a storm.”

            Mon. Feb. 26: “In the morning it began hailing & turned to rain and rained all day about & came right along part of the time and in the forenoon we both husked corn and about noon it let up a little & Harry took a grist down to West Hebron & left most of it and I husked corn & water is running everywhere even in to the cellar.”

            Tues. Feb. 27: “In the morning after we done the chores Harry & Ruby went out to Fort Edward & on up to Glens Falls on business and I husked corn & chored around and before night the boys and I took a small grist down to West Hebron & left it & brought home the one that was down there & it was bout night when we got home & had the chores to do. it thawed a lot to day and made the ice rotten but good sleighing yet.”

            Wed. Feb. 28: “In the forenoon we split wood at the door awhile and and chored around and in the afternoon we got out the old truck wagon & put on the rack and put the big sleighs away and chored around drawed over a little oat straw to the Horse barn & Ralph came over & got Harrys team & Effie came over to see the baby. and it is a nice day but cool it did’nt thaw much.”

            Thur. Mar. 1: “In the forenoon we chored around & a man came up from the County House to take Ruby & Harry & their things but I took their things down to the County farm & Marion took Ruby & the babe down and when I came back I cut some poles and it is a cool day but very good sleighing."

            Fri. Mar. 2: "I split wood most of the day at the door and done the chores & it is a nice cool day    it did'nt thaw very much and it is good sleighing around here"

            Sat. Mar. 3: "In the morning after I done the chores we loaded up what rye we had and then we took it down to East Greenwich 15 5/6 bu @ 1.35 & we got 1000 # of Bran & Middlings at 2.10 per cwt. and we took a sleigh & it went very good nearly all the way and it is a nice day it thawed quite a lot to day."

            Sun. Mar. 4: "We all stayed home and kept the youngsters and done the chores and it is a pretty cloudy day but cool & looks some like a storm."

            Mon. Mar. 5: "It snowed part of the day now & then and I sorted some potatoes & chored around and Marion took Hazel down to West Hebron to school   she is going to stay with Mary and it has snowed 5 or 6 inches guess but has blowed & drifted some."

            Tues. Mar. 6: "In the morning after I got the chores done I went out to Fort Edward & got the phosphate 1 ton at $30.00 and found very good sleighing it thawed some but pretty cold day cold at night."

            Wed. Mar. 7: "In the morning after I done the chores I went out to Fort Edward and got the wire fence I bought some time ago & got some more of the 5 strand I had to pay 36¢ a rod for it now and the sleighing is very good yet and it thawed some more to day but not very warm yet. the children have bad colds and did'nt go to school to-day."

            Thur. Mar. 8: "I husked corn nearly all day when I was'nt doing chores & it is not very cold it snowed some last night & rained part of the day and thawed some & it is cloudy and warmer and in the afternoon Marion went down to West Hebron & got Hazel she has a bad cold and is not able to go to school."

            Fri. Mar. 9: "I husked corn most of the day and I put up some oats for a grist and before chore time the boys and I took the grist 10 barrels of corn & 6 bags of oats down to West Hebron and left it and the sleighing is very good yet and it is a nice day thawed quite a lot."

            Sat. Mar. 10: "In the morning after we done the chores we drawed Horse manure over in the Hay barn field and we drawed over 6 loads and it went very well & then we went down to West Hebron and got the grist   some bare ground but fair sleighing and it thawed a lot it is a nice pleasant day but cool in the shade and quite cold at night."

            Sun. Mar. 11: "It snowed about 4 inches last night and snowed & rained some through the day it is a cloudy and dark day but not very cold   James was sick in the night and is to day."

            Mon. Mar. 12: "I sorted potatoes (Giants) nearly all day and I have the most of them sorted and it is a nice day it thawed a lot but the wind blew hard  nearly all day cooler at night & was quite cold. James is not much better he laid around the house all day. I called up Glines of Salem & sold our Giants to him for $3.00 per bu. delivered at Salem I promised 200 bu  that is an exhorbiant price."

            Tues. Mar. 13: "In the forenoon I chored around & husked some corn and Charley Crosier came along after some money for his son-in-law I agreed to let him have it or take a Mortgage on his place on Apr 1. and in the afternoon Mother, Hazel & Harry Oliver went down to see Ruby at the County home and I sorted some potatoes I have them all sorted now the big ones I am counting on 200 bu Giants sold for $3.00 per bu. and it is a nice pleasant day cool air but thawed a lot the sleighing is getting thin in places."

            Wed. Mar. 14: "In the forenoon I split wood at the door and in the afternoon I husked corn it snowed right down a bad storm it snowed 4 or 5 inches I guess or more but it is not very cold a nasty time no mistake."

            Thur. Mar. 15: "It snowed some last night very nasty time I husked corn most of the time or day   Mary & Margaret came up & stayed nearly all day and it thawed some but very good sleighing yet. cool at night."

            Fri. Mar. 16: "I husked corn part of the day and got most done and in the afternoon we drawed up some rails & old stuff along the road down below the woods and it is a nice day thawed some & Marion & Hazel went down to West Hebron & got prince shawd they drove wagon. and it is a nice day thawed quite a lot."

            Sat. Mar. 17: "In the morning when we got the chores done we took a grist down to West Hebron and got it ground & got the horses shawd and it stormed hail rain & snow and we got home about noon & in the afternoon it rained & snowed right down we finished husking corn and sorted some seconds potatoes and it is a nasty day we went in a sleigh."

            Sun. Mar. 18: "We all stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day pretty good sleighing around here yet. some wagons going it is very icy around here."

            Mon. Mar. 19: "I split wood at the door nearly all day and I had to work hard to keep warm it is a winters day no mistake wind blew hard from the North West. and it is fair sleighing around here. cold at night too."

            Tues. Mar. 20: "In the morning I got a Telephone from Glines from Salem to start the potatoes so when we done the chores we got the wagon out & loaded up a load & I took the load down to Salem 47 bu Giants @ $3.00 per bu and I did'nt get home very early it was very icy but I got along very well it is a cold day some cloudy & snow squalled some."

