            Tues.   Jan. 1: "12º below zero  It is very cold yet with to signs of any let up It keeps me busy nearly all the time doing the chores it is so cold that every thing is freezing up almost.  It is pleasant but colder than winter time."

            Wed. Jan. 2: "I chored around and that is about all I did do and I am busy most of the time too and it is the coldest time that I ever saw it is 60º below zero in places at night I went down to Argyle with Jim & Clarence Lant to sign his papers on the Draft law and it is cold but pleasant."

            Thur. Jan. 3: "I was sick a bed nearly all day I had the bowel trouble and was pretty sick last night and the children & Mother got the chores done and I was some better at night & got up but did'nt go out and it is a cold day  about cold as ever. a heavy White frost in the morning."

            Fri. Jan. 4: "In the morning after I got the chores done I drove down to Argyle and got some gas & other things and when I got home I went at the chores & it kept me busy the rest of the day and it is a nice pleasant day but cold it acts some like getting warmer and is good sleighing I am better to day."

            Sat. Jan. 5: "In the forenoon after we done the chores the boys & I took the team and went over in the back meadow and got some hay of the big stack & drawed it over to the barn 2 jags and in the afternoon Harold & James drove Mollie down to West Hebron & got the Watches and I done the chores and it is a pleasant day but a cold wind  It is cold at night but not so cold as it has been."

            Sun. Jan. 6: "Marion, Hazel, Marjory, Harold, James, John C. & I went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and we went in 2 rigs & Mother stayed at home & kept the youngsters & it is a nice pleasant day but cold yet."

            Mon. Jan. 7: "I chored around and husked some corn it is thawing some rained right down but frooze as it came and is very icy but it snowed some and rain together and it is a cloudy day."

            Tues. Jan. 8: "I helped Edwin Gilchrist draw ice from the mud lake I got 4 loads the ice is very thick about 22 inches of Water ice & I done the chores with the boys help it is a cloudy day & some cooler wind is in the West It snowed a little most all forenoon."

            Wed. Jan. 9: "In  the morning I went over in the back meadow & got a jag of hay the boys went too & then I took a grist down to West Hebron and got it back home and Mrs. Smith her daughter & Earl (Rubys little boy) came over to-day and it is a cool raw windy day good sleighing now."

            Thur. Jan. 10: "In the morning Harold and I went over in the back meadow & got a jag of hay and I chored around and husked some corn and Harold came home at recess & we went over & got a nother jag of hay and it is a windy & cool day fine sleighing."

            Fri. Jan. 11: "In the morning after we done the chores I went out to Fort Edward drove Mollie & Prince I went up to Hudson Falls and done some business and it is nice sleighing and the boys came up at noon from school & watered the cows & put them in and I got home early and it is a nice day not very cold."

            Sat. Jan. 12: "It snowed some last night and was raining in the morning and a heavy East wind and in the forenoon the  boys and I finished husking corn and in the afternoon we drawed over 2 jags of hay from the big stack over in the back Meadow and chored around it is a cloudy day thawed enough to start the water a little but turned colder at night & frooze up hard. rather icy now"

            Sun. Jan. 13: "It got very cold again and Mother, Marion & Hazel went to church and heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and they drove Mollie & Prince and I stayed at home and kept the little ones and it is a cold raw & windy day getting colder I guess all day & a strong west wind rough going & icy too."

            Mon. Jan. 14: "In the forenoon I chored around and sorted some potatoes and in the afternoon I went down & began cutting some wood along the road by the swamp and it is a cold raw windy day after school was out Harold and I went over in the back meadow & got a jag of hay and it looks like a storm at night."

            Tues. Jan. 15: "In the morning it was snowing right down & kept at it all day it snowed a lot last night it snowed nearly 12 inches in all I think I took the children to school & went after them and it is cold & windy but don't seem to be drifting very much lots of snow again."

            Wed. Jan. 16: "In the forenoon after we done the chores we went at opening out the roads Harold helped awhile and we took the children to school and in the afternoon I chored around & drove over to the stack & got a little jag of hay and then I went down & got the school children & Harold & I went over to the big stack & got a jag of hay and the roads are in good shape around here but we had no mail today."

            Thur. Jan. 17: "I chored around and our Engine would'nt work I went down & seen Lewis Matteson and at night he came up & looked at it & he said it wanted repacking again it blew out in the water tank. and I went down and got the school children took the team & then Harold and I went over to the stack and got a jag of hay and it is cold winter weather."

            Fri. Jan. 18: "In the morning after I done the chores Lewis Matteson came up & repacked the Engine & got it in working order and in the afternoon Mother, Marion, & Mary E. & Harry Oliver all went down to West Hebron & drove Prince and I chored around and after school Harold and I went over to the stack & got a jag of Hay and it is a nice pleasant day but cold."

            Sat. Jan. 19: "In the forenoon Harold & I drawed over 2 jags of hay from the big stack and it snowed so we quit drawing and in the afternoon the boys and I went down to the Cheese Factory meeting at the school house and it is a snowy day the storm came from the south but it kept getting colder all day most zero at night the snow is very light   it would drift if the wind blew any."

            Sun. Jan. 20: "Marion, Hazel, Marjory, Harold, John C. & I went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and Mother stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a cold winters day but pleasant   snow is deep & lots of sleighing   our water is very low."

            Mon. Jan. 21: "In the forenoon I chored around & sorted some potatoes & I telephoned to a man to come & kill our beef and in the afternoon Frank Allen came down & killed the old cow   I helped some & he cut her up and it is a nice pleasant day but cold."

            Tues. Jan. 22: "In the forenoon after I done the chores I went down to the woods & cut some wood and it came on snow at noon so I did'nt go back and it is a nasty & stormy day  at night we went over & got a jag of hay and it is getting colder but it cleared off about night & at night Will McNeil & his woman came over and spent the evening."

            Wed. Jan. 23: "In the forenoon after I done the chores I went down to the woods and cut wood and in the afternoon Marion drove down to West Hebron and got Hazel and I drove down to Argyle and got some gas & got my application blank sworn for our Auto License and it is a cold raw & windy day  drifting some but pleasant where the wind don't blow.  at night we went over & got a jag of hay from the big stack."

            Thur. Jan. 24: "I done the chores and then I cut wood what time I had down along the road by the swamp and at night we drawed over a jag of hay from the big stack in the back Meadow and it is a nice pleasant day but very cold last night if fact cold all day the snow is very deep for chopping."

            Fri. Jan. 25: "In the forenoon after I done the chores I went down to the woods & cut wood & it came on snow & in the afternoon I chored around & before night James & I took the team and went over & got a jag of hay from the big stack & it is a cold day but a little warmer at night."

            Sat. Jan. 26: "In the forenoon after we done the chores we went at drawing up wood from the woods by the swamp and in the afternoon we drawed up the rest we had cut and then drawed over 2 jags of hay from over in the big stack in the back meadow and Mother & Marjory went down to West Hebron to the Missionary Meeting at the parsonage and before night Marion and the youngsters took a ride and the wind got in the North & got colder at night   it drifted in places last night. It is a bitter cold night."

            Sun. Jan. 27: "Marion, Hazel, Harold, James, John C. & I went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and it was cold riding going north a strong breeze   Mother stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a pleasant day in the sun but cold wind & Winter weather   The coldest winter in ages."

            Mon. Jan. 28: "In the forenoon I chored around & helped the women folks to Wash and in the afternoon I chored around and it began snowing but was to cold to snow much it was below zero all day   it it keeps cold much longer every thing well freeze up I guess lots of snow & cold weather with it."

            Tues. Jan. 29: "In the forenoon after I done the chores" (several lines crossed out) " and in the afternoon Oscar Chapman came down & I visited with him and it is a cold day winter weather yet and severe too. In the forenoon after we done the chores Harold & I got the team out and went over the roads with a plow and opened them out a little better."

            Wed. Jan. 30: "In the forenoon after I done the chores I went down to the woods and cut wood awhile and went down awhile and cut wood again awhile and it is a pleasant day but cold yet"

            Thur. Jan. 31: "I cut wood down in the woods when I was'nt doing the chores and it is a nice pleasant day but it is a cold day in the shade but it looks as though it might be warmer now but is cold enough yet."

            Fri. Feb. 1: "In the forenoon after we done the chores we got out the team & snaked out the box and loaded up a load of potatoes and we took the load out to Fort Edward 64 5/6 bu @ 1.00 per bu to Will McWhorter and I started about 11 o'clock it was cold going home and I got home a little after dark   the boys done the chores and Mary" (Marion) "drove prince down to West Hebron & she stayed all night with Lydia & they went to a party up to Joe Reids   It is below zero at night."

            Sat. Feb. 2: "In the forenoon after we done the chores we put up some more potatoes in bags enough for a load & then we loaded up a load & I took the load out to Fort Edward 63 2/3 bu @ $1.00 and I started about noon & got home a little after dark and it was a cold day   Marion came home about noon    she was sick after dinner it is a cold day but clear"

            Sun. Feb. 3: "We did'nt go to church any of us so all stayed at home and kept the youngsters and done the chores and it is a cloudy day and about noon it began snowing and it snowed & blowed a gale and got warmer."

            Mon. Feb. 4: "In the morning after we done the chores we sorted enough potatoes to make a load & put them  in bags we loaded up a load and I took the load out to Fort Edward 58 bu @ $1 and I got home about dark and it was a fierce day to be out  cold zero weather and wind blew a gale and it drifted in places bad & the boys have bad colds but they got the chores done   Marion helped some and it is getting colder all day and a fearful night."

            Tues. Feb. 5: "In the morning we done the chores and I went over part of the road in the forenoon & in the afternoon I went over the rest of the road it was drifted a little in places but not very bad and it is a very cold day clear too it was below zero all day in the sun about 10 or 15 in the shade it is one of the coldest winters I have ever seen no let up to the cold weather it seems and lots of folks can't get any coal in the villages it makes it bad. our chunk wood is nearly gone."

            Wed. Feb. 6: "I done the chores and chored around nearly all day picked a few second potatoes and it is a cloud and stormy day but the snow did'nt amount to much."

            Thur. Feb. 7: "In the forenoon I drove over to the big hay stack & broke the road out and then I took a grist down to West Hebron and left it and got some gas and after dinner I chored around and after school was out Harold & I went over & got a jag of hay and it is a cloudy day but is getting colder down to 14º above zero 12º colder than in the morning."

            Fri. Feb. 8: "I chored around and I sorted a few potatoes and after school was out Harold & I went over back & got a jag of hay and at night Marion, Hazel, Harold & I went down to Argyle to a Basket Ball game and it is a cold night  too much snow for good traveling   the children have bad colds."

            Sat. Feb. 9: "In the forenoon Harold & James & I went down to West Hebron and got the grist and it snowed & hailed to beet the deuce a bad storm & it kept it up most all day and it is not quite so cold as it has been."

            Sun. Feb. 10: "Marion, Hazel & I went to church and we drove prince we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and services was held in the back room and Mother stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a cloudy & stormy day   it snowed most of the day."

            Mon. Feb. 11: "I am about sick with a cold I helped to do the chores in the morning & noon Mother and the children done the chores at night their colds are not much better and it is some warmer but windy  the snow is packing some to day for the first time in a long time. Edward Gilchrist came down & got Roscoes top cutter to go after his Father to-morrow."

            Tues. Feb. 12: "I am some better to-day I stayed in the house part of the day in the afternoon Charley Chamberlain came along with a big load of mooving & stopped and fed his team & got a bite and Edwin brought the cutter back and about night Harold & I went over & got a load of hay or a jag and 2 years ago Roscoe got kicked & fatally hurt. it is getting soft it acts like a thaw."

            Wed. Feb. 13: "It thawed a lot I took the children to school & went after them   at night water was running quite freely in the road & fields. I sorted & put potatoes in bags most of the day and at night Harold & James helped me to finish the load of potatoes and we went over & got a load of hay & it was pretty soft   it got colder at night & the water drying up."

            Thur. Feb. 14: "2 years ago this morning Roscoe died. We got up early and when we done part of the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes and I took the load out to Fort Edward 62 bu @ $1  per bu  I did'nt get my pay and I brought home my Fertilizer 1 ton that I got of John McKernon and I got home before sun down and it is good going   it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy & getting warmer again."

            Fri. Feb. 15: "It has thawed a lot the snow has settled a lot   water is running every where and I chored around   I sold 450 bu Giants to Arthur Glines   I can draw ½ of them soon   I am to get the market price and in the afternoon Marion & I went over to church & heard a sermon by Mr. Stewart of Greenwich & when we got home I went down & got the school children   plenty of water now. & warm too but getting colder at night."

            Sat. Feb. 16: "We got the water started in the barn yard again and we chored around & sorted some potatoes & put them in bags and it is colder again but a nice day & Looked like a storm again at night   We started to get a load of hay but on account of so much water we could'nt get across the swamp."

            Sun. Feb. 17: "We did'nt go to church so we all stayed at home and kept the youngsters and done the chores It snowed last night about 3 inches very dry or light   quite cold again   the snow coveres up the ice & makes hard walking."

