Diary 1932

Jan. 1. Fri. We did up the housework, mopping and some baking. We froze ice cream. We got dinner ready. Hazel, George, Minnie, Mother, Laurence were here for dinner. In the forenoon Jimmie and Johnnie went to the lower place and cut some wood. George's folks stayed until about 3:30. When Laurence went home Marjory and children went down with him. Mother rode down with them. After the boys got the chores done we went to Argyle. Johnnie went to Salem and played ball. Oliver and Jimmie went over too. When they got back they went up to the hall to a Dance. I kept Marion's children and Richard Y. while they & Busy & Florence up to the Dance. About 6:00 it began snowing. It covered the ground. It is quite cold.

Jan. 2. Sat. We did up the housework and baking. The boys tore down the old ice house. Then Jimmie went down to John L's and he came up and helped them fix this end of the old cow stable for an ice house. It began snowing after dinner and snowed hard about all afternoon. It made the roads quite slippery. At night Johnnie and Jimmie went away. It is not very cold. At night Marion called and said that Jennie was at Mother's.

Jan. 3. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. Then we all got ready and went to Argyle. Sunday School was at 11 o'clock and church at 12. Rev. Reynolds of North Argyle preached. I stayed down to Mother's all afternoon because Jennie was there. Marjory and children stayed down until night. The young folks went to C. E. It was a good day and not very cold.

Jan. 4. Mon. We did up the housework and washing. Oliver and Florence went to school. Johnnie took Jimmie's car and took out a grist. He was supposed to take Aunt Jen out to Fort Edward to take the train but he forgot her. So Ed took the Dodge and took her out. She got out in time for the train. John Liddle came up and helped the boys fix the ice house. Then Jimmie took him home and helped him get his car started. It was cloudy and damp and cold all day. The boys went to Argyle at night.

Jan. 5. Tues. We did up the housework. Jimmie went down to John's. Johnnie did chores and chored around. Oliver and Florence went to school. We did some of the ironing in the afternoon. At night Johnnie and Oliver went to Argyle to a ball game The High School was going to play Fort Edward but they didn't come. Jimmie went down to John's after supper and helped fix his car. It was cloudy and damp all day and quite muddy.

Jan. 6. Wed. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. John came up and got the churn. Jimmie took his car and took the ice tools home and helped John the rest of the day. Johnnie chored around. We finished the ironing, Johnnie fixed the engine. It rained hard all day and was quite cold and made quite a lot ice. It snowed some.

Jan. 7. Thurs. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. Johnnie & Jimmie and John L. cut wood down to the lower place. It was quite warm and took the snow all off in the night. It was warm in the daytime. But it is awful muddy.

Jan. 8. Fri. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. Johnnie, Jimmie and John L. cut wood at the lower place. Busy swept and I did some baking. We mended in the afternoon. At night Johnnie and Oliver went to basket ball practice. About 8:30 at night H. Warner came and got 30 bushel of potatoes. It was a good day and not awful cold but quite muddy.

Jan. 9. Sat. We did up the housework. mopping, baking. The boys cut wood at the lower place. In the afternoon Laurence Rouse and Laurence McW. came up and helped and they got through chopping. At night Jimmie and Johnnie went away. We did some mending in the afternoon. It was cloudy and damp and quite cold.

Jan. 10. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. Liddle's came up and seperated milk in the forenoon. In the afternoon we went up to Hazel's and got our little puppy. George got it for us up to John Thompson's at South Granville. Jimmie went down to Liddle's. In the afternoon Laurence came up and Marjory and children went down with him. At night the young folks went to C. E. and I went and Marion's. It was a good day and not very cold.

Jan. 11. Mon. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. The boys drew down wood in the forenoon and in afternoon they drew a load of hay from the lower place. At night Jimmie and Johnnie went to Argyle. Jimmie went to the Schoolhouse to an Agricultural meeting. Busy went down with them and stayed at Marion's while her and Ed went to Greenwich to a surprise birthday party for Mary. Busy stayed all night. At night it was awful cold it was 6º above zero just at dark. But is warmed up in the night. We did some washing by hand. It was a good day.

Jan. 12. Tues. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. I did some baking and Marjory did some ironing. I churned. The boys went to Liddle's and cut wood all day. They did chores after school. Busy came home with Oliver and Florence. Helen came home with them too. After supper Johnnie took me down to George McKernon's on business. The roads are quite bad and awful muddy. It was quite warm.

Jan. 13. Wed. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. They were late because the roads are bad and we overselpt and they didn't get started until late. In the forenoon I baked some. In the forenoon Jimmie went down and got Bob Dinning. He filed Queen's teeth. Jimmie took him back and he didn't get back until afternoon. They went down to Liddle's and cut wood in the afternoon. Jimmie and John went away and didn't get home very early. Johnnie and Oliver did chores. Johnnie went away at night. It was a good day and quite warm. It was 52º above at noon. We had the door open all day and the evening until supper.

Jan. 14. Thurs. We did up housework. Oliver and Florence did not go to school. They got all ready to go but Johnnie was trying to put the packing in the water pump on the Dodge and he did not get it put back together until about 9:30. So they thought it was too late and the roads are awful bad. So all three the boys went down to John's and cut wood. In the forenoon we cleaned out the rotten apples out of the cellar. In the afternoon we worked around. It was a good day and warm. We had the door open all day. It was bout 50º above at noon.

Jan. 15. Fri. We did up the housework and sweeping. Oliver and Florence went to school. Johnnie took them to school. He stayed around Argyle all day. He got home about 4:00. Jimmie went to Liddle's. At night Jimmie brought John's old car up. Then at night Jimmie, Johnnie, Busy, Kenneth, Stanley and John went to Argyle to a basket ball game. Florence stayed down and came home with them from the ball game. Oliver stayed down after school and the High School went to Greenwich to play ball. It was rainy and cloudy. The wind blew quite cold at night. The roads are awful bad and muddy and rutty.

Jan. 16. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie and Oliver chored around and did chores. Johnnie worked with engine a while in the forenoon. We cut up the last Quarter of the beef and put it out to keep cold. Johnnie went away at night with Jimmie's car and got stuck over on the barn hill. They got King and drew him out. The cows went up to Clayton's and Jimmie went up after them after supper. It was a good day and not very cold but the going is bad.

Jan. 17. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. I popped some pop corn. We had dinner about 2:00. We all stayed home all day. It snowed in the night and a little in the morning and it rained good share of the day. It was not very cold.

Jan. 18. Mon. We did up the housework and a big washing. We washed full spreads. They all got dry. We did the ironing and the churning in the afternoon. Toward night I canned some beef steak and some soup broth. Oliver and Florence went to school. Jimmie went to Liddle's. It got colder toward night.

Jan. 19. Tues. We did up the housework and Busy did the baking. Oliver and Florence rode down with Laurence and went to school. Johnnie did chores in the forenoon. After dinner Johnnie and I went to Argyle on business. Johnnie took out a grist. Florence stayed down to Marion's after school and got her hair cut. Eddie came home with us. After supper Busy, Johnnie, Jimmie, Oliver went to a ball game and Eddy went home. It was a good day and not very cold but the roads are awful bad.

Jan. 20. Wed. We did up the housework and some baking. Busy churned in the forenoon. Johnnie did chores. I worked on Florence's waist. It was cloudy and quite cold. Oliver and Florence went to school.

Jan. 21. Thurs. We did up the housework. I baked bread and buns today. Oliver and Florence went to school. Johnnie has got a sore hand and he soaked it in salts and water. In the forenoon we set up the stove up stairs. In the forenoon Busy swept some. Jimmie went to Liddle's. It was kind of snowy and cold.

Jan. 22. Fri. We did up the housework and Busy swept some. Oliver and Florence went to school. Jimmie went to Glens Falls. I rode down to Argyle with him because I had to go down on business. I stayed all day and came home with Oliver and Florence. Johnnie did chores. At night Jimmie took Busy down to Grange meeting. Ruth came home with us. It was a good day and quite cold. The roads are pretty bad.

Jan. 23. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. The boys sorted thirty bushel of potatoes and did chores. Jimmie went to Liddle's. In the afternoon it rained and froze and made the traveling kind of slippery. At night Jimmie went away. Johnnie, Busy, Florence and Oliver went to a basket ball game. Ruth rode down with them. Helen Clark came home with them and stayed all night.

Jan. 24. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. It was a good day but quite slippery and muddy. About 3:00 Johnnie took Helen home with Jimmie's car. At night Jimmie, Oliver, Marjory and Busy went to Christian Endeavor.

Jan. 25. Mon. We did up the housework and washed out some clothes by hand. We had a couple cans of milk back and we seperated them. Jimmie went down to Liddle's. Florence had to try examinations this week so she rode down with Laurence and is going to stay at Marion's. After dinner Johnnie, Earl and I went to Salem on business. It was cloudy and quite cold but not stormy. In the morning Johnnie and Jimmie took Queen up on the hill and shot her. They took back J. McKernon's scales and meat Jar in Jimmie's car.

Jan. 26. Tues. We did up the housework. Jimmie and Johnnie went to Liddle's work. Oliver chored around. I sewed most of the day. Liddle's came up and seperated milk. The boys went down to a basket ball game. Florence had to try English exam. this forenoon. It was a good day but quite cold.

Jan. 27. Wed. We did up the housework and Busy mopped. Oliver had to go to school and try Geometry examination. Florence had to try History in forenoon and Silent Reading in afternoon. John L. came up in forenoon and we decided that we would kill our pigs. He called J. Randles and he had the water hot and so they took them down there and dressed them. They dressed six this afternoon. Laurence helped them. At night Johnnie went away. Oliver and Florence got home about 4:00. It snowed so made it quite slippery. At night to got quite cold.

Jan. 28. Thurs. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to Liddle's and worked. We got the grease cut up off from the inwards and tryed that out. I sewed some on Florence's dress. It was a good day. Busy swept upstairs. The boys went to basket ball practice.

Jan. 29. Fri. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to John's. We cut up the pigs and the lard and got it all tryed out. At night Jimmie went away. It rained and froze on so made it quite slippery. I was going down to keep the kids for Marion to go to Masonic Dance but is was too slippery to start out. It was quite cold.

Jan. 30. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping, and baking. It rained hard in the morning but quit before noon. John L. came up to see if he could get someone to go down and stay with the kids while he and Edna went to the Dairyman's League dinner at Argyle Grange Hall. So Busy went down . I sewed about all day on Florence's suit and waist. I didn't get it quite finished. Jimmie went down through Argyle so he took the sausage down to J. Weir's and got it ground. When he came home he brought Busy. After supper Busy, Florence, Johnnie, Oliver and Jimmie went to Argyle to a basket ball game. It was nice in afternoon and at night. The wind blew at night . In the afternoon Johnnie and Oliver drove King down to lower place and cut wood.

Jan. 31. Sun. 6º above zero Windy. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. We got ready and went to Argyle except Johnnie and Jimmie. Oliver and Florence went to Sunday School. Marjory and children went down to McWhorters. Busy and I stayed to Marion's and kept the kids while Marion and Ed went to Albany to see Dot. They took Garry's car. Hazel and George and Minnie came down to Marion's after church. They stayed until about 3:30. The young folks went to C. E. We got home about 9:00. It snowed off and on all day but didn't amount to much. It was terrible windy all day. It was cold.

Feb. 1. Mon. 6º below zero. windy. We did up the housework. We did not wash because it was too cold and windy. Florence went down to school with Laurence but she was late because he couldn't get his car started. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie and Oliver went to Fort Edward after groceries and cow feed and a pork barrel. They got home about four o'clock. They did chores. We made our sausage this afternoon. Put it in bags and had seven coffee cans full. Teddy is sick today. It was awful cold and windy the sunshone bright and warm.

Feb. 2. Tues. We did up the housework. I made the brine for the hams, shoulder's and bacon. I cleaned out the barrel and smoked it. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie and Oliver went out with a grist. Florence came home with them. It was about five when they got home. Jimmie came home about one. John, Edna, kids came up and seperated milk. They brought oil so we drew off the old and put the new in. John and Jimmie and boys went over to Mud Lake to see about the ice. It was about 6 inches deep. The girls came up here from school. They went home about five o'clock. At night Johnnie and Oliver went to basket ball practice. It snowed about all day but didn't amount to much. It wasn't awful cold. We didn't wash because it was snowing.

Feb. 3. Wed. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie drew down the rest of the wood from up in front of the house in forenoon. We did chores in afternoon . It was cloudy and not awful cold.

Feb. 4. Thurs. We did up the housework, and the washing. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie froze ice cream in forenoon. At night Liddle's came up and seperated milk. It snowed hard all afternoon and at night. We had the clothes on the line on the ground.

Feb. 5. Fri. We did up the housework and some ironing and did baking in forenoon. The snow was quite deep and was drifted some so Oliver and Florence did not go to school in the forenoon. The snow plow came up before noon. The boys did chores before noon. Jimmie went down to Liddle's in afternoon. Marjory and Lois went down and stayed to Liddles in afternoon. The rest of us all went to Argyle. Earl went to Marion's. Busy got her hair cut. At night when we got home Busy took down the rest of the clothes. It was a good day but quite cold.

Feb. 6. Sat. We did up the housework, baking, mopping. Johnnie and Oliver took a load of manure down to lower place and brought back a load of wood. We had dinner about five o'clock. We finished the ironing. My legs are lame and sore so I could not travel around much. At night Johnnie, Jimmie, Oliver, Busy and Florence went down to a basket ball game. Jimmie went to Liddle's. It was a good day but not very cold.

Feb. 7. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. They all went to Argyle except Florence and I. Marjory and children stayed at Marion's and the rest went to church. Marjory stayed down. Helen came home with them from church. They all went down at night to C. E. except me. Johnnie went away in the afternoon with Jimmie's car. It was a good day.

Feb. 8. Mon. We did up the housework. Marjory got Lois' things ready and went down to Argyle with Laurence and left Lois down to McWhorter for them to keep. Oliver & Florence rode down with them. Gert. McKernon rode down too. Marjory, Laurence, Earl, Marion, Raymond & Mother and us went up to Gilchrist's to their Golden Wedding. There was about 150 there. In the morning it snowed then turned into rain but it quit before noon. Johnnie went down after Oliver & Florence after school. Marjory & Earl went down with Laurence after Lois and came up in the evening. At night Busy & Oliver walked to McKernon's to a Washington Pioneers party. That is what the Argyle Seniors call themselves. They came up on a sleighload & Busy & Oliver rode back with them. We had to make ice cream to take up to Gilchrist's. Then Rita wanted our freezer to make some for the party. It was nice in the afternoon and not very cold but the wind blew quite hard. Teddy weighed 17¾ lbs.

Feb. 9. Tues. We did up the housework. Marjory did quite a big washing. It all got dry. Oliver & Florence went to school. Johnnie went to Argyle and began taking the car apart because there was something broke about it. He stayed down all day and brought Ed's car home. Jimmie started cutting wood down at Joe Randles' today. They did chores. Johnnie went down to Basket Ball practice at night & Oliver came home with him. It was quite cold.

Feb. 10. Wed. We did up housework. Johnnie & Oliver went to Argyle. Johnnie worked on the car. He brought Ed's car back home. Jimmie & Earl went down to John's and stayed all forenoon. In the afternoon Jimmie went away with J. Liddle. I was sewing & cutting out Busy's green dress. It stormed part of the day. Oliver & Florence stayed down to Marion's.

Feb. 11. Thurs. We did up the housework and some baking. I sewed on Busy's dress. Jimmy & Johnnie went to Argyle with Jimmie's car and worked on the Dodge. They were at Mother's for dinner. They got it all apart today. Oliver & Florence stayed down at Marion's until after school. At night Busy, Johnnie, & I went to Argyle and we got Florence & Oliver and we went up to the town hall to a play 'Henry's Wedding' It was pretty good. The roads are kind of slippery & sloppy. It was a good day. Oliver & Florence came home with us because there is no school because Tomorrow is Lincoln's birthday.

Feb. 12. Fri. We did up the housework and baking. I sewed on Busy's dress. Johnnie and Jimmie went to Argyle. Jimmie went to Glens Falls after new parts for the Dodge. They got it partly put back together. They went in Jimmie's car. At night Jimmie went away and Marjory rode down with him and her and Marion, kids and Mother went up to the hall to 'Henry's Wedding'. Ed kept Ray. It was a good day and not very cold but the roads are kind of slippery in the tracks.

Feb. 13. Sat. We did up the housework. mopping and baking. I sewed of Busy's dress. I got it finished. The boys did not work on the car today. Jimmie and Johnnie went to Joe Randles' and cut wood. Oliver chored around.

Feb. 14. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. We stayed home all day. It was a good day and not very cold. At night Johnnie, Jimmie and Busy went to Christian Endeavor.

Feb. 15. Mon. We did up the housework. We did a big washing. It all got dry and we did the ironing. Oliver and Florence rode down with Johnnie in Ed's car. Johnnie worked on the Dodge in the afternoon but didn't get it finished. So he brought Ed's car home and Oliver and Florence came home. It was a good day. Jimmie went to Joe's and cut wood.

Feb. 16. Tues. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence rode down with Laurence. Johnnie couldn't get Ed's car going for quite awhile. Johnnie took a grist as far as Argyle and left it and was supposed to work on the car but didn't much. I went to Argyle with him down to Mother's as it is her birthday. I home home with Johnnie and Oliver and Florence did too. It was a good day and quite icy around. Ralph Clare came and borrowed the bobsleighs. Oliver and Johnnie went to basket ball practice. Liddle's came up and seperated milk.

Feb. 17. Wed. We did up the housework and baking. Johnnie took Oliver and Florence to school with Ed's car and he and Ed got the Dodge put back together. Then he took out the grist and took Ed to Glens Falls. Oliver and Florence came home from school with Johnnie. Jimmie went down to Joe's and cut wood. At night Johnnie and Jimmie went out to the show. It was a good day. I churned about all day but did not get butter so left it standing in churn over night.

Feb. 18. Thurs. We did up the housework and baking. Oliver and Florence went to school. Jimmie went down to Joe's and cut wood. Johnnie did chores and chored around. It was a good day but got awful cold toward night. The wind blew hard. It was zero in the evening.

Feb. 19. Fri. We did up the housework, baking and sweeping. I mended. Johnnie and Jimmie went to Liddle's and began cutting ice and filling his ice house from his pond up in the woods. Oliver and Florence drove the Dodge to school. At night Jimmie, Busy and Florence went to a dance and I went down and kept Marion's kids and Richard Y. It was a good day but cold.

Feb. 20. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. The three boys went to Liddle's and cut ice and filled his ice house but didn't get through. At night Johnnie went away. The Liddle's came up and seperated milk. It was a good day but awful windy and cold all day.

Feb. 21. Sun. Zero. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. The kids rode down hill. We had dinner about noon and then we all except Johnnie and Oliver got ready and went up to Hazel's. We stayed for supper then we went down to Argyle to Marion's. Johnnie and Oliver did chores then they went down to C. E. The young folks and Helen all went to C. E. because they had a play. I kept Earl and Lois at Marion's. It was a good day and not awful cold in afternoon and evening.