            Wed. Mar. 21: "In the morning after we done the chores Mother & the children helped me to load up a load of Giants 56 bu @ $3.00 per bu and it is a nice pleasant day warmer & thawed quite a lot but got colder at night & frooze hard & we put up a load in bags. and I got home before chore time and it went very well."

            Thur. Mar. 22: In the morning after we done the chores mother & the children helped me to load up and I took the load down to Salem 53 bu at $3.00 Giants and it went very well   the hill is very icy but it thawed quite a lot to day muddy some places & drying up in places and I got home in good season     at night we put up the last load in sacks it is cool too."

            Fri. Mar. 23: "In the morning after we done the chores Mother & the children helped me to load up a load of potatoes Giants 53 bu & I took the load down to Salem at $3 per bu this is the last load and it was very good going   it looked some like rain & did rain at night and Marion, Hazel & Harold went down to West Hebron to a show & stayed all night with their Grandmother & left Prince over to Everetts and it is a nice day wind is in the south & cool wind too."

            Sat. Mar. 24: "The children got home before noon awhile and in the forenoon I sorted some seconds potatoes and split some wood and in the afternoon I split some wood and chored around & it cleared of & was a clear day but the wind was colder & frooze at night."

            Sun. Mar. 25: "We all stayed at home and kept the youngsters and done the chores and after dinner Ruby & Smith & the babe came up and stayed till night    they say they like it very well down at the County farm and it is a nice pleasant day   pretty muddy & hard going now."

            Mon. Mar. 26: "In the morning we topped the trees and I split wood at the door and done the chores and it is a nice pleasant day muddy & hard going now."

            Tues. Mar. 27: "I split wood at the door most of the day and done the chores and it is a terrible windy day    wind is in the East or South it is cloudy & rained at night right down."

            Wed. Mar. 28: "It got colder last night & turned to snow it snowed enough to make the ground white & split wood & chored around all day and in the afternoon Mother drove prince down to West Hebron & got some harness mended."

            Thur. Mar. 29: "I cut some old rails to boil sap and we boiled sap all day and I split wood nearly all day and it is a windy & cool day and I chored around."

            Fri. Mar. 30: "I split wood nearly all day at the door and I got done and it is a nice day only windy & cool in the afternoon Marion went down to West Hebron & got her Grandmother & brought her up here to stay all night and it is cool at night."

            Sat. Mar. 31: "In the forenoon the boys and I drawed some straw over to bed the horses & Marion went down to the lower barn to get a load of Hay & drawed up on the barn floor for the cattle & cut some old rails to boil sap it is a good sap day and in the afternoon I took Mary down to Argyle & she took the stage & went out to Jen's & I done some business at Conways office and it was late when I got home and it is a nice peasant day   hard going   roads are drying up in places and it is warm & some cloudy."

            Sun. Apr. 1: "We all stayed at home and kept the youngsters & done the chores and Jim Lant came over & made quite a long stay he came to telephone to one of the girls out to Hudson Falls."

            Mon. Apr. 2: "In the forenoon the boys stayed at home to help we went down along the road & split out some posts & burned some brush and in the afternoon we drawed rails & old broken ones we drawed some of the rails around the fences different places & it is a nice pleasant day cooler at night."

            Tues. Apr. 3: "In the forenoon the boys stayed at home and we burned the rest of the brush down along the road by the woods & in the afternoon we drawed up old rails & rubbish and it is a cool day but pleasant windy."

            Wed. Apr. 4: "In the forenoon I sowed the grass seed on the rye up on the big side hill above the orchard and in the afternoon Mother & Marion & Oliver went down to the County house to see Ruby    and the boys & I drawed manure over on the big field   pretty wet in places   we got 5 loads out of the barn yard.  pretty hard going around here." 

            Thur. Apr. 5: "In the forenoon I tore down the rail fence up along the orchard & began laying or build it over and in the afternoon Harold & I drawed manure over on the big field and Marion & James went down to West Hebron and it is a nice day rather cloudy."

            Fri. Apr. 6: "In the forenoon I fixed fence up along the old orchard and Mother & Harold took the big team down to West Hebron & got them shawd and in the afternoon I finished fixing the fence up along the orchard and then the boys and I went down along the road & split the rest of the posts and sharpened them and it is a cloudy day but did'nt storm much till about night cooler at night."

            Sat. Apr. 7: "In the forenoon it rained & I chored around sorted some seconds potatoes & chored around & in the afternoon we drawed up a load of hay from the lower barn and and took Mollie & snaked some posts along where we intend to build a wire fence and it is a cold raw windy day   it snowed a little and got quite cold at night."

            Sun. Apr. 8: "We all stayed at home and kept the youngsters and done the chores and it is a nice pleasant day only cool & quite cold    last night it frooze quite hard  sap run to day   the snow banks are about all gone."

            Mon. Apr. 9: "In the forenoon Marion & Harold went over to Stewart Campbells & Andy Hugheys & got 2 Heifer calves & I cleaned out the Hog pen & the cow stable where Mollie stood & then went down & pealed the corner posts and chored around and in the afternoon Marion & I went down to Argyle & met a man from Glens Falls & got a typewriter from him   we drove 2  horses and it is very hard going around here   it was a Winters night   it frooze hard last night.  windy & raw day."

            Tues. Apr. 10: "In the forenoon I chored around and in the afternoon I drawed manure over in the back field or Hay barn field and in the morning we put away the heavy sleighs & cutters and it is a windy and disagreeable day & cold too it did'nt thaw out what it frooze in places."

            Wed. Apr. 11: "In the forenoon Marion & Harold went over to Stewart Campbells & got a nother Heifer calf and I chored around went up & burned some of the brush around the meadow on top of the hill and in the afternoon Harold & I drawed manure over in the Hay barn field & brought some old rails & wood with us when we came back and it is a cool & pleasant day but we are having winter nights."