            Mon. Feb. 18: "In the forenoon after we done the chores I drove up above Belcher aways & Met a man by the name of Charles Spring to talk over business matters pertaining to a place up at East Hartford and in the afternoon I sorted a few potatoes & chored around and after school was out the boys and I drawed up 2 loads of wood from down along the road by the swamp and it is a nice day but cold   at night Mother & Marion went down to W. Hebron to a lecture."

            Tues. Feb. 19: "I done the chores & sat around the house most of the   day it is a bad day to be out  rain & hail most of the day   a Jew dealer came along & we sold him some Butter at 50¢ per # I went down & got the school children   there is water everywhere it is warm & thawing at night."

            Wed. Feb. 20: "It was warm in the morning and thawed a lot   water running all over & a lot of water in our cellar but the wind got in the West & blew a gale all day and kept getting colder all day 46º above   I chored around & sat around the house   it is very icy now every where."

            Thur. Feb. 21: "In the morning after we got the chores done Hugh Sloane came up & we went down in the woods along the road & cut cord wood and we cross cut some of it and it is a winters day alright below zero all day in shade & windy too. very icy too most everywhere."

            Fri. Feb. 22: "It is a nother winters day cold & windy and cloudy & snowed a little nearly all afternoon  it got a little warmer about 10º above   In the forenoon I chored around and sat around the house  I had the blues   after we done the noon chores the boys and I went down in the woods & piled up the wood & split some & trimmed up one top and it is very icy."

            Sat. Feb. 23: "In the morning after we done the chores Rob Sloane came up and he and I cut wood   we cut the White oak tree up on the side hill cross from the barn and it is a nice day cool but warmer & some cloudy very icy yet."

            Sun. Feb. 24: "Marion, Hazel, Marjory, Harold, James & I went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & we stayed for sunday school   Mother stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is good sleighing but icy in places  it is cloudy & looks like a thaw."

            Mon. Feb. 25: "In the morning after we done the chores we took the team down to Lewis Mattesons & got them shawd and then we came back & loaded up a load of potatoes Giants & I took them down to Salem   we can draw some down & store them and it is a warm day the sleighing went fast do-day   it is poor in places down Salem way water was running everywhere   at night it looked like a storm."

            Tues. Feb. 26: "It rained a lot last night   Water is very high  icy again  the South wind cut the snow  lots of bare ground in the fields now   the wind blew a perfect gale all day   I chored around & sorted a few potatoes & sat around the house   at night Marion, Hazel, Marjory, Harold, James & I went over to the church to a social & Mother stayed at home & kept the youngsters and it is very icy in the roads."

            Wed. Feb. 27: "In the forenoon I chored around & cut a few limbs at the door into stove wood and in the afternoon I went drawing wood to the house from up in the field cross from the barn the boys helped after school was out & we got the oak tree all drawed up & 1 load from down in the woods and it is a nice day rather cloudy."

            Thur. Feb. 28: "In the forenoon Harold & I drawed up wood from down in the woods by the swamp and we got it all up we have cut & in the afternoon we went down to the White place & got a load of wood that the Scott boys cut for us & then Harold took the cutter down to Lewis to get repaired and it snowed some about night   very icy yet."

            Fri. Mar. 1: "It snowed about 3 inches in the night so we loaded up a load of potatoes after we done the chores & I took the load down to Salem & stored them  54 bu Giants and it was very icy under the snow but was fine sleighing   at night we sorted another load and it did'nt thaw very much  it snowed a little most all forenoon."

            Sat. Mar. 2: "In the morning after we done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes Giants 66 bu & stored them and it thawed some to-day but good sleighing most all the way and I got home chore time and at night we sorted most another load and it is a nice day windy at night."

            Sun. Mar. 3: "Mother, Marion, Hazel, Harold, James & John C. went to church and heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school & I stayed at home & kept the young-sters and it is a very windy day the wind blew fierce last night  not very cold   it thawed in the sun but the sleighing is very good yet around here."

            Mon. Mar. 4: "In the morning after we done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes Giants 63 bu and the sleighing is very good & we are storeing them   I contracted the giants to day for 1.25 per bu. I got home about chore time and it is a nice day   cool in the morning   zero in places."

            Tues. Mar. 5: "In the forenoon I chored around and put up a grist and in the afternoon I took the grist down to West Hebron and got it ground and it is a cloudy day   it snowed about 3 inches last night   it helped the sleighing    Burch & Kilmers man came up & fixed the pump & put in a Window light."

            Wed. Mar. 6: "In the morning after we done the chores Mother and I went up to John Gibsons on business  we sold a place up at East Hartford to Charles Spring for $400 & got the cash & it rained & frooze as it came a bad storm   getting colder all the time   Marion kept the youngsters   when we got back Mother & Marion went down to West Hebron to a convention at the church & stayed down till after the night session and I kept the youngsters   it is a cloudy day cool at night & fearful icy again."

            Thur. Mar. 7: "It snowed last night & nearly all forenoon  it is about 4 inches more or deeper   I chored around & sorted some potatoes   I did the same in the afternoon   it will help the sleighing   it cleared off at night or before awhile   It is quite cold at night"

            Fri. Mar. 8: "In the forenoon I went over to the lake at Porter Burgess & got a gobbler 4.00 and in the afternoon I sorted some potatoes & after school was out we drawed up some hay & it is a nice day   it thawed some and is very good sleighing around here."

            Sat. Mar. 9: "In the morning after we done the chores Mother & I went out to Fort Edward & on up to Hudson Falls and had to go to the clerks office on account of a blunder in drawing up the deed by John Gibson not being qualified   we took the big team & sleighs & brought home bran & Middleings ½ ton and got home about night   the children all stayed at home & done the chores   it is cloudy but not very cold and very good sleighing."

            Sun. Mar. 10: "It snowed nearly all day & blowed a fearful gale   it was a young blizzard   drifted & kept getting colder all day   it was down to about 10º above zero & getting colder   We did'nt go to church."

            Mon. Mar. 11: "In the morning after we done the chores Harold and I opened out the roads   it was drifted bad up the road   we had to shovel a lot. In the afternoon I sorted potatoes and after school was out Harold, James & I went over to the big stack and got a jag of hay and it cleared off and is a nice day warmer at night."

            Tues. Mar. 12: "I chored around and sorted potatoes part of the day and after school was out we drawed over 2 jags of hay from the stack in the back meadow and it is thawing quite a lot at night south wind & it is cutting the snow."

            Wed. Mar. 13: "In the morning after we done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes Giants and I took them down to salem over 70 bu and it is good sleighing and I got home about chore time and a night the children and I put up a load of potatoes in bags and it is a nice day and very good sleighing but it thawed a lot to-day water was running most every where."

            Thur. Mar. 14: "It snowed last night & was in the morning but after we done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes Giants and I took them down to Salem at 1.25 per bu. and it is a cloudy day but cleared of before night   I got home about chore time   at night the children & I put up a load of potatoes in bags to go to morrow."

            Fri. Mar. 15: "In the morning after we done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes Giants and I took them down to Salem   it was a cold day   it kept getting colder all day and is a cold raw & windy day   I got home about chore time   it is a cold night   the children & I put up a nother load in bags   it is the last of the Giants."

            Sat. Mar. 16: "In the morning we done the chores and sat around awhile it was so cold but about 10 o'clock we loaded up the load & I took the load down to Salem of Giants   it is the last load 1.25 per bu. it was very good sleighing all the way down to Salem village but is is poor down there I got home about dark   it is warmer at night.  pleasant."

            Sun. Mar. 17: "We all went to church we drove Mollie & prince & the big sleighs and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and it is a nice day it thawed a lot to-day but very good sleighing."

            Mon. Mar. 18: "I drawed wood from down on the White place Harold helped me in the forenoon I got it all up in 3 loads about 2 3/4 cords and after school was out we drawed over 2 jags of hay from the big stack and it is a nice warm day   thawed a lot."

            Tues. Mar. 19: "In the morning after we done the chores done we all got ready and went up to Oscar Chapmans Auction & stayed all day and it is a beautiful day pleasant & thawed a lot    the sleighing is about gone.  we was home late."

            Wed. Mar. 20: "In the forenoon (after we done the chores) I went down to Argyle and done some business and went in a sleigh but was no sleighing and in the afternoon I cut some wood & when school was out we drawed over a load of hay on the wagon,. and it is a nice pleasant day   warm & thawed a lot."

            Thur. Mar. 21: "In the morning after we done the chores Willett Gillis came down and sawed the wood 8 cord & Clarence Lant & Fred their man came over & helped   us one man helped Willett & one helped me and we got done a little after noon and Mr. Elliott came up and put conductors on the piazza & done some soldering and I topped the trees and it is a beautiful day warm as summer the sleighing is gone & at night Peter Busseno brought a load of potatoes up & left them in the barn"

            Fri. Mar. 22: "In the morning after we done the chores Mr. Craig broke the tongue out of his wagon & came back & got our wagon to take his load of potatoes and I went down and helped him to onload and he got stuck in the ditch. we helped him again and I cut limbs and chored around and after school was out Harold & I went over & got a load of hay and it is a nice pleasant day thawed a lot."

            Sat. Mar. 23: "It got colder last night   In the morning after we done the chores the boys took Mollie down to Cossayuna & got some Rubber boots & shoes for themselves & they took down some butter and I cut the rest of the limbs &  began splitting wood at the door and it is a pleasant day but colder & windy a  March day    about night the boys and I went over & got a load of hay."

            Sun. Mar. 24: "Marion, Hazel & Harold went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and they rest of us stayed at home and kept house and it is a nice pleasant day and after we had dinner Mother & Marion went down to West Hebron and seen Margaret   she is sick & Marion stayed down to help Lydia."

            Mon. Mar. 25: "In the morning as we got the chores done we got down the sap pan & made a place to boil sap & boiled all day & I cut some old rails & split wood at the door & it is a good sap day & is pleasant."

            Tues. Mar. 26: "In the morning after we done the chores we went at boiling sap again and I cut some old rails and split wood at the door all day it is pleasant but cooler wind got in the north   sap did'nt run so good to-day."

            Wed. Mar. 27: "I split wood most all day at the door and done the chores and it is a nice day only cool & some windy   March weather   In the afternoon Lydia brought Marion home the roads are pretty muddy and Mr. Craig brought home our wagon."

            Thur. Mar. 28: "In the forenoon I split wood at the door & Harold helped me and we got done and in the afternoon I went down to Argyle & took Hugh Sloan down with me we done some business and the roads are drying up in places and after we came back they boys and I went over & got a load of hay."

            Fri. Mar. 29: "In the forenoon I cut some old wood to boil sap with and chored around and in the afternoon the boys and I Drawed over hay from the big stack 3 loads & we have it about all drawed over and it is a good sap day   it frooze quite hard last night."

            Sat. Mar. 30: "In the forenoon I cut some old wood to boil sap and sorted some potatoes and Harold & James took a small grist down to West Hebron & got it home again and in the afternoon we sorted potatoes 37 bu Giants 54 bu Smiths and Marion was about sick   it is a nice warm pleasant day."

            Sun. Mar. 31: "Mother, Hazel, Marjory, Mary E. Harold & John C. went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and Marion & I stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day warm a nice Spring day."

            Mon. Apr. 1: "In the forenoon I sorted potatoes and chored around and in the afternoon I sorted some potatoes and trimmed a few apple trees and chored around and it is a beautiful day warm as summer. I got over $300 interest paid to me to-day."

            Tues. Apr. 2: "In the forenoon I trimed a few apple trees & burned the brush up on the side hill the Oak tree that was cut in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon I shelled some seed corn & moved the sleighs in the Horse barn and changed the rack on the truck wagon and after school was out we went over back and got a load of hay. It is a warm & pleasant day   the roads are drying up fast.”

            Wed. Apr. 3: “In the forenoon I trimed some apple trees and chored around and the grass seed came to-day and in the afternoon Mother, Marion & Harry O. took the big team down to West Hebron and got them shawd and I trimed apple trees & Billy came along and helped me to wring the pigs and it is a cool raw day wind was in the north all day.”

            Thur. Apr. 4: “In the forenoon I took the hay rack down to Lewis Matteson & left it to be repaired and drove up to Billys & helped him to wring his pigs & cut his little pigs and in the afternoon I trimed apple trees & trimed up the brush and it is a pleasant day & cold nights. Harry Oliver had the Croup last night   I was up most all night.”

            Fri. Apr. 5: “In the forenoon I sowed the grass seed on the rye up on top of the hill in the meadow and in the afternoon I trimed the brush & apple trees and went down to Lewis’ & got the hay rack and it is a nice pleasant day but cold nights   sap run some   Harry Oliver has a bad cold it is not much better.”

            Sat. Apr. 6: “In the forenoon I trimed the rest of the apple trees and Harold & James went down to Mac Shields & got a plow shoe & a point and when they came back we went over back and got a load of hay and in the afternoon the boys and I loaded or drawed manure from the barn yard out in the field cross from the barn and 1 load down to the garden at the other house and the women folks boiled sap and it run pretty good. It is a nice pleasant day   some warmer   the youngsters have bad colds.”