Feb. 22. Mon. (20º above). We did up the housework and did quite a little washing by hand. Oliver and Florence drove the Dodge to school. Johnnie and Jimmie went to John's and cut ice. The girls did the ironing. It was a good day and not awful cold.

Feb. 23. Tues. We did up the housework and baking. Oliver and Florence drove the Dodge to school. In the morning John came up and he and the boys finished fixing the ice house. They put some sawdust in it. They did chores after dinner. Jimmie went to John's the rest of the afternoon and John went home. Jimmie did not get home until after we had gone to bed. Johnnie chored around in afternoon. The car had froze up coming home from school so they worked and got it thawed out. At night Johnnie and Oliver drove the Dodge down to Basket Ball practice. It was a good day but quite cold all day. It was quite windy.

Feb. 24. Wed. (Zero). We did up the housework and baking. Oliver and Florence went down to John's. Johnnie did part of the chores in the forenoon. Then he walked down to John L's and rode to Argyle with John. He came home with Oliver and Florence. It was a good day but quite cold all day. I ripped up a dress an am going to make Helen one out of it.

Feb. 25. Thurs. (6º below Z.). We did up the housework. I pressed out the cloth and got Helen's dress cut out. Johnnie and Jimmie went to John's. They got his truck running and are going to draw ice from 'Mud Lake' to finish filling his ice house. It is a good day but quite cold. Oliver and Florence went to school. They drew 20 cakes at a load. It is 10 inches thick. Helen came home with Oliver from school.

Feb. 26. Fri. We did up the housework and baking. Busy did sweeping. Jimmie drew ice all day on the truck for us. John went over and helped him load the last two loads. Johnnie and John packed the ice. Oliver and Florence went to school. Eddy came home with them from school. They got our ice all up today. They have 252 cakes. George Hanna was cutting on 'Mud Lake' for 2¢ a cake so we bought it from him. I sewed about all day on Helen's dress. It was a good day and not very cold. We made ice cream.

Feb. 27. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. I had to bake for the Senior Food Sale this afternoon at town Hall. I sewed some on Helen's dress in forenoon. Johnnie and Jimmie went to Liddle's and drew some more ice for him. Oliver chored around. In the afternoon we got ready and went to Argyle and took the food down for the 'Food Sale'. We stayed down until after the ball game. The three boys came down in Jimmie's car. We were at Marion's for supper. Marion kept Lois and the rest of us all went to the Basket Ball games. The High School played Greenwich Boys Scouts and the Single Men played The Married men. The Single Men won 26-17. Helen Clark came up and stayed all night. It was cloudy but not very cold. Ed went to Albany and saw Dot. She had been sitting up in the wheel chair. He thinks she is a lot better and is as big as Ruth.

Feb. 28. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. We all went to church except Marjory and children. They stayed to Marion's during church and went down to McWhorter's in afternoon. We did not stay for Sunday School. We made ice cream after we got home from church. In the afternoon Johnnie took Helen home with Jimmie's car. At night we all went to Argyle. I stayed at Mother's. It was a cloudy day but not very cold.

Feb. 29. Mon. We did up the housework and a big washing but it not get dry. Oliver and Florence went to school. In the forenoon Johnnie took John's old Chevrolet and Jimmie took his car and went out to Hudson Falls and got 1600 lbs. of wet sawdust. They put it on the ice. I sewed some on Helen's coat.

March 1. Tues. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. Johnnie and Jimmie drew up hay from the lower place on John's truck. They put some hay around the ice. The girls did the ironing and got the clothes all down. At night Johnnie, Busy, Florence went down to Clark's. Oliver drove the Dodge to Argyle and went to Salem to a Future Farmer's Meeting with the Fowler boys. It was a cloudy day and not awful cold. I got Helen's coat all finished and Oliver took it down at night.

March 2. Wed. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school with Laurence, Jimmie went to Joe's and cut wood. Johnnie chored around and he took out a grist. It was a good day.

March 3. Thurs. We did up the housework and baking. Oliver and Florence went to school. Jimmie and Johnnie went to Joe's and cut wood. It was not very cold and a good day. At night I went down to Mr. Hamilton's to a meeting of the Seniors Mother's to see about taking food to eat tomorrow night. Oliver took me down. Florence stepped on a rusty nail with her foot. It bled a good deal.

March 4. Fri. We did up the housework, baking and Busy did sweeping. Oliver went to school. Florence did not go because her foot is quite sore. Jimmie went to Joe's and cut wood. Johnnie chored around and did chores. At night Johnnie went to Cambridge and played ball. Then he came back to the Dance and Card Party. We all went to the Card Party and Dance at the Grange Hall for the benefit of the Senior Class. I had to take 4½ doz. doughnuts. (The Mothers of the Seniors were hostesses and the Seniors were Waiters) It was Olivers experience in anything like that but he said when he got home he had an awful good time. They made almost $150 to help on their Washington Trip at Eastertime. Marjory and kids went to Argyle. It was a good day and not very cold. Busy stayed down to Marion's all night.

March 5. Sat. We did up the housework, baking, mopping. Johnnie and Jimmie went to Joe's and cut wood. Oliver chored around and did chores. It was a good day. At night Jimmie went to Argyle. Marion and Ed and Mr. & Mrs. Gallup went to Albany to see Dot today. Mrs. Gallup cut Dot's hair. Busy kept the kids. Florence's foot is quite sore.

March 7. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. We did not go to church. Jimmie went down to John's awhile in forenoon. In the afternoon we boiled down some maple syrup and made some sugar. At night Johnnie, Jimmie, Marjory went down to C. E. Busy came home with Marjory and Laurence. At night it began snowing and the wind blowing. It wasn't awful cold today.

March 7. Mon. We did up the housework. I sewed some. The girls did some washing by hand. It was snowing so they hung them on the porch. They didn't get dry. Oliver and Florence drove the Dodge to school. Jimmie went down to John's and went looking for an engine but didn't get one. Johnnie drew a couple loads of manure and brought back some wood. It snowed most of the day but didn't amount to much. Jimmie didn't get back in time to help with chores. The other boys didn't get chores done until about 8 o'clock. The Washington Pioneers met up at Huggin's but Oliver didn't go. It was not awful cold but wind blew hard at night.

March 8. Tues. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. John L. came up and he and Jimmie went away in forenoon. Then Jimmie went down there in the afternoon. Johnnie drew down a couple loads of manure and brought back some wood. He had to go up by the woods and get one load and it took quite a while. The snow on top is kind of light and is drifting some. After school Johnnie took me up to McKernon's after part of the Transportation money. It was drifted between Clare's and McKernon's and Johnnie had to shovel a track.

March 9. Wed. We did up the housework. Oliver & Florence went to school. Jimmie went down to Joe's and cut wood. Johnnie drew three loads of manure to the lower place. It was a good day but awful cold and windy. Johnnie went away at night.

March 10 Thurs. Zero We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. Johnnie drew two loads of manure to the lower place. We had dinner kind of late. Jimmie went to Joe's and cut wood. It was snowy in forenoon but bright and cold in afternoon. Ruth came home with Oliver and Florence.

March 11. Fri. We did up the housework, sweeping. There was no school today because there is a teacher's conference. Jimmie went down to John's in forenoon and Joe's in the afternoon. The boys drew three loads of manure. In the afternoon Busy, Florence, Ruth & Earl went for a ride with Ned on the cutter. At night Jimmie went to Argyle to the Dance and Ruth went home. It was a good day but quite cool and windy. The sleighing is going fast.

March 12. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. The boys drew two loads of manure in the forenoon because the sleighing is pretty well gone in some places. They took another load after dinner and Busy & Florence went down with them. At night Johnnie went away. The rest of us went down to John L's. It was a good day but quite windy The roads are quite rough and some deep ruts.

March 13. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did the chores. We were about ready to go to church but Hazel, George & Minnie & Jack their dog came down so we stayed home. They went home about 3:30. At night Jimmie, Johnnie, Oliver, Florence & Busy went to C. E. It was a good day but quite cold.

March 14. Mon. We did up the housework. We did a big washing and the clothes all got dry and we got the ironing all done. Oliver and Florence went to school. Jimmie went to John's. Laurence came up & he and Johnnie were going to Crosiers auction but it was all over. When he went home Marjory went with him & they went to the show at night. It was a good day but is quite windy & awful cold at night.

March 15. Tues. We did up the housework and baking. Oliver and Florence went to school with Laurence. Johnnie took out a grist. Jimmie and John L. went to Albany to get a part for the engine but didn't get it. They went and seen Dottie. After the boys got the chores done Johnnie took the gobbler over to Darfler's and traded him for theirs. Our weighed 27½ and theirs 23¼. Jimmie got back about 8:00. It was a good day. In the afternoon Mr. Slavin, from the National Biscuit Company , came and brought his bill for the damage done his bread truck by the accident that Oliver and his man had on Argyle corner Jan. 4. The amount was $88.00. He wants me to let him know in a few day about it.

March 16. Wed. We did up the housework. Oliver and Florence went to school. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie chored around. Busy went down to Edna's and did her washing for her because she is not feeling very good. At night Johnnie and Oliver and Jimmie went to Basket Ball practice and then they went down to the church social. Marjory went to the Social. The rest of us stayed home. It was a good day and not very cold but quite windy.

March 17. Thurs. We did up the housework and baking. Johnnie did chores in forenoon. In the afternoon we all went to Argyle. Johnnie was going to get the radiator fixed but couldn't get anybody to do it. Harper took the radio tubes down with him. We didn't get them because he wasn't in the store. It was a good day. The roads are muddy. Big Bess had a calf today.

March 18. Fri. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to John's. Florence went to school. Marjory and children went to Marion's. The rest of us went to Glens Falls and got Oliver's clothes to have when he goes to Washington, D. C. We waited until school was out. Marjory and children went down to McWhorter's and didn't come home until night. It was a good day and not very cold.

March 19. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping, baking. Jimmie went to see about a car and Johnnie stayed at Argyle and practiced basket ball. Oliver chored around and studied and copied one of his compositions. In the afternoon we took out the Hams and Shoulders and Shanks. At night Busy, Florence, Johnnie, Jimmie and Oliver went to two ball games at Argyle. Johnnie & Oliver both played. Argyle won both games. It was Olivers last Basket Ball Games. Helen Clark came home with them. It was a good day and not awful cold.

March 20. Sun. We did up the housework. We all went to church except Marjory and children. They stayed down until night. In the afternoon Marion, Ed and children came up. Jimmie and I didn't stay for Sunday School but the rest did. We came home and got dinner. In the afternoon Johnnie took Jimmie's car and took Helen C. home. It was a good day and not very cold. It got colder in night.

March 21. Mon. (5º above). We did up the housework, baking and did quite a bit of washing by hand. Jimmie went to John's. Oliver and Florence went to school. Johnnie took down a load of manure in afternoon. In the afternoon I called out to the National Biscuit Company. to Mr. Slavin, and took them that I was told not to do anything about it. He said alright that was what he wanted to know. It was a good day but snowed some at night.

March 22. Tues. (18º above) We did up the housework, and baking. Oliver and Florence went to school. Jimmie went to John's. Toward morning it started raining and froze on everything. It rained until about middle of forenoon. In the afternoon the wind began to blow and blowed the ice off from trees. I sewed the buttons on Oliver's new suit and pressed his other one.

March 23. Wed. We did up the housework. Oliver & Florence went to school and rode down with Laurence. Jimmie went to John's. In the afternoon Busy, Johnnie and I went to Argyle. We brought home the school kids. It was a good day. The roads are quite muddy.

March 24. Thurs. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to John's. Busy and I took Oliver and Florence to school then we went to Glens Falls and got Oliver's Top Coat and some other things. Johnnie drew a load of manure in forenoon. It snowed in afternoon so he didn't draw any. At night Oliver got most of his things ready to take to Washington D. C. with him.

March 25. Fri. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. Oliver had to go to register. Johnnie took them down. Oliver left home ready to go to Washington with the Senior Class. There are 16 of them with Mrs. G. W. Hamilton as Chaperone. Oliver rode out to Fort Edward with Edgar Snyder and his grandfather. Johnnie & other boys went out to Fort Edward and saw them off on the train. They left Fort Edward at 11:55 A.M. for Albany. They left Albany for Washington at 6:30 P.M. Johnnie stayed down and went to school in afternoon. Jimmie and John L. sawed wood at Gilchrists in forenoon and came here to saw in the afternoon but Johnnie wasn't home so they went down to Clayton Pollock's and drawed wood for him. In the afternoon a couple of men came and bought a load of potatoes to go next week Wednesday. In the afternoon it began and snowed until about dark. Jimmie didn't get home until the chores were all done. There were two load of men went to Albany to see the Senior Class start for Washington. Some of them were: Mr. Hamilton, Harold H., Ed MacE, La Rue McClay, George Reid, Horace Story, and Jim Mairs.

March 26. Sat. We did up the housework, baking. Jimmie and John went down and finished drawing up Clayton Pollock's wood. They got back about 11:00. Johnnie chored around in forenoon. Then they began sawing wood and sawed about an hour. Then stopped for dinner and it began raining and it rained hard all afternoon until about dark. Then it stopped. John stayed about all afternoon. At night John's folks all came up. Johnnie went away at night. The roads are awful muddy and kind of bad going.

March 27. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. Johnnie, Busy and Florence tapped a few more trees. Jimmie went over to see Mr. and Mrs. Crosier. Then he went to John's. We stayed home all day. It was a good day but quite muddy.

March 28. Mon. We did up the housework. When we got up the ground was covered with snow. It had been snowing most all night. It snowed hard and the wind blew hard all day. It was a regular blizzard. It was an awful storm for this time of year. The roads were all drifted full of snow. Johnnie and Jimmie started for Argyle but turned around and came back. The wind blew hard all night. We boiled some sap down on the stove.

March 29. Tues. We did up the housework and a big washing. The clothes all got dry and we got the ironing all done. The boys shoveled paths for the clothes lines. Then Jimmie rode King horse back down to John's. They shoveled some snow. He came home for dinner then he went back down and he and John took a team and went to Argyle. They left the team on Durkee's flat because the road was drifted full and walked to Argyle. Jimmie got home about 8:00 He brought the mail. The roads are drifted so that the man couldn't get through. He walked part way. It was a good day but got awful windy toward night.

March 30. Wed. We did up the housework. The boys drove King on cutter down to lower place and shoveled snow. In the afternoon Jimmie drove his car down and got through and went to Argyle. It was a good day. We began boiling sap in the afternoon out doors.

March 31. Thurs. We did up the housework. We boiled sap until about four o'clock. Johnnie took out a grist and didn't get home until about 4:00 because the mill had broken down. In the forenoon Jimmie and some other men shoveled snow up toward Gilchrist's. In the afternoon it rained and Jimmie went down to John's.

April 1. Fri. We did up the housework. We boiled sap until about six o'clock. In the forenoon we finished up eight quarts of maple syrup. Jimmie went down to John's and they came up and brought up a battery and sawed up some rails. Then they went to Fort Edward. Johnnie chored around and helped gather sap. I mended some. It was a good day but got quite windy and cold toward night. It is awful muddy and the roads are bad.

April 2. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. Johnnie went to Fort Edward after Oliver and got some grain. Oliver and Gert. McKernon rode out to Argyle with Mr. James Mairs. Johnnie took Gert up home. They got home about noon. Helen came home with them because this is her birthday. It rained about all afternoon. Oliver helped do chores. Oliver is not feeling very good. We boiled sap in afternoon.

April 3. Sun. We did up the housework. We made ice cream. I finished up a couple of gallons of syrup. Johnnie went away in the forenoon and didn't get home until after dark. We stayed home all day. It was cloudy and the roads are bad. Oliver is feeling a little more rested today. He slept quite a bit of the day.

April 4. Mon. We did up the housework. I washed out Oliver's clothes and Busy and Marjory washed quite a number Oliver did not go to school because he didn't feel awful good and he helped saw wood. We got our wood all sawed before noon except some rails. Then they went up to McKernon's with the saw machine and sawed a while. Johnnie took Florence and Helen down to school this morning. Florence stayed to Marion's all night. We boiled sap all day. It was a good day but the roads are not very good. There is a number of soft holes up around there.

April 5. Tues. We did up the housework and baking. We boiled sap all day. Oliver rode down to school with Laurence. He stayed down to Marion's all night. Johnnie chored around. At noon he went to lower place and got a load of hay. Jimmie took John Liddle around on the mail route. It was a good day but the roads are bad. Jimmie didn't get home until Johnnie had chores all done. Earl is sick.

April 6. Wed. We did up the housework. We boiled sap all day. Jimmie went up to McKernon's and helped saw wood. He didn't get home until after dark. Johnnie went to lower place in forenoon with a load of manure. In the afternoon he went to Argyle with the Dodge after Oliver and Florence. He got stuck once in McDougall's yard. Earl is feeling a little better today but has laid around all day.

April 7. Thurs. We did up the housework and baking. We boiled say all day. We got all caught up tonight. Florence rode down with Laurence. Oliver got ready to go to school but thought he didn't feel like going so he went back to bed. He didn't get up again until about supper time. He stayed up about an hour but seems to have an awful sore spot in his bowels. At night Jimmie, Johnnie, Busy went to Argyle to a Gingham Ball. Florence went but she stayed to Marion's all night. They drove the Dodge and got stuck once going down and once coming home but got out alright. It was a good day. Johnnie drew a load of manure to lower place. Jimmie went and finished sawing McKernon's wood.

April 8. Fri. We did up the housework and Busy did the sweeping. We smoked some of the hams and bacon over again. Johnnie and Jimmie went to Liddle's and helped saw wood. But didn't get finished. Phil came up and helped Johnnie water the cows. Oliver was in bed all forenoon. He got up for dinner and walked over to the barn but when he came back he said he felt awful tired so went back to bed. I called Dr. Tillotson but he wasn't in but about five o'clock he called and said he would come right out. So he was he was out here by 5:30. He said the best thing to do was to get him to the Hospital as soon as possible because he had appendicitis. The Dr. made arrangements at the Hospital over the telephone. Johnnie came over and got ready. Johnnie and I took Oliver out to Glens Falls Hospital. They operated on him as soon as he got there. They didn't use ether they used a spinal injection which numbs the whole body. Johnnie came back and stayed at Marion's all night. I stayed at the Hospital with Oliver. We got stuck once going out but Dave Scally drawed us out. Jimmie went to Argyle in afternoon after Florence and groceries and grain and they didn't get home until about 11:00. Phil and Dave Scally and two boys did the milking. When Jimmie got home he finished up the chores. In the afternoon it began raining and it rained until about midnight. Hartwell came out and picked out six cows that he wanted. But didn't do any business as I had to go away. We started from home about 6 o'clock and they took Oliver to the operating room at 2:50 and brought him back at 8:30. He seemed to feel as good as before but the feeling had not come back to his legs but by 9:00 his legs were feeling alright.

April 9. Sat. Phil came up and helped Jimmie do chores. We did up the housework, baking, mopping. Jimmie and Phil went down to John's. He came back afternoon and John helped Jimmie do chores. Then they went to Argyle with Jimmie's car and got stuck coming home and didn't get home until after 10:00 . They did chores after that. Johnnie went out to see Oliver this afternoon. He seemed to be feeling pretty good. I stayed with him about all day. But I couldn't stay all night. I stayed up at Eva's and Jack's. It was a good day but the roads are awful muddy and bad. Johnnie played basket ball at night. In the forenoon Hartwell came out to Glens Falls and I made a trade with him and sold six cows and two calves for $325. To be taken Monday.