            Thur. Apr. 12: "I drawed out manure over in the Hay barn field and I drawed up the rest of the old rails and chored around & I sharpened a few posts & it is cloudy raw day & time"

            Fri. Apr. 13: "I drawed manure nearly all day over in the hay barn field and I got the manure nearly all out from under the Horse barn and it is a nice day only cool"

            Sat. Apr. 14: "In the forenoon the boys and I drawed out manure over in the big field and drawed up a load of hay from the lower barn and in the afternoon Marion & Harold took a grist down to West Hebron & got Mollie & Prince shawd and they took the milk wagon and I began plowing for the first up on top of the hill in the meadow and it is a nice day only cool."

            Sun. Apr. 15: "We all stayed at home and kept the youngsters and done the chores and it is a cloudy day   snowed a little most all forenoon   very cloudy but the storm did'nt amount to much."

            Mon. Apr. 16: "I plowed nearly all day up on top of the hill in the meadow and it is cold as winter nearly it freezes every night and I find frost in places but drying up fast   it is so windy & cold it is drying up the ground very fast and I do most of the chores. at noon Jim the mail man sent a man up here after 30 bu of oats    not paid yet."

            Tues. Apr. 17: "I plowed nearly all day up on top of the hill in the meadow and it is warmer to day & pleasant David Macklin came up & got 20 bu. of oats and a man came here & took the beef cow   he killed her here. it is some like Spring to-day."

            Wed. Apr. 18: "I plowed most of the day up on top of the hill in the meadow and at noon Mother & I went up to Alexander Gourlays funeral   it was a large one and we got back about 2½ o'clock and the roads are getting very good now."

            Thur. Apr. 19: "I plowed all day up on top of the hill in the meadow & I got done plowing for oats and in the morning Walter Lant came over & got 30 bu. of oats and it is a nice pleasant day but cool north wind. Harry Oliver was about sick to-day. and at noon the lightening rod men came along and I let them the job of roding the House   & the Farm Implement men where along & I ordered a new Wheel Rake."

            Fri. Apr. 20: "It rained nearly all day it quit middle of afternoon and I chored around and in the afternoon I took Marion down to West Hebron she is going up to stay with Florence till Monday and it is a nice rain    grass looks green now."

            Sat. Apr. 21: "The boys and I drawed manure most of the day over in the Hay barn field and before night we had had a Thunder shower it rained quite a lot and is warm to-day   grass is growing now and it is very wet now."

            Sun. Apr. 22: "We all stayed at home and done the chores Harold & I went up to Willie Mahaffys and helped him to try & moove a sow that just had had pigs but did'nt make much headway. It is a nice pleasant day   some windy & the roads are drying up fast."

            Mon. Apr. 23: "In the morning the boys & I drawed some stone from the meadow on top of the hill & it came on rain then so we came down to the house and measured up some oats & then it faired off.  so I went up on the hill & dragged with the smoothing harrow and in the afternoon I finished dragging & took up the oats  and then I began sowing oats & Harold dragged till night and it turned out to be a nice day."

            Tues. Apr. 24: "In the forenoon Harold dragged up on top of the hill in the meadow with smoothing Harrow till I got the oats sowed and then I finished dragging in the oats and at noon the boys and I went down to Argyle & got the application filled out & sworn for the license for the car and in the afternoon I rolled the oats up on top of the hill and it is a nice day only cold & windy.   at night Marion came home."

            Wed. Apr. 25: "In the forenoon Harold & I drew manure down on the big field & in the afternoon I took a load of manure and I began plowing down there sod and at noon we drawed up a load of hay from the lower barn and it is a nice day only cloudy & cool."

            Thur. Apr. 26: "I plowed nearly all day down in the Hay barn field and I took 2 loads of manure down and it is a nice day   cool   good time to plow and it is windy & a cool raw day."

            Fri. Apr. 27: "It rained some now & then all day and in the forenoon I took an old cultivator and part of the spring tooth harrow down to West Hebron to get repaired & I took a small grist & got it ground and in the afternoon it rained some and I chored around & Eben Brown's boys came over & got some seconds potatoes 20 bu and it is a cool raw day cold rain."

            Sat. Apr. 28: "I plowed most of the day down in the hay barn field and I took down 2 loads of manure & spread it on and in the afternoon Marion & Harold took a grist down to West Hebron in the milk wagon and got it ground and it rained on them going down. grass begins to look green again."

            Sun. Apr. 29: "It is a nice pleasant day but cool air. We stayed at home all day & kept the children and done the chores and it is a beautiful day only cool air drying up some to-day."

            Mon. Apr. 30: "I plowed in the forenoon down in the hay barn field & took down a load of manure & in the afternoon a man came here & got 42 bu seed potatoes & Mr. Kimball when he came up after the milk he pumped up the tires on our car & put in the Battery & got it ready to run out & I helped him & when I went down to plow it was after 4 o'clock and I did'nt get much plowed I took down a load of manure."

            Tues. May 1: "It rained now & then all day I went out with a load of manure in the afternoon & plowed a little & it came on rain so I came to the house and it is a nasty day at night I went down to school meeting I was put in trustee   Clayton Barkley for Clerk & Charley Barkley for Collector & Treasurer & John Weir furnishes the wood   3 cord of $20. & put in shed.  a cold rain."

            Wed. May 2: "In the forenoon the boys and I went up to John Weirs & took the horns of our yearling bull and took a bu of potatoes up to Edd Pollocks & changed them for a bu of early ones and chored around and the lightening rod men came & put the rods on the house and it cost me $53.40 and in the afternoon I took a load of manure down on the hay barn field & plowed till night & it is a cloudy cold raw & windy day good grass weather & that is about all."

            Thur. May 3: "I took a load of manure down & put it on the Hay barn field and I have it all covered now and I plowed all day down there and it is a cloudy & cold day & windy too. In the afternoon Marion & Hazel went down to West Hebron and the boys took down Mollie down in the field that I am plowing & drawed of some chunks of old wood on the stone boat and it is cold weather for the time of year."