            Sun. Apr. 7: “Mother, Hazel & Harold went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and Marion & I stayed at home and kept the youngsters and we all have bad colds   it is a nice pleasant day   some windy.”

            Mon. Apr. 8: “In the morning the boys and I went over back and got a load of hay and it came on rain and rained a little most all day but it did’nt amount to much   just about a mist or to wet a little I chored around and sat around the house and sorted a few potatoes.”

            Tues. Apr. 9: “It rained a lot last night and in the morning it turned to snow and it snowed & blowed all day & was cold   the storm came from the north & was cold too   it thawed a lot but the ground is white. I chored around & sat around the house. I am about sick with a cold   the childrens colds are some better.”

            Wed. Apr. 10: “I chored around and did’nt do much but chore around and sit around the house I am about sick with a cold it is a backward time   cloudy & cold & snowy.”

            Thur. Apr. 11: “In the morning after we done the chores Mother & Marion drove Prince & Mollie out to Fort Edward & they went on up to Hudson Falls and seen the Auto & I stayed at home and kept the youngsters & when school was out Harold & I went over to the stack & got a load of hay and then I trimed up the rest of the brush in the orchard and they got home before night   it was hard going   they done some trading.”

            Fri. Apr. 12: “Marion went over after Mrs. Smith & Earl & they stayed most all day   Harold took them home at night   I sorted some potatoes & shelled some corn and it snowed some nearly all day cloudy & a nasty time. Charley Barkley came up & got 10 ¼ bu rye at 2.25 per bu.”

            Sat. Apr. 13: “In the morning after we done the chores I took the team & big wagon down to Salem & got a ton of phosphate that I bought of Archie White last winter and I took a small grist down to West Hebron & the boys came down and got it after I went awhile and it was most night when I got back   it is very muddy   the snow thawed of the road in a little while   it snowed about 4 inches yesterday nasty time now.”

            Sun. Apr. 14: “Marion, Hazel & Harold went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. Safford and they stayed for sunday school and Mother & I stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day warm & thawed a lot of the snow away   it melted the most of it away. Mary Ann cow had a calf Heifer”

            Mon. Apr. 15: “In the morning Harold & I went over & got a load of hay and then I began plowing down in the field above the lower house and it was pretty wet too in places and I plowed most of the day and it was pretty warm too & Oscar Chapman came down & stayed all night.”

            Tues. Apr. 16: “I plowed most of the day down in the field above the lower house & in the afternoon Marion took Oscar up to Belcher and it is a very warm day & pleasant   the team sweats fierce and after school is out the boys drawed up the limbs that I trimed down in the orchards”

            Wed. Apr. 17: “I plowed most all day down in the field above the lower house and after school was out Harold & I went over in the back meadow & got a load of hay and it is a nother nice day pleasant & warm too   at night it looked like a shower   it thundered some.”

            Thur. Apr. 18: “In the forenoon I plowed down in the field above the lower house & it came on rain before noon a little and it rained some most of the afternoon   I sorted some potatoes & the boys helped me to clean out the back house and we chored around   it partly cleared of before night & was warm too.”

            Fri. Apr. 19: “It snowed last night the ground was white in the morning and it all went off by noon   it was cool but got warmer. In the forenoon I finished plowing the field down above the lower house & in the afternoon Harold stayed at home and helped me to draw out manure   we drawed some down on the garden spot at the other house & one load on the Hill cross from the barn & 1 load over in the back meadow and it is a nice pleasant day.”

            Sat. Apr. 20: “In the morning after we done the chores the boys & I went at drawing Horse manure over in the back meadow & we worked at it all day   we got over 6 big loads and we brought back a jag of hay every time and it is a cloudy day cool & it began raining about night it frooze hard last night   the childrens colds are getting better. We put the pigs over in the hog pen.”

            Sun. Apr. 21: “There was no services at our church so we did’nt go to any other church so all stayed at home and it is a cloudy & rainy day   it rained a lot   it is a wet time but grass looks nice & green.”

            Mon. Apr. 22: “I sorted potatoes and chored around it rained nearly all forenoon but did’nt rain in the afternoon but was cloudy looked like rain   it is very wet   at night it began raining again.”

            Tues. Apr. 23: “I plowed the piece down at the other house it was sod & plenty wet too   it is a cloudy day and it began raining at night again. after school was out Harold & I took a load of manure over in the back meadow & brought back a jag of hay.”

            Wed. Apr. 24: “I began plowing over in the big field and I took 2 loads of manure over in the back meadow   Harold helped me and it is a cold raw windy day   it rained quite a lot last night I guess but dried off fast to-day.”

            Thur. Apr. 25: “I plowed nearly all day over in the back big field for corn   Harold helped me to draw 2 loads of manure and it is a nice pleasant day   in the afternoon Mother, Marion & Harry Oliver drove Prince down to West Hebron & it is drying up fast. cold last night.”

            Fri. Apr. 26: “In the forenoon I plowed over in the big field for corn Harold & I took a load of manure over in the back meadow in the morning & put on a jag of hay and in the afternoon I dragged the field above the lower house over with a smoothing Harrow for to sow oats. and Katsman came here & got a load of old iron. 1800   It is a nice day clear & warm.”

            Sat. Apr. 27: “In the morning we got up early and Harold took Mother & Marion down to Argyle & they took the stage & went out to Hudson Falls & got the Auto & I sowed the oats down in the field above the other house and Harold dragged till I got through sowing & then I finished & in the afternoon I rolled the oats and Harold & James took a grist down to West Hebron & had to leave it & when they came back they drawed some brush and at night we all took a ride in the car down to Salem & back   the car runs fine & it is a nice pleasant day & warmer.”

            Sun. Apr. 28: “We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. Safford and we stayed for sunday school and it is a nice pleasant day warm too. and after dinner we all took a ride out to Hudson Falls to Jens   we stopped at the cemetery and we got home chore time. and it is a nice pleasant day warm too.”

            Mon. Apr. 29: “In the forenoon I went over in the big field along this side of swail and in the afternoon I went out but soon came in   it rained & a Meat man came out from Hudson Falls & I sold him ½ of a Beef & he killed the cow and it rained some nearly all afternoon & it is a wet time.  Rubys little boy (Earl) came over & stayed in the afternoon.”

            Tues. Apr. 30: “I plowed all day over in the strip this side of the swail in the big field & it is a nice day   it rained some last night and at night Marion, Hazel & Harold went down to the school house the young people met there to see about getting up singing school.”

            Wed. May 1: “It rained nearly all forenoon & it rained most all last night I guess by the looks and it let up at noon but kept cloudy   I chored around in the forenoon & in the afternoon I plowed over on the strip in the big field for oats & it is fearful wet & it is cool   at night wind is in the north.”

            Thurs. May 2: “In the forenoon I plowed over in the strip in the big field & got one corner done and in the afternoon I plowed over in the big field & took a load of manure over in the back meadow and it is a nice day to work   windy.”

            Fri. May 3: “In the forenoon I went over the garden at the lower house with the spring tooth Harrow twice & once with the smoothing Harrow & then marked it out both ways and in the afternoon the boys stayed at home and helped me to draw out manure in the field cross from the barn & it is a nice pleasant day & warm too. at night the youngsters went down to the school house to singing school.”

            Sat. May 4: “In the forenoon I planted the potatoes down in the garden a the lower house & Harold & James dropped phosphate in the hills and in the afternoon we all went down to Argyle and seen about our Liberty Bonds and when we got home the boys & I drawed manure in the field cross from the barn and it is a nice day   it is drying up fast now.”

            Sun. May 5: “Our car did’nt work very good so we did’nt go to church & Marion, Harold, Hazel & James & I started for Hudson Falls but we got stopped down on the hill in McEachrons woods & had to send for a man to come out & put in a new float   we went on out to Hudson Falls & got fixed all right pro tempo. It is a nice pleasant day & warm.”

            Mon. May 6: “In the forenoon I plowed down in the big field for corn & in the afternoon the boys stayed at home & helped me to draw manure out in the field cross from the barn  In the morning Harold & I took a load of manure over in the back meadow & got the rest of the hay that was any good. it is a nice warm & pleasant day.”

            Tues. May 7: “In the forenoon I plowed over in the big field for corn and in the afternoon I plowed the rest of the strip this side of the swail for oats and then dragged the piece over with the smoothing Harrow & it is a nice pleasant day   warm too.”

            Wed. May 8: “In the forenoon I sowed the strip this side of swail over in the big field & Harold dragged till I got through & then I finished & in the afternoon I plowed over in the big field for corn but at noon we got word that the calves had come to Fort Edward Express office so we took the car & went out & got them & after we got them home Marion took the crates back & some of the youngsters went along   it is a windy & cool day.”

            Thur. May 9: “In the forenoon I plowed down in the big field for corn and in the afternoon I finished plowing for corn down there & began dragging or Harold did after school was out & I sowed  the grass seed on the oats over there.”

            Fri. May 10: “In the forenoon Harold finished dragging the corn ground and I marked out over in the same field and in the afternoon I marked out & when school was out Marion, Hazel & Harold came over & began planting corn and a shower came up & we got caught in it  It was a bad one  wind heavy Thunder & rain too. warmer.”

            Sat. May 11: “In the forenoon the boys & I drawed manure out in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon we went over back & planted corn   I marked out & Marion, Hazel & Harold planted corn I helped some   it was dried in very good shape and it was cooler at night. a pleasant day.”

            Sun. May 12: “We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. Safford and we stayed for sunday school and it came on rain as church was out and it was nasty coming home but we got home & it quit raining as we got home and it is windy & cloudy.”

            Mon. May 13: “In the morning the boys & I drawed out manure in the morning & I finished drawing or got the field about covered with manure and then I went down & finished marking out in the big field for corn & in the afternoon we had a heavy thunder shower it rained a lot & at night too.”

            Tues. May 14: “In the morning I went down & fixed fence around the old cow pasture and when I came back I began plowing sod in the field cross from the barn for potatoes and in the afternoon I plowed awhile till school was out & then the boys and I went up back & fixed fence around the fallow or young cattle pasture and it is a nice day.”

            Wed. May 15: “In the morning we took the calves & young cattle & 2 dry heifers & turned them up back in the fallow for good and then I plowed in the field cross from the barn & after dinner James & I went up & fixed fence around the cow night pasture & then I plowed till night & Marion, Hazel & Harold went down in the big field & finished planting corn & it is a nice day cool wind It is nice plowing.”

            Thur. May 16: “In the forenoon I plowed in the field cross from the barn sod for potatoes and in the afternoon the boys & I drawed out manure & spread it on top of the plowed ground cross from the barn   at noon spell I cut some seed potatoes and it is a warm day & clear."

            Fri. May 17: "In the forenoon I dragged awhile with the spring tooth Harrow & then plowed in the field cross from the barn & Harold dragged in the morning & at night with Mollie & ½ of the smoothing Harrow & I plowed & dragged a little in the same field and it is a nice pleasant day & warm too drying up fast."

            Sat. May 18: "In the forenoon I dragged awhile with the spring tooth harrow & then I plowed till noon and Harold dragged with smoothing harrow  he used Mollie & Prince and in the afternoon I finished plowing the field cross from the barn and then I dragged the rest with the spring tooth harrow and our folks all went out to Fort Edward & on up to Hudson Falls and when they came home Harold dragged the rest with the smoothing Harrow and at night we all went down to Salem in the car and it is a nice day & Hot too."

            Sun. May 19: "We all went to church & we did’nt hear any sermon   they had sunday School & then came home and after dinner we all went out to Fort Edward to a big parade and it is a nice warm day pleasant."

            Mon. May 20: "It rained last night and in the forenoon I marked out the field cross from the barn one way for potatoes and some the other way and in the afternoon the boys stayed at home & dropped phosphate and I planted potatoes and at night or after chore time we  had a terrible thunder shower and it rained a lot."

            Tues. May 21: "It rained a lot last night & some in the morning I cut some potatoes and chored around in the forenoon & in the afternoon I took a load of manure over in the back meadow and began plowing over there for potatoes and it rained on me I got wet to the hide but I kept at it & the rain let up after while & cleared off. and it is wet enough to make it easy plowing at night after school was out the boys came over with Mollie & the stone boat & drawed the old hay that was in the bottom of the stacks & spread it around."

            Wed. May 22: "I plowed all day over in the back meadow I took 2 loads of manure over there and it is a nice day but don't dry off very fast. the boys spread the old hay around. nice plowing."

            Thur. May 23: "In the morning we drawed out some potatoes to plant & I marked out some in the field cross from the barn & the boys stayed at home & dropped phosphate & Harold planted some & I planted all day it is drying off to day."

            Fri. May 24: "I marked out some in the morning & we drawed out some seed potatoes and the boys stayed at home and dropped phosphate & Harold planted 3 bu and I planted all day but I cut some seed at noon & night at night the youngsters went down to singing school and it is a nice pleasant day warm too."