April 10. Sun. We did up the housework. Phil came up and helped do chores. In the forenoon we sugared off. About noon Liddle's came up. They stayed until about dark. In the afternoon Jimmie took Florence down to Marion's so she could go to school this week. And Johnnie came home with him. They left the Dodge at Argyle at Ed's. Jimmie drove King to Argyle. Marion went out to the Hospital with Laurence to see Oliver. Marion didn't think he looked very good and kind of talked funny. We didn't think he looked very good in afternoon but in the evening he looked better. They let him rinse out his mouth and he had a little soup for dinner. I didn't go down to the Hospital until about 2:00. I did not stay all night with him. It rained quite a lot of the day.

April 11. Mon. We did up the housework. We did not wash because it was rainy. Jimmie and Johnnie went down to John's and helped him get his Ford running in the forenoon. In the forenoon Eva called home and said that I had gone down to the Hospital because I had been talking with Dr. Baker and he said that he did not like the way Oliver acted this morning and that I wanted Johnnie to come out. I could get in the Hospital if I went down. In the afternoon Johnnie drove King down to Argyle then he took the Dodge and went out to Glens Falls to see Oliver. He stayed at Eva's all night. In the afternoon Jimmie and John L. took the six cows (Margaret, Big & Little Jersey, Bessie, Rose, Winnie) down to the foot of Mack's hill that Hartwell had bought. Johnnie took down a couple of calves in the wagon. Jimmie and John walked to Argyle after King. They stopped and did John's chores. Then they came up here and did chores. It rained quite a bit in the afternoon Johnnie called toward night and said that the Doctor said that Oliver was an awful sick boy. Earl is not feeling very good.

April 12. Tues. We did up the housework. Jimmie did chores. John came up. Ralph McGeoch came up and wanted John to take the mail up the road so Jimmie went with him in the Ford. They came back and had dinner then John rode King around by the Lake with the mail. Jimmie drove John's car home Jimmie brought King back about 4:30. He did some chores. I called home in the forenoon and said that Oliver wasn't very good. I didn't go down to the Hospital until about noon. Oliver had one of the nurses, Margaret McEachron call home to see if I wasn't coming to see him. So Marjory called me and Johnnie and I went right down. He said that he had been vomiting about every since I went away in morning. I talked with the Doctor in the forenoon and he said that Oliver was no worse. But about 2 o'clock he said he was very much afraid for him. About 5 o'clock I called home and told them if they wanted to see Oliver they had better come right away. So Busy and Jimmie went out and they stopped at Marion's for Florence. Floss kept Marion's kids and her and Ed went right out. Oliver knew them all. Nettie was at the Hospital in the afternoon to see Oliver. At night Harry's folks were all at the Hospital. Eva and Jack went out after Hazel about nine o'clock. About twelve o'clock Marjory and Laurence came out. But Oliver didn't know them. We had Margaret McCaughley to take care of him. I stayed with him all the while. Jack was there most of the time. Harry's folks went home about one o'clock. Marjory and Laurence and Florence went about 3:30. Florence was getting awful sleepy and tired. She stopped down at Marion's. The rest stayed all night and kept Earl and Lois while Marjory was gone. It snowed some at night. It was quite cold. Earl was not feeling very well today. Oliver breathed his last about five o'clock. Poor boy suffered something terrible. He was dying from 8 o'clock. Sometimes it was all four of us could do to keep him in bed. The Special nurse, the Supervisor, the Orderly and myself. About twelve o'clock we took him from the ward to the emergency room where we kept him until he breathed his last. Miss McCauley bathed him got him ready for Maurice Kilmer to bring him to Marion's.

April 13. Wed. Oliver lived until about five o'clock. Jack and I stayed with him until the end. The nurse called Maurice and he said he couldn't come for an hour. We went up to Jack's and had breakfast then went back to the Hospital. Then Maurice K. came. George came after Hazel, Marion, Ed and Jimmie came right home. About 5:00 Jack called home and said that Oliver had died. Jimmie and John and boys did chores. We did up the housework. Then Marjory got the children and their things ready and came to Argyle and stayed down to McWhorter's. Jimmie came down too. Jimmie came home and helped with the chores. The roads are bad so we could not come up home at all. They brought his body at Marion's. Johnnie, Busy and I came with the body. They brought down quite a number of things that we wanted. In the morning John McKernon, Mabel & Bill Curry were here. Laurence came up and took Lois' bed and high chair down. It was kind of a nasty day. After supper Jennie came up to Mother's. We had a lot of baking brought in and a number of visitors. The funeral is to be Friday at 2:00 by Mr. Hamilton. Garry and Tom Brayman dug the grave today. Floss was at Marion's nearly all day. Ed took Busy & I to the cemetery to see where the grave was to be dug.

April 14. Thurs. Jimmie and John did chores. Jimmie came down to Argyle and he stayed until about 5:00. Then he came back up and helped do chores. Johnnie went to Glens Falls with Ed and got a new hat. We had lots of callers. Kenneth, Lydia, Leona B. were over quite a while. Rev. Scott from Hebron came over. There were a number school girls came at noon but we told them to come after school because they were just dressing him and putting him in the casket. He looked awful nice with his new suit he got for his trip to Washington. But he had suffered so much he did not look quite like Oliver. Maurice had an electric light that hung from the back of the casket. It was grew lined with rose and made a nice appearance. There were a number of school children came after school. There was a number came in the evening. In the morning Maurice took Johnnie, Busy , Florence and I to his rooms to pick out a casket. We picked out a mahogany finished one with cream Satin lining.

April 15. Fri. Jimmie and John L. did chores. Then John brought Jimmie down to Argyle . He went to Fort Edward and got his hair cut. Ruth is not feeling very good and was in bed about all day. We got things straightened up and had dinner early so we could get the table out of the way. Oliver's funeral service was at 2:00 and it was a very large funeral. We went to the grave in Maurice's car. as ours was not in very good shape. Jimmie, Johnnie, Busy, Florence and I went together. Ed & Marion had J. Williams car and Marjory, Laurence & Jennie D. went with them. Hazel & George went alone. Mother thought she could not stand it to go. Rev. Hamilton had charge of the service but Mr. Heath the candidate for the U. P. church, had a part in the service. The Senior Class come to the service in a body at the house and the high School formed a line at each side of the walk to the grave and after the relatives had passed they marched to the grave. So we had to say Good-Bye to all that was left of our dear boy and laid him to rest beside Ruby. There was a lot from Hebron and some from Salem and Hartford. The boys of the Senior Class were the bearers.

April 16. Sat. Jimmie and John L. did chores. In the afternoon about 1:00. Johnnie and Busy and I went out to Fort Edward to see Dr. Tillotson's because Johnnie has got a pain in his side. But Dr. said it was just because he had been doing different and was all upset. Eddy is coughing quite a bit and Ruth feels better. Florence and Helen went down to see Earl and Lois in the forenoon. In the afternoon I went down to see them. Then I came back and went over to Mother's and saw Jennie. It rained good share of the day.

April 17. Sun. Jimmie and John did chores. Jimmie came to Argyle and we all went to church. Ed went too. In the afternoon Marion, Ed and Harold Hamilton took Jennie home down to Albany. They went and saw Dottie. She is feeling good and is growing. They got home about 6:30. In the afternoon Mother stayed with Eddy and Ruth and the rest of us went up to the cemetery and got the ribbons off from the flowers. Jimmie went back home to help do chores. At night Johnnie, Busy and Florence went to C. E. Marjory and children came up to Mother's during C. E. and I went over there. It was a good day.

April 18. Mon. Jimmie and John did chores. We helped Marion do her ironing and Busy helped hang up the clothes. It was a good forenoon but in the afternoon it clouded up. Ruth and Eddy have got the measles.

April 19. Tues. Jimmie and John did chores. In the morning Johnnie went down to McWhorters and got Marjory and Earl and them and Busy went up home and boiled down the old sap. They stayed until about 7:00. They got the old sap all boiled down. Johnnie helped do chores. Johnnie brought down a rooster for dinner tomorrow. Busy brought down her clothes so to stay down and help Marion. Eddy and Ruth are quite sick and are broken out a lot. Florence and Helen went to school. Jimmie is working on his car. It was an awful nice day, warm and the sunshone.

April 20. Wed. Jimmie and John did chores in the morning. Johnnie went up to Guy's and got the radiator fixed. Then he went out to Fort Edward after feed. About 4:30 Johnnie and I came back home again. Laurence brought Marjory and kids up in the forenoon and they went down to Liddle's until we came up. Jimmie has been working on his car but hasn't got finished yet. Just after we got home there was a couple of men came along from Watervleit and we sold a hundred bushel of potatoes at a dollar a bushel to go tomorrow. After the boys got chores done Johnnie went down to D. Scally's after Teddy. He was glad to get home . It has been an awful nice day.

April 21. Thurs. The boys did chores. We did up the housework. We boiled sap all day. We finished boiling sap today. The boys sorted potatoes in the forenoon. About 10:30 they came after a load of potatoes. They had to weigh them and sew up the bags. They took 105 bushel and we got $35.00. Jimmie rode down with them to John's and finished fixing his car and brought it home. It was a good day and warm. At night Jimmie went up to Clare's to see if they could get his grator and he said they could borrow it. Johnnie's side bothered him some today. At night he held a hot flatiron on it and it made him feel better.

April 22. Fri. The boys did the chores. In the morning John, Edna, Florence and Dorothy came up John helped the boys sort potatoes. They were here for dinner. They went home about 2:30. Then Jimmie and Johnnie went down to Charley Ketchum's and down to Orin Ketchem's look for a horse to work with King. When they came back they brought Busy and Florence home. Eddy and Ruth are feeling better. They got home about six o'clock. At night Liddle's came up and Edna seperated milk while John helped the boys sort potatoes. We stirred down maple sugar at night. It was a good day, warm.

April 23. Sat. The boys did chores. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. In the forenoon the potatoes men from Watervleit came and got a big load of potatoes They took 117 bushel for $39.00. It was Hugh Foley. The boys drew a couple loads of manure before the potato men got here. They had to sort a few more. Busy and Florence put away the bricks where we boiled sap. I washed the sap pan. Johnnie took out the spoils and brought up the dishes on the wagon and we washed them. I mended some in afternoon. At night Johnnie went away. Jimmie split some wood. We stirred down the last of the maple sugar tonight. It was a good day but got colder in afternoon. The wind blew awful hard.

April 24. Sun. We did up the housework. We were going to church but before church time, but Hazel, George and Minnie came down, so we did not go. They went home about 3:30. In the afternoon the boys went down to Orin Ketchum's and told him that they would take the horse that they looked at. So he is to bring it to South Argyle and we are to take a heifer down to South Argyle that we are going to trade for the horse. In the afternoon Marion called up and said that Alvin Stewart was going to preach again at night. He preached in the morning. So the boys got the chores done and we went down to church. Marjory and children went down to McWhorter's. It was a good day and not very cold. Busy, Florence, Earl went down after some kindling wood and Busy stepped on a nail.

April 25. Mon. The boys did chores. We did up the housework and a big washing. The clothes just about all got dry. The girls got the ironing all done but Marion's white table cloth and Jimmie's new white shirt. Jimmie drew manure and Johnnie sorted six bags of potatoes in forenoon. In the afternoon Jimmie took the heifer down to South Argyle and brought back the new horse. It is pretty lively. Johnnie took out a grist and I went to Argyle with him and I went up to Hamilton's and got some new glasses. We took the saddle and bridle down to South Argyle and Jimmie rode the horse home. About middle of afternoon it began to rain. It rained until about night. At night Liddle's came up and seperated milk and John helped sort a few bags of potatoes. Busy's foot is kind of sore.

April 26. Tues. The boys did chores. We did up the housework. I ironed the tablecloth and the shirt and did some baking. In the forenoon the potato men came after the last of our potatoes. They had to help sort quite a number so they were her for dinner. They took about 103 bushel for $34.45. After they went the boys drew two loads of manure with King and the new horse. It acted kind of fresh. It rained some and was cloudy all day. Busy's foot is quite sore she can't hardly step on it. At night I put on some brown sugar and brown sugar and it was better the next day.

April 27. Wed. We did up the housework and some baking. The boys drew a couple load of manure in the forenoon with the little team. In the afternoon they took Ned and Molly down and Johnnie plowed with them and left them down to lower place. And Jimmie drew a couple loads of manure. In the afternoon we went to Salem on business. At night Liddle's came up and seperated milk. They stayed until about nine. Johnnie went away at night. It was a funny day because we had several snow squalls. The wind blew hard and cold.

April 28. Thurs. We did up the housework. The boys drew manure and plowed down to the lower place. In the afternoon Busy went up to see Gert. McK. She has the measles. Busy stayed until after dark. It was a good day but quite cold.

April 29. Fri. We did up the housework. The boys drew manure and plowed with both team at lower place. In the afternoon we went to Argyle to the Bank and brought Florence home. Eddy and Ruth are feeling good but Raymond don't feel awful good. At night the boys split wood. Liddle's came up and seperated milk. It was a good day and quite warm. We took Mother down some wood in the Dodge.

April 30. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping, and baking. The boys drew manure and plowed with both team. They finished plowing at the lower place. In the afternoon we sowed some aster, tomatoes, Cabbage seeds. Busy and Florence put in some chunks and drew away the sawdust. It rained some at night. Johnnie went away at night. Jimmie, Busy and Florence went down to John's to get a tube to put in his new tire. It was an awful windy day. Laurence came up in morning and killed one of those black heifers for us for beef.

May 1. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. We went down to church. Rev. Golden from Cambridge preached. Marjory & children went down to McWhorter's and stayed until night. Busy stayed down to Marion's from church because Raymond has the measles. We went down at night. I stayed at Marion's and the girls and boys went to C. E. They voted to have C. E. at 7:30 Standard Time. It was a rainy day. It rained most of the day. They voted on a minister. They dropped Mr. Heath out entirely and voted for Alvin Stewart. But did not come to a dicision.

May 2. Mon. We did up the housework. Florence rode down to school with Laurence. She is going to stay down at Marion's. We washed out a few things. The boys started plowing in the field below the old orchard. I mended some in afternoon. Busy is at Marion's. Raymond isn't feeling very good and is broken out a lot. At night Jimmie and Johnnie went to Argyle to a Show they are having all week. Busy and Florence went. At night John L. came up and seperated milk. It was a good day but quite windy.

May 3. Tues. We did up the housework. The boys plowed all day with both team. I worked on Florence's dress about all forenoon. The milk Inspectors came in forenoon. In the afternoon we went to Argyle. We got a new Lee Tire on the Dodge. Busy and Florence came home. The boys went to School Meeting. Edmund Pollock is trustee; Howard Mahaffy is Collector; John Liddle is Clerk. Raymond is feeling some better. It was a good day.

May 4. Wed. We did up the housework. Busy and I cut up the two front quarters of beef and cooked quite a bit of it. But didn't put any in cans today. Florence rode down with Laurence. The boys plowed all day. Busy went down after Florence and did some errands. She did the mopping after she got home. At night Jimmie and Johnnie went down to the Show. It was a good day. Busy took Mother some chunks.

May 5. Thurs. We did up the housework. Busy and Earl took Florence down to school and she did some errands. When she got back we put cooked meat in 16 pint cans. And I filled seven pint cans with raw meat and cooked them in the afternoon. We finished cutting up the meat. Busy went down and met Florence coming from school. In the forenoon there were a couple of men here from the Metropolian Life Insurance Company. So I asked them about Oliver's Insurance but they said that there was not the least chance of getting anything on it. At night Liddle's came up and seperated milk. It was a good day. Jimmie finished plowing his land about middle of afternoon and he dragged the rest of afternoon. Johnnie finished the field about night.

May 6. Fri. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. Jimmie went down to John's to work today. Johnnie dragged with three horses. We sterlized 16 pint cans of meat in forenoon. We made ice cream as it is Johnnie's birthday. Kenneth & Stanley came up for dinner. It is Kenneth's birthday too. In the afternoon we went out to Fort Edward after Grass Seed and Feed. We brought Florence home from school. At night Liddle's came up and seperated milk. They went right home and John, Johnnie, Jimmie went down to the show. Then the rest of us went down to John's but we came home before they did. At night it rained awful hard. It was a good day.

May 7. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. We canned 5 quarts and 9 pints cans of meat and 7 pints of broth and sterilized them in afternoon. Jimmie drew manure and Johnnie chored around. It rained at different times all day. We made brine for the meat and put it in the barrel and put the brine on it about supper time.

May 8. Sun. We did up the housework. We got ready and went down to Argyle but didn't any of us go to church but Florence and girls went to Sunday School. Busy went to Albany with Ed and Floss to see Dot. Florence and I stayed down to Argyle all afternoon. Johnnie was at Marion's for dinner. I was at Mother's. Marjory and children were at McWhorter's. Jimmie was down to John's for dinner. When Johnnie came up in afternoon Jimmie came up with him from John's. Johnnie went away at night. Jimmie went down to C. E. Florence and Helen went to C. E. I came up with Marjory and Laurence. Busy, Floss and Ed got home about 9:00. Then Busy came home with Florence and Jimmie. It was a good day and the sunshone.

May 9. Mon. We did up the housework and a big washing. Florence rode down with Laurence. Jimmie drew a couple loads of manure in forenoon. Then he went down to Jack Cuthbert's and brought up his drill. He drilled after he had his dinner. He drilled until about dark. Johnnie chored around in forenoon. Johnnie took the oats down to the field. Then he began rolling.

We got the ironing all done and part of the mending. Busy went to meet Florence. At night Liddle's came up and seperated milk. It was a good day.

May 10. Tues. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence down to school. Jimmie finished drilling oats in field below the old orchard in forenoon. Johnnie rolled in forenoon. In the afternoon Johnnie fixed fence around the lane pasture. In the afternoon Jimmie took the little team and Molly and drill to the lower place and got John's drag and dragged until the new horse tired out. Busy and I went up to McKernon's. Rita has the measles. Florence rode home with them. At night we all went down to Liddle's. Florence went to 4H Club meeting at Hook Schoolhouse with Marion. John took them. We brought up their milk and seperated it. John brought Florence home and took his milk home. It was a good day.

May 11. Wed. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. Busy worked out doors all forenoon. We froze ice cream. In the morning Jimmie took the team down and finished dragging. In the middle of forenoon Johnnie took Jimmie's car and some oats to lower place and left them and he brought Molly back. In the afternoon Johnnie finished rolling the oats. Jimmie drilled to the lower place. Toward night we went down after Florence but we met her and Gert and Grace but we had to go to Argyle after gas. I told Mother we would be down tomorrow and help her clean her sitting room carpet. Liddle's came up at night and seperated milk. It was a good day.

May 12. Thurs. We did up the housework. Jimmie drew manure all day. Busy worked out of doors all forenoon. Johnnie set out the new apple and pear trees down in the orchard. In the afternoon we got ready and went to Argyle to help Mother clean her sitting room carpet but she had it about all done. We brought Florence home. Marjory stayed down and brought the kids home and kept them at night. Liddle's came up at night. It was a good day. The boys manured the garden.