            Fri. May 4: "I was sick & in bed nearly all day and the children done the chores and my bowels seem to be the trouble   I was sick nearly all night and it is cloudy & cool day. I am better at night."

            Sat. May 5: "I chored around all day we drawed over some straw and drawed up a load of hay from the lower barn and I cut a few potatoes. I am feeling better to-day and it is a cloudy and rainy day it rained some most all day but not hard grass looks nice & green but a very cold & wet time."

            Sun. May 6: "We stayed home and done the chores and stayed around it is a very nasty time around the barn yard.    we feed the cows in the stable most of the time now."

            Mon. May 7: "In the forenoon Marion & Harold took a grist down to West Hebron & got it ground and I plowed all day down in the hay barn field and it is a cloudy & cold day rained a little."

            Tues. May 8: "In the forenoon I plowed down in the big field and in the afternoon I dragged with 3 horses on the Spring tooth Harrow in the hay barn field cloudy cold & raw weather rained scuds as it does every day"

            Wed. May 9: "In the forenoon I plowed down in the Hay barn field and in the afternoon I dragged with 3 horses on the Spring tooth Harrow and it is a cold cloudy & raw day and it rained a little now & then & windy."

            Thur. May 10: "In the forenoon I plowed down in the Hay barn field and I got done plowing for potatoes and Marion drove down to West Hebron for some repairs for the smoothing harrow and in the afternoon I dragged with 3 Horses on the spring tooth harrow and I got it finished and it is cloudy & cold raw day backward weather & cold."

            Fri. May 11: "In the forenoon I dragged the Hay barn field or potato ground with the smoothing Harrow and I got over it and in the afternoon Lyman Kimball came up and he took us all out to Glens Falls in the car   I run the car some and am trying to learn to run it and Marion, Harold & James went along and the boys got a new pair of shoes and it is a cold & windy day & rained now & then.  Mother & Marion went down to the Cemetery & set out some rosebushes on the lot."

            Sat. May 12: "I marked out the potato ground one way & some the other & it is a cold raw & terrible windy day I cut some potatoes and in the afternoon Mother & Olliver & Johnnie went down to West Hebron and we had quite a heavy shower milking time."

            Sun. May 13: "We chored around and after dinner Mother & Marion drove down to the Cemetery & watered some bushes and in the meantime Harry & Ruby came up here in their car and the boys and I & Smith took a ride down most to Salem in our car  I drove most of the way and I had very good luck and it is a cloudy day & cool too. The old cows each had calves."

            Mon. May 14: "In the morning we took some seed potatoes & Phosphate over in the Hay barn field & we began planting   I plant & the boys Harold & James drops the phosphate. and it is a pleasant day but cool air & got colder at night and a backward time."

            Tues. May 15: "I marked out some & planted the rest of the day over back and in the forenoon the boys droped phosphate and in the afternoon they took a grist down to West Hebron & got it ground and got the milk wagon repaired and Mother took Roscoes Wagon down to Salem & got Frank Wright to put on new Rubber tires on the rear wheels and it is a very windy & cold raw day wind is in the north."

            Wed. May 16: "The boys dropped phosphate on for potatoes and I planted potatoes over in the hay barn field nearly all day & marked out some and I cut some seed potatoes and it is a nice day some cool & cloudy.  Frooze"

            Thur. May 17: "I planted potatoes nearly all day over in the Hay barn field & I marked out some and I cut some seed potatoes and the boys dropped the phosphate for me and it is some warmer and getting quite dry."

            Fri. May 18: "I planted potatoes nearly all day over in the hay barn field and I marked out some and cut some seed potatoes and the boys dropped the phosphate for me to plant the potatoes and at night Lyman Kimball came up & I drove the Auto down to Salem and the folks all went and when we came back part of us went down to Argyle & took the cream and it is a nice warm day some cloudy."

            Sat. May 19: "I planted potatoes nearly all day down in the hay barn field & marked out some and cut some seed potatoes and the boys dropped the phosphate for me and at night Harry & Ruby drove their car up here and we all went out to Fort Edward   I drove the car and we had a mishap and left the car down to Joe Randles barn & I got Joe to carry Harry up home & get his car & he took or brought us all home but Ruby & he stopped & got her when he went back   it rained a little on us coming home. It is a nice warm day   leaves are coming out now."

            Sun. May 20: "In the morning after we done the chores Harry drove his car up & got me and we went down to Joe Randles & I drove our car out to Hudson Falls and he came on out in his car and the packing in the low & second gears is wore out and we had to leave it out & Harry brought me home. I run our car out all the way in high gear   it would run that way allright but in low & second it would grind fearful & it is a nice pleasant day warm too."

            Mon. May 21: "I planted potatoes nearly all day down in the big field and I marked out some & cut some seed potatoes and the boys dropped the phosphate and it is a nice pleasant day warmer at night it looked some like rain."

            Tues. May 22: "In the forenoon it rained some now & then and I chored around and cut some seed potatoes and in the afternoon I planted potatoes down in the big field and the boys dropped phosphate and it is a cloudy day and a cool South wind   grass looks nice & new seeding does too. Oats are doing well now."

            Wed. May 23: "It rained now & then all day or till about 4 o'clock and then the boys and I went up around the fence around the night pasture for the cows and looked over the fence around the fallow or young cattle pasture. and I chored around & sat around the house. and we had a nice rain grass looks good now."

            Thur. May 24: "In the forenoon I marked out some and then planted potatoes nearly all day and in the forenoon the boys went to school and in the afternoon the boys took a grist down to West Hebron & had to leave it and Mother & Marion drove the big team down to West Hebron & got them shawd and took  Harry Oliver & we had a thunder shower before night a little it rained quite a lot   it was rather wet planting in the forenoon."