            Sat. May 25: "In the forenoon I took the roller & went over in the big field & rolled the oats on the strip this side of the swail and the children went over the corn & planted in where the other didn't grow and in the afternoon I marked out some for potatoes & planted & the boys dropped phosphate & Harold planted some and the folks took a small grist down to West Hebron in the car & left it and it is a nice day till supper time  then it came on rain & rained a heavy shower."

            Sun. May 26: "We did'nt go to church as we had a heavy rain last night & the roads were muddy so we all stayed at home all day but at night we run the car over to Smiths & seen Rubys children   it is a nice day it is a fine growing time."

            Mon. May 27: "In the morning we all loaded up both loads of potatoes and Harold & James drove Mollie & prince and took a load on the truck wagon they load      bu & I took a big load with the big team      bu  112½ bu on both loads at 50¢ we took them to Fort Edward & we was gone all day and it is a very hot day & pleasant but hard going muddy."

            Tues. May 28: "I plowed all day over in the back meadow for potatoes and I took over 2 loads of manure and spread it on the plowed ground in the corner. and after school was out Harold went down & took Mollie & the weeder & went through some of the corn and it is a cloudy day and don't dry off very fast.”

            Wed. May 29: "In the morning we drawed out some potatoes in the field front of the barn & I marked out the rest of the field & we planted all day   Harold helped me to plant & James & John C. dropped phosphate in the hill and we got most done   in the forenoon Marion & the youngsters went down to West Hebron in the car & got the grist and in the afternoon Marion & Mother went out to Hudson Falls & got some flowers for Roscoes & Rubys & Howards graves and at night we all went down to West Hebron in the car."

            Thur. May 30: "It rained last night again  In the forenoon I plowed over in the back meadow & took over a load of manure and in the afternoon we all went down to Argyle and Decorated Roscoes, Rubys & little Howards graves & seen the parade up to the yard & attended the lecture it was very muddy & when we got home we finished planting the potatoes in the field cross from the barn and then I cut a few seed potatoes. It is a cloudy & dark day it looked like rain nearly all day."

            Fri. May 31: "In the forenoon I went over in the back meadow & finished plowing for potatoes and began dragging with the spring tooth harrow In the afternoon Harold stayed at home & dragged it over after me with the smoothing Harrow with Mollie & Prince and I finished dragging with the spring tooth harrow we got the field ready to mark out."

            Sat. Jun. 1: "In the morning we took some seed potatoes & phosphate over to the back meadow & I marked the piece out one way & part of it the other way & Harold planted some & James & John C. dropped phosphate and in the afternoon Harold & I planted and James & John C. dropped phosphate and it is a very hot day & pleasant too. At night Lewis Matteson came up & got some potatoes to plant 18 bu and I cut some seed potatoes."

            Sun. Jun. 2: "In the forenoon after we done the chores & got ready we went down to the Cemetery and on out to Hudson Falls & got Jen & then went over to Granville by the way of Comstock & seen Ruby's picture that is to be put in her monument and back home by West Hebron we left Jen at her mothers and we got home before night awhile and it is a nice day & good roads."

            Mon. Jun. 3: "In the morning we took some potatoes over back in the meadow & I marked some and then Harold & I planted all day and James & John C. dropped phosphate and it is a nice pleasant day & warm."

            Tues. Jun. 4: "In the morning after we done the chores we all got ready and went to the Circus out to Glens Falls and it was a big show   we saw the parade and it rained some in the afternoon and we got home early and done the chores and then the boys & went down to the school house to school meeting & nobody came so we came back home & it is a nice day but rained   it was cooler at night too."

            Wed. Jun. 5: "In the morning we took some potatoes & phosphate over in the back meadow and I marked out the rest of it & Harold & I planted & James & John C. dropped phosphate and we got done all done planting potatoes & Mother & Marion & Harry O. went down to White side to a Missionary meeting & took a load & it is a nice pleasant day."

            Thur. Jun. 6: "In the forenoon I plowed over in the upper end of the Hay barn field for beans and in the afternoon I hoed potatoes down in the garden at the other house and when school was out Harold cultivated the potatoes down there and after we ate supper we went down to Argyle in the Cemetery & watered the lot. and it is a nice day only cloudy."

            Fri. Jun. 7: "It rained nearly all forenoon & came right down part of the time and in the afternoon I took the big team & got some shoes set at Lewis Mattesons & when I came back I went over in the big field & I finished plowing for beans and it cleared of cooler & quite windy it dried up fast."

            Sat. Jun. 8: "In the forenoon I went over back & dragged the piece for beans 2 times with the Spring tooth Harrow & then Harold brought over Mollie & he dragged the piece over with the smoothing Harrow & I marked out the piece & then I began planting beans & Harold cultivated the potatoes again down in the garden & in the afternoon I finished planting beans & hoed some potatoes down in the garden & Marion took the youngsters over to the church to practice for to-morrow & where they came back they washed the car & it was cold last night but warmed up to-day."

            Sun. Jun. 9: "We all went to church no preaching as it was childrens day and they had sunday school and after dinner we went down to the Cemetery & on out to Hudson Falls and back home and it is a cloudy day   it looked like rain all day but did'nt."

            Mon. Jun. 10: "It rained last night In the forenoon I began cultivating corn down in the big field I worked at it all day and in the morning Harold cultivated some potatoes down in the garden and it is a nice day some cloudy. after supper I went down & hoed some potatoes in the garden."

            Tues. Jun. 11: "I cultivated corn over in the big field all day and Harold took Mollie & the weeder & went over some of the corn and it is a nice pleasant day and after supper I went down in the garden & hoed some potatoes and the rest of the folks went down to West Hebron in the car & it looked like rain   Windy."

            Wed. Jun. 12: "We had a Thunder shower last night and at noon we had a nother heavy Thunder shower it rained fierce & hailed too. and washed bad too and I plowed for buckwheat over in the back meadow most of the day & plenty wet too. cooler at night after school was out Harold & James took a grist down to West Hebron & got it home. It washed our corn & potatoe field fierce."

            Thur. Jun. 13: "In the forenoon the boys and I had to go up & fix fence along the cow pasture the wind had it nearly all blown down and in the afternoon I went over in the back meadow & plowed of Buckwheat and it is a grand time to plow as it is wet and it is cool   at night we caught up the horses   it rained some."

            Fri. Jun. 14: "I plowed all day over in the back meadow for Buckwheat and I got done and it is a cloudy day & windy & cool too. it was the last day of school & they had a picnic."

            Sat. Jun. 15: "I cultivated corn all day over in the big field & it washed a lot out over there & washed the side hill bad. Mother is about sick to-day. in the afternoon the folks took the car out to Hudson Falls and got some air in the tubes and Harold went through the rest of the corn with the weeder & began cultivating the potatoes in the field cross from the barn & dragged some of the potatoes up there with the smoothing Harrow.'

            Sun. Jun. 16: "Marion, Hazel, Marjory, Harold, James & I went to church & Mary Mahaffy went with us and we heard a sermon by Mr. Safford & it was sacrament & we stayed for sunday school & Mother was about sick yet   she stayed at home and kept the youngsters."

            Mon. Jun. 17: "In the forenoon I cultivated corn over in the Hay barn field and got done and in the afternoon Harold and I went over & Helped Smith to plant potatoes and Marion went down to West Hebron & took Hazel & left her & took a small grist & left it too and at night we all went down to a Lecture at West Hebron and it is a nice day cool   at night Harold cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn in the forenoon."

            Tues. Jun. 18: "In the forenoon I went over & helped Smith to plant potatoes and Harold cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon Harold & I went down to Argyle and got a load of gravel & took Mollie & got a big load and Marion took the car & went down & got Smart & his folks & took Mother & some of the folks out to Glens Falls and it is a nice pleasant day   dry & dusty & warmer."

            Wed. Jun. 19: "In the morning we got ready & loaded up a load of rye straw & James & I took the load down to Argyle & Harold cultivated potatoes on the hill front of the house and in the afternoon We took a nother load of straw down to Argyle & Harold & James went along to help me to onload as no one was there and it is a nice pleasant day only cool   at night we all went down to West Hebron & got Hazel."

            Thur. Jun. 20: "In the forenoon we loaded up a load of rye straw (& Harold & James went with me to onload) down to Argyle and in the afternoon I took a nother load of rye straw down to Argyle and James went along and Harold cultivated potatoes and it was cold in the morning   a Heavy frost in places   it cut corn potatoes & beans in places   at night we loaded up a nother load of rye straw."

            Fri. Jun. 21: "In the forenoon I went over in the back meadow & dragged the Buckwheat ground with a Spring tooth Harrow & Harold took the small team & dragged over the potatoes with the smoothing Harrow and in the afternoon I cultivated the potatoes down at the lower house and then I took the load of straw down to Argyle   James & John C. went along   it was the last load   at night it began raining hard too. It is a very windy day."

            Sat. Jun. 22: "It rained a big rain last night In the morning after we done the chores we loaded the calves and the boys took Mollie & Prince & took the calves down to Salem at 15¢ & a premium of 5.00 on 8. & I drove the 4 old cows down to Salem also. It was very muddy going we got back about 5 o'clock and then recleaned some buckwheat and it is a very cloudy day & began raining before night again & rained a hard shower.   a wet time again."

            Sun. Jun. 23: "Marion, Hazel & Harold went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. Safford and they stayed for sunday school and they drove prince and the rest of us stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a cloudy & rainy day   the roads are in very bad shape."

Jun. 24: "In the forenoon we piled wood in the shed & drawed some manure in the back yard & scraped a place to get into the cow stable and in the afternoon Harold took the young team over in the back meadow and dragged the buckwheat ground over with the smoothing Harrow and I cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn and it is a nice day   drying up some at night we all went down to West Hebron to Commencement in the car   it is a nice day but cold nights."

            Tues. Jun. 25: "In the forenoon Harold & I cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon I sowed the buckwheat over in the back meadow and Harold dragged the big team & spring tooth Harrow & James took the young team & smoothing Harrow & went over after Harold and at night we all went down to Argyle to Commencement in the car."

            Wed. Jun. 26: "In the forenoon I shoveled out the potatoes down in the garden both ways and Harold finished cultivating the potatoes up & down the hill cross from the barn and in the afternoon I hilled the potatoes down in the garden & James & John C. helped some & Harold cultivated potatoes awhile cross from the barn & the folks all but me went down to West Hebron in the car awhile & it is a nice day & warm. at night I went down to a special school Meeting."

            Thur. Jun. 27: "In the forenoon Harold & I cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn and in the afternoon Harold cultivated in the same field awhile & I hoed potatoes and James & John C. helped awhile & at night we all went over to the church to a Social and it is a nice day."

            Fri. Jun. 28: "In the morning after we done the chores and I hoed a few potatoes cross from the barn we got ready & took a ride up to Glens Falls & Lake George & back by Luzerne & Hadley Corinth, Greenfield Centre & Saratoga Schuylerville & Argyle back home. 96 Miles & Earl went with us and it is a nice pleasant day warm."

            Sat. Jun. 29: "In the forenoon Harold & I went over back & he cultivated some beans and then began cultivating potatoes over in the back meadow and I hoed beans and in the afternoon Marion took a grist down to West Hebron & came back & took her Mother to a Missionary Meeting & got the grist & then went back after her Mother and Harold & I went over & cultivated potatoes in the back meadow and after supper we all went down to Cossayuna and done some trading & it is a hot day."

            Sun. Jun. 30: "We all went to church and Mr. James Mahaffy & his Wife went with us and we heard a sermon by Mr. McCord and we stayed for sunday school and it is a nice warm day good corn weather now. after dinner we all went down to the Cemetery and watered the lots and went on down to Argyle and got some ice cream and at night Marion, Hazel, Harold, Marjory & James went over to the church to the young peoples meeting in the car."

            Mon. Jul. 1: "In the forenoon Harold cultivated some beans & then cultivated potatoes in the back meadow and I hoed beans till noon it came on rain & I got soaked and it rained part of the afternoon & we piled some wood and cleaned over the rest of the buckwheat and it cleared off before night a while   it was a nice rain cool too.”

            Tues. Jul. 2: “In the forenoon Harold cultivated the rest of the beans & then cultivated potatoes over in the back meadow and I hoed beans and in the afternoon Harold and I cultivated potatoes the other way over in the back meadow and we got done and began the corn and it is a nice day   at night we all took a ride down to Argyle. It is a nice day.”

            Wed. Jul. 3: “In the forenoon I finished hoeing the beans over in the big field & then I helped the boys to hoe the potatoes over in the corner they hoed all forenoon & we finished them and in the afternoon we or Harold & I cultivated corn over in the big field and it is a nice day cold nights.”

            Thur. Jul. 4: “In the morning we went down to Argyle (Harold & I & drove the young team) to get some lumber but we did’nt get any   when we came back we all went down to the Oaks to a town church picnic & came home by the way of Argyle and it is a nice pleasant day but cool air most all day.”