May 13. Fri. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. Johnnie plowed the garden in forenoon. In the afternoon he chored around & Jimmie drew manure. Marion and children and Mother came up and brought Florence home. They stayed quite a while. Busy went home with them so to keep the children at night because Marion and Ed are going to a Surprise party for Mr. Mairs that the Senior Class are having. Eddy stayed up. It was a good day. Johnnie planted potatoes in the garden in afternoon. Last night we hear quite a noise but didn't know what it was. This morning when we got up the back end of the old cow stable had fallen down. Johnnie went away at night.

May 14. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. Johnnie burned brush up by the wood in forenoon. Jimmie drew manure in forenoon. Eddy went with him the second load and the wagon broke so they had to get John's wagon and take the manure over to the field. At noon we had a thunder shower. Johnnie and Jimmie, Marion and I went over to Will McNeil's funeral. He got killed riding a drill. The girls kept Marion's children and Liddle's kids were here. Eddy stayed all night. Busy came home with Marion.

May 15. Sun. We did up the housework. Jimmie washed his car. Then we got ready and went down to the cemetery and took Eddy home. Mother went with us up to Hazel's for dinner. Hazel has been sick but is feeling better now. Johnnie went down and brought Helen Clark up for supper then they went to C. E. as Johnnie is leader. Laurence came up after Marjory and children in forenoon. We all went down at night. Mother came back here for supper. It was a good day but the sun is hot.

May 16. Mon. We did up the housework and a big washing. It all got dry. Jimmie took the team down and got John's wagon and drew manure the rest of the day. Johnnie chored around. About 3:30 Busy, Marjory, Lois and Earl went down and got Florence and did a few errands. It was a good day but awful hot. It was hot all night. We got the ironing all done. We put in radish and Lettuce after supper.

May 17. Tues. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence down to school. Jimmie drew manure all day. Johnnie worked on the car some and chored around. I pressed some pants. Marjory and Earl went down to Shannon's corners and met Florence. At night we put in flowers and other things. Jimmie and Johnnie went looking for seed potatoes but didn't get any. Clayton B. came up at night awhile. It was a good day.

May 18. Wed. We did up the housework. Florence did not go to school. Florence, Busy and I went out to Glens Falls. They are having a sale. We got home about 2:00 and we went in morning. Jimmie drew manure in forenoon. In the afternoon Johnnie started dragging corn ground but it was so dry that it wasn't doing any good so he quit. We put up the garden fence in afternoon. Jimmie went down to John's awhile. Marjory went down to Dennis' to a W. C. T. U. meeting because I was one of the hostess'. At night Johnnie went away. Liddle's came up at night and John and Jimmie went up to Atkinson's and bought some potatoes for 25¢ just as they run. It was a good day.

May 19. Thurs. We did up the housework. Busy and Earl took Florence to school. Johnnie took both team to lower place and Jimmie drove his car down. They are going to plow the potatoe ground . Jerry is quite lame. Marjory and Earl went and met Florence down to the bottom of Mack's hill. It was a good day and quite warm.

May 20. Fri. We did up the housework. The boys plowed in the forenoon. In the afternoon they burned some brush. Then about 3:30 we went to Argyle and Johnnie went and played ball. We didn't get home very early. Jimmie was milking when we got home. At night Laurence Williamson came down. The boys went down to Argyle to a social. It was a good day.

May 21. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. The boys went to the lower place and plowed all day. We did some sewing in afternoon so Busy and Florence got the cows. We got some milk back so Busy, Florence, Earl went over and got it then we seperated 3 cans of milk. After supper we all went down to Argyle to Marion's awhile and carried water at the cemetery. It rained a little around noon but the rest of the day was good. It got cool at night.

May 22. Sun. We did up the housework. Jimmie went down to the lower place and tended to the horses. We all got ready and went to church except Marjory and children. They stayed at Marion's and went down to McWhorter's in afternoon. Johnnie went away in afternoon and brought Helen C. and helped do the chores. Then he took her home. In the afternoon Lill, Ralph, Richard Y. came up awhile. After they went we went down to John's and saw the colt and stopped at lower place. Helen McE. came home from church with us. We went down at night. It was a good day.

May 23. Mon. We did up the housework and washing. The clothes all got dry and we got the ironing all done. I did a churning in afternoon. Busy and Earl went to meet Florence and met her over by Blanche's upper place. The boys plowed at the lower place. It was a good day and warm. At night Laurence brought up two little pigs from F. Donaldson's at $3 a piece. At night Jimmie & Johnnie took both cars and went up after potatoes. Florence rode down with Laurence.

May 24. Tues. We did up the housework, baking,. Florence went down with Laurence. The boys went down to the lower place and plowed in forenoon. In afternoon Jimmie plowed with King and Molly. Johnnie put the shock absorbers together. He took them to Argyle to get fixed when they went after Florence. They carried water at cemetery. At night the boys took both cars and went up after potatoes. Busy, Marjory, Earl, Johnnie went after Florence. It was a good day. They took Mother down some wood.

May 25. Wed. We did up the housework. Busy and Earl took Florence down to school and I went down to Marion's so as to go up to Hazel's this afternoon. Marion, Ray, Mother and I went up to Hazel's. We got back about time school was out. Johnnie chored around in forenoon and fixed fence around the orchard. After dinner Liddle's came up and Johnnie helped John fix his car. Busy, Earl, Lois and Marjory came down after us. Edna and kids rode down with them. At night Johnnie went away. Jimmie went up and got a load of potatoes. It was a good day. Jimmie went to lower place about middle of afternoon and plowed. At night the girls worked in the garden and planted the cucumbers.

May 26. Thurs. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. Jimmie went to lower place and plowed. In the forenoon Johnnie took the Dodge to Argyle and Guy B. fixed it. He stayed down and brought Florence home from school. We froze ice cream. Helen called this morning and said that Collins's store burned last night. After school a couple men came and got some second potatoes. At night Marjory and Earl went down to McWhorter's to a party. At night Johnnie went down to Henry Moore's and got the fenders straightened and Florence went with him. The rest of us went down to Marion's and went down and saw where the fire was. It was a good day.

May 27. Fri. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. Jimmie went down and dragged awhile then Johnnie did. About 11:00 Jimmie came up and he and Edna and John were going to Albany. They brought Dorothy up and we kept her and after school the other girls came up here. We took down the sitting room stove. In the afternoon we had a hard thunder shower. Johnnie was down dragging when it began raining. Johnnie had about all done when Jimmie got home. He went down and fed horses.

May 28. Sat. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to lower place and dragged. In the morning we went to Argyle and set out some pansy plants on Oliver's grave. Marion brought up some flowers and we set them out. Johnnie went down to Porter's and washed the car. We got some stuff to polish the car and Johnnie and Busy started it before dinner. Then they finished it after dinner and painted the fenders and wheels. It looks good. It was a good day but quite cool at night.

May 29. Sun. We did up the housework. The car wasn't dry so they run it out in the sun. It didn't get dry until afternoon. Jimmie took me to Argyle so that I could go to Albany with Ed, Marion, Ruth, Eddy and Mother. Jimmie brought Helen and Ray up here. They had dinner then they and Busy and Florence went to Argyle and kept them at Marion's until night. Marjory and children went down to McWhorter's. Johnnie went down and took Clark's over to Salem cemetery. He and Jimmie did chores. Helen C. came up and stayed with Busy and Florence at Marion's then they went to C. E. Jimmie didn't go down at night. Laurence had to help Maurice K. so Marjory and children went with us down to Clark's and Helen came up and stayed all night. It was a good day. We saw Jennie and Dot.

May 30. Mon. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to lower place and finished dragging and brought all the horses up. Johnnie took him down. I did some baking. Then we went down to the cemetery and we set out some more pansy plants on Oliver's grave and put flowers on other graves. Marjory and children went down to McWhorter's in forenoon. We came back home and had dinner then we went back down to the exercises in the hall and the rest went to the ball games. We came home and the boys did chores and Johnnie took Helen home. Marjory and Laurence and children came home about 9:00. It was a good day.

May 31. Tues. We did up the housework. Busy and Earl took Florence to school and got some groceries. Today is Minnie's birthday and we looked for Hazel down but she didn't come. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie dragged. Marjory went down after Florence. It was a good day. We made some ice cream.

June 1. Wed. We did up the housework and did the washing. The clothes all got dry and we did some of the ironing. Busy mopped the floor. In afternoon Busy and I went to Fort Edward to get a grist ground and a few other things. Busy got her hair cut. I talked with Harry S. a while. Johnnie dragged. Jimmie went to John's. It was a good day.

June 2. Thurs. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie finished dragging the corn ground. We all took Florence to school and we stopped at cemetery when we came back. I did baking and girls did ironing. In the forenoon Mr. Griffin from Hudson Falls came here. I washed part of Florence's red dress and took out the sleeves. Florence stayed down until night. When Jimmie came home he had the corn planter. We got ready and went to Argyle. I kept Earl and Lois at Marion's. The rest went down to the church to a rally. Mack Shaw was there and they made plans to go to Silver Bay. Johnnie and Busy went down after Helen C.

June 3. Fri. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. Jimmie marked out and Johnnie planted corn in forenoon. We had a thunder shower in afternoon. Jimmie and Johnnie went down after Florence. Jimmie got his tire fixed. At night Jimmie went down to John L's to take some milk to get tested.

June 4. Sat. We did up the housework. We made bread and buns. Jimmie went to the lower place and finished plowing. He took Molly and King down to the lower place this morning and took Ned down at noon. Johnnie used Ned and finished marking out the corn ground in the forenoon. Then he took Jerry and planted corn for about an hour and a half in forenoon and planted all afternoon. Jimmie dragged to the lower place in afternoon. Florence went out to the Fort Edward High School to a 4H Club Rally with Fred Darfler. He took a load out and Busy went after them. She went on to Hudson Falls and got her wrist watch and took Johnnie's to get fixed. At night Jimmie and Johnnie went out to the circus at Glens Falls. It was a good day.

June 5. Sun. We did up the housework. We all went to church except Marjory, children and Jimmie. Jimmie went away with John Liddle. Marjory stayed home all day because Lois is sick. Ruth came home from church with us. About one o'clock Hazel, George, Minnie came down. They stayed until about 4:30. Johnnie went away in afternoon and brought Helen C. up for supper. About chore time Marion & Ed and kids came along. In the afternoon Mr. Jones, Insurance man, made a short call. Edna and kids were here awhile with Jimmie's car. Jimmie got back in time to help do chores. At night Busy, Florence, Jimmie, Johnnie and Helen C. went to C. E. They stopped and took Helen Mac C. to C. E. with them. Ruth rode down home with them. It was a good day except a little shower in afternoon.

June 6. Mon. We did up the housework and a washing. The clothes all got dry and we got the ironing all done. The boys cut potatoes in forenoon. Jimmie went to lower place and dragged in afternoon. Johnnie finished planting the corn with Jerry. Busy and him went looking for the turkey's nest but didn't find it. Then Busy and Earl went and met Florence. It was a good day. Lois isn't feeling very good.

June 7. Tues. We did up the housework. Johnnie went to the lower place and dragged. Just before noon Jimmie took Jerry down to the lower place. Busy went down after them for dinner. We cut potatoes in the forenoon. Laurence came up for dinner then they took Lois out to a Fort Edward Doctor. Busy and I went to West Hebron to Mrs. George Roger's funeral. Laurence and Marjory waited until school was out and brought Florence home. Johnnie rode Jerry up and Jimmie rode King up at night. It was a good day but was windy and cold. We cut potatoes at night.

June 8. Wed. We did up the housework. The boys took some potatoes to the lower place with the team and big wagon. Busy and Earl took Florence to school. Jimmie came back up and went up to Clayton's and got his coverer in the back end of his car. Busy and I cut potatoes in forenoon and some in afternoon. Lois isn't feeling much better. A man came and got some seed potatoes. John L. helped the boys drop potatoes. Edna went and met Florence with Jimmie's car. And she came up with the boys when they came from work. It was a good day but windy and cold.

June 9. Thurs. We did up the housework. The boys went to the lower place and finished them. We made ice cream. I baked some in the forenoon. Johnnie put the radiator on the car at noon but it still leakes. So they drove it to the lower place. Florence stayed down to Marion's for supper. At night Johnnie and I went down to Argyle to a cemetary meeting at the Garange Hall. Florence came home with us. Jimmie and Busy cut potatoes in the evening. It was a good day but windy. We cut some potatoes in forenoon.

June 10. Fri. We did up the housework. Jimmie dragged his potatoe ground over a couple of times. And marked out some of it. Johnnie chored around. In the afternoon a couple of Insurance men came and stayed quite a while. Then we went down after Florence. Johnnie went down he was going to play ball but didn't anybody play. At night Jimmie went up after potatoes. Johnnie planted sweet corn, pop corn, and pumpkin seeds in forenoon. It was a good day.

June 11. Sat. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to lower place and finished marking out his potatoe ground. About middle of forenoon on Johnnie took the Dodge to lower place and took a load of cut seed down. They they dropped and covered potatoes. They got through about 4:00. Busy and I cut some potatoes in forenoon. We did mopping and baking. I churned in afternoon. John helped the boys. In the afternoon we went down to lower place and the girls went in swimming. At night we went to Argyle. Johnnie went away. It was a good day. I fixed the kids tent at night.

June 12. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys went down to lower place and put in the horses in morning. When they got back we got ready and went down to church. It was children's Day and Robert Mahaffy preached. After church Laurence came up after Marjory and children. They stayed down until night. Helen and Eddy came home from church with us. We went down to Liddle's in afternoon. Johnnie went to Greenwich looking for a radiator but didn't get one. We went down to Argyle at night and young folks went to C. E. It was a good day.

June 13. Mon. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. We did the washing. The clothes all got dry. We got the ironing all done. It began raining in afternoon. Busy and I went down after Florence. At noon Johnnie went up to Morgan's and get his hair cut. In the forenoon Jimmie took out some potatoes and sold them. He drew a load of manure in afternoon. At night Busy took Florence, Marion L. and Gert McK. up to Belcher to a 4H club meeting to a Hot Dog Roast. Liddle's brought Marion and Kenneth up and they stayed awhile.

June 14. Tues. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. In the forenoon Johnnie and Jimmie went to Argyle. Jimmie came home about 2:00. Johnnie stayed down until Busy went down after Florence after school. At night Busy, Florence, Jimmie, Johnnie went down to Rollin McGeoch's to a church social. It was a rainy day. Jimmie drew a load of manure in afternoon.

June 15. Wed. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. I fixed a box and transplanted some cabbage and tomatoe plants. Busy sowed some radishes. Jimmie drew manure. Johnnie took Molly down and helped the men draw down some logs down in Griffin's woods. At night Jimmie went up after potatoes. The rest of us went to Argyle. Busy and I went to the Congregational Meeting down to the church about the new minister.

June 16. Thurs. We did up the housework. Johnnie helped draw out logs in forenoon and Jimmie helped in afternoon. In the forenoon we went down to Salem to see the Surragate. After we got home we froze ice cream. In the afternoon Fred Bennett and wife came after seed potatoes. Then we cut up pie plant and poured hot over it and after supper Busy and I canned 11 quarts. After supper Johnnie went away and Marjory and Busy rode down to Argyle with him. Then they went with Laurence up to Pendergrass to a Farewell party for Prof and Jean Farhenholz. Florence and I kept Earl and Lois. Marion Liddle stayed here while her folks went up to J. Foster's. Jimmie went down to John's awhile after supper. It was a good day.

June 17. Fri. We did up the housework. Busy did baking. Jimmie drew manure in forenoon. Johnnie chored around. About noon we got ready and went down to Liddle's to the District School picnic. After we had dinner, Busy, Marjory and children and I went to Argyle. I went to the Bank to see Mr. Waite, the Lawyer. Then I went down to Marion's and Mother's until Florence got out of school. We stopped at cemetery and watered the flowers. It rained before we got home and a little after we got here. At night Jimmie went away. Jimmie and Johnnie stayed down to John's all afternoon.

June 18. Sat. We did up the housework, baking, mopping. In the forenoon Busy and Florence went berrying over in the cow pasture. We froze ice cream. In the morning we seperated three cans of milk that we got back. Jimmie drew manure all day. In afternoon Johnnie sorted some potatoes. At night Johnnie went away and brought Helen C. and she stayed all night. It was a good day. Jimmie and Busy and Florence went down and brought up Pie Face and her calf about dark.

June 19. Sun. We did up the housework, froze ice cream and got other things ready for dinner and we all, Laurence, Helen C. and the Liddle family went up to Comstocks to go through the prison. There couldn't only six go. Busy, Edna, Florence, Marion, and Kenneth and Stanley went in about one o'clock. Then we went and had our dinner. About four o'clock we started for home. We came down and stopped at Hazel's awhile. Marion L. went with us and her folks weren't home when we got back so she came up here and went down with them when they went to C. E. Jimmie, Johnnie, Busy, Florence and Helen C. went to C. E. It was a good day and quite warm.

June 20. Mon. We did up the housework, and a washing. The clothes all got dry and we got the ironing all done. Jimmie went out with a load of potatoes. Florence rode down with Jimmie because she had to try Algebra examination this forenoon. Johnnie drew manure all day. In the afternoon Jimmie took potatoes out to Fort Edward for John so Florence came up with him. They did not get home until after supper because Jimmie helped John plant potatoes. It was a good day.

June 21. Tues. We did up the housework. Busy and Florence went berrying over in cow pasture. Marjory and children and I went down to Stout's and got 10 quarts of strawberries at 10¢ a quart. Then we drove down to North Argyle store and got some sugar. In the afternoon we canned 9½ quarts of strawberries. Jimmie worked at John's all day. Johnnie mowed the old hay in field where they are going to plow for corn. About 4:30 Johnnie went to Argyle and went to Fort Miller with Ed to play ball. John L. came up and helped Jimmie do chores. At night we had a thunder shower.

June 22. Wed. We did up the housework. The boys plowed down to the lower place for corn. They plowed all day. Florence had to go down to school to try History Exam. Busy and I took her down. We went out to Fort Edward with a grist. Eddy and Ray rode out with us. We waited until Florence got through with her exam. In the afternoon we set out some flowers. It was a good day. Jimmie helped John draw out manure in afternoon and didn't get home until bed-time. Johnnie went to Argyle to play ball.

June 23. Thurs. We did up the housework. Busy and Florence worked out of doors all forenoon. The boys finished plowing that field. I fixed Florence red dress over. In the afternoon Busy and Florence went to Argyle because Florence had to try Civics. After they got home they set out some more flowers and tomatoe plants. The girls got the cows and it was raining awful hard. It was quite cool and windy.

June 24. Fri. We did up the housework. The boys dragged and got the corn all planted today. Jimmie came up and had dinner then he went down and planted while Johnnie came up and had his dinner. I got Florence dress all finished. In the afternoon we went to Argyle because I had to see Mr. Waite at the Bank. We were at Mother's awhile. Florence found out that she didn't get her Civics nor her Algebra. It was a good day but quite cool. At night Jimmie and Johnnie went away.