            Fri. May 25: "In the morning we took out some potatoes and I marked out the rest of the field & Harold helped me to plant till noon & in the afternoon the boys went down to West Hebron & got the grist and I planted potatoes & the boys helped me to finish planting potatoes now and it is a cool day & time for this time of the year."

            Sat. May 26: "In the forenoon we loaded up what potatoes we had and the boys & I took them over to Eben Browns about 29 bu some at 1.50 & 2.00 & 2.50 amounted to 70.20 and we got back about noon and in the afternoon we drawed manure on the field above the road by the lower house and it is a nice day. at night Ruby & Harry & the boy and a nurse came up awhile and it is a nice day only cool."

            Sun. May 27: "In the morning after we done the chores Harry & a man drove his car up here & the boys & I rode out to Hudson Falls & we got our car & we all went up to Glens Falls in our car & got Miss Randles & another woman and the boys & I brought our car home alone and it rained quite a lot the roads are quite wet & slippery but we made it without putting on the chains.  It is a cloudy day some warmer it cleared off partly before night."

            Mon. May 28: "Harold & I drawed manure all day on the corn ground down in the field above the lower house & it is a cloudy day and cool too It looks like rain & did rain before night some."

            Tues. May 29: "It rained nearly all day and we had a big rain   it let up before night a little I did'nt do much in the morning the boys & I drawed some oats up from the lower house and it is a cold day we began takeing the milk to the cheese factory."

            Wed. May 30: "I plowed nearly all day down in the field above the lower House & back furrowed & plowed a land on the lower side and it is wet and plowes very good now  in the forenoon Marion & Mother & Oliver drove down to Argyle & put some flowers on Roscoes grave and others and it is very muddy but drying up fast and after we done the chores we all took a ride in the car down to West Hebron   the roads dryed up fast. I just begun plowing for corn."

            Thur. May 31: "I plowed nearly all day for corn down in the field above the other house and I finished the land & began plowing with the side hill plow and it plows very good and after we done the chores we all took a ride in the car down to Argyle and on down to see Ruby at the County Farm and it is a warm day & pleasant."

            Fri. Jun. 1: "I plowed most of the day for corn down in the field above the lower house it came on rain about half past 10 o’clock & drove me to the house but faired off at noon and it is a nice cool day to plow.”

            Sat. Jun. 2: “I plowed all day for corn down in the field above the lower House and it is very hot   the team sweat fierce. I did’nt get quite done and at night we all took a ride in the car down to Argyle and looks some like showers   the warmest night we have had.”

            Sun. Jun. 3: “In the forenoon we all went out to Hudson Falls and got the car fixed and we had a thunder shower while we were out there but we got home without putting the chains on   it was muddy   we came up through the swamp and we had a pretty heavy thunder shower and it got colder when it cleared off.”

            Mon. Jun. 4: “In the forenoon I finished plowing for corn and then I went at dragging with 3 horses on spring tooth drag and dragged the rest of the day and it is a warm day at night Ruby & Harry came up awhile and he fixed some fence around his horse pasture.”

            Tues. Jun. 5: “I finished dragging the corn ground with spring tooth harrow & went over it with smoothing harrow & marked the field out one way and it looks & did rain some at night and it is a warm & a nice day some cooler at night Thunder showers went around.”

            Wed. Jun. 6: “In the forenoon I marked out the field the other way for corn down in the field above the lower house and Marion & Harold began planting corn & I helped some when I got done marking out and in the afternoon we all planted and we got done in good season and after we done the chores we all went for a ride in the car and we went down to the County farm and Jen Durkee came home with us.”

            Thur. Jun. 7: “In the morning it had rained and the boys and I went at putting up the wire fence along the road & cow pasture & we worked at it most all day and we got it most done   the boys watched the cows pasture on the Buckwheat ground in the forenoon and in the afternoon Mother took Jen down to West Hebron to her Mothers and it is a nice day some cloudy.”

            Fri. Jun. 8: “We had a heavy Thunder Shower in the night   ground is wet now & we worked at the wire fence down along the road & lower fallow and in the afternoon Rob Sloan helped us and we got most done and at or about noon we had quite a heavy hail storm & Thunder   it  is a stormy time no mistake.”

            Sat. Jun. 9: “In the forenoon we took 3 Winter calves & turned them up in the back fallow and went down & finished the wire fence and fixed some old rail fence over & some gaps and in the afternoon we fixed some fence and put the crow twine on the corn & made part of the garden and chored around & done the chores early & then all took a ride in the car down to Salem & on down the State road aways & Mary & Jen went with us from West Hebron and it is a nice warm day   some cloudy.”

            Sun. Jun. 10: “It rained nearly all day & came right along part of the day we stayed at home all day and done the chores & slept part of the day and it is a great growing time for grass rye & oats and it is warm too.”

            Mon. Jun. 11: “In the morning we took some fence posts up to the top of the orchard & some wire fence & we put up some new fence along the top of the orchard & below the rye on the big side hill & it came on rain before we got done but we finished it & it rained all day & came right down by times. It is a wet time no mistake some are not done planting yet we chored around and put up a grist & cleaned up the engine in the Auto.”

            Tues. Jun. 12: “A very wet time in the forenoon   we fixed some fence & chored around and in the afternoon we drawed manure from the main yard to back of the barn with Mollie on the stone boat and it is warmer   it has cleared of partly.”

            Wed. Jun. 13: “In the forenoon we drawed manure awhile out of the yard and then took the team and plows & cultivators down to the Hay barn field & I started to plow on the other side of the swail for buck wheat and in the afternoon I took the smoothing Harrow & went over the potatoes till night and it is a very hot day   the ground is swampy in spots.”

            Thur. Jun. 14: “In the forenoon the boys took a grist down to West Hebron and had to leave it and I dragged awhile with the smoothing Harrow on the potatoes & quit & went at plowing for Buckwheat & plowed awhile & had to quit   a Thunder shower came up but did’nt rain much & in the afternoon Harold & I began cultivating potatoes over in the big field and it came on rain in a while & the boys went to the house & I kept at it.  At night we took a ride in the car and then went to Argyle, S. Argyle & Cossayuna & up along the lake & home.”