            Fri. Jul. 5: “Harold & I cultivated corn nearly all day over in the Hay barn field and it is a nice day in the afternoon the rest of our folks went out to Fort Edward & done some trading James & John C. was over & pulled some blue thisle and at night the youngsters went down to singing school but before they went over to James McCellens & got Aunt Kate & brought her over to stay awhile.”

            Sat. Jul. 6: “In the morning it rained some & the boys and I went down to Argyle & got some lumber to repair the buildings we took the young team and in the afternoon Harold & I went over to  finish cultivating the corn & cultivated the potatoes again in the back meadow and then we had a heavy thunder shower rained a lot & washed some   terrible shower   Heavy thunder.”

            Sun. Jul. 7: “We all went to church and heard a sermon by Mr. Safford and we stayed for sunday school and after dinner we all went over to Adamsville & on around by South Hartford   Aunt Kate wanted to see Earl Rubys little boy and at night Marion & Hazel & Harold went over to the young peoples Meeting & took Aunt Kate home   it is a nice cool day   rained some   showers went around.”

            Mon. Jul. 8: “In the morning David Thompson came up & we worked at raising up the horse barn and put a sill under it all day and in the afternoon Harry Smith came over & helped us and it is a cloudy & sour day looked like rain   cool for corn.”

            Tues. Jul. 9: “David Thompson came up and we worked at the Horse barn & finished it & began at raising up the barn and at noon we got word from Mr. Strong that he was down to the Cemetery putting up Rubys Monument so we went down and it is a cloudy day & rains now & then backward time”

            Wed. Jul. 10: “David Thompson came up and we worked at the barn all day & we got it done and started at the Corn House and in the morning the boys & I went out to Fort Edward & got 2 Heifer calves that we sent for and when we got back to Argyle we got Elliott & brought him up to fix the pump and Marion took him back to Argyle and it is very muddy roads.”   

            Thur. Jul. 11: “David Thompson came up & we worked at the Corn House & we finished up what we are going to do for now and at night Our folks went down to West Hebron & got Orrie & Eva and it is a cloudy day rained some & cloudy muddy roads.”

            Fri. Jul. 12: “In the forenoon Harold & I cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn and after noon a little we had a Thunder Shower & it washed the Devel out of our corn & potato fields Destroyed a lot   we chored around till night   it rained a lot. fearful wet now again   the youngsters went down to Singing school   it was the last night.”

            Sat. Jul. 13: “In the forenoon the boys and I put some concrete under the sills that we put under the Horse barn and drawed some dirt or gravel that washed out of the potato field & put it along the wall under the steps & put some cement on top to harden it to keep the cellar from freezing. and in the afternoon we all went out to Hudson Falls & back home it rained a lot and after supper we took Orrie & Eva down home at West Hebron & we found some fierce roads got stuck on the hill.”

            Sun. Jul. 14: “Mother is about sick to day   we did’nt go to church any of us so all stayed at home and kept house a rainy time no mistake it cleared of before night and looked like fair weather.”

            Mon. Jul. 15: “In the forenoon the boys and I washed the car and got out the mowing machine & rake out & ready for business   In the afternoon Harold and I shoveled out potatoes in the field cross from the barn and it was clear & pleasant & warm too   it dried of fast to-day   a shower went south it rained down south of us a little ways at Argyle.”

            Tues. Jul. 16: “In the forenoon Harold & I finished shoveling out the potatoes in the field cross from the barn and then I went at mowing with the machine on the big side hill and in the afternoon Harold mowed some with machine and I trimmed around the fence & Harold brought up the rake but a shower was close by so we went to the house   it rained a little here but a heavy shower went north a good hay day till most night.”

            Wed. Jul. 17: “In the morning after we done the chores  we took the horses down to Lewis Mattesons & got 3 of them shawd new and I came home and ground 2 sickle bars and chored around and in the afternoon it rained a steady rain   I chored around & at noon Marion drove prince down to Argyle & got Jen she came out in the stage. the roads are muddy again."

            Thur. Jul. 18: "In the forenoon Harold & James took a grist down to West Hebron & got it ground & took Jen down to her Mothers and I chored around & went up awhile & mowed on the big side hill & in the afternoon I mowed the rest of the big side Hill & began in the rear end of the hill Harold mowed awhile & I mowed around the fence & then Harold raked the lower part of the side hill & Hazel, James & John C. bunched it up   it is a very good hay day Hot too. It was very foggy for a long time in the morning."

            Fri. Jul. 19: "In the forenoon I went up & mowed in the rear end of the big side hill with the machine & I mowed around the fences by hand & Marion & the boys took some Buckwheat out to Fort Edward in the car 850 # @ 3.50 per cwt. and it was cloudy & foggy but in the afternoon it cleared off & was good hay weather   Smith came over & helped us to draw in hay   we got in 5 loads of clover hay from the big side hill   the folks went to a picnic down to Barkleys but they got back in time to rake & bunch up the rest of the hay on the big side hill."

            Sat. Jul. 20: "In the forenoon I went up & mowed the rest of the hay in the rear part of the big side hill and then we went at drawing in   we got 2 loads & Harold raked in the rear part & the children bunched it up and in the afternoon Smith came over & helped us to draw in Hay & we got it all in 5 loads & Harold raked it up & the children bunched it up and it is a good hay day   Hot & pleasant we had a little rain last night but not much   at night we all took a ride out to Hudson Falls & took Jen home."

            Mon. Jul. 21: "There was no service at our church to-day so we did'nt go to any other church and after we done the chores at night we all went down to the Cemetery & put some flowers on the graves & watered the lots & it is a very hot day."

            Tues. Jul. 22: "In the morning Marion & I got up early and took the car & took 2 loads of cheese or 30 boxes out to Fort Edward we made 2 trips and when we got back Harold & I went at cultivating potatoes over in the back meadow and in the afternoon I went at mowing down in the lower fallow and Harold mowed awhile and I mowed around the fences it is fearful  Hot good hay weather."

            Tues. Jul. 23: "In the forenoon I finished mowing in the lower fallow and then Harold & I cultivated the rest of the potatoes up over in the back meadow and then in the afternoon Harold raked the hay down in the lower fallow & Marion, Hazel, James & John C bunched it up and I began mowing up in the upper fallow & after we milked & had supper we went down & got a load of hay along the road & then we all went down to Argyle in the car & watered the lots in Cem  It is a Hot & dry day."

            Wed. Jul. 24: "In the morning Harold & Marion was sick and Harry came over & we went at drawing in hay from the lower fallow & we got it all in but 1 small load   4 loads & in the afternoon Harry raked the hay that was cut in the upper fallow & Hazel & John C bunched it up & James & I got the load down in the lower fallow and then we drawed in 3 loads from the upper fallow  nearly all that was cut and Harold & Marion was some better at night but Hazel is sick   It was cloudy in the forenoon but cleared off & was Hot."

            Thur. Jul. 25: "The sick folks are all better & in the forenoon I mowed the rest of the hay up on top of the hill in the fallow Harold mowed some & I mowed around the fences and in the afternoon Harold raked it up & I mowed the hay on the side hill in the fallow and Harold mowed some & I mowed along the fence and the children bunched up the hay that Harold raked & after we milked we went up on the hill & got a load of hay and then we all went down to Argyle   it is a good hay day."

            Fri. Jul. 26: "In the forenoon Harold & I shoveled out potatoes over in the back meadow but I cultivated the beans first in the big field and in the afternoon Smith came over & helped us to draw in hay   we drawed 2 loads of the top of the fallow & Harold raked the hay on the side hill & the children bunched it up & then we drawed  it all in 3 jags and we got all cleaned up what we have mowed. at night we all went down to the Cemetery & watered the lots & went on down to Argyle."

            Sat. Jul. 27: "In the forenoon Harold & I shoveled out potatoes over in the back meadow & we did'nt get quite done & James & John C hoed some in the corner and in the afternoon we all went up to Comstocks & seen a game of ball   we went by the way of Hudson Falls & came home by the way of Granville and it is a pleasant & Hot & good hay day."

            Sun. Jul. 28: "In the morning we all went down to West Hebron to get some Medicine for Harry Oliver and Marion, Hazel, Harold & Marjory went to church & Mary Mahaffy went with them and they heard a sermon by Mr. Safford and they stayed for sunday school and after we done the chores we all went down to the Cemetery & watered the lots and it is a very hot & dry day."

            Mon. Jul. 29: "In the forenoon we got out the reaper and I began cutting rye up on top of the hill in the meadow and the boys went over in the back meadow & hilled some potatoes & Harold finished shoveling out potatoes and in the afternoon I was about sick   I laid down awhile & then I went up & bound rye and showers went around and it is a nice day   warm and very windy."

            Tues. Jul. 30: "We had a nice little rain in the night or early in the morning. In the forenoon I chored around and it rained a little and in the afternoon I reaped some rye and bound some too & the boys sat up some of it. and it is a cloudy day but a good day to work with rye."

            Wed. Jul. 31: "In the forenoon I reaped some rye & broke the tongue & then I bound rye till noon & at noon I got the pole spliced & reaped the rest of the rye and then took the team over to Smiths & drawed hay & the rest went too   Harold raked and it is a good hay day."

            Thur. Aug. 1: "In the forenoon I bound the rest of the rye & the boys sat it up & Harold went over to Smiths & raked hay and in the afternoon we all went over to Smiths and helped to draw hay in the morning Marion took a grist down to W. H ,. and at noon Smith & part of us went out to Hudson Falls & back home and it is a nice pleasant day good hay day."

            Fri. Aug. 2: "In the forenoon we went up on top of the hill in the meadow & drawed rye  we got 2 loads & the girls helped us to onload and Marion took Mother & Harry O., Mary E. & Marjory down to West Heron to her Mothers & left them and we went over to Smith & got 1 load of hay & in the afternoon we all went over to Smiths & drawed hay raked & bunched it up & it is a nice day only about night it began & rained a little   Marion went down to W. H. & got the folks."

            Sat. Aug. 3: "In the forenoon we went up & got the rest of the rye  2 loads and then we went over to Smiths & drawed in 1 load of Hay   Harold raked and in the afternoon the boys & I went over to Smiths & helped him to draw in hay and we got all of it drawed and it is a nice pleasant day   cold nights   wind is in the north and cool   at night we all went down to Argyle & watered the lots in the Cemetery"

            Sun. Aug. 4: "There was no service at our church so we took a ride in the car and went down to Salem on down to Cambridge & on down to Hoosick Falls and below a trip of about 65 miles and it is very dry every place as we could see   to dry for crops that are growing fearful dusty."

            Mon. Aug. 5: "In the forenoon I mowed the hay in the orchard back of the barn and Harold mowed some and I mowed by hand around the trees & fences and in the afternoon I mowed some more on the side hill back of the barn and Harold went over to Smiths & raked what hay he had mowed and then he came over & raked what I had mowed in the forenoon & the children bunched it up   I helped some."

            Tues. Aug. 6: "In the morning I mowed the rest of the hay up on the side hill back of barn & then Smith came over & we went at drawing in hay   we got in 3 Loads & in the afternoon  we went over to Smiths & drawed the hay he had mowed & then came over & drawed the rest of the hay in the orchard  2 loads and Harold raked the hay on the side hill and the children bunched it up and it is a good hay day Hot & dry."

            Wed. Aug. 7: "In the forenoon we drawed the hay that was on the side hill & put it up in the shed  3 loads and in the afternoon Smith brought his team over & went at mowing up on top of the hill back of the barn and I took our team up & began reaping oats but soon broke the reaper so I took the castine or broken part down to Hoosick Falls   the folks all went   we started 3 o'clock & got back about 7 o'clock & got all repaired up   it is a fearful hot day   over 100º in shade in places."

            Thur. Aug. 8: "In the forenoon I reaped oats down in the field above the lower house & broke a rake & Smith finished mowing hay up on top of the hill back of the barn & Harold raked some of the hay up there and in the afternoon Smith reaped oats awhile with his team & the children & I drawed the hay from up on top of the hill   3 loads & Harold raked the rest of it and then I took the big team & finished reaping the oats down the road & we got all hay in that is cut. The oats are fearful long straw good hay day."

            Fri. Aug. 9: "It rained a shower early in the morning & rained a lot in the forenoon and the boys and I went over to Billys and got a little Bull & Heifer & brought him over & put him with our young cattle and we chored around all day at one thing & another we changed the horse Fork & rope and it is poor oat weather   most every body has oats down but it was a fine rain."

            Sat. Aug. 10: "In the forenoon Smith went over to Adamsville & got his oat thresher and Harold raked the rye tailings up on top of the hill in the meadow & I cut some brush and in the afternoon  We drawed the rye tailing down to the hog pen and Smith came over & got the reaper & our team & I took the cradle over & we went up on the top of his hill & began cutting his oats & cut till night and at night we all went down to West Hebron & took Aunt Kate down to Barkleys & it is a cloudy day oats did'nt dry much."