June 25. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. In the morning Busy took Florence down to the school house so she could get a way to go down to Saratoga Lake to the High School picnic. It rained about all day down at the Lake. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie chored around in forenoon. In the afternoon Johnnie went to Argyle then he went to Shushan and played ball. Florence went to the ball game with Mr. Gallup's from the Lake. Florence came home from Argyle with Johnnie.

June 26. Sun. We did up the housework. We did not go to church. Johnnie took the Dodge in the forenoon and went down to Clark's. He brought Helen up in the afternoon. In the afternoon Busy, Florence, Jimmie went down to the lower place and went in the water. At night we went down to Argyle to C. E. and then to Baccalaureatte Service. Marjory and children went down to Liddle's and stayed until Laurence came up. Jimmie took Jim Scally up to Granville then he came to Argyle and Johnnie took his car and took Helen home and Jimmie came home with us. It was a good day but quite warm.

June 27. Mon. We did up the housework. We did not do the washing because it was rainy. Busy washed the wood work up in her room. and tore off a little plaster and plastered it. Florence plastered a little in the pantry cupboard. The boys sorted some potatoes in the afternoon. Jimmie took out some potatoes and sold them in the forenoon. Jimmie made a gate for the garden. It was a rainy day.

June 28. Tues. We did up the housework. We did the washing. The clothes all got dry and we got the ironing all done. In the forenoon the boys plowed a little piece of ground beside of Jimmies' potatoes and planted it to beans in afternoon. In the afternoon Busy and Florence went down to McAuley place and picked berries. At night we all went down to Argyle to Commencement Exercises at U. P. Church. Earl and Lois stayed at Liddle's at night.

June 29. Wed. We did up the housework. The boys cultivated and covered part of the potatoes. We did some baking. In the afternoon Marjory and I went to a Women's Missionary Convention at Argyle U. P. Church. Busy and Florence kept Earl and Lois in the car. They went up to the cemetery and cut the grass around the pansies. After the convention was over we went up to Jim Mairs and looked over his Rock Garden. He wasn't there but Mrs. Mairs give us some lovely flowers. In the forenoon Mrs. Hamilton called and said that she had a bouquet for me. Each one of the Seniors took out a flower out of their bouquet and wanted them put on Oliver's grave. After the convention was over we drove up to Hamilton's and got the flowers. They were yellow Roses. I left one with Mother so to see if she could get it to root. We took the rest up to the cemetery and put them on Oliver's grave.

June 30. Thurs. We did up the housework. The boys finished cultivating and covering the potatoes in the forenoon. Johnnie brought the little team up at noon. Jimmie took Nichol's coverer back in his car. In the afternoon we cleaned out part of the cellar. They drew the old potatoes down in the swamp. But didn't get finished because we were using John's wagon and the fellow down on McEachron place came up and got it. Johnnie went away at night. John's car was broke so he took Jimmie's car on around with the mail. They came up at night and he fixed his car. After supper Busy and Jimmie picked some cherries. It was a good day but awful windy.

July 1. Fri. We did up the housework. The boys cultivated corn in forenoon. We got stuff ready to take and Busy, Florence Marjory and children went over to the Church picnic. It was to be at the Oaks but it rained so they went over to the Billaken. I went down and stayed at Marion's all day because Ray wasn't feeling very good. The girls were to come back from the picnic after me but they went up home. About six o'clock we had an awful hard thunder shower and it rained awful hard. After the boys got the chores done Johnnie, Florence, Marjory and children went down to Argyle after me. Johnnie went somewhere else so we came home with Laurence. Busy went away. Jimmie went over to Fish and Game Club Dance. Johnnie and Jimmie were at Argyle in afternoon. It stopped raining about one o'clock.

July 2. Sat. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to John's. Then the rest of us got ready and went out to Hudson Falls and did some trading. Johnnie got his white hat and pants and got his watch. Florence had to have some cloth to make a slip with for the 4H Club meeting this afternoon. John L. took Florence, Teressa D. and Marion over to Nichols to the 4H Club meeting. And Busy went after them. In the afternoon the boys fixed fence around the orchard. We did the baking and mopping in the afternoon. At night we went down to the Billaken to the McIntrye picnic. We all went except Jimmie. It was a good day.

July 3. Sun. We did up the housework. We all got ready and went to church except Marjory and Lois. They stayed down until night. We went for a ride in the afternoon. Johnnie went away in afternoon. At night the young folks went to C. E. and I went at Marion's and Mother's. It was a good day.

July 4. Mon. We did up the housework. I canned a few cherries. Johnnie went away in forenoon and didn't get back until in the night. It rained hard all day but let up at night. After supper we went to Argyle to Marion's. Busy went away at night. It was a nice night and not very cold.

July 5. Tues. We did up the housework and the washing. The clothes all got dry and we got the ironing all done. In the forenoon Jimmie went down to Argyle and got the wagon wheel and some things for the mowing machine. Then he took the team and went to lower place and brought up the double wagon and mowing machine. In the afternoon Jimmie took Clare's Grator home and McKernon's Scales home. Then they drew out another load of potatoes out of the cellar. It was a good day. Jimmie mowed down to lower place. After supper the boys mowed down on the side hill until about dark. Liddle's came up at night.

July 6. Wed. We did up the housework. In the morning Johnnie mowed down across from the woods. Jimmie took the little team and went to lower place and cultivated his potatoes. Busy went down after him for dinner. He came up about middle of afternoon and cultivated corn. Johnnie mowed all afternoon. In the afternoon we went to lower place and the girls went in swimming. After supper Jimmie cultivated some more corn. Johnnie went away at night. It was a good day.

July 7. Thurs. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie mowed the side hill. He raked the hay down to the lower house after dinner. Toward night they drew it in. Marion and children came up for dinner and stayed until about supper time. In the afternoon we went to lower place and the children went in the water. At night about supper time we had a thunder shower and a number of showers in the night. It was a good day. After supper Marion called and said that Jennie was at Mother's.

July 8. Fri. We did up the housework. Jimmie went down to John's. In the forenoon we went down to Argyle to see Aunt Jen. Johnnie took out a grist in the forenoon. At night Johnnie went away Jimmie and Busy went over to the Fish and Game to a Dance. At night Hazel and Minnie came down and are going to stay. George and Bill brought them down. It rained some in forenoon. In the afternoon Johnnie went down to John's and they sawed Grandma's wood.

July 9. Sat. We did up the housework, baking, mopping. The boys raked and drew in some hay. In the afternoon we had a hard thunder shower. Jimmie took John home and stayed until supper time. Johnnie got the cows. After supper Johnnie, Jimmie and Busy went away. After they went Hazel, Minnie, Florence and I went for a ride in the Dodge. We stopped at Aunt Emma's and at Clayton's awhile.

July 10. Sun. We did up the housework. We all got ready and went to church. Jimmie, Earl and I were going in Jimmie's car but we met George and Bill down by the other barn so we rode down to church with them. I came home with Hazel, George, Minnie, Bill. The rest stayed until Sunday School was over. Marjory and children stayed down until night. George's folks stayed until about four o'clock. It was a good day and the sun was hot. At night we went to the Methodist church to the Children's Day proforance. Marion and kids went too.

July 11. Mon. We did up the housework. We did the washing and got the ironing all done. Johnnie mowed up above the orchard in forenoon. Jimmie went down to John's in forenoon. They both came up and they drew in hay in afternoon. The boys and Busy and Florence went to Argyle to a base ball game.

July 12. Tues. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to John's in forenoon. Johnnie mowed up on top of the hill in forenoon. Busy and Florence went and picked some Raspberries. Jimmie and John came up in afternoon and helped draw in hay. It was a good day. At night we all except Jimmie and Johnnie went to Argyle. Busy and I went and took Marion L. and Florence over to the Ridge School house to a 4H Club meeting. Marjory and children came up with Laurence. We got quite a bit of wood piled today. Florence is starting to make a new dress.

July 13. Wed. We did up the housework. Johnnie mowed. Jimmie cultivated corn with Ned. Busy and Florence went to lower place and picked berries and waited until the mail man came as I had ordered some Junket tablets so we could have ice cream. After they got back they froze ice cream. John came up in the afternoon and they drew in hay. We threw in quite a bit of wood. It looked like rain and did rain some at night. We all went to Argyle as Johnnie played ball. It was a good day.

July 14. Thurs. We did up the housework. Johnnie mowed the orchard today. Jimmie went to John's in forenoon but they both came up in afternoon and helped draw in hay. In the forenoon Busy and Florence went up on the hill and got some berries so I done up a few cans. In the afternoon we went to Glens Falls except the boys and Marjory and children. Marion, Ray and Mother went with us. We got home about 6:30 o'clock. The girls helped milk. After they got chores done Johnnie went away. Jimmie went down to John's after supper and Busy went away. It was a good day.

July 15. Fri. We did up the housework. Jimmie used John's Ned and Johnnie took King down and they cultivated the potatoes. Then Johnnie brought King home. In the afternoon John came up and they raked and drew in the hay out of the orchard. In the afternoon the three girls went to lower place and picked berries. I baked some and the girls got the wood at piled that was in the wood shed. At night we went to Argyle. Johnnie played ball. After the ball game they went up to Pendergrasse's filling Station to the C. E. picnic. I kept Lois at Marion's and Marjory took Earl. It was a good day but got quite cool at night.

July 16. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. I finished Florence's dress so she could wear it this afternoon. After dinner Edna came up and she took Florence and Marion up to McKernon's to the 4H Club meeting. We went to the lower place and picked some Raspberries and we canned them after we got back. Busy finished throwing in the wood after supper. Johnnie, Jimmie and Busy went away. Johnnie played ball. It was a good day. Florence and Marion walked down here then Marion rode down with Johnnie. The boys worked at John's all day but came home for dinner. They took little team down.

July 17. Sun. We did up the housework. The young cattle were out so the boys went and put them back in. We got our dinner ready and we went to Saratoga to see Little Dottie. Laurence came up after Marjory and children. About noon we had a thunder shower. We had one in afternoon and one at night. but didn't rain much. We got home about 6 o'clock. The girls helped milk. Then they went over to the Lake on a picnic.

July 18. Mon. We did up the housework. We did the washing but the engine wouldn't run very good We didn't get the ironing all done. In the afternoon I had to go down to the Bank on business. The boys were at John's all day and stayed for dinner and supper. The girls got the cows. After they got chores done Johnnie and Jimmie went down to Clayton's and got the coverer. After supper Viola Scally and another woman came up here to telephone. They stayed quite a few minutes. It was a good day.

July 19. Tues. We did up the housework. Busy and Florence went to lower place and picked berries in forenoon and went up on the hill in the afternoon after berries. The boys were at John's all day. Johnnie took the big team down to lower place this morning. Just before noon awhile Jim McCellan and another Insurance man came and left a new policy and a check for Marjory's Insurance. It was a good day. At night Florence went down to South Argyle to visit Beverly Moore for a few days. Busy and I took her as far as Argyle. Marjory and Earl went down to McWhorter's. We brought Lois home with us. I made some jams about supper time.

July 20. Wed. We did up the housework. The boys went to John's and helped with the haying all day. Busy varnished the woodwork in her room. She did most of it in forenoon but finished it after dinner. I made some jam and Jelly. In the forenoon Marjory and Earl went to Argyle to the Bank and did other errands. In the afternoon Marion and children came up to lower place and picked Raspberries and came up here awhile. Busy and Marjory went down and helped pick berries. It was a good day. The boys went away at night.

July 21. Thurs. We did up the housework. The boys went down to John's and helped with they haying all day. In the forenoon we went over to Salem Bank on business. When we came back we stopped and saw Agnes & Frances Williamson and the Smart's and Mattie. In the afternoon we baked some and Busy swept and I sewed some. Before we had dinner John's folks and Jimmie and Johnnie came up in a new car that John has got trying out. It was a good day but awful hot. About middle of the afternoon Johnnie brought up the little team and mowing machine and mowed over behind the barn until Jerry tired out.

July 22. Sat. We did up the housework and did some baking. We got dinner ready to leave for the boys but it rained so they went away. I went down to Mother's while the girls went up to the Methodist church to the Daily Vacation Bible School picnic. Johnnie was at Mother's for dinner and went up street the rest of the afternoon. We went down to Moore's and got Florence. We came home from Argyle about five o'clock. Jimmie went with John out to Glens Falls and brought his car home. We didn't get home until after dark then he went away again. Johnnie, Busy and Florence went down to the Oaks to the Grange Picnic. It was rainy in forenoon but was cloudy all afternoon.

July 23. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. The boys went to the lower place and cultivated & shoveled plowed in the forenoon. In the forenoon Ed brought Ruth and Raymond up here to stay while he and Marion went to Hedges to the Masonic picnic. Eddy stayed at Garry's and Helen at Lill's. Mrs. Safford and Lill came up and picked berries so the rest of the kids rode up with Ed and the women rode down with Ed. Busy and Florence went berrying up on the hill. Johnnie raked over behind the barn and they drew it all in. John came up and helped them. At night Edna & kids came up after John. At night we went to Argyle and took Ray and Ruth home and we stayed until Marion and Ed got home. The boys went to Argyle too. It was a good day but quite hot.

July 24. Sun. We did up the housework. Jimmie washed his car then he went to Argyle. We got ready and we all went to church except I kept Lois at Marion's. Marion and the girls went to church and I kept Ray too. Johnnie and Ed went down to Curry's and played ball. We had our dinner with us and Marion put their's up and we went up toward North Argyle and eat our lunch. Marion and children went up to hazel's. We went down and got Helen Clark then we went down tot he all game. Marjory and children went down to McWhorter's. At night we went down to the church to preaching Service. Mr. Anderson preached. Johnnie took Helen home so we came home with Laurence. Jimmie went away at night. In the afternoon when we got home Nettie and the boys were over awhile. It was a good day.

July 25. Mon. We did up the housework and a washing. The clothes all got dry but we didn't get the ironing quite all done. Johnnie mowed out behind barn in forenoon and afternoon. Jimmie went to lower place and worked. After dinner Busy took Florence down to Edna's and she took Marion and Florence over to Huggins to a 4H Club meeting. Busy and I went over to Mrs. Grant Chamberlain's funeral in afternoon. Kenneth brought up Dolly and Molly and calf. Jimmie and John came up. After supper we got ready and went after Florence and Marion over at Huggins but we met John folks with them but they went with us down to Argyle to the Methodist church to the Bible School Commencement. It was good. The boys stayed home. It was a good day. Eddy came home with us at night.

July 26. Tues. We did up the housework. Busy finished the ironing. Johnnie mowed out in the field across from the barn. In the afternoon they raked the hay out behind the barn and drew it in. In the afternoon Marion and children came up and picked berries and then came up awhile. Busy and Marjory went down and picked some. Florence rode down with Laurence in the morning because they were supposed to go to the hall to help decorate for the play. So she came up with Marion. At night Busy went over to W. McDougall's and throwed rolling pin so Florence, Eddy and I went too. Nettie brought Harold over there and he came home with us. After the boys got chores done they raked and drew in a load of hay and mowed a little. It was a good day and hot.

July 27. Wed. We did up the housework. The boys played ball awhile. Then Jimmie went down to Randles to get the horse fork rope spliced but he couldn't do it so he got Marshal McGeoch to do it. In the forenoon Thompson the Vetenery came and tested the cows and he is coming back Saturday. Florence and Busy went to lower place and picked berries. In the afternoon the boys went down to lower place and shovel plowed potatoes. We made ice cream to take down to the church but we had a thunder shower and didn't anybody go down so we eat the ice cream. Johnnie was going to play ball but it rained and he didn't go.

July 28. Thurs. We did up the housework. The boys and Busy and Florence played ball awhile. Then the boys went to lower place and went in the water. It was cloudy in morning but before noon the sunshone and they raked and drew in the rest of the hay in that field. Johnnie finished mowing this out here in forenoon. In the afternoon he went up on the hill and mowed. John came up in afternoon. At night we all went to Argyle to a 4H Club play named 'Headstrong Joanne'. Marion Liddle went with us. It was a good day. Eddy went down home and stayed.

July 29. Fri. We did up housework. The boys chored around in the forenoon. In the afternoon Jimmie and Harold went out to Fort Edward and got a grist ground. Johnnie mowed some in the afternoon but it rained so he stopped. At night Johnnie went away. Jimmie and Harold went over to the Fish and Game Club Dance. It rained part of the forenoon.

July 30. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. In the forenoon Jimmie went down to the lower place. Johnnie and Harold got the cows and young cattle in the barn because the cow tester was coming back to read them. The cows were all alright and young cattle too. But he didn't come until after noon. Jimmie and Johnnie worked on Jimmie's car awhile. Florence went to the 4H Club picnic at Hedges Lake with Gert McK. & Ed. Pollock. The boys drew in some hay in the afternoon. Florence got home about supper time. After supper Busy went away. Jimmie took Harold out to Hudson Falls so he could go home with his folks. Florence and I kept Lois at Argyle while Marjory, Laurence and Earl went out to Fort Edward. It was a good day.

July 31. Sun. We did up the housework. We all got ready and went to church except Johnnie. He went down to Clark's. Marjory and children went to church. Rev. Mr. H. King preached his first sermon here today. Marjory and children stayed down until night. We did not go away anywhere in the afternoon. At night the young folks went to C. E. I was at Marion's and Mother's. It was a good day. Marion, Ed and kids and Mrs. Hall went down to see Dottie at Saratoga. She was sick at her stomach and didn't want to talk much.

Aug. 1. Mon. We did up the housework, and the washing. The clothes all got dry but we got the ironing done. Earl is not feeling very good today. The boys worked with the hay. After dinner Edna took Florence and Marion over to Bristols to a girls 4H Club meeting. After dinner Marion called and said that the nurse from Saratoga called her and said that Dottie wasn't so well. Se we went after Marion L. and Florence and when we came back to Argyle Busy stayed down to Marion's and kept the kids while her and Ed went down and saw Dottie. They got home about eleven o'clock. It was a good day. They thought Dottie was pretty bad.

Aug. 2. Tues. We did up the housework. The boys drew in hay in the afternoon. At night Johnnie went down to Argyle and played ball and Florence went with him. After the ball game they took Busy up to Florence Safford's to throw the rolling pin. After Jimmie and John got the chores done they got another load of hay. In the forenoon Jimmie sprayed potatoes awhile. At night he took the sprayer home. Garry went down with Marion today. They thought she was about the same. They didn't think she was any worse. Earl is not feeling very good tonight. It was a good day.

Aug. 3. Wed. We did up the housework. It was raining so Marion was going down to see Dottie and she thought Ed was going too but he had to help Jud so in the afternoon Marion and Garry went down. They thought she was a little better today. About middle of forenoon Johnnie took Busy and I down to Marion's to keep the kids. After dinner the rest of the folks came down to Argyle and stayed until chore time. But we waited a little while until Marion got home. They thought she was a little bit better today. It rained awful hard all afternoon. Hazel, George, Minnie came at Marion's in the afternoon. Floss was down quite awhile. At night Johnnie went away. It rained about all day.