            Fri. Jun. 15: “In the forenoon I plowed over in the big field across the swail for buckwheat & the boys went down to West Hebron & got the grist and in the afternoon we both cultivated potatoes over in the Hay barn field and we got through them one way on top and at night we took a ride in the car down to Salem to see about selling the calves and Margaret went with us & we had a little bad luck just before we got home on the hill by the barn   I Telephoned for Patterson & he came out & helped us to put the car in the barn & took the broken piece to get a new one. It is a nice day drying up some.”

            Sat. Jun. 16: “In the morning we loaded loaded 6 of the calves and Harold & I took them down to Salem   3 of mine 552 # @ 13¢   one was Harrys 144 #    one was Mothers 141 # & one was Marions 137 # & we did’nt get home till most night & then we took a load of rails & put them on the fence up on top of the Hill in the cow pasture and it is a cloudy day & some cooler. the roads are getting good again.”

            Sun. Jun. 17: “It is a cloudy day and after dinner Mother, Marion & Harry Oliver drove down to the Cemetery at Argyle and put some water on the lot and it is a cloudy & cool day but did’nt rain.”

            Mon. Jun. 18: “In the forenoon I plowed for buckwheat over in the hay barn field and in the afternoon we both cultivated potatoes over in the hay barn field and Marion, Hazel & Marjory took Prince down to West Hebron & got him shawd and it is a nice day warm.”

            Tues. Jun. 19: “We had a shower last night & in the forenoon I plowed for buckwheat over in the big field and in the afternoon Harold & I cultivated potatoes over in the same field & the men from Hudson Falls came out & fixed the car and it is a nice day warm.”

            Wed. Jun. 20: “In the forenoon I plowed for buckwheat over in the Hay barn field and Harold cultivated potatoes over in the same field & in the afternoon we all went out to Fort Edward & Mother & some of the children stopped & done some trading & the rest of us went up to Hudson Falls & got some repairing done to the car and showers went around but did’nt rain much on us. it is a pleasant & Hot day a fine growing time now. grass oats & rye are makeing good now.”

            Thur. Jun. 21: “In the forenoon I plowed for buckwheat over in the big field and Harold cultivated some potatoes in the same field & in the afternoon we both cultivated potatoes over in the big field and after we done the chores we all went down to West Hebron in the car & Everett got in with us & we went over on the state road & up to Gillis’ & back home and it is a nice day   Hot too.”

            Fri. Jun. 22: “In the forenoon I plowed for Buckwheat over in the hay barn field and I got it all plowed & Harold cultivated some potatoes and in the afternoon we both cultivated potatoes over in the same field and at night we all went down to Argyle in the car & watered the lot and went down & got some gas  2 forks & some ice cream.”

            Sat. Jun. 23: “In the forenoon I dragged the Buckwheat ground over in the hay barn field with 3 horses on the spring tooth Harrow and in the afternoon Harold & I cultivated potatoes over in the same field & it is a nice pleasant day & warm Marion & Hazel went to the school picnic down to Lashers at the big lake and at night we all took a ride in the car out to Fort Edward & it began raining so we came back home   it did’nt rain much on us.”

            Sun. Jun. 24: “We had quite a big rain last night   We stayed at home all day and kept the youngsters & done the chores and after dinner Harry & Ruby came up awhile and it is a cloudy day but did’nt rain much to-day.”

            Mon. Jun. 25: “In the forenoon we chored around and put up a small grist and in the afternoon we all went out to Hudson Falls & done some trading at Fort Edward and got home by chore time and after we done the chores we all went down to West Hebron to Commencement   Mother & I & some of the little ones stayed down to Everetts and it is a nice day some cloudy it rained some.”

            Tues. Jun. 26: “In the forenoon Harold & I cultivated the rest of the potatoes up & down & then brought the cultivators & began cultivating the corn down the road and in the afternoon it rained awhile & then we cultivated some corn and it is a cloudy day Thunder showers went around at night. It is a very wet time.”

            Wed. Jun. 27: “In the forenoon Harold & I cultivated corn down in the field above the other house & Harold cultivated the rest up & down & I went across it and in the afternoon Harold & James took a grist down to West Hebron & got it back & I cultivated the rest of the corn we got through it both ways & it is a nice day some cooler   in the morning  Marion drove Prince down after Mrs. Bussing   she is going to help them 2 days”

            Thur. Jun. 28: “In the morning Harold, James & I took the car out to Hudson Falls & got it or the engine over hauled and it took us all day   we never got home till most night and then we milked & then we all took Mrs. Bussing down home & came right & then we got our supper and it is a beautiful day pleasant & warm.”

            Fri. Jun. 29: “It is a rainy day it rained some last night too. the boys and I drawed some manure on the stone boat into the back yard back of the big barn and chored around & sat around the house    great grass weather but bad weather for cultivating.”

Jun. 30: “In the morning the boys & I went up along the road in the upper fallow & cut some limbs of the trees along the road and fixed some fence around the cow pasture on round hill and then we came up & go the horses & cultivators and began cultivating the potatoes in the Hay barn field (Harold & I) for the last time and in the afternoon we both cultivated potatoes & after we done the chores we all took a ride in the car down to Salem & back home and it is a drying day pleasant & windy some cooler pretty cool for corn but potatoes are doing nicely.”

            Sun. Jul. 1: “We tried to start the Auto & could'nt & run it out by hand & started down the road but couldn't start her so we telephoned out after help & Mr. Patterson came out & he soon put it in running order at night we took a ride down to the Cemetery and around by North Argyle & up Todd St. Home and it is a nice day."

            Mon. Jul. 2: "In the forenoon Harold & I cultivated potatoes over in the hay barn field and in the afternoon I dragged the Buckwheat ground over with 3 horses on the spring tooth harrow and it

is a hot day."