            Sun. Aug. 11: "We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Safford and we stayed for sunday school and it is a cloudy day   oats are not drying much. but it is warm & it rained some in the night.  At night after we done the chores we went down to the Cemetery & watered the Lot."

            Mon. Aug. 12: "In the forenoon I went over to Smiths & we cradled oats awhile up on the hill & then he reaped till noon and I came back & the children & I went at turning oats and in the afternoon Smith came over and we turned the rest of the oats and then we went at drawing in oats   we got in 3 loads   they are big straw and it was cloudy in the forenoon but cleared off nice in the afternoon."

            Tues. Aug. 13: "In the forenoon I went over & cradled a swath around the oats in the big field and Smith reaped oats awhile and then we went at drawing in oats down in the field above the lower house & we got in 7 loads and it is a nice pleasant day warm too. at night we went down to Argyle & watered the lots."

            Wed. Aug. 14: "In the forenoon we all went at drawing in oats we got in 3 loads & in the afternoon we drawed in 1 load   the last of them & then a Thunder shower went around   we got enough rain to stop us from drawing in and then we chored around till night."

            Thur. Aug. 15: "In the forenoon I reaped oats over in the Hay barn field this side of swail and in the afternoon we all went over to Smiths and helped him to draw oats from the back hill we got in

4 loads and it is a nice day   after we came back I went over & finished reaping our oats and we have them all cut."

            Fri. Aug. 16: "In the forenoon we all went over to Smiths & helped him to draw in oats 2 loads and in the afternoon Smith came over and we all drawed in oats from over in the big field   3 loads & then went up on the Hill & got a load and let it set and it is a nice day   at night we went down to Argyle & watered the lot & got some gas for Smith."

            Sat. Aug. 17: "In the forenoon the Women folks went out to Glens Falls & took Aunt Kate to see about her eyes & glasses & Smith came over & we went over & got 1 load of oats & then I hurt my foot so I was layed up   the boys & Smith went over & got the rest of them  1 load & in the afternoon Marion went down & got Lewis M. to help Smith thresh his oats as I was not able to go. Mother & the children drew in the oat tailings so we have our oats all in. & it is a nice day my foot was better at night."

            Sun. Aug. 18: "We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Safford & we stayed for sunday school and Aunt Kate went home with us and after dinner we went down to the Cemetery & watered the lot and then went to South Argyle & on to Cossayuna & on to East Greenwich, Salem & West Hebron & home & it is a nice day only cool   Frost in places in the morning."

            Mon. Aug. 19: "In the morning I ground the Knives & Harold took the young team & machine & went over to Smiths and mowed on the hill south of the woods & Marion & I took the big team & got the rest of the oats on the back Hill  1 big load & afternoon we all went over & helped to thresh out the oats & Harold raked hay & we went at drawing hay we got 3 loads & put it in a stack the children bunched up the hay and it is a nice pleasant day."

            Tues. Aug. 20: "In the forenoon Smith finished his mowing & then we went at drawing hay we drawed the rest of the day & got it all but what was in the orchard and Harold raked the rest of it & the children bunched up the rest of it   at night we all went down to the Cemetery & watered the lot & it is a good hay day."

            Wed. Aug. 21: "In the morning I went over to Smiths & helped him to onload a load or top out a stack & then we all went down to Lauderdale to the McIntyre picnic and Harry mowed the orchard below the house with our team & when we got back I mowed around the trees & Harold raked most of the hay & the children bunched it up & it is a hot day   fine hay day   fearful dusty."

            Thur. Aug. 22: "In the forenoon we finished mowing around the trees & then went over to Smiths & drawed the rest of his hay & then came over & went at drawing the hay down in the orchard we drawed in 5 loads & then we mowed the swail in the orchard & what we could mow with the mowing machine at the other house & up in the little meadow   all done mowing with the machine Smith mowed it & I mowed by hand and it is a nice day   at night we went down to Argyle & watered the lot. it is a nice day."

            Fri. Aug. 23: "In the forenoon we mowed some by hand down back of the lower house & then we went at drawing in hay & in the afternoon we raked & bunched the hay & drawed it all in but the swail back of the lower house & after we done the chores we mowed by hand down in the swail and it is a nice pleasant day warm too."

            Sat. Aug. 24: "In the morning Smith & I finished mowing the swail and then we all went over to a church picnic at Thomas McElroy and as we got home a Thunder shower came up so we had to leave the hay out we had a nice shower. It was fearful dry before the rain."

            Sun. Aug. 25: "We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Safford and we stayed for sunday school and it is a hot day and at night the children went over to the church to the young peoples meeting and it is a very warm day good corn weather."

            Mon. Aug. 26: "In the forenoon I cut some brush and then we drawed in the hay in the swamp below the lower house and it is the last of the hay this year and the boys dug some potatoes down to the other house and in the afternoon the boys and I took the team up to Willie Mahaffys and helped to thresh oats or draw oats and it is a nice day   some cloudy. at night Lydia came up."

            Tues. Aug. 27: "the boys and I drawed manure up on top of the hill back of the barn & we got 9 loads up there & spread it too we drawed it from the barnyard and it is a nice pleasant & warm day and Marion & Lydia went down to Argyle & then Hazel & them went over to the church to a convention & Mary came home with them and it is a nice day."

            Wed. Aug. 28: "In the morning I mowed some with the machine along the road and then we all went out to the County Fair   Mary went up to Jen's & stayed out and it is a warm day   good fair day at night we put the machine & rake in the wagon House."

            Thur. Aug. 29: "In the morning we had a nice rain but about 10 o'clock it began to fair off so we got ready and went out to the fair again it was a nice afternoon for the fair. at night Everett came up & took Lydia home.

            Fri. Aug. 30: "In the morning I cut some brush around the oat field and the boys dug some potatoes down at the lower house and then we all went out to the Fair and it was a good day for the Fair."

            Sat. Aug. 31: "We drawed manure all day up on top of the hill back of the barn yard   we got up 10 loads & spread it all off the wagon and it is a very windy day   it is cloudy & looked like rain and at night it did rain & Thundered around & rained a lot."

            Sun. Sept. 1: "We had a big rain last night it cleared off nice in the morning and we did'nt go to church so all stayed at home and kept house about night Billy came over awhile & our folks went over to Smiths awhile and it is a nice pleasant day   cool nights   potatoes or Giants are beginning to die."

            Mon. Sept. 2: "the boys and I drawed manure about all day up on top of the hill back of the barn   we got 8 loads and at night our folks went down to Argyle & got Mary and I gathered the brush around the oat field & burned it  Harold rode Ben down to Lewis' & got 2 shoes sat   it is a nice pleasant day"

            Tues. Sept. 3: "In the forenoon I began plowing for rye down in the field above the lower house and Marion took a grist down to West Hebron & left it & Mary rode down home and in the afternoon Marion took us & Smith & went over & got Mrs. Liddle & Eliza & all went down to Argyle & voted at the primaries and got some honey and when we got home I cut brush around the potato field & school began to-day and after school was out the boys dug a few early potatoes down at the lower house."

            Wed. Sept. 4: "In the forenoon I plowed for rye down in the field above the lower house & in the afternoon I cut some weeds around the fences  I went down to W. H. & got a grist & after school was out we all went down to Braytons & got some Honey and at night we all went down to W. Hebron to a show   Eliza & Anna May went down with us and it is a nice pleasant day warm  In the morning the boys picked some apples & drawed them up to the pig pen."

            Thur. Sept. 5: "In the morning the boys dug a few potatoes down to the lower house & brought them up to the house and In the forenoon I plowed for rye down in the field above the lower house and in the afternoon I cut brush around the fence and they boys drawed out some manure after school was out and at night we all went down to Argyle & went in the Cemetery & watered the lots & it is a nice day cloudy & warm looked like rain."

            Fri. Sept. 6: "In the forenoon it was rainy   It did'nt rain much   I sat around the house & cut some burdocks and in the afternoon I plowed for rye down in the field above the lower house & after school the boys drawed out some manure out with the other team and at night we all went over to the church to a reception for the minister and it rained some and was a dark night."

            Sat. Sept. 7: "In the forenoon I plowed for rye down in the field above the lower house and the boys drawed out some manure with the other team and in the afternoon we all drawed out manure up on the hill back of the barn and our folks went down to West Hebron and got Mary & we done the chores early and went out to Hudson Falls & seen Willard Durkee (Jen's boy) he has to go to war Monday or camp. and it is a cloudy & cool & windy day  a Falls day."

            Sun. Sept. 8: "We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school & took Mary down home at W. H. and it is a cloudy day   it began raining and is cool too   it acts like Fall. potatoes are turning around here   over in Hebron some are nearly fit to dig."

            Mon. Sept. 9: "I plowed down in the field above the lower House for rye and I got done and then the boys and I drawed some rails & fixed some fence down along the swamp in the meadow orchard below the road & after chore time I took the cradle & cut a swath around the Buckwheat over in the back meadow and it is a nice pleasant day"

            Tues. Sept. 10: "In the forenoon I went over in the back meadow & reaped the buckwheat   it is not very good and in the afternoon I went over back & sat up part of it up. and it is a nice day only rather windy but pleasant   it got cooler at night. At night we went down to Argyle & went in the Cemetery & watered the lots."

            Wed. Sept. 11: "In the forenoon I went over back & sat up the rest of the buckwheat & began cutting corn in the big field and in the afternoon I cut brush down along the road & it is a nice pleasant day   at night we all went down to West Hebron took a small grist & went  up around by Rob. McFarlands to see him & Arthur about coming down to help us to cut corn."

            Thur. Sept. 12: "In the morning I took the car down to Argyle & left it to have the Engine cleaned and rode back home with Hugh Weir and then cut burdocks and in the afternoon I cut weeds and picked some apples  the boys drawed out some manure after school and it is a cloudy day."

            Fri. Sept. 13: "In the morning Rob & Arthur came down to help me to cut corn we went over & cut awhile and it came on rain and drove us to the house and it rained showers now & then all day     I cut some weeds & brush between showers and it is a warm rain but cleared off about night & was cooler."

            Sat. Sept. 14: "In the morning Rob & Arthur came down & we all cut corn over in the back or big field & it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy   nice day to cut corn and Smith brought his oat thresher over here and is warm yet. potatoes are holding their own dying slowly."

            Sun. Sept. 15: "We did'nt go to church to day any of us so we all stayed at home and kept house and it is a nice pleasant day cool nights the frost last Wednesday morning cut the pumpkin vines and corn some in places and beans some but didn't seem to strike any potatoes."

            Mon. Sept. 16: "In the forenoon I cut corn over in the big field & at noon Arthur McFarland came down & he & I cut corn over in the big field and we got quite a lot cut and it is a cloudy day   it rained some in the morning   Harry brought over the machine & got it sat up ready to thresh."

            Tues. Sept. 17: "In the morning Robert McFarland & his boys Arthur & Leslie, Howard Mahaffy & Stanley Furguson & Lewis Matteson was here to help me thresh it was raining some & Smith did'nt come over very early but we went at threshing in the rain & threshed all day we got it all out of  the barn Floor & got it sat up the machine in the barn and it is a cloudy & rainy day but worked at it all day."

            Wed. Sept. 18: "The same men was here except Willie Mahaffy was in the place of Lewis Matteson and we finished the oats & got the rye all threshed 361 bu oats & 68 bu of rye it is a cloudy day & it rained hard all afternoon about   it let up about 5 o'clock and it is very muddy going now."

            Thur. Sept. 19: "In the morning I took the thresher & Engine up to Willie Mahaffys to thresh & Smith had to go down to Argyle to get some new batteries so I rode down & brought up our car and after dinner I went to Willies & helped him to thresh & Harold did too. and we did'nt get done and it is a nice day only cloudy    muddy roads.

            Fri. Sept. 20: "It rained in the morning but after a while we went up to thresh & at noon it came on rain so we did'nt get done   I came home and chored around   it rained hard all afternoon it is a wet time in earnest   one piece of our potatoes are dying fast but the other piece is green yet potatoes at East Greenwich are Giants 1.50 per bu & round ones 1.25 per bu"

            Sat. Sept. 21: "In the morning I went out in the orchard & cut some burdocks and then Harry came along & the boys and I went up to Willie Mahaffys & we finished threshing his oats and when we came back we drawed some oats and rye from the barn & emptyed it and in the afternoon the boys took a grist down to W. Hebron & left it & then the girls helped them to dig potatoes down to the other house & I finished cutting the burdocks up in the orchard & then I went over & cut corn in the big field till night & it is a cloudy & cool & windy day."

            Sun. Sept. 22: "We did'nt go to church We heard that Mrs. Norman Mahaffy was dead so Mother & I went over there awhile and they wanted us to take the family to the yard   the funeral is to be Wednesday and it is a cool cloudy & windy & raw day   it acts like Fall in earnest. but the wind is drying up the mud some what."

            Mon. Sept. 23: "In the forenoon I draged the rye ground in the field above the lower House with the spring tooth and in the afternoon I sowed the rye and Harold & James draged in what time they had with both teams and it is a cloudy day   Marion & Mother took the car and went down to West Hebron & got a grist and they went over to Norman Mahaffys."