Aug. 4. Thurs. We did up the housework and some baking. Johnnie finished mowing up on the hill. I did the churning. Busy and Florence went to the lower place after dinner and picked about 3 qts of raspberries. After dinner Liddle's came up and all but John rode down home with the girls. Him and Jimmie went up on Clayton's hill and done some haying. They brought down one load. Jimmie took it down and John & Johnnie went down in the car to help unload it. They brought team and wagon back. After supper Hazel, George and Minnie came down awhile. It was a good day. In the afternoon we cut up string beans.

Aug. 5. Fri. We did up the housework. In the forenoon we canned 14 pints and 7 qts of string beans and cooked them in the afternoon. In the afternoon the girls picked about 16 quarts of Blackberries. They finished drawing in the hay. Then they went up to Clayton's and got a couple loads of hay. They took them down to John's. Johnnie went down to play ball. After they got chores done the rest of us went down. Kenneth helped Jimmie milk. Then he took Molly & colt home. It was a good day. Dottie is a little better.

Aug. 6. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. Johnnie cultivated corn. Jimmie was at John's. In the forenoon Liddle's came up and I helped Marion fix her dress. In the afternoon Busy, Florence, Marjory, children went to Fort Edward. Marjory & Florence got their hair cut. After we got home they went down to the Billaken to a C. E. picnic. Jimmie did chores then he went down. I kept Lois here. It was a good day and awful hot.

Aug. 7. Sun. We did up the housework. We went to church. Johnnie stayed down and went to play ball. Ed, Marion, Ruth, Helen, Florence went to Saratoga and saw Dottie. She is quite a bit better. Mother, Eddy and Ray came home with us. About five o'clock we went to Argyle after Johnnie and Mother stayed down. While we were on our way down to C. E. it just poured and we had quite a hard thunder shower. It was warm.

Aug. 8. Mon. We did up the housework, washing and ironing. Jimmie & I went to Fred McAuley's funeral in the afternoon. We had to go to Argyle first so we took Florence W. & Marion L. up to Whittemore's to a 4H Club meeting. Edna went after them. Then Busy went down after her. The Liddle children came up here while Edna & John went to the funeral. At night Johnnie and Busy went down to Mildred Wood's to practice throwing the rolling pin. It was a good day.

Aug. 9. Tues. We did up the housework. The boys were down shoveling potatoes. The girls picked about 20 quarts of berries. Johnnie went down and played ball. I baked bread & buns & we had ice cream. It was a good day. We all went to Argyle except Busy after got chores done.

Aug. 10. Wed. We did up the housework. We planned on going out to Eva's to spend the day but I called out and she was going to have company at night so we did not go. Jimmie went to John's. Johnnie went to Argyle and worked at the cemetery until a little after noon because it rained. In the afternoon Johnnie was playing ball and got hit in the eye. After Jimmie & girls got the chores done Jimmie took Busy and I down to Argyle and brought the Dodge & Johnnie home. He is quite sick and had got a black eye. It rained in the afternoon.

Aug. 11. Thurs. We did up the housework and baking and canned 12 qts of blackberries. Jimmie went to John's all day. Johnnie didn't get up until about middle of forenoon. His face & eye is pretty sore and black. About middle of forenoon Hazel, Minnie, George & Bill came down. Hazel & Minnie stayed here and George & Bill went fishing. They stayed until about 4 o'clock. Little after noon we had a thunder shower. At night we all went to Argyle. The young folks went to the church to a reception for Mr. King.

Aug. 12. Fri. We did up the housework and baking and sweeping. Jimmie went to John's. Helen Mac E. came home with us last night. In the afternoon the girls picked berries. Busy cut out & made her waist. At noon Helen Clark called and wanted us to come down but we did not go because we had to much to do. It was a good day.

Aug. 13. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. The boys went down to lower place and cut and drew in hay. In the afternoon we got ready and went up to Hazel's. We left Busy to George Cuthbert's to practice throwing the rolling pin while we were gone. We stopped at Liddle's on way home and Johnnie came home with us. The starter broke on the car and Johnnie fixed it after we got home. Jimmie didn't get home until after the chores were done. At night Busy, Jimmie went away. It was a good day and warm.

Aug. 14. Sun. We did up the housework. We got ready and went to church except Johnnie and Jimmie. Jimmie went away in the afternoon. Johnnie went down and brought Helen C. up and then we went down to lower place and Helen Mac E. & Florence went in the water. We went down to young people's meeting at night. It was a good day.

Aug. 15. Mon. We did up the housework and the washing. Busy scrubbed the porch. Jimmie and Johnnie were down to John's all day. We didn't get much of the ironing done because Mary E. had to Florence and Teressa D. and Marion L. and Vena Clute and Gertrude McK. over to E. McNeils' to a 4H Club meeting. She stayed and brought them home. They got home about 7:00. Jimmie stayed down and reaped oats and Johnnie did chores all alone. It was a good day and warm.

Aug. 16. Tues. We did up the housework and the ironing and some baking. Busy did the churning. The boys were down to John's. After dinner we went over to Darflers and got the milk check and then we went to Argyle and Fort Edward with a grist. Busy got some new things before she went to Silver Bay. On our way home we stopped to Madeline K. to see about Busy going to Silver Bay. It was a good day but warm.

Aug. 17. Wed. We did up the housework, baking. Then Busy, Florence and I got ready and went to the Cambridge Fair because Busy was going to be in the Rolling Pin Contest. Argyle came out ahead. We stayed for night. The boys went down to the lower place and thrashed our oats. They were here for dinner. In the afternoon Edna & girls came up and picked the long berries. The boys didn't get through thrashing until about dark then they had to do chores after that. It was a good day.

Aug. 18. Thurs. We got things for Busy to take to Silver Bay. Jimmie took her down to Pendergrass' as she was going with Adah Stewart and John Kinney. They started about 7:30. She stayed up and is staying with Leona Barkley and Madeline Kinney in a little tent. In the forenoon Johnnie reaped some oats down below the orchard. Jimmie was down to John's in forenoon. It rained about noon and it rained hard all afternoon. Johnnie went to Argyle and Jimmie went down to Greenwich to get a part for his car but didn't get it. Johnnie went away at night. It rained hard all afternoon and got quite cool. L. Williamson came down in the afternoon.

Aug. 19. Fri. We did up the housework. baking and mopping. Johnnie finished cutting the oats. Jimmie and John brought up the thrashing machine and engine and set it up and towards night they got a load of oats and thrashed them. At night Florence and I went down to John's and kept their kids while John and Edna went out to the show. It was a good day. After noon they turned the oats.

Aug. 20. Sat. We did up the chores and the housework. Marjory and Earl got their things ready and Laurence came up after then and they went to Silver Bay to the Y. P. N. C. Florence and I kept Lois. They finished drawing in and thrashing the oats today. It was a good day. We did baking. Marjory and Laurence stayed all night.

Aug. 21. Sun. We did up the housework. We talked of going to Silver Bay but we did not go. In the afternoon we went to Argyle. We did not go to church because there wasn't any. We didn't get home very early to do chores. Johnnie went away again. It was a good day and the sun was awful hot. Marjory, Laurence and Earl got home about one o'clock in morning. Busy didn't come tonight.

Aug. 22. Mon. We did up the housework and the washing. Busy came home from Sliver Bay about 11:00. We had the washing all done when she got it back. Johnnie went out to the Fair to work. Jimmie went down to John's in the forenoon and in the afternoon John and Jimmie went up to Clayton's and cut some hay. We got the ironing all done. It was a good day.

Aug. 23. Tues. We did up the housework and did quite a bit of baking. In the afternoon I pressed and cleaned Jimmie's suit. About middle of afternoon Earl Smith came over. Jimmie and John took the load of hay and engine home this morning. They came up after the engine in the afternoon. Busy and Florence gathered up the grass and weeds that the boys cut. At night Johnnie went down after Helen Clark and she stayed all night and is going to the Fair with us. Jimmie went down to John's. It was a good day and hot.

Aug. 24. Wed. We did up the housework and baking and got our dinner & supper ready and went to the Fair and stayed for night because Jimmie is going to do chores. In the afternoon Jimmie and John's folks were out to the Fair. Lois stayed down to McWhorter's and Earl & Marjory and Laurence went to the Fair. Jimmie told us out to the Fair that he and John were going to start about 3 o'clock on their trip. They got the kids tent down to Marion's. When we got home from the Fair we got things ready for Jimmie to take with him. They started about 2 o'clock for New York. It was a good day and quite hot.

Aug. 25. Thurs. We did up the housework. We got out dinner ready to take to the Fair. I kept Lois at Marion's and Jennie kept Raymond and the rest all went to the Fair. Busy and Florence and Helen Clark stayed out for night. Johnnie and Earl Smith came home and did chores. and went back out to the Fair at night. Earl came back with them. It was a good day but awful hot. Marion came home from Fair about six o'clock.

Aug. 26. Fri. We did up the housework and did some baking. In the forenoon Johnnie took Helen Clark home. After he got back we had dinner then we got ready and went out to the Fair. Marjory and children went down to Marion's. We came home about seven o'clock. We couldn't get the engine started so we had to use lamp. They did chores. It was kind of late when they got them done. It was a good day but awful hot.

Aug. 27. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. Johnnie chored around. In the afternoon the girls and Johnnie took the heifer up in the field. We had a thunder shower in the afternoon.

Aug. 28. Sun. We did up the housework. We all got ready and went to church. Johnnie went and played ball in the afternoon. Busy went to Saratoga with Marion, Helen, Eddy and Ray. Florence, Ruth and I stayed at Marion's. Marjory, Laurence, children and Aunt Jen went up to Hazel's for the afternoon. Johnnie didn't get back until about seven o'clock then we came home and did chores. Then we went back to Argyle. The young folks went to C. E. It was a good day.

Aug. 29. Mon. We did up the housework and the washing. The clothes all got dry and we got the ironing all done. Johnnie chored around. In the afternoon Johnnie went to the lower place to see about the horses. At night we went down to Edna's. We didn't stay very late. It was a good day. We heard today that Mrs. Adella Todd died this morning.

Aug. 30. Tues. We did up the housework and some baking. Johnnie chored around in the forenoon. In the afternoon Johnnie went down to Olsenwick's and brought the horses over to the lower place. Busy and Florence went down to Edna's awhile. It was a good day. We did the churning. Johnnie went away at night.

Aug. 31. Wed. We did up the housework, and some baking. Johnnie chored around. In the afternoon Gert McK. came and took the school census. After that awhile Edna and the kids came up in Jimmie's car. Busy went home with them. Johnnie tried to start the engine but he couldn't get it going so we had to use lamps. Johnnie and Florence did the chores. After dark Edna & kids brought Busy home. This afternoon at 3:30 there was an eclipse on the sun. We watched it. It was a good day.

Sept. 1. Thurs. We did up the housework and some baking. In the forenoon Mary K. came over to spend the day. In the afternoon we went to Argyle. Us women folks went to Mrs. Todd funeral. Florence stayed at Marion's and kept all the children. Mary K. stayed there too. After that Busy went out to Fort Edward after feed so she took Mary K. home. Aunt Jennie rode out to the Fort with her because she is going to Hudson Falls for a few days. In the forenoon Johnnie tried to start the engine but could not get it to go. He went down and got George's little tractor but couldn't get it to go. They played ball at night so Johnnie went back down and played. Jimmie and John came home this forenoon. They had a wonderful trip. It was awful hot all day.

Sept. 2. Fri. We did up the housework. The boys worked with the engine. They took the battery and coil out of the Dodge and they got it started. In the afternoon we except the boys went up to Hazel's. They are alright. It was a good day.

Sept. 3. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. The boys chored around in the forenoon. In the afternoon the boys went to Argyle. Jimmie took down a load of wood for Mother in the back of his car. At night we went to Argyle except Busy. And Johnnie went on and we came home with Laurence. It was a good day.

Sept. 4. Sun. We did up the housework. We all went to church except Marjory and children because Lois isn't feeling very good. In the afternoon Johnnie went and played ball. He didn't get home until they had chores about all done and he brought Hugh W. home with them. The young folks went down to C. E. They rode home with Laurence. Johnnie took the car and went down and brought Helen Clark up and she stayed all night. It was cloudy and rained some.

Sept. 5. Mon. We did up the housework. We did not wash. The boys chored around in the forenoon. In the afternoon all except Lois and I went to Argyle. The boys played ball. At night Johnnie took Helen home. Jimmie went over to Darfler's to get the ice that Chuckie brought from Salem. It was a good day and quite warm.

Sept. 6. Tues. We did up the housework. We did the washing and ironing. School started today. Florence rode down with Laurence. Johnnie went down after her before noon because school was out. The men from the schoolhouse that are putting in the new Toilets came up and wanted Jimmie to help them so he helped them all day. In the forenoon I telephoned and got track of a new coil for our engine so at night we went down to Gansevoort after it. It was a good day and quite warm.

Sept. 7. Wed. Busy started for the Rutland Fair about six o'clock new time. We did up the housework. Marjory took Florence to school. Johnnie went up to Gilchrist's and helped thrash. Jimmie went to the school house and worked in the forenoon. In the afternoon he drew two loads of wood in the back end of his car down for Mother. In the afternoon we went to Argyle. Jennie is going up to Lake George with Merritt when he comes. He didn't come until after supper. It was a good day and quite warm.

Sept. 8. Thurs. We did up the housework and some baking. Florence rode down to school with Laurence. Jimmie went to McKernon's and helped dig potatoes. Johnnie chored around. He went down after Florence and was going to see Guy B. but he wasn't home. In the afternoon we cleaned up in the further bedroom. It was a good day.

Sept. 9. Fri. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence down to school. We were planning to go to Saratoga today but Marion is going with Mrs. Gallup so we didn't go. Johnnie took the horses down to the lower place. In the forenoon Marjory and Busy went down after crabapples. In the afternoon we got them ready and cooked them. We canned four pints of corn. The girls went to meet Florence. The boys drew down wood at the lower place. It was a good day but quite warm.

Sept. 10. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. Jimmie went up to McKernon's and Johnnie went to D. Foster's and picked potatoes. I made two lots of crabapple Jelly in the forenoon. In the afternoon Busy went to Argyle and brought up Marion's kids because Marion went to a shower for Louise P. F. Marjory & Earl went down to McWhorter's to a W. C. T. U. picnic. They came up with Laurence at night. We went down to D. Bain's after Marion and they all stayed up here alnight. It was a good day and quite cool. The boys went away at night.

Sept. 11. Sun. We did up the housework. We did not go to church. In the forenoon the boys and the rest of the kids went to the lower place. In the afternoon Laurence came up and Marjory and the children went down with him. Marion & Ruth & Ray rode down home with him. At night Johnnie went away. Then we went up to McKernon's before it was time to go to church. It was a good day and quite warm.

Sept. 12. Mon. We did up the housework. We did the washing and the ironing. In the forenoon Jimmie went down and drew out George's wood. In the afternoon the boys went to lower place and finished drawing out the wood. It was a good day. Florence rode home with Ed. Pollock.

Sept. 13. Tues. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to McKernon's to help dig potatoes. Johnnie shod King in the forenoon. Busy washed the wood work up stairs. At noon Edna came up and wanted Johnnie to come down to help saw wood. In the afternoon we went down to the church to the Installation and Ordination for Mr. King. We brought Florence home with us. John's folks brought Johnnie home. At night Johnnie went away. John L. took Florence and Marion to 4H Club meeting. Edna & kids stayed here while they were gone. It was a good day.

Sept. 14. Wed. We did up the housework. Jimmie went to Clare's and cut corn. Johnnie chored around in the forenoon. In the afternoon he went to lower place and shod Jerry and brought up a load of corn. In the afternoon we went to Saratoga to see Dottie. Mother, Ray and Marion went with us. Lois stayed at McWhorter's. Dottie is going back to Albany tomorrow. She is feeling good. It was a good day.

Sept. 15. Thurs. We did up the housework. Busy varnished the woodwork in Johnnie's bedroom and some in the back hall. The boys both went to Clare's with the team and helped fill silo. In the afternoon Mrs. Nichols came over to see about my dress. At night we went down to a social at the church. Lois and I did not go. Florence stayed down to Marion's until night. It was a good day.

Sept. 16. Fri. We did up the housework. Busy finished varnishing upstairs. Marjory made some sheets and pillow cases today. The boys went to Clare's and they got through a little after noon. They came home. Then they went down to John's to see about the insilage cutter. Busy went down after Florence. It was a good day.

Sept. 17. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. The boys went down to John's and brought up the engine and the ensilage cutter and got them set up. In the afternoon Johnnie went to Argyle to play ball. Jimmie and John run through a couple of loads and one after dark. In the afternoon us women folks went up to Fort Ann to a Washington Bi-Centennial parade. Argyle Union School had a float in parade. Helen, Eddy and Ruth were on it. It was a good day but quite cool. At night it rained a little and the wind blew hard.

Sept. 18. Sun. We did up the housework. Before church time Hazel, George, Minnie came down . We all went to church and they did too. Lois stayed at Marion's. It was communion. George's folks came up here in afternoon. At night we went to Argyle. Mother came up in the afternoon. Johnnie went down and brought Helen C. up. There was no C. E. at night. It was a good day.

Sept. 19. Mon. We did up the housework, washing and ironing. The boys and John Liddle drew corn from Clare's and filled silo. Florence went to school. Marjory, Earl, I went to Argyle with Jimmie's car and got feed and other groceries & Florence.

Sept. 20. Tues. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. The boys drew one load corn from Clare's and filled silo then they went up on the hill and cut corn and they filled silo in the afternoon. I made buns and bread. Busy, Earl and I went to Argyle after Florence. I was Will Hunt at Richard's Mill and got new points for the engine. It was a good day.

Sept. 21. Wed. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. The boys filled silo. Busy went up in the field and picked some elderberries and we picked them over. Busy went and met Florence. John L. had a man with him today. It was a good day.

Sept. 22. Thurs. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. The boys filled silo. John had a man and helped fill silo. Laurence brought up a couple bushel of tomatoes and we canned 32 pints today. Merritt and Jean and baby brought Aunt Jennie back to Argyle But we didn't see them. Busy went down after Florence. It was a good day. We cooked the elderberries.

Sept. 23. Fri. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence to school and Aunt Jennie came up and stayed all day. The boys finished filling silo all except one load. Busy went up and picked up the sweet corn. She was in the silo part of the time. Marion and the kids were going to bring Florence home and take Aunt Jennie back to Argyle but she couldn't get her car started. So Marjory & Earl took Jennie home and brought Florence home. It was a good day. We canned five quarts and a pint of tomatoes.

Sept. 24. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. The boys run through the last load of corn then they took the machinery down to John's and run through a couple loads of corn. In the afternoon we went to Argyle and took Mother and Jennie over to Salem Cemetery and then we went down to the village and saw the Gillis'. We stopped and saw Edith B. MacEachron and her family. We came back around by W. Hebron and took them back to Argyle. It was a good day. Jimmie, Johnnie, Busy went away at night.

Sept. 25. Sun. We did up the housework. We all got ready and went to church except me. I stayed at Mother's. In the afternoon Marion and Ed took Jennie back to Albany. They went and saw Dot. She likes it at Albany. Helen, Ruth and Ray came home with us and stayed until we went down at night. Eddy went up to Hall's. They didn't get home until after C. E. It was a good day.