            Tues. Jul. 3: "In the forenoon I sowed buckwheat over along the north side of the hay barn field and Harold dragged while with 3 Horses till I got it sowed & then I finished it and then in the afternoon I rolled the buckwheat ground and Harold cultivated some potatoes & it is a hot day."

            Wed. Jul. 4: "In the forenoon Harold & I finished cultivating the potatoes and then we got ready and took a ride in the car up to Glens Falls & back by Hartford & back to Argyle & around up by the big lake and home we took our dinner with us and at night we went down to Salem & got the bicycle and it is a nice day pleasant & warm."

            Thur. Jul. 5: "I shoveled out potatoes all day over in the Hay barn field & Harold helped some and it is a very warm day getting some dusty."

            Fri. Jul. 6: "I shoveled out potatoes all day down in the hay barn field and Harold helped some and at night I sold our calves & they are to go to-morrow & at night we all took a ride in the car down to Argyle & we stopped at the Cemetery and watered the lot."

            Sat. Jul. 7: "In the morning we loaded the calves 6 of them and I took them down to Salem   4 were mine one was Rubys (146) & 1 smiths (109) and Marion drove down to Argyle & Harold rode Mollie down & got the new Wheel Rake and Marion got a new milk can and it is a Hot day after I got home Harold & I went over & shoveled out potatoes till night. It is a very warm day."

            Sun. Jul 8: "Ruby Died 4½ O'Clock      In the morning just as we were milking we got a message that Ruby was very bad so I took Mother right down and Ruby was in a spasm and was very bad. 2 Doctors was there & took a child away a boy and was alive. I went out to Glens Falls & got a nurse for her I came home and the children & I went down after dinner and she was worse she kept having spasms till she died about 4½ O'clock     It was a sad sad thing to see her die in such misery but I think she was unconscious all the while    a undertaker came & brought her up home   

at night Mother came up with Harry. Clayton went over & got Mary The neighbors was here."

            Mon. Jul. 9: "Harry went over home in the forenoon Edd Burch came up & put in some window lights and before night Harry & I went down to Argyle & told Johnnie where to dig Rubys grave and there was a lot of callers here all day some body was here. Clayton took Mary & Lydia down home to get some clothes & they came back & stayed all night. & Harry went down  home & came back by Argyle and got Jen Durkee and it is a nice day & pleasant."

            Tues. Jul. 10: "It is a cloudy day but warm the funeral was at 2 O'Clock and it was a very large funeral and we went to the yard in Automobiles   Harry Day drove Harrys & Edd Burch drove ours. and it is a sad time & it rained a little on us all the way to the yard.  Harry stayed all night & Mrs. Smith took (Earl) Rubys baby over home.  after supper and chore time We all took Mary & Lydia down home at West Hebron in the Auto & came right back home."

            Wed. Jul. 11: "In the forenoon I put Paris Green on the potatoes over in the Hay barn field & Harold shoveled out potatoes and in the afternoon it rained most of the time and we cleaned out the Cistern it was a job so much Water in it and we cleaned it all out I think there was 10 rats in it and at night Harry came back & stayed all night and it rained quite a lot & in the night it rained."

            Thurs. Jul 12: "I put on Paris Green most of the day over in the Hay barn field and in the afternoon Harold shoveled out potatoes over there and at night we all went down to the Cemetery and drove down to Argyle. The flowers keep fresh on Rubys grave yet and it is a nice day & warm it dried up some."

            Fri. Jul. 13: "In the morning I was about laid up with my Knee being so lame so the children got up & got the cows & it came on rain & it poured right down till they got the cows they were soaked through and in the forenoon Mother & Harold took the big team shawd and I put on paris Green on the potatoes & in the afternoon Harold & I shoveled out potatoes over in the hay barn field & we finished shoveling out for this year.    and it cleared off & was a nice day."

            Sat. Jul. 14: "It rained nearly all forenoon and in the afternoon it partly cleared of showers went around   it is warm and very wet so wet we can't work the ground   poor hay weather   some have started to mow some   we got out the mowing machine and ground the knives & took the old rake apart."

            Sun. Jul. 15: "We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and after dinner we had a shower but did'nt rain much   after we done the chores we drove down to the Cemetery and watered Rubys grave, and it is a nice warm day some cloudy we went down to West Hebron & got Mary & took her up to church."

            Mon. Jul. 16: "In the morning I got up early and took a load of cheese out to Fort Edward and I got out there about 7 O'clock I got home before noon and in the afternoon Harold & I began cultivating corn down in the field above the lower house and Mother & I went down to Argyle to see Mr. Strong about fixing Roscoes picture in the stone   it has fallen out & at night we all went down to Salem & got some guards for the Mowing  Machine & Orrie & Eva rode down with us & in the forenoon Harold & James took Mollie down to West Hebron & got her shawd & some Knives fixed."

            Tues. Jul. 17: "I cultivated corn nearly all day down the road & Harold helped me some and it is a cloudy day   poor hay weather but warm."

            Wed. Jul. 18: "In the forenoon I finished cultivating corn down  the road   all done   the corn is very small and we had a shower last night and in the afternoon we had a shower but did'nt rain much but showers went around all afternoon and just as we got done milking we had a heavy thunder shower   heavy Thunder  poor time for haying."

            Thur. Jul. 19: "In the forenoon I went down & put some Paris Green on the potatoes in the hay barn field and the bugs are not very bad and at noon it rained some and showers went around all afternoon   I am ready to go at mowing but I guess I will wait for better weather."

            Fri. Jul. 20: "In the morning I mowed or cut some weeds along the road & then I took the machine up on top of the hill in the upper fallow & began mowing and in the afternoon I finished mowing up there & Harold began & raked up what I mowed in the forenoon & the children & I bunched it up and after we done the chores we all took a ride down to West Hebron and it is a grand hay day it looks some like rain at night."