            Tues. Sept. 24: "In the forenoon it rained   I chored around repaired some old barrels etc and in the afternoon I cut brush around the fences all that I will have time too this year & then I began digging potatoes down at the lower house and the children picked them up 15 bu."

            Wed. Sept. 25: "In the forenoon I finished dragging in the rye & got or took the roller down & got started and in the afternoon We went over to Mrs. Mahaffy's funeral & Marion & Mother took the Mourners down to the cemetery at North Argyle & I came home with John Weir & then I went at rolling the rye & finished it & after school was out Harold took the other team & the smoothing Harrow & went over the rest and then they went down & got a new ladder of David Thompson and it is a cloudy day & cool muddy roads now."

            Thur. Sept. 26: "It rained a lot last night & nearly all day & raining down to night   everything is flooded nearly and I chored around & sat around the house nearly all day."

            Fri. Sept. 27: "In the forenoon I went down back & cut corn in the big field and in the afternoon I picked some apples and chored around it rained quite a lot   it was a nasty afternoon   we drawed in the apples at night and it is a cloudy day   cool but no frost   water is running nearly everywhere."

            Sat. Sept. 28: "In the forenoon I picked apples down in the meadow orchard and the boys picked some of the ground and in the afternoon I picked a few and we drawed in what we picked and then we all girls too went over back & began pulling some beans & then we brought back a small load of pumpkins and at night we started for Fort Edward & had a little bad luck on the hill at Woodcocks & turned around & came back and it is a nice day some windy but a warm wind from the East or South."

            Sun. Sept. 29: "We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and it is a nice day   roads are drying up but lots of water and mud yet   it is windy the wind is in the west and its as though it might be cooler."

            Mon. Sept. 30: "In the forenoon I cut corn over in the back field and in the afternoon Mother & Marion took some apples out to Fort Edward and got some meat & done some trading and I picked some apples and after school was out we all took the young team over & pulled some beans and it came on rain & we had to come to the house. it is warm."

            Tues. Oct. 1: "In the forenoon I cut corn over back in the big field and in the afternoon I picked some apples in the hog orchard and after school was out the children & I went over in the big field & pulled the rest of the beans and got part of a load of pumpkins and Marion & Mother took a grist down to West Hebron & it is a nice day   some cloudy."

            Wed. Oct. 2: "In the morning Smith brought the thresh Machine here and then we took both teams over in the back meadow & got the buckwheat  2 loads was all of it and then we threshed it 50 bu & the children stayed at home and helped us & in the afternoon we took both teams and went over and got Harrys buckwheat & brought it over here & threshed it and it is a nice day some cloudy & rained in the morning we took the buckwheat down to the lower house & we had Willie Mahaffys Hayrack & wagon   the boys took it home at night."

            Thur. Oct. 3: "In the forenoon I cut corn over in the big field and I got done and in the afternoon Mother & Marion took Mrs. Mahaffy out to Fort Edward and took out 1 bbl apples & got some meat and I went down & dug potatoes at the lower house and the boys picked them up after school and it is a nice day."

            Fri. Oct. 4: "I picked apples part of the day in the Hog yard and after school was out we drawed in the apples and then we all went down and dug out the rest of the potatoes down at the lower house and it is a nice day some cloudy."

            Sat. Oct. 5: "We began digging in the field cross from the barn and they are just fair not big at all and we got 2 loads about 75 bu Giants and about night we all went up in the car over to Burr Harwoods & I bought 10 pigs for $5 each and am to go after them on Tuesday and it is a nice warm day Thunder showers at night and rain too."

            Sun. Oct. 6: "We all went to church and we stayed for sunday school and it is a warm day cloudy & we had a Thunder shower while we were at church and it rained a lot last night   wet again but keeps warm."

            Mon. Oct. 7: "We dug potatoes nearly all day in the field cross from the barn and we got 2 full loads or nearly so 75 bu anyway I was about sick all afternoon and at noon the children went over in the corn field & got a load of pumpkins it is a cool windy day but cleared off before night a little cold too   I am afraid it is going to freeze at night."

            Tues. Oct. 8: "We dug potatoes nearly all day in the field cross from the barn & we got 2 loads 75 bu and at noon part of us took the car & took a grist down to West Hebron & left it and then went up to Burr Harwoods & got 10 pigs $50.00 and it is a nice pleasant day   warm too cool nights."

            Wed. Oct. 9: "In the forenoon we all dug potatoes and got 1 load 35 bu and in the afternoon Marion & the youngsters went down & got the grist and then we drawed in our beans   the boys drawed them   I turned them over first & then I threshed part of them and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy."

            Thur. Oct. 10: "In the forenoon we all dug potatoes and we got a load 40 bu and in the afternoon I picked apples & our folks went out to Fort Edward and got 2 sacks of Bran and took Olliver & Rubys children down to Argyle to be examined and Mary Mahaffy rode out to Fort Edward with them."

            Fri. Oct. 11: "We dug potatoes all day in the field cross from the barn & got 2 loads 75 bu and it is a nice pleasant day and warm too."

            Sat. Oct. 12: "In the forenoon we all dug potatoes in the field cross from the barn we got a load 40 bu giants and in the afternoon it rained a little   just enough to keep us from digging and we chored around at one thing & another and it is a warm rain."

            Sun. Oct. 13: "We did'nt go to church any of us but after dinner we all took a ride down to the Cemetery & it began Thundering so we came right back home and we had a light shower here a heavy one went north and it is a warm day   some cloudy too   very windy   the children went up in the back fallow & got some chestnuts."

            Mon. Oct. 14: "We dug potatoes all day in the field cross from the barn and we got 2 loads and about 75 bu and it is a nice day cool & windy too."

            Tues. Oct. 15: "I was sick and in bed all day   Dr. Stillman was up and the children dug a few in the forenoon & in the afternoon they drawed the rest of the pumpkins & picked a few apples and it is a nice day."

            Wed. Oct. 16: "In the forenoon the children dug potatoes in the field cross from the barn    I did'nt work but felt some better and in the afternoon I went out & helped to dig and we got 2 loads to day 75 bu and it is a nice day   at noon the children took a grist down to West Hebron & left it."

            Thur. Oct. 17: "We dug potatoes all day nearly in the field cross from the barn we dug round ones & 2 men came here & killed the Heifer for beef & took ½ of her & the hide and it is a nice pleasant day    we got 2 parts of loads about 55 bu. and it is a nice warm day   at noon the children went down & got the grist."

            Fri. Oct. 18: "In the morning the children went up & got some chestnuts & then helped me to dig   we got all the round ones 20 bu and in the afternoon we all dug the rest of the Giants 1 load 40 bu and we finished one field and it was very hard digging & cold & windy. colder all day I guess they had showers some place last night."

            Sat. Oct. 19: "In the morning we went over in the back meadow & dug potatoes we got about 55 bu   nice stock but light   at noon the youngsters took Mrs. VanWarners Butter down to North Argyle & it is a nice pleasant day but frooze quite hard last night. James is some better."

            Sun. Oct. 20: "There was no service at our church to day as all churches are closed and school as well on account of the Influenza   we intended to take an Auto ride but rain came on just after dinner so we all stayed at home  it is a windy day but not cold."

            Mon. Oct. 21: "We all dug potatoes nearly all day over in the back field  Giants and we got 2 small loads 65 bu and it is a nice day only cooler & windy   James is better."

            Tues. Oct. 22: "We all dug potatoes nearly all day over in the back meadow we dug round ones and we worked at it all day at noon the children took a small grist down to West Hebron & left it and we got 2 small loads 65 bu and it is a nice pleasant day cold nights but warm in day time at night we all went down to Argyle on business  we took some Liberty bonds  mine 500   Mother 50   Marion 100   Hazel 50   Harold 50."

            Wed. Oct. 23: "We all dug potatoes over in the back meadow and we dug all day and we got 2 small loads round ones 65 bu and it is a nice day cool nights  at night we all went down to Cossayuna & on around by West Hebron & got our grist and back home."

            Thur. Oct. 24: "We all dug potatoes over in the back meadow and we worked all day and we got 1 load of Giants 40 bu and in the afternoon we dug round ones Wellington 35 bu and it is a nice pleasant day   warmer and it acts like rain."

            Fri. Oct. 25: "We all dug potatoes over in the back meadow all day we dug round ones Wellington in the forenoon 40 bu and in the afternoon we dug the boys' early ones 40 bu and it looks like rain we dug a few & left them in bags and at night we went down to Argyle."

            Sat. Oct. 26: "It rained nearly all forenoon and we chored around at one thing & a nother and in the afternoon the boys took Prince down & got a shoe put on and I picked some Ben Davis apples & the boys helped when they got back and it partly cleared off but kept cloudy and is warm as summer."

            Sun. Oct. 27: "There was no service at our church so we did'nt go anywhere  all stayed at home and done the chores and we had a nice rain   it keeps cloudy but no rain but   don't clear off very fast & keeps warm."

            Mon. Oct. 28: "We all dug potatoes all day over in the back Meadow and we finished   all done for this year and we got 35 bu early ones 25 bu Wellingtons 40 bu Giants and we brought over a little corn with one load  we took over both teams in the forenoon and in the afternoon we had a nice warm day to finish   It is rather cloudy but broken and warm too."

            Tues. Oct. 29: "the boys and I worked at picking the Ben Davis apples and we got them all cleaned up and put in the barn cellar and the boys took the jersey bull over to Billys & the Heifer to. and it is a nice warm day but looks some like rain at night. Warm as summer. In the forenoon the boys went over in the big field and got a load of corn & put it in the barn"

            Wed. Oct. 30: "It rained last night and rained all forenoon & we chored around and husked some corn and in the afternoon we finished husking what corn we had in the barn & then we took all the folks over to Smiths and I drawed some gravel up to the Hog pen to put in a cement cow stable. & it rained some and again at night."

            Thur. Oct. 31: "In the forenoon we went over to Smiths & got some Lumber and the plows & some things that was over there and then I picked some apples and the boys picked up some wind falls that blew off and in the afternoon we finished the apples and went over and got a jag of corn over in the big field and it is a nice day  some cloudy & warm but is some cooler & windy at night."

            Fri. Nov. 1: "In the forenoon the boys and I went over & helped Smith to dig potatoes & pick and in the afternoon we all went out to Fort Edward and done some trading got some clothes and shoes for the children and it was chore time when we got home and it is a nice day some windy & cool."

            Sat. Nov. 2: "In the morning the boys and I went over & helped Smith to finish digging potatoes and then the boys and I took a grist down to West Hebron & got some sand & left the grist and in the afternoon Marion went down & got the grist and then took Mary Mahaffy & some of our folks out to Fort Edward & got 1 sack of Bran & 1 of Middlings and I husked corn & the boys drawed over 2 jags of corn and it is some cloudy & got cooler at night."

            Sun. Nov. 3: "Marion, Hazel, Marjory & Mary E. went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and the rest of us stayed at home and kept house and I was sick all day   did'nt hardly go out in all day. and it is a nice day  warm too."

            Mon. Nov. 4: "It rained nearly all day  I am some better but not feeling very well. David Thompson came up to build over our steps   he worked at them part of the day & went home and it is a nasty day but not very cold."

            Tues. Nov. 5: "In the forenoon Marion took Mr & Mrs Gilchrist, Willie Mahaffy & Wife & Smiths wife & I down to Argyle to vote and in the afternoon Marion took Mother, John McKernon & Wife, Miss Pollock & Smith down to Argyle to vote and went up to North Argyle & got a load and I husked some corn and chored around and it is some cloudy but cleared off & was some cooler."

            Wed. Nov. 6: "In the morning David Thompson came up to do some carpenter work fix the steps & repair work and I helped him & husked some corn and it is a nice pleasant day   cool nights  it frooze quite hard last night. & Harry took a load of apples for me at 3.50 at home. 12 bbls."

            Thur. Nov. 7: "In the morning David Thompson came up & done some carpenter work & I helped him   we put new rollers on the Horse barn door & a new track & done some other repair work and Marion took a grist down to West Hebron & had to leave it and it is a nice pleasant day cool nights."

            Fri. Nov. 8: "In the forenoon Harold & James took a calf up to Belcher @ 16¢ per # and Marion went down to West Hebron & got the harness and I husked some corn and when the boys came back we read out the barn and in the afternoon Smith came over & helped us to draw in corn we got 4 loads & put it up on the mow. it is a nice pleasant day some cooler."

            Sat. Nov. 9: "It rained some last night & in the forenoon Marion went down to West Hebron and got the grist and the boys took the cider apples down to Argyle 24 bu @ 25¢ per bu. and I husked corn & chored around and in the afternoon we all went to church & Mrs. Mahaffy went with us & Marion & Hazel joined the church and it rained nearly all afternoon it is a wet time & very muddy roads."

            Sun. Nov. 10: "We all went to church and Mr. James Mahaffy & wife went with us & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and it was sacrament & we stayed for sunday school and it is a cloudy day and cooler roads are very muddy."