Sept. 26. Mon. We did up the housework, washing and ironing. Florence went to school. The boys went to John's and helped fill silo. In the afternoon Busy, Marjory and Earl went to Fort Edward with a grist and brought Florence home from school. It was a good day. We canned seven pints of corn today.

Sept. 27. Tues. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. The boys did not fill silo in forenoon because it was kind of rainy, but did in P.M. We canned two quarts and five pints of corn. Florence rode home with McKernon's. Busy picked some apples. Johnnie went to basket ball practice at night for the first and we all went to Argyle. It was quite cool at night.

Sept. 28. Wed. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. We canned eleven pints of tomatoes and made some soup. The boys didn't go to fill silo. In the afternoon Johnnie went to Argyle to listen to the World's Series. He brought Florence home from school. Jimmie went up to see Lester in afternoon but he wasn't home. It was kind of rainy in forenoon.

Sept. 29. Thurs. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence to school. When she got back her and I fixed some barrels and she picked apples. Marjory ironed two sheets and pair of pillow cases. I canned some soup in the forenoon. Liddle's came up at night and Joe & Teddy Olsenwik came up. Jimmie & Busy went up to see Lester. The boys went to Liddle's and helped fill silo. It was a good day.

Sept. 30. Fri. We did up the housework, sweeping some baking. Busy picked apples in forenoon. The boys went to John's and helped fill silo. In the afternoon we went to Hazel's because it was her birthday. Florence stayed down until night. Jimmie, Johnnie, Busy and Florence went down to an open Grange Meeting. It was a good day and quite cool at night.

Oct. 1. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. Johnnie chored around and listened to the third game of the World Series. In the afternoon Busy took Florence and Teressa over to Nichol's to a 4H Club meeting. In the afternoon Marjory picked some green tomatoes. I made buns & bread. Jimmie went to D. Foster's. It rained in the forenoon but was pleasant in afternoon.

Oct. 2. Sun. We did up the housework. We got ready and went to church. Eddy came home from church with us. Eva and Jack came along awhile. We went down to Argyle at night and young folks went to C. E. Laurence was sick and Marjory & children came home with us. It was a good day.

Oct. 3. Mon. We did up the housework and the washing. Florence rode down with Darflers. The boys were down to John's. We did the ironing. Busy picked apples in afternoon. At night Busy and I went to Argyle. The girls had their first basket ball practice. Florence stayed down after school and came home with us at night. It was a good day.

Oct. 4. Tues. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. The boys were at John's. Busy picked apples. At night Johnnie went to Basket Ball practice. We all went down to Argyle. We kept kids while Marion & Ed went up to North Argyle Supper & to show. It was a good day.

Oct. 5. Wed. We did up the housework. Florence rode down with Laurence. Johnnie was at John L. & Jimmie at Foster's. We made some chow-chow and some green tomatoe pickles. In the afternoon we went down after Florence. It rained & Jimmie came home from Foster's and he & Johnnie & John L. went to Glens Falls. Busy & Florence got the cows.

Oct. 6. Thurs. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence and Johnny McK. to school. She worked at Marion's all day. In the afternoon Jimmie took Laurence W. out to Glens Falls. Johnnie went to Argyle. I cut out Earl's jacket. It rained hard all day. It is quite cool.

Oct. 7. Fri. We did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Laurence. Busy picked the green tomatoes. and some pound Sweets. In the afternoon the boys went to Liddle's to dig potatoes. We went down at night. Marjory went to church W. C. T. U. supper. I kept Marion's kids while they and the rest went up to the hall to a Cantor Club Dance. It was a good day.

Oct. 8. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. Busy & Florence watched the cows up on the hill. Busy picked apples. In the afternoon we went to Glens Falls. Mother went with us. We got home about dark and Busy & Florence got the cows and fed them and the girls helped milk. Busy, Jimmie, Johnnie went away at night. It was a good day.

Oct. 9. Sun. We did up the housework. We all went to church. Lois was baptized today and their were six other children. We went for a ride in the afternoon and came back around by H. Gillis and got some pumpkins. Marjory and children stayed down until night. At night they went to C. E. I stayed at Marion's and Mother's. Jimmie stayed home. It was a good day.

Oct. 10. Mon. We did up the housework, washing. Florence rode down with Laurence. We did the ironing. Busy picked apples. The boys were at John's all day. At night Johnnie and Busy went to Argyle & got Florence and they went to Basket Ball practice. It was a good day.

Oct. 11. Tues. We did up the housework. Marjory & Earl took Florence to school. Busy watched the cows. Johnnie and Jimmie went to John's but it rained so they didn't work. So they went to Glens Falls. Johnnie got examined for changing his Life Insurance. Busy picked some apples and grapes. At night Busy & Lester L. and Johnnie went down to Clark's to a birthday party for Helen. Helen C. came home with them. Florence stayed down to Marion's after school and went to a 4H Club meeting with Darfler's. It was a good day but quite cold.

Oct. 12. Wed. We did up the housework. We watched the cows. I finished picking grapes. The boys went to Liddle's in forenoon. We went down after Johnnie at noon. In the afternoon Johnnie & Helen went over to Salem to a ball game. Helen came back here for supper. Johnnie took her home at night. We got in some of our plants in afternoon. It was cold and windy and rained some.

Oct. 13. We did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Darfler's. Marjory rode down too as her & Laurence went to Glens Falls. I picked some apples. In the afternoon we went down after Florence & Marjory. We stopped at Liddle's a while going down. The boys went to John's all day. Jimmie went away at night. It was a good day but quite cold.

Oct. 14. Fri. We did up the housework. Busy watched the cows. Marjory & Earl took Florence to school. Lois & I stayed to Liddle's while they were gone. King had a sore leg. In the afternoon we pealed the ripe cucumbers and put them to soak in salt and water. We went to lower place as the boys started digging our potatoes. Florence stayed down until night. Busy, Florence and I went up to the hall to an entertainment. The boys went with J. L. and got the old Ford Truck running. It was a good day but cool.

Oct. 15. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. Busy mixed bread and we had chicken for dinner. Florence and Busy went to lower place and picked potatoes. Earl went down to the field with them in the afternoon. He came up with Jimmy and John about middle afternoon Marjory got the cows. I made biscuits and buns. And cooked the ripe cucumbers. It was a good day. The boys and Busy went away at night.

Oct. 16. Sun. We did up the housework. We did not any of us go to church. I was awful lame. The boys chored around. In the afternoon we went to the lower place and picked the grapes. At night we all went to Argyle. I kept the Children (Earl & Lois) at Marion's as Marjory was leader at C. E. The rest except Jimmie went too. It was a good day.

Oct. 17. Mon. We did up the housework and washing. We got the ironing all done. It was kind of damp and we had to put the clothes beside the stove. It rained some at noon so we had to take the clothes down. The boys and John dug potatoes in forenoon. Busy helped in the afternoon. Marjory got the cows. I cooked some of the grapes in the afternoon. At night Busy, Johnnie, Jimmie went down to Girl's basket ball practice.

Oct. 18. Tues. We did up housework. The boys went to Fort Edward with grist and took out some apples. About two o'clock we went to Argyle. We stayed with Ray & the rest of the kids until Marion and Ed got home. They went to Grandma MacEachron's funeral at Saratoga. Marjory and Earl stayed down until night and went to the chicken pie supper at the church. Johnnie went to basket ball practice at night. It rained quite a bit of the day. I made some grape Jelly.

Oct. 19. Wed. We did up the housework. In the forenoon Busy picked up some cider apples. The boys went to dig potatoes but it was too wet to dig with the digger so they went over the John's. When they went down after Florence, Busy took the cider apples to get ground into cider for the Dance for tomorrow night. At night Johnnie went away. We waited for T. Darfler but she didn't come home with us. It was sort of cloudy & rainy.

Oct. 20. Thurs. We did up the housework. The boys dug potatoes. There is no school today as it is Teacher's Conference. About ten o'clock Busy and Florence went down and picked potatoes. In the afternoon they didn't help with the potatoes. We went to Salem on business. The girls got the cows and fed them and helped milk. We got ready and went to Argyle. I kept Marion's kids and they and the rest went up to the hall to a dance given by Girl's Basket Ball Association. Marjory & kids started down with us but we met Laurence down the road so they went back home. It was a good day.

Oct. 21. Fri. We did up the housework. I made bread, buns, biscuits and we had chicken for dinner. Marion and the kids were here for dinner and went down to the field and picked potatoes in afternoon. They went home about five o'clock. Eddy stayed up. It was a good day but quite windy. Marjory got the cows.

Oct. 22. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping and baking. The boys dug potatoes. The girls & Eddy helped pick. I made bread again. Edna came up after dinner and got her hair cut. The boys and Busy went away at night. Eddy stayed all night. Marjory got the cows. It was a good day.

Oct. 23. Sun. We did up the housework. Before church time Hazel, George and Minnie came down and we all went to church. Mr. Safford preached. We brought Eddy and Raymond home with us as Marion and Ed, Ruth and Helen went down to Albany to see Dorothy. They said she was feeling good. Mother rode down to Albany with them and is going to stay with Aunt Jennie a few days. The young folks went to C. E. It was a good day.

Oct. 24. Mon. We did up the housework and the washing. The boys dug potatoes and Busy helped pick. They finished digging potatoes in our field. We had 850 bushel off from ours. Marjory & I did the ironing. Marjory and Earl went down after Florence after school. Florence got the cows. It was a good day.

Oct. 25. Tues. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence to school. The boys started digging Jimmie's. Busy helped pick. Florence stayed down at Marion's all night. Jimmie and Johnnie went down to Basket Ball practice. Lester came down at night. It was a good day.

Oct. 26. Wed. We did up the housework and mopping. The boys and Busy worked with Jimmie's potatoes all day. Marjory , kids & I went down after Florence. Ed & Marion went to Albany with Williams to see Dorothy. She is feeling good. about dark Marjory went down after Oley and Eleanor as their folks wasn't coming home until later. Johnnie couldn't get the engine started. It was a good day.

Oct. 27. Thurs. We did up the housework. In the forenoon we pealed the ripe tomatoes and cooked them. Morgan came here and telephoned. The boys were at John's digging potatoes. We went down after Florence after school. It was rainy and wet.

Oct. 28. Fri. We did the housework. They finished digging Jimmie's potatoes about middle of afternoon. They brought up the potatoes on the truck and drew the apples then they went back down to John's and dug the rest of the afternoon. Busy took Florence to school. She went down after her after school. At night Johnnie went away and the rest of us went down to the School house to a Halloween Party. It was a good day but quite windy.

Oct. 29. Sat. The boys went to John's and dug potatoes. I was talking with Marion about noon and she said that Sister Lydia from Child's Hospital, Albany had called and said that Dorothy was quite sick. But didn't think that there was any need for them to come down. In about a half an hour Helen called and said that they had gotten word from Albany that Dottie had died. Busy and I got ready and went to Argyle. Garry went and got word to Ed. Then Marion and Ed went to Albany. They saw Aunt Jennie. She was with Dottie when she died. Dottie was sick Thursday and kept getting worse Friday and was awful bad Saturday. Marion got a new coat, hat. They got home about half past eight. He worked with her until about three o'clock. At night the rest of the folks came down in Jimmie's car. It was about half past twelve when they went home. I stayed all night. Garry and Floss stayed until about three o'clock. Then we went to bed. The boys were at John's digging potatoes all day. It was a good day except rained a little at night. They made arrangements that the funeral is Tuesday at 2 o'clock. Mr. King was in at night awhile.

Oct. 30. Sun. We did up the housework and the boys did chores. We had dinner then we went to Argyle. Marjory & children went down to McWhorter's about five o'clock. The boys came home and did chores. They went to C. E. Then we came home with them. Busy stayed down all night. In the forenoon Hazel and George came down. It was a pretty good day but quite windy and cool.

Oct. 31. Mon. We did up the housework. We washed out a few things by hand. They got dry and we got them all ironed. The boys were at John's in forenoon. In the afternoon Johnnie and Jimmie went to Glens Falls. Johnnie went to the Comac Sales Garage and brought home a 1929 Nash Coach to try out. Jimmie did a few errands. Then he came back to John's and dug potatoes until night. Johnnie brought Florence home. At night we all went to Argyle except Marjory and children. It was a good day but quite cool.

Nov. 1. Tues. We did up the housework. After Breakfast we went for a ride in the Nash. It was raining hard. John and Edna & Dorothy came up awhile in the forenoon. We had lunch at noon. Mr. Bentley came out and we traded the Dodge for the Nash. He took the Dodge home with him. Earl stayed down with Edna L. while we went to Dorothy's funeral. Lois stayed down to McWhorter's. It rained hard all day until about time to go to the cemetery. Then it just about quite. There were a lot of pretty pieces of flowers. We came home about five o'clock. It was getting colder.

Nov. 2. Wed. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence to school. We washed out a few clothes by hand. In the afternoon Johnnie and I went to Glens Falls and did the business for the Nash and had some things fixed on it. Jimmie was at John's. Florence came home with us. Busy put the cows in. It was kind of rainy and cold.

Nov. 3. Thurs. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. The boys were at John's. In the forenoon we set up the sitting room stove. In the afternoon Busy went down and helped Marion do her ironing. Marjory and Earl went to Argyle. I kept Lois here. At night I pulled the beets, Cabbages. It was awful cold at night. Liddle's came up awhile. It was a good day but cold.

Nov. 4. Fri. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. The boys were at Liddle's. In afternoon I had to go down to the bank and we all went down. We took a grist to Argyle and got it ground. We were at Marion's awhile. It was a good day but quite cool.

Nov. 5. Sat. We did up the housework, mopping, baking. The boys went to Liddle's but it rained and they didn't work in the forenoon. But it cleared off in the afternoon and they went down and finished digging John's potatoes. Busy and Florence had to bake for the Food Sale that the Girl's Basket Ball Team were having at Burch's Store. Teressa Darfler came over and rode down with Busy and Florence. Mr. Jones Johnnie's Insurance man came and left him his check. At night the boys went away.

Nov. 6. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did the chores. In the forenoon Jimmie went down to John's. Laurence W. came down and Jimmie took him up to Hartford to his Mother's. We had dinner when he got back then we went for a ride in the Nash. Marjory and children stopped at McWhorter's. We went to Argyle at night & young folks went to C. E. It was a good day and not awful cold.

Nov. 7. Mon. We did up the housework. Jimmie took out three bushel of apples and sold them. In the afternoon Johnnie went to Argyle and washed the car and brought Florence home from school. Jimmie started plowing up on the hill in the afternoon. We didn't wash because it looked rainy. Busy picked the Baldwin apples in the P. M.

Nov. 8. Tues. We did up the housework and baking. Jimmie took Florence down to school and voted. In the afternoon he helped John saw wood. Johnnie plowed in the forenoon. I was making Florence's skirt. In the afternoon we all went to Argyle. We got Marion then we went up to vote. Johnnie did something to the car. It was a good day. We helped Marion put up her plant shelf. We brought Florence home.

Nov. 9. Wed. We did up the housework. We did the big washing. Florence went to school. We got the clothes dry and the ironing done. Jimmie went to saw wood and he drove the Nash. He didn't get home until late and he went down after Florence. It was a good day and not very cold. Johnnie plowed all day.

Nov. 10. Thurs. We did up the housework. Florence went to school. Johnnie went up to Morgan's and got his hair cut in the forenoon. In the afternoon he went out to Glens Falls and got some more work done on the Nash. He didn't get home until late. He brought Florence home with him. After supper he went to Fort Ann and played basket ball. They got beat. Jimmie sorted potatoes in the forenoon and he plowed in the afternoon. In rained in forenoon but didn't in afternoon.

Nov. 11. Fri. We did up the housework, sweeping and baking. Busy, Marjory & children took Florence to school. Jimmie plowed. Johnnie went down to John's then he went and down to H. Randles and brought Ned home in forenoon. They took turns plowing in afternoon. Busy went down after Florence after school. Teressa rode home with them. At night Busy went down and

stayed with the Liddle kids while Edna & John went away. It was a good day.

Nov. 12. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. The boys took turns plowing. In the forenoon Marjory took Earl and Lois down to the schoolhouse to the Toxin-Antitoxin clinic. Marion took Ray too. They have to go back in 4 weeks. Busy went down with her. Marion and the kids came home with them because she is going to stay all night until tomorrow. Johnnie picked a few Ben Davis apples. In the afternoon a man came and got some potatoes that Jimmie had sold. At night the boys and Busy went away. It was a pretty good day but quite cold.

Nov. 13. Sun. We did up the housework. The boys did chores. Johnnie, Marion, Helen, Florence, Earl and I went to church. Mother came home with us. Laurence came up for dinner. Laurence W. was here in afternoon. Marjory & children went down with Laurence. Marion and children except Helen went home with Laurence. Johnnie went away in the afternoon. At night they all went to C. E. except me. Mother & Helen rode down with them. It was a good day but quite cool.

Nov. 14. Mon. We did up the housework. Florence rode down to school with Darfler's. Jimmie drew down five loads of wood in his car for Grandma. Johnnie plowed. We sewed and mended in afternoon. It was a bad morning but turned out to be a nice afternoon. They went down to Girl's Basket Ball practice at night. Florence stayed down all night. Ed got home tonight. He got an eight-point Buck.

Nov. 15. Tues. We did up the housework. Jimmie plowed in forenoon Johnnie picked up Garry's twenty bushel of cider apples in forenoon. The boys went to lower place and pulled beans. Then they took Mother's last load of wood down and brought Florence home. Busy raked and burned leaves in the forenoon. In the afternoon I dyed Florence's coat. It was a good day and not very cold. We washed out quite a number things by hand. At night Johnnie went down to Basket Bal practice. I dyed Florence's coat black.

Nov. 16. Wed. We did up the housework. Busy & Earl took Florence to school. Edna L. came up and Marjory and children went down and stayed all day. Jimmie finished plowing in forenoon. In the afternoon the boys finished pulling beans and brought up a load of straw. Busy went down after Florence and Marjory came home with them. At night Jimmie and Johnnie went away. It rained some in the afternoon. I sewed and baked some.

Nov. 17. Thurs. We did up the housework. I sewed on Florence's coat. At noon the boys took the plant boxes down cellar. Busy mended some. Johnnie went to Argyle in afternoon and Ed helped him put the heater on the Nash. Jimmie drew a couple loads of manure up on the hill and drew up Garry's apples. Then he went down to John's. At night Johnnie, Jimmie, Busy and Florence went to the ball game. It was windy and cold.

Nov. 18. Fri. We did up the housework. Johnnie took Florence to school. He worked on the car and got home about noon. Garry came up in forenoon and got his twenty bushel of cider apples. Busy swept. Florence stayed down after school. We all went to Argyle at night. The girls practiced Basket Ball. It was a good day but cold.

Nov. 19. Sat. We did up the housework, baked and mopped. It rained hard all day. Johnnie went to Argyle in afternoon then he went down after Helen Clark. At night Johnnie and Jimmie and Helen went away. Busy went away at night. Toward night it let up raining. We did some sewing in afternoon.

Nov. 20. Sun. We did up the housework. We did not go to church. Hazel, George and Minnie came down. They stayed until about three o'clock. It was a good day but cold. At night Johnnie, Jimmie, Busy and Florence went to Christian Endeavor.