            Sat. Jul. 21: "In the forenoon we all went out to Fort Edward & done some trading and in the afternoon Harold raked up the rest of the hay up on top of the hill in the fallow & the children bunched it up and Rob Sloan came up & helped me to draw in hay we got in 3 loads and it came on rain just enough to spoil our work showers went around & it rained a little last night otherways it was a good hay day."

            Sun. Jul 22: "We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and after we had dinner we all went over to Adamsville to Mr. Campbells & seen Rubys little baby & the other boy they are both well & doing well and we had a Thunder shower while we were over there   it did'nt rain much over there but it rained more here the heft went North. It is a very warm day    Hot & good corn weather."

            Mon. Jul. 23: "In the forenoon I mowed down in the lower fallow and in the afternoon Rob came up and we drawed in hay from the upper fallow and we got in 5 loads and Harold raked up what I mowed in the lower fallow and the children bunched it up and it is a grand hay day clear & Hot."

            Tues. Jul. 24: "In the forenoon I mowed the rest of the grass down in the lower fallow and then we went up & got a load of hay and in the afternoon Rob came up & we drawed in hay we got 1 load all that was in the upper fallow and drawed 5 loads from the lower fallow & Harold raked what I mowed & the children bunched it up and it is Hot & pleasant  Good Hay weather & Corn also   at night we all went down to Argyle & in the Cemetery & watered the lot."

            Wed. Jul. 25: "In the forenoon I mowed the hay on the side hill along the road in the upper fallow & in the afternoon Rob came up & we drawed in hay we got 4 loads from the lower fallow all of it & one load from the side hill in the upper fallow & Harold raked what I mowed & the children bunched it up it is a good hay day  Hot & dry."

            Thur. Jul. 26: "In the forenoon I mowed the East side of the corner of the big side hill above the rye & in the afternoon Rob came up and we drawed in the hay on the side hill in the upper fallow along the road 4 loads and Harold raked up what I mowed & the children & Rob bunched it up & I mowed some hay down in the garden at the lower house very heavy  at night we all took a ride in the car down to Salem & took some cherries down to Foster McEachrons."

            Fri. Jul. 27: "In the forenoon I mowed the rest of the hay with machine down to the lower house and up back on the west side of the rear end of the big side hill and we drawed 1 load of hay from up back and in the afternoon Rob came up & we got in 1 load of hay & and then a shower came up & it rained just a little enough to stop us from drawing we had heavy thunder  the lightening struck Billy Lliddles barn over on the Hanna farm & burned it to the ground it is a very hot day. We got out the reaper & sat it up."

            Sat. Jul. 28: "In the forenoon I put on some paris Green on the potatoes down in the Hay barn field and then I went down to Argyle in the car & got my cheese check cashed & the children & Mrs. Sloan went too   Mother stayed at home & when we came back we went up & got a load of hay & Harold raked the rest of the hay up back and the children bunched it up & in the afternoon Rob came up & we drawed in 3 loads up back we did'nt quite get it all. Harold raked the hay down at the lower house & the children bunched it up & then we drawed the hay 3 loads we put it in the barn down there   It is a nice Hay day clear & cooler. At night we took a ride down below West Hebron & back home."

            Sun. Jul. 29: "In the forenoon we started for Hudson Falls but did'nt go much further than Argyle it looked like rain we went in the Cemetery & watered the lot and then came back home & it rained a little but did'nt amount to much and it is a cloud day & warm."

            Mon. Jul. 30: "In the morning I went up & began reaping rye and I broke a bolt & went down to West Hebron to get it fixed and then we drawed in the rest of the hay up back part of a load and tried to fix the reaper but could'nt so I got the whole part or castine & took it down to West Hebron we all went in the car & we got it fixed right this time & I reapt rye for about 2 hours on the big side hill and it is a very hot day & clear but a good breeze."

            Tues. Jul. 31: "In the forenoon I reaped rye up on the big side hill & the boys took the truck wagon wheels down to West Hebron to get the tire sat and in the afternoon Rob came up & we bound rye up there most all the time and I am about sick and it is a fearful hot day to hot to work."

            Wed. Aug. 1: "In the forenoon I reaped rye up on the big side hill and in the afternoon Rob came up and he and I bound rye and the boys Harold & James sat it up and showers went around & it was a good afternoon to bind cloudy & cooler but was warmer about night & it rained a little very hot weather."

            Thur. Aug. 2: "In the forenoon I reaped rye & I got it all cut and Billy came over & bound rye for me and the boys went down to West Hebron took a grist & left it & brought home the wheels for the Truck wagon and in the afternoon Rob came up & we bound rye awhile and it came up a Thunder shower & drove us to the house it was a heavy wind storm & lightening but did'nt rain much and at night after we milked we all went out to Hudson Falls in the car   Rob went with us   it is warm yet."

            Fri. Aug. 3: "In the forenoon the boys and I went down & got the grist at West Hebron in the car & then I went up on the hill & bound rye the boys sat it up and the wind blew it all over   Harold raked it up and in the afternoon I finished binding the rye and then we all went out to Glens Falls & got our battery charged & Rob went along too. and it cleared off nice weather & windy & cooler wind is in the West."

            Sat. Aug. 4: "In the forenoon the children & I began drawing in our rye we got in 3 loads and in the afternoon Rob came up & helped us to draw in rye we got in 4 loads and it is a nice day warm but cooler air and at night we took a ride out to Hudson Falls to see some fire works. and did'nt get home very early and it is nice hay weather"

            Sun. Aug. 5: "There was no preaching at our church our minister is away taking his vacation and we stayed at home in the forenoon and in the afternoon went out to Fort Edward and on up to Hudson Falls & came back by Adamsville & seen Rubys children. they are getting very well and then we came home & it is a nice day Hot & dry."

            Mon. Aug. 6: "In the forenoon the children & I drawed in the rest of our rye in 5 loads and in the afternoon Mother, Mrs. Sloan & I went in the car down to Bert Skellies childs funeral and when we came back Marion & Hazel took the big team down to West Hebron to get shawd and Harold & James took Mollie dow