            Mon. Nov. 11: "In the forenoon I chored around and husked some corn and in the afternoon I drawed up 3 loads of corn from down in the big field and Marion & Mother went down to Argyle and got Mr. Cowan & brought him to look over the plaster job and at night we all went down to West Hebron to the blow out   the war is ended this morning . and it is a nice pleasant day   Smith took out 5 bbls of apples for me."

            Tues. Nov. 12: "In the morning Smith came over and we went at drawing in corn from the big field   I kept the boys at home to help and we drawed with both teams in the afternoon & we got it all drawed up to the barn  3 loads on the out side and it is a nice pleasant day warm but cold last night."

            Wed. Nov. 13: "In the forenoon I husked corn and in the afternoon Mother, Marion & H. Oliver & I went out to Glens Falls & took out some chestnuts & butter & got some plaster & some buckwheat ground and it was late when we got home the children had the chores all done and it is a nice day cool air."

            Thur. Nov. 14: "I husked corn most all day over by the barn and it is some cloudy and windy cooler but not very cold the roads are drying up fast now.  after school the boys took Mollie & prince down to Lewis to get shawd."

            Fri. Nov. 15: "In the morning Harold & James took a grist down to West Hebron with the little team & got it home & I took the big team down to Lewis to get shawd & when I came back I helped Smith to load up a load of potatoes and then I husked corn till noon and in the afternoon Marion took the car down to Argyle to get repaired  some shaft is broken and left it and I husked corn and the boys helped and it is a nice warm day. at night Marion, Hazel & Harold went over to the church to a social  drove Prince."

            Sat. Nov. 16: "In the forenoon the boys and I husked corn & got it all husked that was out doors and cleaned out the privey & chored around and in the afternoon I went over & helped Smith to draw in his corn & and it is a nice warm day rather cloudy."

            Sun. Nov. 17: "We did'nt go to church any of us to-day so all stayed at home and kept house and it is a cloudy day but warm as summer."

            Mon. Nov. 18: "In the forenoon Marion drove down to Argyle & got a "Mason" Mr. Cowan & he began laying up the Hog pen chimney but it came on rain at noon & he did'nt do much   the boys took him home before night awhile & it rained a lot one shower after another but is warm   at night it Thundered & lightening  flashed frequently. I chored around at one thing and another."

            Tues. Nov. 19: "In the morning the boys went down to Argyle after Mr. Cowan but he did'nt come up it was so wet and I chored around and in the afternoon Smith came over & we went at the hog pen chimney & layed up the most of it and it is a cloudy day & rain now & then a nasty wet time. but keeps warm."

            Wed. Nov. 20: "In the morning I went up to Willie Mahaffys & got 10 pullets for $10.00 and it is a cloudy & rainy day cloudy too."

            Thur. Nov. 21: "In the morning the boys took me over to Mr. Norman Mahaffys to help him to thresh   I stayed stayed all day and it is a cloudy day  very nasty everywhere. the children had the chores done when I got home  it keeps cloudy all the time & looks some like rain."

            Fri. Nov. 22: "In the morning I went over to Norman Mahaffys and helped him to thresh and they got done and when I got home I husked corn in the barn & Mother, Harry Oliver & Marion drove Prince down to Argyle & Marion brought the car home & Earl Ruby's little boy was sick & Mother stayed over with him awhile and it is a cloudy & damp day terrible muddy."

            Sat. Nov. 23: "The boys and I drawed out cow manure in the field by the barn till about middle of the afternoon & we got out 8 loads and then the boys took a small grist down to West Hebron and got it back again and I chored around and husked some corn & it kept getting colder all day   it is a disagreeable raw windy day.   very muddy roads."

            Sun. Nov. 24: "We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and it is a nice day some cloudy and windy cold last night but the wind got in the East & was warmer. it frooze last night."

            Mon. Nov. 25: "In the forenoon I boiled a kettle of feed and husked some corn & chored around and in the afternoon we went out to Fort Edward & on up to Hudson Falls in the car & took Mary Mahaffy & Flora Randles and Jen D. came home with us. we got 2 more bags of plaster and done some more errands & it is a cold & windy day   kept getting colder all day   quite cold & windy  at night   Harry Smith took a load of apples 10 bbls."

            Tues. Nov. 26: "I chored around and I husked some corn for the pigs and got stalks for the cows and it is the coldest night or morning we have had and it is cold husking. after dinner Mother, Marion & H. Oliver took Jen down to her Mothers at West Hebron   they went in the car."

            Wed. Nov. 27: "I chored around and husked corn & cut some old rails for the Kettle & cut up some limbs for the House stove and in the afternoon Marion, Mother & Harry Oliver went down to Argyle in the car and it is a nice day."

            Thur. Nov. 28: "In the forenoon the boys & I went over in the woods cross the meadow & split some old wood & carried it out in the orchard & started for Salem in the car but had a blow out so came back & after dinner we all went out to Fort Edward & seen a parade & went on up to Hudson Falls and it rained a little on us all the way home  we had Rubys children with us all day & night too. it is a nice day warm & began raining about night & rained a lot too."

            Fri. Nov. 29: "In the forenoon I went over & helped Smith to saw some wood & when I came back I boiled a kettle of feed & sorted over some apples and in the afternoon I husked some corn and at night we all went down to West Hebron to a lecture or one of the Lecture courses and it was very muddy but not very cold  some windy."

            Sat. Nov. 30: "In the forenoon the boys and I drawed the wood over in the corner of the meadow that we split & carried out of the woods and then we drawed 2 loads of manure to the orchard back of the barn and in the afternoon Harold & James took a grist down to West Hebron & got it back & I husked corn and it kept getting colder all day & was very windy too."

            Sun. Dec. 1: "Marion, Hazel & Harold went to church drove Mollie & they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and Mother & I stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a pleasant  but cold & windy and it frooze hard last night. & was windy rough going."

            Mon. Dec. 2: "In the forenoon I chored around & cut some limbs & kindleing wood and in the afternoon I husked some corn and Mother & Marion went down to West Hebron in the car and took Hazel and it is a nice day cool."

            Tues. Dec. 3: "I chored around and  husked some corn and at night Marion, Hazel & Harold went to Belcher to Misses Shields to practice for a church social and it is cold & rough."

            Wed. Dec. 4: "In the morning Marion & James went down to Argyle & got Will Cowan to do some mason work or put some plaster on the setting room and I waited on him & Smith was over here & repaired the Engine & about night he cut his foot over in the woods and Marion took him down to West Hebron to see a Doctor & when she came back she & I took Mr. Cowan down home at Argyle and it is a cold day"

            Thur. Dec. 5: "In the morning Mother & the girls went down to Argyle after Mr. Cowan to come back & finished his job plastering the kitchen ceiling and I helped him & it is a cold raw & windy day after school was out Harold took Hazel down to West Hebron to practice for a social & and Marion & I took Mr. Cowan Home & I met some men down there to do some business   the roads are fierce for cars."

            Fri. Dec. 6: "It snowed about 5 inches last night and is cold too   I husked corn most of the day and at night we all went over to the church to a social in the big sleighs and it was cold too & windy"

            Sat. Dec. 7: "In the forenoon Harold & James went down to Lewis Mattesons & got Mollie shawd & stayed nearly all day   I chored around & husked corn and it is a cold day but pleasant some warmer at night."

            Sun. Dec. 8: "Marion, Hazel, Harold & James went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school & drove 2 horses & a cutter. and Mother & I stayed at home and kept the youngsters & it is a cloudy & rain too. some fair sleighing but most wagons."

            Mon. Dec. 9: "In the forenoon I chored around cut some kettle wood & got ready to butcher to morrow and in the afternoon Harold & James took a grist down to West Hebron and they took a wagon it is a nice pleasant day it thawed quite a lot but got cooler   at night I husked some corn & Mother, Marion & I washed the Automobile and is very good going now."

            Tues. Dec. 10: "In the morning Will McNeil, Edd Pollock & Smith came over & helped me to butcher 9 pigs and it is a cool windy day it frooze quite hard last night  Hazel was sick to-day. it is cold at night too."

            Wed. Dec. 11: "In the morning Harry sent his man over to help me to load the pigs and I took them out to Hudson Falls at 22 & 23 cents a lb. and it is a stormy day but not very cold   Hazel is no better   we had the Doctor come up & see her. She has the Jauntice & is pretty sick too. I got home after dark a little   the boys had the chores done."

            Thur. Dec. 12: "I chored around and husked some corn part of the day and it is a cloudy day and it looks some like a storm   Hazel is some better to-day." 

            Fri. Dec. 13: "I husked corn and chored around all day and Hazel is getting along pretty well. the Doctor was  up to see her to-day and it snowed some more last night and is warmer to-day."

            Sat. Dec. 14: "It rained a lot last night I guess and the snow is melting to day   I husked corn most of the day and the boys helped me & and it is very icy and it thawed fast to-day  Hazel is gaining slowly."

            Sun. Dec. 15: "We did'nt go to church to-day so we stayed at home and kept house   Hazel is getting along very well and after dinner Mother, Marion, Harry Oliver & Harold went over to Smiths and seen the the children and it is a cloudy day but warm   the snow is nearly all gone & is very muddy now."

            Mon. Dec. 16: "I was about sick in the forenoon and in the afternoon I chored around and the boys done the chores in the morning and it is a cloudy & cool day. In the afternoon Harold & James took a grist down to West Hebron &  had to leave it. There is no school this week on account of the Influenza being so much of it in town."

            Tues. Dec. 17: "In the forenoon the boys & I cut some wood & chored around and in the afternoon Harold & James went down to West Hebron & got the grist and got some gas and I husked corn and it is a nice pleasant day but cold nights."

            Wed. Dec. 18: "In the forenoon the boys and I went over & helped Smith to saw wood awhile and in the afternoon we took the team & went up on top of the hill in the back meadow fallow & cut up a jag of old wood & brought it down to the house and then husked corn and Mother & Hazel & Harry Oliver drove the big team up to Belcher to see John Willis about papering. It is a nice day only cool & cloudy but cleared of before night."

            Thur. Dec. 19: "In the morning Harold & James went up to Belcher & got John Willis to paper & he papered the Setting room and I cut some wood & husked corn & chored around and the boys cut some wood and it is a nice pleasant day   cool nights but Indian summer now."

            Fri. Dec. 20: "I husked corn and chored around all day and John Willis papered the Kitchen and at night the boys and I took him up to Belcher we drove the big team and it is a nother nice pleasant day   cool nights but it is Indian summer weather all right"

            Sat. Dec. 21: "In the morning after we done the chores we all went in the car out to Fort Edward, Hudson Falls & Glens Falls and just as we was going into Glens Falls we had a blow out & had to send back to Hudson Falls to get a shoe and we got home about dark and we had a fine day warmer & pleasant   it was muddy in places and it is Indian Summer in earnest."

            Sun. Dec. 22: "We did'nt go to church so we all stayed at home and kept house & done the chores   it is a wet and nasty day   it rained a lot and is warm too. warm for the time of year"

            Mon. Dec. 23: "It rained a lot last night and in the forenoon the boys and I husked corn & we got it all husked that was on the barn floor and in the afternoon I husked some corn & chored around and the boys cut some apple tree wood and it is a nice warm day but some cooler at night   it is very muddy again   frost is nearly all out in places I think."

            Tues. Dec. 24: "In the forenoon after we done the chores the boys and I went up on the hill back of the barn and cut some wood and in the afternoon Mother drove the team down to Argyle & done some trading and it came on snow and was a nasty storm   it is very muddy going now and it is a cloudy day."

            Wed. Dec. 25: "It is a cloudy and a dark gloomy Christmas cloudy & foggy   a green Xmas & warm too. I husked corn & chored around   very muddy & nasty time now."

            Thur. Dec. 26: "I husked some corn & chored around and Mary E. was sick and I sorted some potatoes and chored around and in the afternoon it snowed some  the ground is white and it is colder at night."

            Fri. Dec. 27: "I chored around & we patched up the cow stable with tar paper and chored around & the boys cut some apple tree wood and I sorted a few potatoes and it is a raw & windy day. Harry Oliver is sick to-day."

            Sat. Dec. 28: "In the forenoon I went down to Argyle and paid my taxes and done some business and the boys went up to David Fosters in the morning and got my milk check and in the afternoon I chored around and the boys cut some apple tree wood and I chored around it is a pleasant day but cold at night & rough going."

            Sun. Dec. 29: "We did'nt go to church so all stayed at home and kept house and it is a pleasant day but cold this was the coldest morning we have had."

            Mon. Dec. 30: "the boys and I cut some wood up on the hill back of the barn and it is steep too. and it is a cloudy day and snowed some   it was cold in the morning but got warmer."

            Tues. Dec. 31: "I chored around and sorted some potatoes and chored around it snowed in the forenoon but got some warmer & looked like rain at night. At night Mr. & Mrs. Gilchrist & Edwin came down awhile   We have come to the close of another year It has been a year of High prices on most every thing. Harold has a cold & dont feel very well."