Nov. 21. Mon. We did up the housework. We did not wash because it kind of snowy. Florence rode down with Darfler's. I sewed on Busy's Black Satin dress. In the afternoon Jimmie went over and got the German and he brought over his radio. At night Johnnie, Jimmie and Busy went to Girl's Basket Ball practice. Florence stayed down to Marion's all night.

Nov. 22. Tues. We did up the housework. We did a big washing, (blankets & spreads). We did ironing and the clothes all got dry. Johnnie and Jimmie went down after Florence. At night Johnnie went down to Basket Ball practice. It was a good day.

Nov. 23. Wed. We did up the housework. In the afternoon Johnnie went to Argyle to mark off the hall for Girls Basket Ball. Marjory went down to Argyle. We kept Earl and Lois. Jimmie took the team and plowed a couple ditches along side the road. Florence came home after school with them. I picked a couple of hens this afternoon. At night the boys went away. We made some candy at night. It was a good day but quite cold.

Nov. 24. Thurs. Thanksgiving Day. We did up the housework. In the forenoon Laurence came up after Marjory and children and mother came up here with him. They went down to McWhorter's. Hazel, George and Minnie came down her for dinner. They went home about 3 o'clock. Johnnie went down to Clark's for supper so Mother went home with him. It was a good day and not awful cold.

Nov. 25. Fri. We did up the housework. Jimmie drew some manure. In the forenoon we got ready and we all except Jimmie went to Glens Falls. We left Lois down to McWhorter's. Florence got a new coat & shoes. Earl got his coat, Beret, Leggings. We got home about three o'clock. Then we had dinner. At night Liddle's came up. It was a good day and not very cold.

Nov. 26. Sat. We did up the housework, baking and mopping. In the afternoon we kept Dorothy Liddle while her folks went to Glens Falls. They didn't get home until about seven o'clock so we took Dorothy with us and we met them down at Shannon's Corners so they took her. The girls played basket ball at night. They played Greenwich 4H Girls and Argyle got beat. Johnnie went down after Helen C. and she came up and stayed all night. I went up to the ball game. It was a good day but the coldest day we a have had. 2º below zero

Nov. 27. Sun. We did up the housework. We all went to church except me and Lois stayed at Marion's. In the afternoon Johnnie took Helen home. The young folks went to Christian Endeavor and I was at Marion's and Mother's. It was a good day but awful cold.

Nov. 28. Mon. We did up the housework and some washing by hand and did ironing in afternoon. At night Jimmie, Johnnie and Busy and Florence went to Girls Basket Ball practice. Florence stayed at Marion's all night. The boys chored around. It was a pretty good day but quite cold.

Nov. 29. Tues. We did up the housework. The boys went to John McNeil's auction. About eleven o'clock George brought Hazel and Minnie down and they stayed here while George went over to the auction. They stayed until about three o'clock. After noon awhile the boys came home and did chores. They went back to the auction. Then they went to Argyle with a grist and brought Florence home from school. It was a good day but quite cold. At night the boys went away.

Nov. 30. Wed. We did up the housework and baked & mopped. Florence rode to school with Laurence. Busy went down after Florence after school. The boys went to Argyle to the First Nite of the Grange Fair. It was a good day.

Dec. 1. Thurs. We did up the housework. Busy took Florence to school and did some errands. Jimmie went to John L's. Johnnie chored around. Johnnie went to Argyle in afternoon after feed. Florence stayed down to Marion's after school. We all went to Argyle at night. I kept Lois at Marion's and her children and the rest of the folks went up to the Grange Fair. It was a good day and not awful cold.

Dec. 2. Fri. We did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Laurence. The boys chored around. We had dinner about 3:30. We all went to Argyle at night. We went about 5:30 because the Girls' went to Schuylerville to play ball. They started from Argyle about 6:00. I stayed at Marion's and kept the kids so Ed & Marion could go with them. After they got back we went up to the Grange Fair Dance. Marjory & children went down to McWhorter's. It was a good day and not awful cold.

Dec. 3. Sat." (Busy's handwriting) " We did up the housework, moping and baking. We baked for the girls food sale. Around 10 o'clock Marj. and Florence took Earl and Lois down to the High School to the Toxin-Antitoxin Clinic. In the afternoon Florence, Busy and I went to Argyle. The girls went to the food sale at Burchs. We went to Maurice Kilmers, I went to Mothers and Marions. On our way down we saw that Blance Jablonski's house had burned and was burning a little yet. Eddie came home with us. Jimmy drew manure to lower place and Johnny chored around. The boys went away at nite.

Dec. 4. Sun. We did up the housework. We all went to church except Marjory and kids went to Marions. We left Eddie. Also Marion and Ruthie went too. Florence stayed for Sabbath School. Helen came home with us. Johnny went away in the P. M. He came home and brought Helen C. up around five o'clock. We made some candy. The boys did chores we had supper. And all went to Argyle. Johnny took Helen C. home while Jimmy, Florence and Busy went to C. E. Helen and I went to Marions. Then I went over to Mothers.

Dec. 5. Mon. We did up the housework. Florence rode to school wit Darflers." (Marjory's handwriting) "We did the washing. It was a nice day. Clothes got dry and Marjory and Busy did the ironing. The boys and Busy went down to basketball practice. They went to Marion's and got Florence and she went back and stayed to Marions all night. Jimmy went down to Ralph Yarters while the rest were at basketball practice. After they got through practicing they went down to Ralph's and stayed a while.

Dec. 6. Tues. We did up the housework. I made bread and buns. Busy washed her hair and Marjory washed Earl's and Lois's hair. In the afternoon Marjory & children & Busy & I went to Argyle. Johnny put up a grist and we took it to Argyle and got it ground and got some feed. Marjory and the children went down to their new home and stayed a while. I went to Marion's and Mother's. We brought Florence home from school. Jimmy went to John McKernon's and chopped wood. Johnny went to basketball practice. It is warm today and the roads are terrible muddy.

Dec. 7. Wed. We did up the housework. Busy and Earl took Florence to school. After they got back Busy swept and mopped in the kitchen and sitting-room. In the forenoon Marjory washed windows in the sitting-room, parlor and the two bedrooms down stairs and Busy washed windows in the back hall, Johnny's bedroom and her bedroom. In the afternoon Marjory washed windows in her room, front hall, kitchen and pantry. Busy washed them in Jimmy's bedroom. Two men came to look at potatoes. I sewed on Helen's blue skirt. Busy and Earl went to Argyle after Florence. We had supper around 5:30 we heard an awful roar. It was the kitchen chimney on fire. The wind blew terrible hard. We got the fire put out after while. Today I cleaned Ruth's coat and Helen's blue suit. Jimmy chopped wood at McKernons.

Dec. 8. Thurs. We did up the housework. Florence & Helen rode down with Laurence. In the forenoon Marjory and I were sewing so Busy did the baking. The boys were down to Jablonski's helping clean up after the fire in the forenoon and Jimmy went back in the afternoon. Johnny drew manure to the lower place in the afternoon. In the afternoon I sewed on Helen's blue suit and Marjory made some clothes for the children. At night the boys and Busy went to girls Basketball practice. They went to Marion's after Florence. She came home after practice with them. I made Earl a pair of bloomers after Marjory and children went to bed.

Dec. 9. Fri. We did not get up very early. Busy took Florence to school and Marjory and Earl went down to their new home to do some work today. Lois stayed here with me. I fixed the cellar windows and Johnny fixed windows in the horsebarn. I finished Helen's blue suit this afternoon. Johnny, Busy, Lois and I went to Argyle at night. We left Lois with Marjory at Marion's. We went to the Grange hall to a Dial Phone meeting. I went to Marion's after it was over and Busy stayed to Grange meeting. Florence came home with us. It snowed a little at night.

Dec. 10. Sat. We did up the housework. I made pancakes for breakfast. We froze ice cream. Marjory and I did the baking. Busy swept and mopped. Around noon Johnny brought Dorothy Liddle up as they were going to Glens Falls. We had dinner around 5:30. Liddle's came up after Dorothy at night. The boys both went away. It started snowing around six. I finished Helen's blue suit and sent it down with Johnny.

Dec. 11. Sun. About four inches of snow. We did up the housework. We did not go to church. Johnny went away after dinner and did not get home until night. Jimmy rode down with Johnny to John Liddles and came up with all of John's folks. Jimmy and John took Ned up in the back field and shot him. They went home around 5 o'clock. Busy and Florence helped Jimmy do the chores. At night Busy, Jimmy and Florence went down to C. E. in Jimmy's car. They got stuck on MacEachron Hill coming home. It snowed a little while they were at church, and made it slippery. They got up after pushing quite some.

Dec. 12. Mon. Florence rode to school with Darfler's. We did up the housework. Marjory and Busy washed quite a lot by hand. They did not get dry as it was cold and snowy. In the afternoon Marjory and I made some sofa pillow ticks and I filled them with feathers and Marjory made some covers for them. Jimmy and Johnny took some manure down to the lower place. At night Jimmy, Johnny, and Busy went down to basketball practice. Florence went too but stayed all night at Marions. I cut out a heavy play suit for Earl.

Dec. 13. Mon. We did up the housework. The clothes got dry and the girls did the ironing. I made bread and buns. Johnny killed a hen and Busy picked it and I cut it up. In the afternoon I sewed on Earls play suit. Jimmy drew a load of manure to the lower place. Dave Black came up to look at our potatoes and bought 200 bushel to go as soon as they can get them sorted at $.35 a bushel. Johnny went to Argyle after Florence and brought the one-horse sleigh from Mothers barn. Johnny McKernon rode home with them. At night the boys went to basketball practice and Liddles came up to separate milk. They didn't stay very long." (Busy's handwriting)

"Dec. 14. Wed. We did up the housework. We separated our mornings milk. Johnny and Earl took Florence to school. I finished making Earls outdoor blue playsuit today. The boys sorted potatoes and did chores. They went to John McKernons to get his scales in the P.M. At nite Johnny took me to Argyle to stay with marions children while Marion and Ed went to the show to celebrate their 10th Wedding Anniversary. Ray is 2 years old today too. Florence stayed to Marions after school. She wet to a 4H meeting with Liddles and came back and stayed to Marions all nite. Jimmy and Busy sorted some potatoes at nite.

Dec. 15. Thurs. We did up the housework. I baked some in the forenoon. Busy helped the boys sort some potatoes. Jimmy drew a load of manure down to the lower place in the afternoon and they sorted some more potatoes then. Busy went to Argyle after Florence. The boys did chores. We had supper. Jimmy, Florence and Busy went to Argyle to a dance in the grange hall. It has been cold all day and is colder at nite.

Dec. 16. Fri. 15º below zero We did up the housework. Johnny and Earl took Florence to school. Viola Scally came up awhile. Busy helped the boys sort some potatoes in the forenoon. We did some baking. Around noon Laurence came up after a load of Marjorys things. Marjory, Earl and Lois went to Argyle to live in their new home. They rode down with the boys when they went after Florence and Teressa. Busy swept some in the afternoon. It has been very cold all day and even colder at nite.

Dec. 17. Sat. 20º below zero We did up the housework. I did the baking. Florence churned. Busy did the sweeping and moping. The boys sorted potatoes. In the afternoon Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place. Johnny tried to start the car but could not so we pushed it down the hill and they pushed it down the next hill it didn't even start then. They met Jimmy with the team so he towed them and it started. At nite we all went to Argyle. We all went to Marjorys awhile. Then I went to Burch's to buy Marion a present as this is her birthday. Then I went to Mothers and Marions while the rest went up to the hall to play basketball. The boys played Hudson Falls. The girls played a picked up team as Greenwich did not come. We had to get a wick for the oilstove and some kerosene, when we got home we had to fix the oil stove and start it burning down cellar as it is so cold. It has been pretty lonesome around here today with Marjory and the children.

Dec. 18. Sun. 14º below zero. We did up the housework. We all went to church. We did not stay for Sabbath School. We went down to Marjorys, Earl came home with us. In the afternoon Johnny went down after Helen. The boys did chores. We had supper. All went to Argyle I went to Marjorys and kept Lois while the rest and Marjory and Earl also Marion and children went to the church to a Christmas drama. The church was nearly full. We stayed to Marjorys while Johnny took Helen home. In the afternoon Fred Darfler brought the part we needed for the engine he got to Will Hunts.

Dec. 19. Mon. 4º below zero. We did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Darflers. In the forenoon Busy and I washed out some clothes by hand. Hung them all on the porch. They did not dry much as it is cold and cloudy. The boys sorted potatoes in the forenoon. And Johnny and Busy finished sorted them in the afternoon while Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place. We all went to Argyle at nite. Florence stayed to Marjorys after school and they went down after her and went to girls B. B. Practice. They took her back down to stay all nite. I went to Mothers and to Marions. We got home around 11 o'clock. Dave Black said he would be here in about an hour for potatoes but he didn't get here until 1:15. It was 3 o'clock when they got the potatoes loaded and we got to bed. Took a little over 200 bushel.

Dec. 20. Tues. We did not get up very early. We did up the housework. I made out 2 orders and sent for things. Busy took down the clothes and ironed them Jimmy went to Liddles in the forenoon. So we 3 just had a lunch at noon. In the afternoon Busy and I went to Argyle, did a few errands, went to Marions, Grandmas and Marjorys. Marion has a very bad cold. Florence came home with us. Earl came up and stayed all nite too as Marjory and Laurence went to Glens Falls tonite. Johnny went away at nite. not so cold.

Dec. 21. Wed. We did up the housework. I made pancakes for breakfast. Jimmy took Florence to school and took Earl down home. Dave Black left word to Marions that they wouldn't take the potatoes down their, that they would have to be sorted over again so the boys went up to see Dave Black and made arangements to go down the next morning to sort them. In the afternoon Johnny got us a Christmas tree. We set it up in the sitting room and decorated it. We went to Argyle at nite. Florence stayed to Marjorys after school. We all went to church to Sabbath School Christmas tree and some pictures were shown. Marj. and children, Marion and four children went too. Florence came home with us. Kinda warm, snow is thawing, kinda slippery.

Dec. 22. Thurs. We got up around 5:30. The boys did chores. We had breakfast. The boys did their noon chores. And took Florence to school, stopped and got John Liddle and they 3 went to Watervliet where Dave hired a garage to put the potatoes. They sorted some but Dave didn't come so they waited until around 4 o'clock then they came home. Got home around 7. I have been about sick all day. Have sore eyes, sore throat, stiff neck, lame back and knees and head ache. I layed on the lounge nearly all day. Got the grip I guess. Busy baked some and did a few chores at noon. After the boys got home they did chores. We had a little supper. I went to bed around 7:30. Johnny, Jimmy and Busy went to the C. E. Christmas Tree at the church took Florence from Marions. also left her their to stay all nite.

Dec. 23. Fri. I am not feeling very well yet. We did up the housework. We had dinner around 12. Jimmy, Johnny and Busy went to Argyle. Johnny went to school to Christmas tree. As soon as school was out around 3 o'clock they four went to Glens Falls. They got home around 7 o'clock. The boys did chores. Then the boys and Laurence went down to the Christmas Exersices at the school house. Marjory, Laurence and the kids came up shortly after the rest got back from the Falls. They went home around 9 o'clock. Not very cold, kinda icy.

Dec. 24. Sat. We did up the housework. Did some baking in the forenoon. The boys chored around in the forenoon. And after dinner they took a grist to Argyle and got feed. Got home around 5. Busy swept and moped the kitchen floor in the afternoon. I layed down awhile, feel better, but not to good yet. In the afternoon and at nite Florence, Busy and I rapped up some Christmas presents. Both the boys went away at nite. Warm, snow is nearly gone, getting muddy.

Dec. 25. Sun. I am feeling pretty good this morning. We got up quite early. I made chocolate sauce, we got ice cream fixed. The boys did up their noon chores and brought ice and froze the ice cream. We all went to Argyle. We took the ice cream down to Marions for dinner and supper. I went down and stayed to Marjorys while the rest went to church. Marion and all the children went too. After church was their white Gift Exercises. The children spoke pieces, etc. They came down to Marjorys after me. We went up to Marions for dinner. Mother was over for dinner. After dinner we took the presents off the tree. Then washed the dishes. Marjory, Laurence and children came up to Marions and stayed a while. The boys and Bob. Gardner came home and did the chores. Busy, Florence and I stayed down. The boys came back down at nite. and they, Florence, Helen and Busy went to C. E. I went over to Mothers awhile. The boys had the first flat tire on the Nash on their way from doing chores. It was quite warm. The roads are terrible muddy.

Dec. 26. Mon. We did up the housework. In the forenoon Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place. Johnny and the girls took down the garden fence and took out the posts. In the afternoon the boys went to look for the calves and found them down below Liddles. Florence and I ripped up a dress that Eva gave Florence. And Busy ripped up her red dress Hazel gave her. Johnny went away at nite. Roads muddy, wind blows quite cold. I feel pretty good today.

Dec. 27. Tues. We got up quite early. We did up the housework. And did the washing. Quite a big one. Florence made cake. I pield potatoes. Then Busy moped the kitchen floor. The boys went to the lower place to saw wood for Laurence in the forenoon. They came home about noon and had not seen Laurence. So soon after that Laurence, Marjory and the children came up. We had dinner. The boys did chores. Then they 3 went down to the lower place and John Liddle helped them saw the wood Laurence bought. In the afternoon Marjory made Lois some dresses and bloomers. Busy and Florence ironed some. John brought Johnny and Jim home. Marjory and children stayed for supper and rode down with Jimmy and Johnny when they went down to B. B. practice. Not a very good day. The clothes didn't dry very good. Nearly all on porch at nite as it started snowing around 7 o'clock. Not very cold. I layed down awhile in the afternoon. Kinda tired.

Dec. 28. Wed." (Marjory's handwriting) "We did up the housework In the forenoon we did some baking. In the forenoon Jimmy drew manure to the lower place and Johnny fixed the starter on the car. In the afternoon the boys went down to John L's to saw some wood for Jim Scally. After they got home Johnny worked on the car a while. At night we all stayed home.

Dec. 29. Thurs. We did up the housework. In the morning we separated milk. Florence and I ripped and started to make a skirt for her. In the forenoon the boys went out and got the license for the Nash. In the afternoon Jimmy took down a load of manure to the lower place and Johnny did chores and put new wire in the kitchen lights. At night we all went to Argyle I stayed to Marions and Marjorys while the rest went to a 4H dance. It is terrible foggy. Almost unsafe to drive.

Dec. 30. Thurs. We did up the housework. After the boys did the chores we all went up to Hazels except Johnny. We were up there for dinner. We came home about 4:30. Still keeps foggy. At night we all went down to Argyle. They had three B. B. games. Argyle Girls played Greenwich girls, Greenwich won 15-11. High School Boys played Greenwich Post Graduates, Greenwich won 25-10. Town Boys played Greenwich All Stars Argyle won 22-17. Pretty exciting games.

Dec. 31. Fri. We did up the housework and baking. Busy mopped the floor. Florence churned. In the forenoon the milk check came. Johnny went down to Argyle and put some money in the bank for me and did some other errands. He went on down to East Greenwich and got Helen. He brought her up to stay. In the forenoon Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place. At night Jimmy and Busy went away. The End."
